  • How To install the Akishop PCB from www.focusattack.com into a PlayStation 3 FightStick. Part 2: • How To Install an Akis...
    This video is aimed at beginners, and is therefor rather lengthy (2 parts) due to long explanations. The goal is to help you understand the decisions and process of the modification, so that you can apply it to future projects and actually learn something, rather than just following along.
    Wiring guides:
    6 wire ribbon cable:
    ------------------------------
    1 (red) - L1
    2 - X
    3 - O
    4 - R2
    5 - L2
    6 - Ground
    5 wire ribbon cable:
    ------------------------------
    1 (red) - Start
    2 - Select
    3 - Square
    4 - Triangle
    5 - R1
    Joystick harness:
    ------------------------------
    1 - Black = Ground
    2 - Green = Right
    3 - Yellow = Left
    4 - Orange = Up
    5 - Red = Down
    If you chose to use the stock harness w/ 5 black wires, the ground pin/wire is the one closest to the top (or back) of the stick.

    From the install PDF:
    "The 12th button is the Turbo button but because not many people use the Turbo function in games you can have 11 buttons instead...and still be able to switch modes between PS3 & 360..."
    "2. Hold down the Turbo button (or the Select/Back button if you have 11 button setup)."
    ^ So, just hold down your Select button as you plug it in instead.
    If you don't already have a PS360 and you're buying a PS360+, it won't be the same. Download the manual from Focus Attack for the +.

    I've gotten this question for all of my videos. I usually say the same thing: they're labeled. But I have a Brawl Stick, so I went and looked. If you're looking inside the stick with the bottom toward you, the main PCB order is: unmarked (probably ground? test it), Start, Select, square, triangle, L1.Next set: L2, x, o, R1, R2, Ground.

    @YGT224 Yes, because you are essentially replacing any logic board with the Akishop PS360 PCB, it would work in any arcade stick with a joystick and buttons (or a custom built stick). The modification process for making the Mad Catz turbo/home PCB interface with the Akishop PCB should be the exact same.

    Awesome video. :) I just got the Tatsunoko vs. Capcom fightstick for the Wii. Not sure if I can mod it like you have, but it's nice to see the options available for modding.

    @destinationskyline First, thanks for sitting through 20+ minutes of my rambling. I'm sorry you didn't find the information you were looking for.
    There are 2 extra wires. A ground wire and a VCC (power) wire. I talk about where you solder them to the Guide/Turbo PCB in part 1 at 8:50. I talk about where you screw them into the ChImp in part 2 at 9:50.

    PokeFighter, the Akishop is probably the only PCB you can get that is a dual-mod replacement, so it's probably your only way to go. I believe that the instructions for the AkiShop show you how to wire it so that you can use button combinations such as start + select or various kicks and punches (it's all running together for me right now) so you don't have to have a home/guide button.

    @filipegabrielpoa Not yet, but I plan on making one in the coming weeks. It's not too bad if you got the full wiring kit from Focus Attack. There's some soldering involved and the same trickery to access the home button from this video.

    Yes. The components are the same between the SE and the TE. They just have different cases. Process should be remarkably similar.

    Hey man great tutorial but I have one question. Is there anyway I can connect the +D and -D wires from the already existing cable to the PS360 PCB board?

  • @destinationskyline

    I can not seem to get my guide and turbo buttons working. PS3 stick and a PS360. You mentioned you had to add another wire to the ORIGINAL pcb but you do not mention where you solder this wire. You also do not mention where this wire goes (does it attatch to PS360 or solder onto another wire?). Please advise as I believe the missing portions are whats causing my Turbo+Guide to not function.

    you plug in turbo and home wires in the same slot on 360+ under home and guide?!

    You mentioned holding turbo and plugging it in to switch platforms between PS3 and 360 in part 2. What if I want the PS360 pcb but don't want a turbo button at all? I plan to custom make a case with no turbo. How will I switch platforms then?

    Thanks for your help. I'll go with the ps360 then. Only problem now is they're all sold out or I cant get them in the uk. As soon as I find one though I'll go with that.

    I assume the turbo light does not work anymore, when the new pcb is in?
    Is there a pcb that would allow to keep using the turbo lights? I would really like if they would still work, once I changed the pcb.

    Hey donovan if I wanted to add an extra button for the home function would i just solder a wire to one of the two points on the back and one to ground and connect the button to those two wires?

    • @DonovanMyers
      @DonovanMyers  10 лет назад

      Yep! I'd recommend just holding or taping the wires in place to test your theory before soldering though. ;)

      Donovan Myers thanks, it worked but i accidentially pulled the trace off the pcb :S is there anywhere else i can solder a wire to?

    • @DonovanMyers
      @DonovanMyers  10 лет назад

      x1vietnguyen I don't know for certain. I would use a multimeter to test continuity and see if you can scrape off an area somewhere else that trace might connect to.

    Hey Donovan, i need some help, I purchase the new Akishop PS360+ PCB and im going to use it to replace the Stock TE R2 for xbox360, i just need to know how to connect Guide Buttons and Turbo+Start Select Lock, i don´t find any video or guide, even on Focus Attack, thanks in advance, i really appreciate your help.

    • @DonovanMyers
      @DonovanMyers  10 лет назад +1

      Since you have an Xbox 360 stick, it should be fairly easy! There are 2 PCBs, one for all of the buttons and stick near the bottom/front of the case and one for the Guide/Turbo/etc up near the top/back. Just follow the ribbon cable coming from the Guide PCB and determine which wires are for the ground, guide and turbo buttons and screw those into the proper place on the Akishop PS360+ PCB.

    • @streetfighterfansargentina
      @streetfighterfansargentina 10 лет назад

      Donovan Myers You are awesome my friend, thanks for that faster response, I will use a Multimeter to determine what cable are for Guide/Turbo/Lock like you showed on this Video (Very Helpful by the way), but the only and last question that i have is: where on the PCB must be connect this cables exactly?, I am afraid to make a mistake and ruin my pcb, because in Focus Attack they don´t say nothing about it, not even on the pdf docs, i really appreciate if you can indicate that on the PCB for me, or maybe where i can find a picture that it shows it, thanks again Donovan and Greetings from Argentina.

    Will this also work for the ps3 madcatz pro?

    • @DonovanMyers
      @DonovanMyers  10 лет назад

      An Akishop is a complete PCB replacement, it should work with ANY stick. I've used it in a SEGA VSHG and Hori Real Arcade Pros.

  • @Raijin3s
    @Raijin3s 10 лет назад

    Awesome, sorry to bug you dude but is the same true with the cerberus? I have a ps3 madcatz pro and I need to dual mod it but really don't want to take the risk of soldering of I don't have to.

    • @DonovanMyers
      @DonovanMyers  10 лет назад

      Unfortunately, no. All other "dual mods" (ChImp/Cerberus) are add-on boards that add PS3 functionality to a stock 360 PCB. The only thing that you would need to solder (for the Akishop) is USB. That's 4 wires. It's a pretty simple process. The rest can be done with screw downs. Though, the current Akishop has a USB plug, so if you completely replace your USB cable, you don't even have to do any soldering. The home/turbo buttons are easier to access on a Pro stick, though I don't have one anymore, so you'll want to look for a RUclips video from someone else.

    • @Raijin3s
      @Raijin3s 10 лет назад

      Donovan Myers Hey, so I got the ps360+ and im going to dual mod. Im just wondering how i do the home/turbo buttons without soldering. can't seem to figure it out.

    • @DonovanMyers
      @DonovanMyers  10 лет назад

      Jim Key I can't think of any good way to do it with out soldering. The home & turbo functionality is all contained within the PCB so there aren't any opportunities to tap into it through other methods.

    what type of paint you use to paint the bezzle?

    • @DonovanMyers
      @DonovanMyers  10 лет назад

      Automotive vinyl dye works best. Doesn't flake off and scratches will still be the same color because the plastic is dyed.
