Like someone else here commented, Kevin is in love with love. Love and family... Which really, family is love, at least the kind of family he wants. He's been chasing down that happiness in all the wrong places since his father died, because to him love and family is the ultimate happiness, because in his mind his parents had this fairy tale marriage/love (they didn't, even the best of marriages have issues, and that's what makes them real) and he wants that more than anything.

Kevin’s not in love “with love”. He wants his unrealistic idea of what love is, trying to replicate what he could see about Jack and Rebecca’s relationship. That’s why he tries and tries and then he fails. He was never aware that relationships is more than passion, laughs and perfection, or first sight feelings. Relationships imply working imperfections together. And he’s so desperate to find this love that he’s willing to give Cassidy a chance, although he doesn’t really feel it. Now, don’t get me wrong, every person has the right to dream, and maybe there are people who have epic love stories but it’s not the case for the rest of the people. Randall and Beth’s wasn’t easy either, and look at Kate and Toby. Even Jack and Rebecca wasn’t a perfect story, but Kevin sees it that way. Also, as a person who deals with addiction as Kevin does, we’re always trying to look for something that give us that big shot of adrenaline/numbness, and we often replace addiction with other things. In this case, I think that’s why Kevin was so willing to go to Cassidy and asks her to try because his addiction personality traits wants that “love” so desperately that will leave him numb and satisfied.
I think Cassidy is going to play a huge role in his life as a genuine friend that calls him out on his crap. At this point, it doesn't matter to me who he ends up with. I'm thinking that his marriage is pretty recent in the flash forward scenes.
By that blonde she didnt mean Sofie. When she remind him that he married her, cheated and almost married her again, she definitely wasn't implying, that he should go to try it for the third time. Her tone was annoyed by how ridiculous of him that was. But when she referred to Madison, only drama there (to be made right) is, that he couldn't say I love you and that he is jealous now. That is something that can change if he won't mess it up. That is what she actually said. With Sofie it is already messed up beyond repair. Leave her to be happy and not dragged into toxicity again. Wich they would be as a couple.
this scene is on point. and the most interesting thing it's not about the blonde that cassidy thinks kevin should be chasing,; it's the fact that kevin doesn't know which blonde she's talking about, that may be intend to open the sophie box
It's not that she is more mature. She has her problems just like Kevin does. Cassidy is just a no bullshit person. She will call it like it is and be completely blunt and honest.
How is Cassidy's message flying over people's heads? Lol. Everything is pointing towards Madison. Kevin has always wanted a RomCom, his whole journey throughout the series has been him trying to be Jack (and recreate Jack and Rebecca) but he keeps failing because he's not Jack (Randall is) and IT'S OK. In an episode in the last season when he was hallucinating I believe, Jack told him to be himself. I mean, he almost proposed to a coffee shop girl within 20 minutes of meeting her, that's just an example of how destructive it can be when you've been over fed RomComs (or in Kevin's case, been around a RARE perfect love story). The Conclusion of Kevin's story is finding perfection in imperfection. Most importantly, it's our story. If the writers wanted to give us a typical RomCom ending, Sophie would have been the choice. But they want to give you an ending that is realistic and will be lived by most of you (and again, our love stories are not less "romantic" because the chemistry is not BURNING like in Bridgerton). So all you have to do is just say thank you to the writers and stay blessed.
As a psychologist with some background in relationship psych, I would be soo glad to see this sort of representation on TV more often. It’s time TV and movies stopped romanticizing the unhealthy or even toxic relationships (and a Kevin/Sophie ending would endorse that in my opinion). I also think that his conversation with Cassidy is framed in a way that suggests she means Madison. I mean, she says “If you want that romcom ending, go and make things right with her” and “…The current one, you could not say I love you, but now you’re obsessed with hating her boyfriend. If you’re not careful you’re gonna blow that one up, too”. Switch these two and in that context it fits better that Madison’s the one that he can actually still make things right with. Also, it’s what he actually does end up doing. The blonde on his mind after this talk is Madison. (Add to that that he starts his conversation with “We came together in a time of loneliness and addiction. But what if that inner darkness actually turned out kinda wonderful?” and well…)

When we called Madisons BF, I knew it would all end with Madison as his partner. She'll see his loving side and caring side and admit she was just afraid and that she wants more in the end.
I'm team Madison. She loves him, as she said, and he loves her, but couldn't get in touch with what that meant for him. He is expecting a soap opera love, but really needs the kind of mature love that comes with being with a good woman that wants to make a loving home with him and the kids. It grows with time. She just doesn't want to try to make a life with someone who is still unable to see the love that is there. I think they belong together.

They could fly back & forth. “Our darknesses are not the same.” SO? That’s what therapy is for. He lives in a world of fame. That right there is a false reality. Which comes with a WHOLE LOTTA BS. And yes: “he’s been blowing up women’s lives for decades.” FACT. Doesn’t even get how damaging he’s been to women. She seems honest here. It’s a believable conversation. He uses women for his ego, strings them along, leaves them hanging & confused. Plays them off each other: like why does she probably know way more about his blondes than he does about her life? Cuz he’s selfish, immature & shortsighted. He wants what he wants: doesn’t seem to care what SHE feels…or how his previous womanizing ways would naturally make her extremely leery about his character or ability to be a solid partner for her.

The writing on this scene was on point. CASSIDY was stating her TRUTH. She was right on putting Kevin on BLAST.

He uses women for his ego, strings them along, leaves them hanging & confused. Plays them off each other: like why does she probably know way more about his blondes than he does about her life? Cuz he’s selfish, immature & shortsighted. He wants what he wants: doesn’t seem to care what SHE feels…or how his previous womanizing ways would naturally make her extremely leery about his character or ability to be a solid partner for her.

@@SilkyShish Justin has been like this since his days of being a soap star, and did little to hide it. He didn't even have the decency to break up with his girlfriend when he started seeing Lindsay Hartley. Of course he's going to be judged after years of behavior like that.
