Ren Diaries: See our skill building in Week 2 + Future Foundations!

  • Ren's learning about life still this week, along with building confidence, balance and engagement in all sorts of different places, surfaces and spaces. I answer a few of your questions, such as "what is Ren's job going to be?!". I also added some examples of the end results - let me know if you like that or not, I can always add more 🤓
    🚨 PLEASE watch Week 1, you must know the foundations, our ethos, AND why you should not get this breed of dog, especially if you are not committed to (or enjoy!) daily training sessions for the next 15 years, management of behaviours, have at least one "job" for the dog to do. These dogs are not pets, they are working machines and will become dangerous and destructive if not prepared for life or managed properly. Thank you to all the other owners who contributed with their experience in the Week 1 comments, and I'm glad I'm handling this as safely as I can 🙏 🚨 Week 1 ➡️ • Meet Ren & see what we...
    Week 2 is always a bit of a reinforcement week, paired with healthy doses of safe socilasation & desensitisation, which all kicks into real action in Week 3 and 4 when our puppy vaccines are fully "installed", taking over from the parental immunity delivered from the mums milk. Mum's milk is powerful stuff though, lasting 2-4 months to protect from nasties in the environment, which is pretty cool to be honest, considering that dose of antibodies is delivered in the first 24 hours of life!
    We're entering the most critical weeks to expose Ren to as many things as possible (safely) to prepare her for everything she may experience in the future. We'll cover that next week!
    🙏 Be sure to subscribe to our channel for weekly content on all things photography 🙏

    Another brilliant training video :) I love that you are banging into things and she is not reacting, as belgians can become very noise sensitive at times.

    I LOVE how you explain what you're doing and that you are so down to earth and real. I really enjoy the process and am using what I've learned from you with my own puppy (5 month old Golden Retriever). Between my dog and what I've learned from you, people think I'm a genius. LOL!

    This is inspiring. Amazing what you can achieve when you know what you are doing. Too many of us have dogs that we don't have enough time for training-wise but then I don't plan to compete so I've settled for less, like sock retrieval from the washing basket. Why is it that dogs like socks so much?😅

    • @ThatPhotographySpot
      @ThatPhotographySpot  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you for the kind words 🙏🏼 This is sooo true, there are so many people who get a dog because they are cute without actually realising the time and dedication that that dog will require. Or they see a well trained dog and think that it is like that from a puppy without realising the daily training over weeks, months and years to have a well trained dog 🙈

    These are sooo nice to watch!! I definitely wouldn't mind more clips of her "chill time" between other stuff! ;v;
    Also, I don't remember how strict you wanted to be with the heel, but I see you're always rewarding with hand kinda on the side! Which definitely tucks her butt nice and straight, but her gait is starting to develop a little crooked! Just a tiny bit I noticed, having the hand straight ahead or above could fix that bit. But this is nitpicking, you're doing awesome. XD
    Super job, so fun seeing her little recall getting better and better!! 😭❤️

    • @ThatPhotographySpot
      @ThatPhotographySpot  5 месяцев назад

      Honestly, in her chill time it is pretty boring as she tends to nap ... which I am so jealous of 🤣 Other than that she enjoys a little play and a good chew toy like a nylabone 😊
      Thank you for the tip on the crooked gait correction 🙏🏼 At the moment her heel work isn't super important to us but I will keep this in mind when doing heel work 🙏🏼

      They are right for the 0.00001% of the population and if you don't understand the breed and know what you are getting yourself you should not get one at all. These are not for the feint hearted but in the right homes they are absolutely amazing dogs 😊 There will be many pictures of Ren so I apologise in advance 🙈

      @ThatPhotographySpot exactly! I'm glad you said that! They take a lot of work, time, and commitment. But for someone who LOVES training dogs, and has a lot of education and experience, and really loves working with their dogs, EVERY DAY, they can be so rewarding. It's a lifestyle commitment. But they can also make you want to pull your hair out haha. Can't wait to watch your journey!

    gorgeous baby Ren Bear 😍 loving having weekly videos back, missed it. Also love to see you riding amazing work with Tuna in the arena, I really miss riding my horse sadly my Ehlers danlos syndrome has put me in a wheelchair now. Also can I ask just out of curiosity did you get taught how to train dogs? You’re amazing at it

      @@ThatPhotographySpot wow that’s amazing as you do amazing job with training as always which is absolutely evident by Rens progress, you could’ve done dog training as a business so talented at so many things. Loving seeing her growth every week. training is one of my favs too, training my miniature poodle puppy gradually up to be a assistance dog right from day one of having her was an amazing experience even if I did get a dog trainer saying that I shouldn’t be doing training sessions with a puppy instead just let a puppy be a puppy but it was just a little gentle session a day much like you’re doing and many play and free time, but I felt it was essential training so she knows simple things and gradually building up to what her job requires, plus she hardly ever slept and was a little Duracell puppy, never known a puppy like it 😂 glad to see I’m not the only person who thinks it’s important to start a puppy training from week 1, they love it and now I see how it paid off with my girl who’s nearly 9yrs. Wish you the best with Ren bear

    • @ThatPhotographySpot
      @ThatPhotographySpot  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah of course! Canicross is running with dogs on special harnesses out in front of you. Dan does this with our three workers. He wants to run further, if possible, than his usual 12-15 miles off road.
      Bikejor is essentially the same, only the dog is attached to a mountain bike and you do crazy fast tracks, often in woodlands or forests - it’s a bit scary 🤣

    • @suerichardson1289
      @suerichardson1289 5 месяцев назад

      Thanks Jess. I thought you said Bikejor, but with your “accent” I wasn’t sure that was what you said! 😄 I haven’t heard of Canicross before, I’ll have to look that up. Dan does 12-15 miles, that’s just crazy, maybe he should do a running bootcamp!

    Kind of a random question, have you left Ren alone yet (in his kennel of course) as in left the house for any amount of time? Also, ironically I'm following the same training system an the one thing my 10 week old English bulldog is not quite getting is staying in a down position for more then a second,,, making teaching flat down impossible,,,, other then that I love seeing Ren an my Toby's training comparison 😀

    I am just curious about your opinion on dog breed similarities as Ren is a high energy dog & we are planning to purchase a Rhodesian Ridgeback next year & they too are high energy & apparently can be tricky to train

    • @ThatPhotographySpot
      @ThatPhotographySpot  6 месяцев назад

      Apples and oranges so impossible to put them in the same camp. Check out the breed groups (Hound vs Pastoral) and ask owners for their own experience with Ridgebacks vs other breeds for the best examples ☺️
