@@winstoneverlast You know too much....
@@winstoneverlast That was my immediate thought too.
Someones channel is making entirely the wrong sort of videos..
I still want to know where/how Kvothe's father learns enough about the Chandrian to write a song that must have been accurate enough for them to kill him and his troupe. Seems suspicious to me...
I personally believe that he did what any decent bard does - he gathered up myths and rhymes, ad any info thread he could and compiled those into a coherent narrative. As to why it was so accurate - either he was really, really good at his job or he got extremely (un)lucky.
Eu ficava lendo e me perguntando o mesmo!!!
I look at it like Kvothe's answer about the term ravel. His dad saw these variations of names and with Laurian studied the etymology of them until he had the roots and learned the true names of the Chandrian. Gives Arliden a good source as a potential namer, hence Kvothe's knack , while balances out the whole waking vs sleeping mind. We assume Laurian's a Lackless so would know all about how one name can morph into many. Kvothe can see what's in front of him better than most, but he's willing to admit there could be a similar/random explanation. Kvother is ramston steel; the alloy of his parents.
Arladen says in the first book while he was talking to Ben that he spent years gathering stories but each only had a bits and pieces of truth to them
it's not that he learned enough about them, it's that he learned their accurate names and repeated them during his practice. In book 2, Bast specifically gets upset when Kvothe reiterates their names in full. Kvothe reassures Bast that saying the names once isn't of consequence(notice he says Cinder's real name twice, which supports the idea that Kvothe has slain Cinder, and thus can repeat his name more than one time) , but when his father was practicing the song repeatedly, he was constantly repeating the Chandrian members' names, and the only thing that kept them from being attacked sooner is that they were in a traveling troupe. Constantly, by happenstance, moving prior to the Chandrian locating them.
Missed opportunity:
"here's everything we know about the Chandrian"
*Immediate Outro*
lol
The idea of the Chandrian resorting to methods such as copyright striking videos to erase information about them in the internet era is just so hilarios. I just imagine Cinder arguing with people online like "No no no! The Chandrian don't exist! Shut up! I know where you live kid!"
The idea of the Chandrian going around YT demonetizing videos about them is hilarious.
12:03 "The desire for knowledge shapes a man", what if it was closer to "The thirst for knowledge deformed a man"?
It would serve as both a warning to students, and a reference to Lanre who was destroyed by his desperate desire for knowledge and became the first Rhinta (Rhinata).
We need more of these.
I would like you to talk about Auri’s gifts to Kvothe please. The key that opens the moon, the wooden ring that keeps kbothe’s secrets, the coin that would keep him safe at night, the candle and the green coin.
I do think that some of them are Chekhov’s gun waiting to go off, especially the key.
Thanks for all the KKC videos, they’re very entertaining. I wish you the best of luck ❤️
May all your stories be glad ones, and your roads smooth and short.
The green coin might be corroded copper.
Ben wasn't there when the seven attacked, how could I have forgotten until now that Ben left the troop alive, and with possibly the most knowledge of what was in the song, I didn't remember that until this video.
Exactly! It's a small detail, but I think Kvothe will reunite with Abenthy in book 3 and figure out what it is he knows
Perhaps he can see skarpi again too but not really sure
I have always been confused as to why he didn't go to Ben for help at any time during the first two books.
@@anikaphillips1372 I may be wrong, but Kvothe actually thought about that possibility, but then desestimated. I don't remember the reason why. (Again, I might be wrong).
@@agostinaalegre7734 As for as I remember the distance from Tarbean to wherever Abenthy was, was the main factor in Kvothe not seeking him out.
The etymological breakdown of "Haliax" is just... *chef's kiss*. Didn't even consider that!
I know we all want the Third Book, but the fact that there are still things I haven't found after 3 re-reads and over 3 years is why KCC is my favorite book series. Awesome Video!
makes me wonder what will be covered in book 3? Finishes Kvothe's backstory, then sets into a new story about the Chandrian? If it took Pat 20 years to write book 3, how long will it take to write the next book in series. Either a new trilogy, or book 4?
@@elementsboo it's made clear it's a trilogy. Kvothe said 3 days
@@jasonwhite4228 yes but its basically only a prequel, or one story in the world.
@@jasonwhite4228 yeah its supposed to be a trilogy but he screwed up in book 2 and didnt have enough plot concerning the main story. That can only mean book 3 will have to be an all out sprint to the end but that wont work with his style. At least it wont produce a good ending.
And now its been so long there is no way writing this isnt a super stressful chore and the last thing he wants to do is obligate himself to MORE books in this series.
I hope Im wrong I like the series. But I think its snake bit. If he finishes it with book 3 it wont be very good. He wont add another book cause nobody would in his position.
@@jasonwhite4228 Yea, but I do remember Rothuss saying there might be more than 3 books. That takes after the "3 Days" Unless I dreamed it *shrug*
The Chandrian song that you put in the beginning of the video was amazing Jay!
Rothfuss is a master of maintaining suspense, I got to appreciate it by the end of The Name Of The Wind. The Hallowfell mystery was one of the best mysteries I have ever read! I will soon check out the Subreddit.
Dude there was so much information packed into this episode I had to watch it twice through to even absorb it. Excellent work!
Thank you! I tried to fit as much info and speculation into this one while making it under 20mins, so I'm glad it turned out
I just noticed that Abenthy could be an Amyr, since during all the years he spent with the troupe while Kvothe's dad was gathering information about Chandrian they never appeared. In fact, they didn't appear even when he sang part of the song in front of the troupe, Abenthy included.
So it's quite suspicious that the Chandrian only appeared when Abenthy was not there anymore, and never attacked him even though he had also heard the song.
By the way this same argument could also mean Denna could be an Amyr or at least related to them
he had a gilder. he might have been amyr and unknowingly kept them safe
KKC video!! That was a lot of effort put into even the sponsored content. Your videos are top-notch from start to finish
I am amazed at how little I know about these books despite having read both several times.
I think it’s a crime your channel doesn’t have 100,000+ followers. This an amazing video!
That intro was like drugs🔥👌 not that I've done any
probably bout time you did then huh?
@@demidrek-heyward 😂😅
Dude listen to chandrian by Dhaliax. It’s a metal cover of it.
Your videos are an incredible quality. I love the content and always watch with my finger on the space bar to read and re-read the concepts you present. Thank you for the pace of your videos. Others would take 45 minutes to communicate what you did in under 20. Keep up the great work!
Thank you, I appreciate it! I tried my best to cram as much info and speculation into this one without making it too long, so I'm happy to hear it worked out good!
7 Dislikes... hmm
Anyways, I loved the video, and the whole non-Kvothe lightning thing actually makes a lot of sense, I never thought about it. Following that idea, I remember that Patrick's approach was to bring something different to the fantasy genre. That's why Kvothe's story is more tragic than anything else, and it would make perfect sense that the hero doesn't actually affect some events as much as he believed.
Gaaah it’s the mystery that pervades the whole of the King Killer Chronicles that makes it so interesting to me! There’s so many layers, I just can’t wait to see how they all fall into place in doors of stone. I expect I’m going to gasp almost every page turn haha.
Love seeing new videos about a 10 year old book. This channel keeps me going while waiting patiently for book 3. Thanks!
I came up with a theory about the frame story. For that, let's suppose Kvothe has indeed changed his true name (As in the end of WMF Elodin is terrified that he might have).
We know that the Chronicler possesses Naming skills.
We are strongly hinted that Kvothe HAS locked at least part of his true name inside the Thrice locked chest.
And we know that in order to learn the true name of something/someone, you must completely know and understand that thing/person.
So maybe, just maybe, the Chronicler will learn Kvothe's true name through his story, and that's why Bast needs him for. Bast doesn't want Kvothe to simply "remember who he is", he wants the Chronicler to learn Kvothe's true name, so he can change it back to who he used to be before his name-changing shenanigans.
I honestly don't know if anyone else has come up with this theory before, and I really cannot properly explain what made me come up with it. So, what do you guys think about it?
(btw, my english might not be so good)
Not bad. It's possible, but of course there aren't enough solid facts given in the books to confirm or disprove. Bast didn't know it would be a namer who answered his hints, but once he found out Chronicler was a namer it could explain his demand that Chronicler remind Kvothe of his true self (but it could also be to help Kvothe to remember his true self himself).
I just started my first Kingkiller reread and these videos help me find hints all throughout the story 😍
Incredible video man. You are one of the most hard working booktuber here.
Haven't read kingkiller, but I've never been so early to a video before!
we are all waiting for the third book. I wouldn’t recommend reading it. Because this series is going to swallow you, make you crave for more like the strongest drug in the world. More than heroin, more than love. Don‘t start this series if you don’t want to suffer like everybody else.
@@duydvng3357 totally agreed!!! I thought I was the only one. I even started to think that it was all in my mind and it was overrated but now I see it's not!
I would encourage to read it, though. It's better to love than never loved at all. But I do want more of it, I'm listening to the audio book now hahaha
Yeah, I'm still waiting for the third book to get a release date first myself, as I still need to finish the Cosmere and start the Wheel of Time.

I threw this on and it’s dark out and I’m alone and that intro song scared the hell out of me tbh
Glad to see this series getting some coverage :). I feel like everyone knows about it, but it's not talked about since it's been dormant for so long
Great Video, thank you so much! I love the kingkiller chronicles so much and i love your videos about it!
Wow the graphic art used was absolutely brilliant! I feel like though the trilogy is not complete, “Kingkiller Chronicles” still takes the cake for my #1 book series. I think the internet will explode when the last book drops!
Always a joy to watch.

@@CapturedInWords Well I always enjoy your videos. I can't wait into the next video
Excellent video, dude.
Hey, thanks!
No, Cinder's sword is specifically mentioned to reflect light and shine white. Unlike the ancient swords of the Ademre. Folly is described in terms of metal much like Caesura and the term folly is generally mentioned when speaking about Haliax/Lanre (Abenthy's inscription). If he didn't learn an old magic for forging swords the references tell us Kvothe killed Haliax. This also makes the most sense when Haliax is described as keeping the others in line by protecting them. The true tragedy is an angry well meaning man killing Satan, only to then see the world is better with the devil you know.
It's Hemme's rooms again with the Cthaeh in place of Elodin, tricking Kvothe into hurting someone they hate despite the consequences.
Thanks for this!
Loved this!

Sick intro man
Hi Jay, thank you for all the KKC lore videos. I have lost hope on Patrick Rothfuss completing the series. My only solace are your videos. After your video, I become more enlightened about the KKC. Once again thank you.
I have two doubts. Would you please clarify?
Why were the Chandrian sitting around the fire after killing Kvothe's troupe? They didn't seem to know about Kvothe's existence till seeing him. They didn't linger around Mauthen's farm after the massacre.
Being unable to kill Kvothe in the first instance, they didn't seem to pursue him. After his troupe's death, Kvothe lives unprotected in the forest and in the Tarbean. It would have been very easy for them to kill him then. They are not known for their clemency. Who or what protected Kvothe from them? If Bredon was Cinder as per one of your theories, why was he dallying with Kvothe instead of killing him?
I love your content
