I bought magnets (cheap) at the hardware store and glued them on the underside of pretty dishes. They work very well and in one case I added a thin piece of cork to keep them from sliding around. Ikea sells cork placemats that are easy to trim. They also work well underneath tins.
I’ve done programs for local guilds on this topic. The dollar store and big box hardware stores are also good sources for quilting tools like: - masking tape - small tape measure with clip to carry in my purse - utility knife
I love it!!!! I’ve already gone to HF to get a few supplies. Something else that would be great to get is the magnetic bar. I have this on a counter front next to my table. I throw my scissors, pins, and anything else that will stick on it while I’m sewing.
So funny, I have all the items you showed in the video, plus some additional magnets to use as sewing guide. I also have many other tools (way cheaper than any other place) that I use for my jewelry making needs.
I have two of the suction handles that I use with my rulers. I got them at Goodwill for $2.99. If you buy them at a quilt shop, you'd be looking at $20.00. I also use the magnetic bowl for my pins. Just found your videos ... thank you!
I love the long magnets. I have one mounted on the side of my sewing table, holds all sorts of tools, out of the way. At home I have one on the side of my fridge that holds knives... super handy to have. the rest of what you showed, I already have at home, and at the church quilt space as well
I have the drywall up and painted, and the wood stained and sealed, but I am taking a break from renovating so I can do some sewing. I'll start it back up this fall/winter when the weather turns, or if I get a minute when I have nothing else going on
Yes I have heard this, II need to grab some and try to sharpen some pins. My pins are about as sharp as butter knives lol. The little strawberry that's attached to the tomato pincushions are for sharpening needles, but for some reason I always loose mine 🙃
They have a magnet like that but with a half inch 3 inch and on it picks up all spilt pens a lot faster plus, you can run it across the carpet and it’ll pick up pins that you don’t see that you might not fine with that one. I like the gardening gloves at dollar tree a lot better or the ones in the automotive department. And they’re only a dollar and a quarter.
Harbor Freight has lots of useful things. I would've liked your video more if it had chapters. Also, please don't our waste time by telling us what you didn't buy.

Magnetic bowls for the win!! We have like 20 in our studio. 😂

What a great deal! Super jealous of that one!!!

I’ve already got the magnetic holders from there but thank you about the suction handle- it’s on my list 😊
Thank you!
I bought a suction handle for my large rulers that were designed for quilters. It cost $18.00. The harbor freight option was much cheaper.
How is the renovation going? Thanks for sharing

Thanks!
I just bought the magnetic bowl last week at HF!
If I missed your favorite sewing notion from Harbor Freight drop it in the comments!
I read somewhere that you can use steel wool to sharpen your pins and needles instead of buying new ones. Has anyone else tried this?

If you have a computerized sewing machine, keep all magnets far away to prevent damage to the components!
Thank you for the reminder! 💕
Thank you
Look at their carpet cutter blades. Some fit a 45mm rotary cutter and may be less expensive than rotary cutter replacement blades.

Laser light attached to machine to show seam line
Fyi...the magnetic pin holder will magnetize forever all the pins, and your scissors, too.
They sell a demagnetizer thing too. Might be useful even without that particular holder
Telescoping magnet
Use the words"less expensive". IT TRANSLATE BETTE!
I like “cheaper.”
