These sights are made mostly from aluminum alloy which is not magnetic. The screws and hardware are steel which is magnetic.
@@scottthroop6208 They feel and act quality. Very little wobble and seem to be thoughtfully engineered.
I will say you did peak my interest with the oil treatment and makes me want to try it out! Thanks for that!
Last note for any potential future installs for you, use as little roller as possible because the more the foil is distorted the lower the effect it can produce. Thats why a lot of the better quality (albeit more expensive) products come in a perfectly flat sheet.
@@honeybadgerwrx I did have a roller that I did use on the sheets I could, but the size and shape of some of the door and other panels prevented tools from being used, as I could hardly (and with many, MANY scratches) get my hand or arm into those areas. But yes, the more surface area to be more firmly pressed into place, the better.
@OutsideTheTargetDemographic no i saw you had one. I'm just saying use it with low pressure and only as needed
Also i should mention you should aim to use 1 larger piece even if you use less than 50% coverage. Like if you did 1 full sheet or 2 full sheets on that panel with as few cuts as possible it would yield better results. Theres been extensive tests on it and every piece applied should be at a minimum 4"x4" but ideally it would be as big of a piece as possible to fit into the access panel.
@@honeybadgerwrx Ideally, I could strip everything down and cover every square inch. That said, you would hit a point of diminishing returns, where more product would not make for less noise, but only more cost, effort, and weight. Even ignorant me doing this for the first time am very satisfied with the results, and will be doing it to every new car I get. 👍
@OutsideTheTargetDemographic I'm not trying to call you ignorant or say you should do 100% coverage. Just giving you tips and tricks to yield a better end result on the next vehicle to apply it to. Aim for 50%, minimal roller, you'll see it will be more effective!
Hello did yours come with that yellow handle?
@@harshtimes23 Hello Friend. It did not. I used some heatshrink, it's a rubber tube that, when you heat it up with a lighter or heat gun, will shrink down and wrap tightly around something. Less than $10 on Amazon for a large assortment of colors and sizes. 👍 I went yellow in case I drop it, a higher viz color is easier to find, and the rubber grip gives you a better.....grip...
Could you share the link to Temu product?

I watch these EDC videos and figure that if i need to carry all these tools and knives etc in my pockets to make it through the day, i just might as well stay home.
This is great! I just got a 2011 Forester and was struck by how hollow the doors all sound. I have to open the doors to replace blown speakers from the previous owner. I'm glad I found your videos for reference!
@@tylervigue3878 Congrats on the Forester. 👍 It started with the doors, and ended with Insulating the whole thing. It's absolutely worth the effort, and there is so little effort I don't understand why Subaru doesn't just spend the $300 in material to do it from the factory, when everything is already disassembled. Oh well. Now you get to know your car better. 😉
When all done, at highway speeds, I have to decide between having my earbuds play my podcasts on volumn level 1 (just a tad too quiet) or 2 (just a touch too loud). It's made the car more than half as loud as it started.
I'm curious how happy you would've been with using 2 different products from Second Skin automotive with at least 50% coverage.
@honeybadgerwrx I don't know what that is, but even this no-name brand made a massive difference. My earbuds are now at 1-2 bars of volume at highways speeds, when before I needed 4-5 bars. I hardly hear wind, tire, and road noise at highways speeds now, having finished the complete car install.
This is an epic review of these. I just got them. Watching to help me install mine
Today,, before I found your video, I used nail polish to paint the blade of the front sight of my Uberti 1871 Baby Rolling Block .22 rifle. I was having a problem with the rifle's black front sight blending in with a black bullseye. Man!, the nail polish sure makes stands out now!. My technique was different from yours. I put on bright white nail polish first and let i dry for about an hour. Next, I put on some neon orange nail polish and waited another hour before applying some clear nail polish (it was called Ultra Shiny Glass-Like Nail Polish). We'll see, but I really like the way it's looking after applying the nail polish. I didn't put it on thick, didn't need to.
@@bltefft I do about the same, adding a base of white, then hi viz, then a clear coat. The other benefit is, if your sights are not adjustable, you can paint them to adjust them. Say, you typically hit low. If you paint the front sight only 80% of the way up, your sight "is now lower", which would raise your point of impact. You can start by fully painting them, and then removing the paint to get more accurate. 🤓
The rag can go on fire and what type of linseed did you use.
@@buffi944 With BOILED linseed, and with cotton rags, I hear they CAN catch on fire. I used UNBOILED, "raw" linseed oil. It takes much longer to dry/polymerize, which to my mind allows it to soak into cracks and crevices longer.
Thanks a bunch for this video, I have had some less than impressive mechanics doing work on my vehicles and charged an arm and a leg which has made me consider enrolling in a mechanics class for small stuff like servicing and such but unfortunately not found one yet near me
@@CastandBlastfun No problem, Friend. I try to do my own stuff, so I know exactly where to find the SOB that messed up the repairs. 😋 Most things are not as complex as we would believe them to be. 👍 Glad the video was of some help to you.

Awesome build. I just got a olive drab color slide on my dagger compact lower. And got the same red dot as this one. Looks good!
@@MrLex87 Thanks, Friend. I'm going cross country on a 2.5 wk trip, and I have a 44mag for bear, 357 mag for four, two, and no legs (snakeshot), and my 9mm is this Dagger. Light weight, great ergos, high capacity, and cheap enough to replace. Also loving the colors. 🤓 Have you gone the Micro route yet? So far every time I look at the micro slide/barrels, they are sold out. 😒
@@OutsideTheTargetDemographic Awesome stay safe on the trip, And good luck! But Unfortunately I haven't tried the micro slides yet. I just ordered the aim surplus slide, can't beat the cost and went with a lone wolf barrel. Runs like a top. Eventually I'll get one tho. 💪
Where can we buy those materials?
@@omuromakori3427 I used Amazon and Temu, I'm sure you could get whatever from wherever. The thinner insulator like used here was hands down the most expensive per square foot, and I don't know in hind sight that I needed to use it, vs just the Temu 10mm thick foam.
They look identical to Feyachi, made in Vietnam.
I came this close 🤏 to pulling yhe trigger on the knipex mini set for 80 bucks. Then I figured I could get a 4" pair of Irwin Vise Grips, and a 4" Crescent adjustable wrench and use an old belt pouch I have. For all the reasons you brought up in the video, I am so happy I spent less than half the cost and still got name brand tools that get the job done.
@@FerociousSniper Don't get me wrong, NICE plier that Knipex is, but I'm starting to wonder if their advertising is better than their product. 😅 For decades Vise Grips and Crescents have fixed all the things. And can be found in higher quality steel, at flea markets across the country. Also, see my Altoids Tin video on two mods you can do to your Crescent wrench. 👍

Great review my OCD brother!
@@achappstube1 Thanks, Friend. It's been a heavy but heavily used piece of kit. 👍
Nah... The point of these sprays is to reduce the intensity of noise caused by gravel and grit as they are flung into a wheel arch by the tyre. They should be used on open surfaces only. Not BEHIND the liner but on the surface of the liner directly.
He probably should say to be sure and use BOILED LINSEED OIL and NOT use regular linseed oil there's a BIG DIFFERENCE.
My grandpa brought a cuckoo clock home... We have a German smoker that is also shaped like a cuckoo clock. We think that they're neat and we just burn them burn the incense cones in them whenever we feel like it it's not good to breathe that stuff but you could put it on a windowsill and just let it do its thing every once in awhile it's just kind of fun
@@oldbarnmenagerie2783 Very unusual concept, and I love it. The looks of smoking, from a charming little scene, or iconography, or character, with the aromatic incense. 👍 A Christmas tradition here in my house.
I do hope all is okay. Have not seen you around at all, and thought I would stop in and say hi. May Spookyween this year be a good one! Don Bless.
😂 feeling the rediculous part. Gonna follow this video!
@@jacquelinegriggs9174 While not intuitive, it's simple enough. 👍
Very interesting. I am a bit curious as to what is the extra weight added off all the components + mpg effect! :D lovely.
@@TheNakedSalmon Ummm, if I had to guess, I'd say 15 pounds? So the weight of 2 gallons of gas. The return on NOT having noise fatigue is worth the weight and wait (ha. See what I did there? 🤓)
how come you didn't spray the plastic covers ? do you think it helps reduce noise ? Do you have a video where you've done it ? thank you
@@Jaang29 The plastic covers both 1) don't resonate sounds like metal does (how many plastic drum cymbals have you seen?) and 2) don't rust like metal does. The spray prevents the metal from making/transferring noise, and from rusting (water can't rust metal that it can't get to). So no, I did nothing to the plastic except remove, clean, and return. Between all the videos worth of work I did reducing the sound, I got the car about 20 dB quieter than it started. Every 3 dB in reducion is a 50% reduction in sound. I would absolutely recommend spending the time and money (less than $400 all in, which could be spread out over a few months if your budget doesn't allow for a bulk purchase) to deaden your car. As proof, I have don't my mom's and wife's as well. It's the equivalent of driving with ear plugs in.
how many coats did you do please ? thank you and hello from Miami , FL 🌴
@@Jaang29 Hello friend. Hope all is well after that hurricane you got. I used a two coatings, I beleive. The three pack of spray did about 1.5 cars for me. Anything is better than the nothing from the factory. It absolutely made the tire and road debris sound (flung snow, water, gravel, potholes, ect) much quieter. 👍 It also prevents rust up where you will likely never look to find/stop rust from forming.
There is one more thing you could do is the actual tires try hankook ion evo tire have sound deading inside the tires
@@scotttucker2557 Absolutely. These Crossclimate 2s are all season tires that rip through snow, but cost me -2mpg and are not quiet as they do it. Tires can make a huge difference as well, but I'd rather the traction (so far).
So all this video is just listening to you its not a propper review. base on the company's reputation its a it looks like almost all their products are knock off, downgeaded, outdated, cheap, scams. And you're a paid actor. i wanna see a review of sweaty guy and did turn on the fan and got dried off from this. this looks like a power bank and a cheap fan that doesnt really fully meet your satisfaction.

@@jekyll_eth The length is in the title, and some people get more out of it than the six minutes you needed. Thanks for the comment. 👍
These noise deadening videos are fantastic! I watched the Outback door one earlier this week. I'll be checking out the others as needed. Thank you for making these and sharing them here!
@@WKFS Happy to be of help. I've never done ND in any vehicle, but I will tell you it is absolutely worth the time investment. 👍
Are you noise sensitive in general? Or is it part of a longer story on why you pursued this? I would love to do this in the untreated areas of my vehicle. Some after market noise deadening is in place already.
@@WKFS Oh, I have "sonar tech hearing". I can hear a fan being left on in the other room. 😅 In an attempt to preserve that hearing, I figured 1.5 hrs a day, 5 days a week, I am subjected to the road, wind, and traffic noise of my car, so, might as well try making it quieter. I drive with earbuds in, and I went from having my volume set to 5-6 to now 2, sometimes 3. It's an amazing improvement, for little money and time. Also, I'm convinced my car AC and heater work better, because now the paid-for air stays inside the cabin longer, as it has to now get through additional layers of ND material before being transferred out of the car through the metal body panels. I've done my car, part of my wife's car, and my mom's car. Everyone appreciates the difference it made.
@@OutsideTheTargetDemographicSounds like we have something in common regarding hearing noises that other humans filter out. 😆 It's a blessing and a curse! My goal is to make the cabin quieter for when the music is off and when it's on, particularly for soft passages.
@@WKFSWe are of one superpower. 🤝 I didn't have a decible meter at the start, but my free uncalibrated phone app said my highway noise was max 82 dB, and now peaks at about 54 dB. Its the benefit of wearing earplugs, without the fatigue of expanding foam in your head hole. It will make phone calls easier for you to hear, them to understand you, and your media will sound better. I can hardly hear my idling engine in a parking lot now. The other thing I enjoyed about the process, was I damn near gutted every part of my car, so now I know where connectors are, parts are, wiring, ect. Lastly, you don't have to spend A weekend doing everything. Unlike washing your car, you can do areas or panels completely independently of each other. Once a week, do thirty minutes of work, and notice how every bit of work you do, stacks. You'll love it.
You should have cleaned & sprayed the back side of the plastic cover as well. Applying sound deadening mats works even better.
