Hello, without having watched your video about your new green toolbox, my husband had already bought me one for Valentine’s Day. I was over the moon excited! 😊🎉 thanks for your video about setting it up. On the official Valentine’s Day, we have a date to go accessory shopping at harbor freight! We have great husbands! Btw, you are so cute on your channel. I appreciate your kindness and encouragement.
Oh my goodness! Thank you for sharing this. I would've never thought to use this for sewing room storage. I have walked past these in Harbor Freight (the red ones) for years. I have to check out the green ones. This may be the solution to my problem. 😊 If the measurements work out, I may have room to roll the cart away into my closet when not in use. I see they come in a variety of colors, but not lavender. 🤣
I have totally changed my mind about Harbor freight thanks to you! One went in just down the street from me and I won’t lie, I was disappointed when it went in and thought that I would never step into it. I now plan on planning a shopping trip! I hope they appreciate all the new business you are sending their way 😂
My father made one of those wooden tool boxes as a class requirement in high school back in the 1940's. I still have that box and use it for my knitting supplies.
I bought a Husky brand rolling tool box from Home Depot to use as my cutting table and fabric storage. It has a butcher block top and is off white in color. I love it!!
I have quite possibly the same one. It has an outlet strip on the side as well so I also use it as a pressing station. Each drawer has an active WIP, except for one which holds my sewing machine accessories and thread. I love it as well. 10/10 recommend
I bought a tool chest on wheels for my embroidery machine and supplies. You gave me the idea to go back for one you showed while it is on sale. I will use it for more quilting supplies. I knew I would need more than one! Thanks for the great storage ideas.
I use a tackle box to put a lot of my tools into when I go on retreats. It has lots of compartments and I can fit all that I need in one case. It also locks if I want it to. 😊
Wow! What a wonderful storage container! Thank you for showing the how the various notions and fabric can be organized, such a great space saver! Thanks again!
I love going to Harbor Freight! I’ve been wanting one of the adjustable work tables for awhile. Love the magnetic bowls and the wands. My grandsons like to sneak my wand to play with, lol. I got to meet Ray this past weekend when she was at a little mini retreat with Freddie, Cynthia and some other friends. I was invited to walk down the street from my house and visit for a bit. I got to see their show and share items they brought. Ray does beautiful work! It was a treat!
Thanks so much for this! I've been watching a while and this is a great idea. While it's not new to shop in hardware section, sometimes inspiration just hits! I found a similar cart from Walmart ($99 Hyper Tough Tool Cart) which has only two drawers and a top that opens. I store interfacing in the top, tools in drawers, and my extra machine below. Took me half hour to put together and only need my daughter to help once with the lifting. Walmart also had a 3 pack with two of the trays and the telescoping magnet for anyone not near HF.
The various warehouses selling the construction doodads are suddenly going to be running short on their toolboxes because all the sewing | quilting | various crafts and art people will be swooping in to snatch them all up - you sold me, that's for sure 😊
Usually I stay in the vehicle while my husband goes in Harbor Freight. I can sure envision that tool box in my sewing area, so next time I'm going inside with him, lol! Maybe when the the lid is closed, you could put a cutting mat on top for a handy cutting surface. Thanks so much, and thank your friend too, for an informative and fun video :)
I am a male quilter and my quilting room (20x30’) is a carbon copy of my main workshop using all cabinets and tools from harbor freight. No frills for me just lots of quilts. Love your ideas. Have used them since HF opened. ❤👍🏻
I love the idea of using the tool box for storage. I have always wanted to make quilts. I tryed it a few times . Made a big mess . Felt guilty for settling in the messc, when I should be cleaning house .my grandmother would send us quilts every once in a while. She sent my sister and I each the wedding ring pattern. Mine had a lot of red and hers blue. I worked until I was 70 years old. So never has a lot of time. I'm 80 now, when I sew I still use my mothers Singer feather weight I crochet now that I have time.
@@thesimplequilter7499 another quilt my grandmother sent me was a fan. It was my favorite. I don't know the name of the pattern. It had fans all over it. That is the one I tryed to make. I go a few squares made, thay sat in the box for years..If i had room i would try it again. I live with my son. There's no room for my yarn ,and no space to cut and sew
That is tough Jane. I love to knit too. If you’re not suffering from arthritis try socks! It looks complicated but isn’t really, and all the yarn, needles etc are small! My husband loves his hand knitted socks and so do my kids!! Good luck!!
About a year ago we transformed the downstairs living room into my sewing "Studio" LOL Make me smile just saying that!😊 The one thing I KNEW i wanted (and have wanted for a LONG TIME)...is a tool box like this for my sewing space. I'll try and remember to take a few photos I also labeled the contents of each drawer. I agree...this is a GREAT addition to my new sewing space.. I'll have to go back and check out some of those magnetic accessories!!!
I love Harbor Freight. I sent my 2 children to collage with tool kits put together there and they were very popular in their dorms! I never thought of them for quilting but after your last posting I had my husband pick my up a magnetic bowl and I love it! And you!!!
I’m not a quilter but I am a storage fanatic and I’m always looking for the right storage for my crafts. I love that you repurposed this tool chest. I’m a stamper/card maker and I can visualize many of my supplies in this chest. I’m also a stitcher and the wooden chest that your friend has would be perfect for all my threads and floss drops. Thanks so much for sharing. You did a great job at expanding my “needs”! 😂
Hello, my new friend, I went to Harbor Freight this afternoon, and I bought a blue magnetic bowl. I was talking to the man who worked there and telling him about your video, I told him don't be too surprised if he sees more ladies coming in to buy products for their sewing rooms. He smiled and said a lady came in just the other day and bought the tool chest, It was just like yours, color and all. How about that? You should also let your viewers know about the different size hemostats; they are perfect for turning fabric right side out. I am a happy seamstress/ quilter and saving money on great items thank you.
@@thesimplequilter7499 I feel like a kid in a candy store and my husband loves it, because it is the one place he can go and enjoy shopping for himself as well lol.
If I only had the room I’d get one myself to use. I bought a small table on wheel from a used office supply store years ago while I was working for a daycare and used it as my printer stand & overflow. When I left I took it with me. I’ve used it in my office for my own printer. Last year I decided to make it my cutting station (30”x42”) and bought a mat that lays on top. There’s a shelf underneath where I store three office totes and overflow batting on top of these. It’s on wheels so I can roll it up to me & my “Ultimate Sewing Cabinet”when I sew, or away when I used my office as an office. Otherwise I’d get the tool chest myself & make it for my sewing storage. Great suggestion!
In live in Canada and I bought a 3 piece rolling cart by Mastercraft at Canadian Tire store (the are red in color)that fits from the smallest tote on top, then the middle size and large one on bottom. It has large wheels and a telescoping handle to transport like luggage. The 3 pieces come apart. I use it when I go to my quilting group. I put my sewing machine in the bottom largest compartment. Sewing project in middle tote and sewing accessories in smallest. I wish I could post a picture of it. The top tote was sectioned off and I popped it out so I could put my sewing tools in it. I use the popped out plastic section on my desk to store scissors, rulers pens etc. It's amazing what you can find at automotive stores for using in our quilting rooms.
I just found you today when I saw the Harbor Freight video. I love this video with the ideas of how to repurpose a tool box for quilting supplies. It is amazing how much could be put in there. I used to go to a beauty shop that where each hair dresser had her own tool box that held all her supplies. It was really cute.
I watched that video, too, & loved all your wonderful tips. I shared your video with several of my guilty friends. In the comments on that video, I asked how quilters might use these “toolboxes.” Thank you so much for this & all the possibilities you demonstrated. WOW! Thank your sweet Wes for his contribution to this awesomeness! I must ask, please: Did Wes get his “toolbox” back? I would have had an extremely difficult time returning it to him! LOL! Thank you, again! I must check these out! I bet if I made a proper top covering, I could use this for cutting, ironing. ❤
I have that same wooden tool box from Harbor Freight. I use mine to store all my extra Bernina feet, my needles, bobbins, extra scissors, USB sticks and a few extra things. I do love it.
Another plus with the tool box like you got is the bigger wheels roll okay on carpet. That was one of the reasons I wanted one. Though I don't think I will be getting one because we are going to move in with one of our daughters, I still really enjoyed this video. And Roger has a wooden chest that is not as big as the one your friend has...and he offered it to me when his friend gave it to him, but I told him no, your friend gave it to you. But oh, I wanted it so bad. Now that he is past working on things, I may just take it and use it.
Brilliant, simply a beautiful idea. I like the idea of lining the drawers with something else, other than that black mat, that's for a mechanics tools. Great video, thanks for the ideas. Your very smart.
I bought the red metal tool box for my sewing room. I just love it. Thank you so much for letting us know about all the goodies we sewists can purchase at Harbor Freight. God Bless. 😊❤❤

Really nice video!! I love your tip on foldin the fabric into little squares! My daddy had an antique wooden toolbox almost just like the one you showed! I can’t believe they still make em! Thanks for the tip! Really enjoyed your video Thanks ✌️
Did your husband get his cart back?😂 Love all the information about the cart and accessories. I would like some of those magnetic shelves for my kitchen fridge to expand my storage. Love the green color. I need it for my home tool storage. Pegboard and tool bench not enough useful storage
I have the wooden chest and use it for jewelry. I love it and I love your idea of the other tool chests for my sewing room. I’m going to look at different sizes. Thank you.
I have had my eye on these tool boxes for several years. I like that they have bright colors now, besides the red. Not that I don’t like red; I do. But the red has been out so long, it kinda screams, “Man’s tool box,” to me! 😂 I really appreciate you doing this review; you have shown lots of good ideas for both of them! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My draw to these is that I want to make an ironing station, on wheels, that is wide enough to iron 45” fabric w/o hvg to reposition it all the time (side to side, then front to back, etc! It’s so tedious! And I want storage underneath. I think the metal wd work well for ironing with a pad on top, and you cd put magnets to hold it on, or use one of those dryer top ironing mats. I just have to find the right size. I also wish the bottom cabinet had doors on, to keep the dust out. Or else a really deep drawer. My only other concern is that they are so heavy. TFS! 🌷
They are heavy!!! HF has done wooden tool benches that might work. Some have drawers. You can buy wheels at HB and add them. I would be afraid the moisture and heat would cause the metal to rust. Home Depo and Lowe’s also have other options.
@@thesimplequilter7499 Yes, I would put down a vapor barrier such as several layers of heavy duty aluminum foil and tape it with aluminum tape across the seam so that no moisture could get through. They weigh a minimum of 200 pounds! I saw a 46 inch one that weighed 300 pounds! The ones that are better made, according to the reviews, don’t have a top on them, though.
Just went to Harbor Freight and got the tools you recommended in a previous video. Love them. In about 2 weeks they are having a sale on the tool carts. Yay! I might just be getting one of those as well. Thank you for sharing! 😊
After watching your trip to harbor freight I wanted to go to the new one in our town. I bought the grips, extention magnetic wand ,picked another one for my besty. I couldn't believe all the industrial storage unit on wheels. I have limited space and a ton of this and that .thank you for sharing .I will be continue to watch your page
I love this I have a hard plastic rolling tool chest from Walmart that I store all my stuff in, but I like these colorful metal ones better. I need 1 or 2 or 3
Hi wished we had harbor freight over here. My first thought is its a great height for putting a wool mat on half and a rotating cutting mat on the other half. The small steam iron would fit easily into the storage below., it would give me more space on my sewing table.
Love the way you used that green cart. Like you, I would want the red! It holds so much, amazing! I have the wooden chest your friend shared, and I keep precious supplies in mine. I would love to have another one. New sub, I enjoy your ideas and creative content!
I have a different version of the wooden tool box your friend has. I love I’ve it!! I keep the smalls item for both quilting & cross Stitch in it. I would be out looking for one if I didn’t have it. Your friends is nicer than mine but has the same layout. I bought mine at Sam’s Club many years ago.❤❤ Thr tool cabinet is also a wonderful idea. Thanks for the wonderful tips,,👏👏👏❤
I am thinking my husband is going to lose his toolbox! Lol. He has a really large one and one that is the size you showed. Hmmm. Maybe I’ll let him keep the small one. Hubby’s is from Mac Tools so no go but did say I can get one from Harbor Freight! Yeah. Thank you for this great idea!!
My cutting table is from Home Depot and I love it because it is adjustable! I think we find some of the best solutions for storage when we think outside the box!
When I go to my sewing group the Nite Owls Guild and it's raining I use my wagon to bring my sewing project and items that I use. I use the plastic throw covers to protect my things in the bad weather.
If it was pink I bet it would be $300 more - I would put a couple of irons on the bottom and a cutting mat & wool mat on the top and use for ironing. I think I saw one in white that I could tart up with stickers!
I do not know the model number but it is the 5 drawer rolling tool chest. I did not see it online. It says the dimensions are 30" wide but with the handle attached, it measured 34" because I wanted to see if it would fit in my room. Lol!
Oh no 😮 i did not know you can cut up a ruler with a rotary cutter!! I hope he did not get hurt those things are sharp. I know because I cut my finger once and that was a little cut THANK GOD!
Thanks to your husband (Les) we can now see the possibilities that a tool box can provide in a craft room. Wow who knew that there was so much storage. I love it on wheels. It would be a fabulous cutting station or an iron station. If you used the top storage for extra things that you do not need unless you need to replenish something. I love the container storage. That is 8 quilt project in the works!!! I love the rulers on the side the accessories you can add on the sides. The colors while they are beautiful like a brand new car 😊 would not fit my decor in my craft room 😢. Thanks for sharing 🤗
I just bought one, and I have found that separating all my notions like zippers, webbing, snaps, etc. is the biggest blessing.

My draw to these is that I want to make an ironing station, on wheels, that is wide enough to iron 45” fabric w/o hvg to reposition it all the time (side to side, then front to back, etc!
Saw that wooden box today and I fell in love with it. It is beautiful
Rae sure likes it!
I have looked at that wooden tool box for years at Harbor Freight and always thought it would make a great sewing chest.
Now you know!!!
Just went to Harbor Freight and got the tools you recommended in a previous video. Love them. In about 2 weeks they are having a sale on the tool carts. Yay! I might just be getting one of those as well. Thank you for sharing! 😊
Me too!!! I am waiting for them to go on sale!
I love the quilt behind you. ❤❤
Thank you!
Pretty neat right? I go now every time Wes asks!!!
I love this I have a hard plastic rolling tool chest from Walmart that I store all my stuff in, but I like these colorful metal ones better. I need 1 or 2 or 3
I am considering two!!! I think I will wait for the next sale!
Love this tool box idea!
Thanks!
Thank you so much for the great idea. I have no place in my sewing room either but I may look into some reorganizing and replace something else.
I’ve been thinking what I could move out but cabinets and table are built in!
Loveharborfreight. I use a small clear tool box to take to retreats for my tools. Also use a Stanley tape measure for measuring quilts.
Thanks for sharing Carol!
Love this idea! I'm off to Harbor Freight! 😊
Watch for them on sale!!!
Thank you! I believe I will be visiting my local Harbor Freight store very soon. 🤗
Have fun!
Hi wished we had harbor freight over here. My first thought is its a great height for putting a wool mat on half and a rotating cutting mat on the other half. The small steam iron would fit easily into the storage below., it would give me more space on my sewing table.
So many options!
I'm new to your channel and am so happy! Your hints and suggestions are fabulous! Thanks for sharing!
Glad you like them!
Welcome to my channel!
Marvelous!
Yes!!!!
Love the way you used that green cart. Like you, I would want the red! It holds so much, amazing! I have the wooden chest your friend shared, and I keep precious supplies in mine. I would love to have another one. New sub, I enjoy your ideas and creative content!
Welcome and thanks for subscribing!
I would love it if you can come up with an idea for a display wall using items from Harbor freight.
Hmmmmm….
Thank you!
I love how you contained your needles in that container! Where did you find it?❤
You can find a container like that in the bead / jewelry section probably at Hobby Lobby, Michael’s or JoAnn’s.

I use a tackle box for a sewing box works so great and much cheaper than an actual sewing box
Yes! I use a tool box also!
These are nowhere near the quality of a Mac or SnapOn, but for our uses at home they are quite good.
Watch for them to go on sale!!!
Have fun!
I've often thought of that when I go to Home Depot and look at those cool tool caddy thingys...
My cutting table is from Home Depot and I love it because it is adjustable! I think we find some of the best solutions for storage when we think outside the box!
Great video. Makes me want one. Red of course!
Red of course!!! The green looks neat also!!!!
I have one in my sewing room. It is fantastic.
Lucky you!
Boy I may to move some stuff around my sewing room to accommodate this. Very cool Michelle!! ❤

Thanks a lot
When I go to my sewing group the Nite Owls Guild and it's raining I use my wagon to bring my sewing project and items that I use. I use the plastic throw covers to protect my things in the bad weather.
Great tip !
A trip to harbor freight is in my future!
Enjoy!
Thus is so informative. I really want to do these. Where do I get these animals

Lol!
I have had this in yellow for awhile, the height is great for cutting...Harbor Frieght is not expensive
Hope to get one soon!
I use a metal tool box for quilt storage unit. Fits exactly under the IKEA table I bought for a cutting table.
Sounds great!
You got me going to H.F. I want to get the plastic box you have your sewon machine needles in. Where did you get it. Frances
😢
Here is my Amazon link for that case: amzn.to/40gIAC5
What’s the container you have your needles in? I’d love one of those carts in white.
San Dan, I hope to get one in white! Here is the link for my needle case: amzn.to/40gIAC5
@@thesimplequilter7499 - that’s such a great way to organize needles, thanks for sharing!
If it was pink I bet it would be $300 more - I would put a couple of irons on the bottom and a cutting mat & wool mat on the top and use for ironing. I think I saw one in white that I could tart up with stickers!
Lots of options for sure!
Harbor freight has found safe harbor in my studio - no pun intended.
Awesome!!!
Do you know how tall this is with the cover closed?
between 41-42"
Do u know the model number and/or dimensions of this cabinet. Looking in website and not finding it.
I do not know the model number but it is the 5 drawer rolling tool chest. I did not see it online. It says the dimensions are 30" wide but with the handle attached, it measured 34" because I wanted to see if it would fit in my room. Lol!
Thank you. I wish I would have put my rotary cutter away. One of the kids cut up one of my rulers with the cutter😢
Sounds like it can happen.
❤
Thank you!
