    My oldest Victorinox is 80s Handyman with no hook. My grandpa gave it to me several years ago and it wasn’t used before. I only added plus scales to it)

      40+ years old, and still working, I imagine. Thanks for the story. 🤓 I bought a Spartan on camo for my son, before he was born, while in Germany. When he is of age, he will get a tool that will help him adapt his world to him.

    I also have this, it's 20 years old this year. It was a gift from my office mates when I resigned. It lost one screw driver bit though. Overall, this is one of my favorites SAK !

    My original SAK, (and I still have it and it's in great condition) is a Swiss Champion C bought it new in 1984. 40 years old and still in great condition. I don't carry it as much these days, I mostly carry a Tinker Deluxe. I too work in the tech industry, Network Admin, great tool in the server room.

    • @OutsideTheTargetDemographic
      @OutsideTheTargetDemographic  4 месяца назад

      Literally did a video on my Super Tinker last night. It's my wife's gardening tool. My Swiss Champ has been my work EDC for about seven years now. It is not an exaggeration to say it is my third hand.

    My original SAK was a Wenger, that developed floppy blade syndrome so I bought a slide lock Victorinox. Then years later I found a Champ at a Pawn shop which has been fantastic 👍
    As an Electronics Tech however a Cybertool would be my dream EDC. They are unfortunately crazy expensive in my country ☹️

    • @OutsideTheTargetDemographic
      @OutsideTheTargetDemographic  4 месяца назад

      I have tried one Wenger, and they just did not seem to have the quality of the Victorinox. Especially the scissors.
      The Cybertool is very nice, especially for electronics tinkering or career paths, but the price they command even on the used market here in America makes ebay the only place to pick one up at a "reasonable" price.

    Oldest I have is Champion C from circa -86, but do not carry it anymore, for same reasons as you but also because it's big and there's no need for such tool nowadays. It stays mostly in home locker for in-house use and for edc it's now classic sd or minichamp alox.

    I just ordered one of these, now I'm even more excited for it to come lol. Also this is the first time I've heard of someone else mention Nightwish, I used to be a big fan! If you like Nightwish, I also highly recommend Epica, they have some great songs and I think they even did some collabs with Nightwish.

      Hello, new friend!
      This might be one of the few Victorinox that has removable, lose able components, but it is CRAZY handy for smaller electronics, like PCs, kids toys, and hobby radio. I have this one and the 41/L, which is more of a Frankenstein combo of the Cybertool and Swiss Champ.
      Nightwish is the shit. My favorite band, hands down. I returned to it this past year, decades after I first started listening to them, and I still get chills and tears with some songs (read: Ghost Love Score). Cheers to a Nightwish fan. 🍻
      Epica was a Pandora suggestion, and I liked their stuff too. Also, Kamelot, more "Lincoln Park" - ish style of Nightwish.
      Hey man, enjoy that Cybertool. Let me know what you think. 👍

    I have a Ranger from 1989. First knife, first multitool. 10 year old me was instantly MacGyver (at least in my head).
    Currently carry one of the new 'Companion'. Just put some titanium scales on it, looks great now.

    I also have Forester and Centurion of 2000 year of manufacturing. They are also given by my grandpa. The Ceturion used to be my EDC knife for years (2000 - 2010). I didn’t even know what is EDC then 😂

      Funny, how now "EDC" is a marketable thing, when humans have had to carry objects like stone knives, belts, and staffs, for hundreds if not thousands of years. We really do like to think we are special.

    17 year old model but had the update I see. My 1992 Huntsman used a screw to keep the scissor blades together - kept coming loose and that knife was retired many years ago. Used a basic (no scale tools) knife which had functional scissors and cork screw - both musts! This will be replaced with the Cyber 34 - has all I need

    • @OutsideTheTargetDemographic
      @OutsideTheTargetDemographic  4 месяца назад

      Interesting. Was it a Wenger? I don't think I have seen a screw holding the scissors together.
      I have three Huntsman on the house and vehicles. Probably the most handy SAK for the size. 👍
      Would recommend the 34 or 41. I have both and love them both.

    Nice video and also a nice choice of SAK! But there is a mistake about the weight I guess. According to Victorinox it is 153 grams. Except that situation, that's a very informative video and quality content!

  • @himorher3822

    So basically the cyber tool here is just a bit tool added to a tinker deluxe. Lol that’s crazy. Especially considering that the bottle opener and hook both can do the same thing using a socket

    • @OutsideTheTargetDemographic
      @OutsideTheTargetDemographic  Год назад +1

      Yes, on board, 4 and 5mm nut driver, 8 hits, smaller form factor, longer reach, ball detention retention. But yes, I carry a 1/4 socket and have tried the adapter on the bottle opener. It works, but this is more elegant and further, narrorer reaching. 👍

    My first Vic was a GAK not an SAK, the old issue model, which I bought in Germany too, whilst stationed there in the British Army, in Herford NRW. I carried that for about 5 years after, 3 of them as a civvy, but lost it - oddly in Germany although I was living in Austria by then - at the 1996 Love Parade dance music festival in Berlin, I think psychoactive substances may have contributed to the loss. My next Vic wasn't until 3 years ago, when I bought a Hiker as it had a similar toolset, and basically the same toolset as the current GAK and Swiss military issue Soldier 08 model, but in a smaller package. SInce then I've bought another 9, the most recent acquisition being the Swisschamp. SAKs are my preferred drug of choice now.

    • @OutsideTheTargetDemographic
      @OutsideTheTargetDemographic  Год назад +1

      Oh sure, it was the PSYCHOACTIVE DRUG'S fault. Excuses excuses. Lol
      Its hard to go wrong. They have such a wide variety of toolsets, with barely any deviation in precision and quality, with 100+ years experience, for very reasonable prices to boot? Everyone should have one.

      Good report. You can buy the scale tools on ebay, or, send it in to Victorinox and they will replace them and clean/oil your tool up for you. Given the age, you should include a note saying you do NOT want a replacement knife, just fix up your old one, due to sentimental reasons.

    • @OutsideTheTargetDemographic
      @OutsideTheTargetDemographic  Год назад

      In what way would you say they are conservative? Seems to me they make a wide variety of makes and models, and now even do watches/luggage/kitchen tools/ect.

    • @arvidlindstrom6294
      @arvidlindstrom6294 Год назад

      @@OutsideTheTargetDemographic They are conservative in that they do not want to introduce new tools, according to the times. Let's say: a bottle opener, could already cooperate with a can opener (which they already did a long time ago)
