The Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss introduces us to a world rich in lore and mystery. And whether spoken of in lore or appearing at a time right when Kvothe needs them, Tinkers are one of the most mysterious and consistent entities we see in the background of Temerant. So today let's talk all about Tinkers!

I'm planning on re-reading the first two books, I hope but won't hold my breath for book three.
My dear sister was reading the series and recently died, I don't know if she finished the two books but I often told her that the library in the next life contains all the finished novels that are written for the angels to read. I do enjoy all your thoughts and theories. Keep up the great work! Greetings from the south Okanagan!

I am very sorry for your loss. Your comment about a heavenly library is such a comforting one, it sounds like you and your sister had a really good relationship. I find it so interesting how stories have the power to connect us, not just to each other but to those we've lost.
Revisiting the first two books is a wonderful way to honor your sister's memory. Although the wait for the third book continues, I hope you find new insights and joys while re-reading that you can hold onto and share, as if she were right there discussing every twist and turn with you. I'm definitely not holding my breath for book 3 any time soon either, but at least the journey still has a lot of value 😊

    Dear Mr Rothfuss,
Dude, I get it. You made an incredible world. There is literally no way to do every corner of it justice in one final book of a trilogy.
But I have great news. Kingkiller chronicles book 1-3 are allowed to be part of your Star Wars style haphazardly-decided trilogy of trilogies! Taberland prequel trilogy...
Sequel trilogy that sucks and bums us out, possibly with Kvothe drinking colorful milks

New Captured in Words KKC video = Insta click. To add credence to the theory that the Tinkers are connected to the Fae, the Rothfuss approved Fae Pairs deck shows a tinker trading in the Fae.
Agree the lore will be left open, and with so much left to be resolved in book 3 it's probably for the best.
    Appreciate the content as always.

I absolutely love the Tinkers, they flesh out the world in such a great way, but of course like so much with Rothfuss they're wonderfully mysterious. My mind went straight to a link between Tinkers and the Cthaeh, giving the Tinkers a slight sinister undertone and credence to the idea of not insulting them if you want a good day. Looks like Kvothe is going to be paying thrice, when will he learn!

I do believe it could be released this year. Him publishing the novella is a good sign, despite his faults and behavior. He's getting back into the writing world again. Yeah sure, it was a re-run of his earlier short story, but you can't deny the fact that it was beautifully composed and a brilliant tale. He hasn't updated in the last few months. It is possible it will come out. I don't have false hope, even if it's not until November or December this year, still...it's a good sign.

Falurian existed before the moon was stolen. Cthae did too (though possibly not as a tree), as did tinkers.

Just a few days ago I thought there could be some new kkc stuff out there but also I thought all the stuff is already out there and there isn't anything left...
But this part about the tinkers is so enormous in scope without even thought about them just one single time...
It's just incredible what Rothfuss has invented with this series ... it's so great and complex and incredible...
that I assuming maybe Rothfuss himself get help from spiritual beings...
If you have ever read real occult or magical books, there are some which teach you how to get access to spiritual beings - and there are special beings for special purposes --> like writing book about magic or occult subjects...
Even Rothfuss understanding of all the magical topics he is writibg about is very accurate... naming, sygaldry(rune), sympathie...
At least he is very deep in occult studies...
And why not, almost every known great achiever is Freemason...
Goethe, Einstein, Rudolph Steiner, Nicola Tesla ... just to name few
And all the great leaders today are Freemason to... Every American leader even Germany Merkel and Scholz and Putin are in the same Eurasien Freemason Loge... just to think about....
Recommend the three books from Franz Bardon
    1. Initiation Into Hermetics
    2. The Practice of Magical Evocation
    3. The Key to the True Kabbalah
In the 2 book he teaches and reveals hundreds of spiritual beings from our solar system - and how they can help you or at least an well studied Adept.
And there I have read about 3 or 4 of them which help with writings, especially good for magical or occult topics...

It's actually weird to see Patrick Rothfuss used real cultures in fantasy. I'm about to read the kingkiller stories and didn't know he did this. I have friends who are Irish Travellers (also called Tinkers). They are the last of the Gaels, a semi nomadic culture who foresaw the future, were poets and bards, warriors and kings and queens of Ireland and the Scottish highlands, and were definitely connected to the Fae (Tuatha Dé Danann). So who are the Tinkers?... my guess is they are humans (Gaels) with strong links to faeries and probably with faerie blood lines in their ancestry. Their animals could be Fae, who are shapeshifters after all. Gaels/Tinkers have a close kinship with the land and their animals, keeping genealogies for thousands of years of people, horses, hounds etc. The Gaels had 'bean sídhe' (banshee) who foresaw the future, based on their Goddesses (the Mór Ríoghan, Macha, Badhbh, Ériu etc. who became Fae), and these gifts were practiced by the people of Éire (probably still are). So the weird thing is that this culture isn't a fantasy culture but a real living culture today... it isn't even history - as Anglo cultures would define it. In saying all that, despite the cultural appropriation, I'm still looking forward to reading the books.

  • @robertds13
    @robertds13 4 месяца назад

The theory of tinkers being of the Fae is mindblowing to me. Never though about that but it makes so much sense!! However it leaves an interesting question... If the tinkers are of the Fae, then does that mean that the Fae never came from the Fae realm, as that was only created after Jax unfolded it from the tinkers pack? If that is the case, then where did they come from? Maybe they always had their realm but somehow managed to fold it up somehow, waiting for the right person to open it back up...

    • @matthewspencer2094
      @matthewspencer2094 3 месяца назад +1

Felurian existed before the Fae Relm, the faen stars, the creation war, and the story of Jax. She mentions one of the 8 cities.
I think much of the fae people's existed alongside the rest of the world... Some additional Fae creatures were created by the shapers when the relm was, some Faen were altered/shaped, others were as they still are, but travelled into the Fae as the creation war raged and made the four corners more of a hostile place to them
Pure speculation, but Drackus seem like something Fae that could co-exist before the Faen Realm, Scrailings seem artificial and more like a weaponisation for the creation war. Angels are a weaponisation of humans (non fae becoming fae)

Taborlin is Lanre. Lanre went to the University. Why? Maybe to learn how to change reality to bring back Lyra.

I agree with you that the Tinkers and the Cthaeh are probably the same kind of being. There seems to have been tinkers before the creation of the far realm, so they can't all have been fae. Maybe it's a tradition started by angels/ruach and continued by fae? Spend a decade or two helping humans while building your resume and saving up for that really nice tree you want to make your lair in?

Didn’t one of the tinkers offer to sell Kvothe a copper sword? I’m gonna go back and look. In one of your videos you said that was something he needs to defeat the Chandrian?

I wanna point out that if you cut out the narrative lines and only reason Kvothe's spoken words, it's still a working Limerick because stop is a near-rhyme for rock. I like the idea that Kvothe couldn't NOT finish the rhyme for whatever reason, be it because he's got some kind of geas on him as a Chandrian or just because it would have annoyed him

It seems tinkers try to do good, so to me it seems unlikely that they are related ditectly to the cthaeh. On the other hand, Auri seems to have an idea where an object should be, and I would say that is based on something real inside the kkc universe, and to me the tinkers do something similar, except that they now who should have something. And probably they don't know why.

I don’t think the tinkers are fae ,or I would be dissatisfied if they were I think they are their own thing and I don’t think they see the future just have a knack for offering what someone needs . Also are there any other character that turns down a tinkers suggestion besides Kvothe? I like that they are a mystery ,maybe ancient beings in a guild forever wandering .

I love your videos. I found you because of Reddit long ago. Why don't you cross post to Reddit now? Is it a 'self promotion' issue?

I'm happy to hear that :) That's awesome you found the channel because of Reddit! I've talked to some of the mods on the subreddit that are totally okay with me posting on there and have encouraged me too in the past, however, at some point last year whenever I tried to share a Kingkiller video on there it would get taken down. I just tried sharing this Tinker one today and the post even got some positive comments on it but then one of the mods took it down. So I'm not sure if there's a new mod that just doesn't like me sharing my videos or what 😅

I'm wondering how much longer your passion for KKC will stay with you. Because, honestly, I'm running low on c*ap to give about the series. It's like a friend you love but they keep ghosting you. For years on end.

Not sure yet, my passion has dwindled a bit which is why I don't make Kingkiller videos as much as I use to but I still always end up enjoying making videos like this and diving into theories. But of course, there's only so many things to make theories on so eventually I'm sure the passion will run out

I hate the fact Rothfuss uses the term tinker for what is effectively travelling sales people. Its a really offensive word for European gypsy and travellers. There are so many other names he could have used.

@@CapturedInWords ah, Thanks for reply...im a fan of regional dialects, its just odd to most. Americans maybe. Most of what I know about Canada comes from Mike Meyers and the McKenzie brothers. So keep up the good work, ah, you hoser.
