Quilting is for everyone! Get your free quilting patterns, tips and tricks here!
You may know me from Tiktok, where I share mostly quilting videos. I started this channel to create more in-depth tutorials and to share my love of quilting, but was so excited to continue making videos as more and more people join aling!
I have been quilting for 10+ years, with many, many years watching my mother quilt before that. I am mostly self-taught, I have no 'professional' training. Just hours and hours of research and lots of trial and error. My goal is to make quilting more accessible to those who are interested but not ready to jump in. I swear it's not as hard as you think! It doesn't have to be an expensive hobby either!
New videos are uploaded randomly & lives are scheduled a couple days out as life allows!

How To Make A Rail Fence Quilt From Two Jelly Rolls (Free Pattern)
Do you have Jelly Rolls laying around that need to be made into something but you are uninspired of what pattern to make? Do you need to make a quick gift for a loved one? Well I have a quick quilt pattern to help use up some of your stash!
What is your favorite Jelly Roll Pattern?
I made this quilt top in 8.5 hours, over the course of 3 days (because life happens.) I realize that fudging seams and flying by the seat of your pants is not for everyone, which if its not your cup of tea then square the blocks to 10.5 (on all four sides, not just on two.) I do break the #1 quilting rule- 1/4 inch seam allowances. But at least i break them in the 'safer' way, which is more seam allowance rather ...

Thrifting for Fabric - I'm making a Quilt Coat!

I went thrifting for Fabric to make a quilt coat from recycled/reused/donated fabric. I found the mother load of crafting material at a non-profit organization in San Antonio that the goal is to keep crafting material out of the landfills and to offer it back to the community! SparePartsSA.org is the location I visited, but there may be a creative reuse near you if that's too far away. PLEASE l...

I would love to hear how YOU price your labor, and why. Please keep the discussion civil, we are all artists and my channel is me...

Arrow Hydraulic Sewing Chair: Unboxing and My Honest Opinion
I love the quilt. Great idea.
Is the Tiny Spool fabric good quality? I was just looking at it on Amazon and it got good reviews.
I've made two quilts with Tinyspool now, I love the quality. It has a very nice feel to it, I even turned one into a quilt coat. I'm going to order more soon
Nice quilt. If you do a good finger press after each strip your seams will not curve. It's an extra step & you would still need to give it a good press with the iron but you don't have to worry about which direction to add the next strip.
That's a beautiful quilt!
I love this - it’s beautiful 😍
Thanks for the tip of looking at them in black and white..
Nice!! I love this!!
Your quilt top is very pretty. As a new quilter I think I can manage making one but will have to cut strips from my stash as buying precuts are too pricey for me. I really enjoy your tutorials, keep them coming!
You did an amazing job, I love it!
I bought a roll of the Tiny Spools jelly rolls and really liked them. I bought them off Amazon and the price was really good. I love your colors.
If you are curious as to why your strip set will curve when you sew all in One direction, it's the function of the feed dogs. Every time the feed dogs push the fabric sandwich forward, the bottom fabric gets pushed just a fraction of an inch further, creating a gathering effect. The result on long seams is a curve. If you didn't want to reverse your starting point on every other strip, you could sew all the strip sets together using your walking foot. The walking foot creates an even gather in harmony with the feed dogs.
That is nice looking.
I’m pretty good at fudging things too.
Very nice.
Before you take the band off the jelly roll, run a sticky roller over the pinked edges a few times. REALLY helps with the fuzz mess! Don't forget both sides of the jelly roll!
I will DEFINITELY do this next time! Thank you!!! 🩷
Turned out really cute. I don't let the quilt police bother me either. Thanks for sharing
What rules do you break when piecing a quilt top?
Those colours are amazing 😍💜 I only started quilting in July, made a few quilts so far. I decided I wanted to make an easy pattern recently, so did the rail fence in pastel colours but added white sashing between each block. Looking at the picture of the blocks laid out on the bed prior to sewing them all together, I'm thinking it looked better without sashing, so I'll make another in the near future without sashing 😊 💜
All of them lol My 1/4 isn’t great. I fudge a lot. I can’t remember when I last changed my blade. My top and bottom thread doesn’t always match and often I run out of one long before I realise. I don’t starch anymore I just steam. I don’t iron to the dark side, I usually iron open. I don’t do mitered corners on binding. I use bedsheets for backing. And, lastly, when someone says “you should never” or “stop doing that and do this instead” watch but I’ll probably ignore. Haha Ok glad there are quilters out there that are anti “quilt police”. It’s so sad that I still sometimes see them in comments. 😂
All of them lol the only time the quilt police matter is if you're entered into a competition that might make a difference to the outcome in awards. That being said no one buying or being gifted a quilt is going to sit with a magnifying glass criticizing. They will love it! Don't stress, just enjoy!
My first few quilts, nothing got pressed and the points didn't match up at all. I've started pressing seams though. My binding method is 100% made up and is completely different from literally any other binding I've seen. It's easy though and it works!
I rarely pin or clip. I only make quilts for me or family, and my skills are better than when I started, but it's OK to me if the points don't perfectly match. If the block is really wonky I'll do it over, but if the seams are sturdy and I like the pattern results and the quilt will keep someone warm, that's OK to me. I love seeing the champion quilts at the quilt show, but that isn't in my future.
Yes!!! What a success!
In my personal opinion, using a 100% cotton flat sheet is the best backing. I been doing it for over a decade now. Feels a lot better than quilt backing fabric or muslin, imo.
Such beautiful piecing and your colors are just dreamy! “My moment” comes to mind! She is beautiful. What were your thoughts when YOU created her? This would be her best name🧡🧡🧡🧵
Hi there, so glad I came across this video. I'm hoping to make my first quilt and was looking for alternatives. Someone has previously mentioned using the cheap throws sold by Ikea...I belive they're called Thorgun??? They are quite thin so could I just double them up?
🙌♥️🙌
"Tomorrow"
I might learn to quilt just to make one of these! I love this!
Amazing, totally awesome
❤❤❤❤. Name...... Sunday Dreaming. It's absolutely brilliant and beautiful
I get depressed and eventually I clean, my disaster zones. The stove, the couch, etc… not everything needs attention at the same moment thank god! My puppy loves it when I make the bed. So it gets more attention! Also I rarely leave a pin dropped, as I like to be bare foot 🦶, and reality bites. Perhaps this is key to being neat, but I haven’t achieved it yet.😂❤😂
Awesome! ❤
Melania.
Beautiful fiming... Very nice Lady . "Gentle Lady"
I love this.
Oh wow! I have no words!! I love this. You are so very talented.
Mriya, it means dream/inspiration It’s Ukrainian (I think), possibly Russian It’s a lovely quilt ❤
She is Us. Stunning!
OMG, I love that!!! ❤️ It works so well! All my friends & family have different interpretations of her, what she is doing, what she is thinking, and what she is feeling.
Joy!
Same as comment #1
Wonder would be an interesting name
@@cat2moon2 I love that!
Thank you for your great information and for sharing!! ❤
It's cold outside so I am doing some relaxing collage quilting ❤
My grandma used to make quilts for everyone in the family (It's a huge family) I think by the time she stopped making them, she had made something like 80-ish quilts in total. She used to buy second-hand clothing and use them as materials for the quilts because it was cheaper than buying new fabric. It was one of the many things she was famous in the family for (those and her knitted slippers). Making quilts at home takes some serious dedication. I don't think people realize that you can't just zip a quilt around in a normal sewing machine to stitch the layers together (unless you had a specialty machine for that which is INSANELY expensive) and you have to hand-stitch that step. Really, truly, handicrafts are severely undervalued. There will always be ignorant people who just don't get it. But on the positive side of things, I think, thanks to videos like these, there is more and more recognition occurring every day. I lot of people are stepping away from the cheap mass-produced stuff, and starting to lean back into the quality home-made products.
Bought a longarm in 2018. I can say with confidence that that they do not mind at all someone test driving a machine. It is a big decision and we all know that you need to get a feel for the machine as well as whether free-motion would suit your situation better than robotics.
That's great to know! Thanks. I do think that I need more time to decide what is best for me. For now my mom's midarm works fine for what I need. I am close to being ready for an upgrade and ine of my own, but I am overwhelmed with all the options and I want to make sure I get exactly what I need/want and not jump into anything that I will regret.
Agree, agree, agree.
I saved and bought a Bernina Q24 Qmatic longarm. It is amazing and I have no regrets
I didn't get a chance to test drive a Bernina, I am going to not get in a hurry to buy that way I can test drive all of the major brands and make an informed decision. I'll add the Bernina to my list for the next one to test out! Thank you!
My husband and I were there Saturday, and I was surprised by how much he enjoyed the quilts..he also called them works of art (which they are)
Hope you look around locally to rent a longarm for one hour. Trust me. I am personally acquainted with two major longarm retailers and I can assure you that they do not mind at all someone test driving a machine. It is a big decision and we all know that you need to get a feel for the machine as well as whether free-motion would suit your situation better than robotics. I am a robotics person myself. My sister purchased an A-1 years ago before having two Gammills running Creative Stitch (robotics). She is an artist and quite creative like you are. I am more of a technical person. Before I bought mine (2018)I also took time to take a one hour "Use This Machine" class and quilted a small 40"x45" top to give away. Familiarity with a machine is critical. Free motion operators can work well with a 22"-24" throat space. With robotics 26" minimum. I wish I was not 5'1" tall because if I was taller I would get a 30" or 32" throat space. I was lucky because the longarm retailers here are so kind and know their machines and software well. I ended up buying the Innova and have had more fun and productivity than I ever dreamed. I am not a professional but purchased Art and Stitch drawing software ($$$) to help tweak patterns and optimize for my very limited use.
What are your top 3 longarms that you are considering?
Thank you for sharing your quilting adventure.
Hi Kayla, been awhile but I’m sure glad you posted this video. I love the jackets and I hope there is more video of your trip and I would love to see your quilt that was in the festival.
