My most favorite of all the Depeche Mode members of all time, he was classically trained on the piano and oh how I've always loved Alan so much, what a talent. I truly wish they would bring him back into the band, what an incredible time that would be and I would be the first to sign up for tickets!
I have loved him for almost 40 years, he is just amazing! I would be right there with ya in line to get those tickets to see him again. Been way to long, seen him last in 94. DM needs him back ASAP. I respect his decision in leaving but it still hurts not seeing him in concert. I haven't seen DM live since 94.. He is such a beautiful man.
since Mr.Wilder left DM something magical left with him and DM won't be the same anymore.the way he played those synths were just out of this world.we missed him so much.bring back the magic please.
I never believed there was a man who felt the same depth of love for music like me, but I was wrong. Alan will always be my hero, I owe my entire life to him, and for that I will always be alongside him in the shadows as a faithful follower
I totally agree, with you that it has not been the same with DM since Alan's departure from the band. I think Alan Wilder makes Martin Gores songs more meaningful to me and Martin Gores songs resonate more to me with Alan's influence on those songs.
Alan Wilder was the un-credited producer of most of the great songs around the Music for the Masses / Violator / SOFAD era. And it is these songs that remain at the pinnacle of Depeche Mode's incredible body of work.
he was credited officially, on the production is written also "produced by Depeche Mode" and he was part of it, right? Check Wikipedia on every album he was part of ;)
stop moaning regarding Alan, it was 100% his decision to leave the band, they had a really balanced work , they complement each other very good (in a group there are always tensions, imagine you are forced to stay together months in months, every day), and everything was Ok till that long tour where depression it seems made Alan to take this decision, I am sure he is regretting a lot that moment...
well, if it wasn't for Dave's charisma and beauty, they wouldn't either. Depeche Mode are 2 gods, 1 studio genius and someone who's bumpin' around (I don't count Vince)
both of you are totally wrong, firstly it was about Martin's compositions, those are the most important things, tell me one track that you remember from Recoil and Dave Gahan solo? ;) Alan was really talented in the studio and great musician, Dave an amazing singer and front man but the genius was Martin, lets respect the history please
Vince Clarke was pretty goddamned important too if you ask me if I had to put the bands existance in order of the importance and contributing members it would be 1)Martin Gore 2)Dave Gahan 3)Alan Wilder 4) Vince Clarke 5) The Roadies 6)Andrew Fletcher

Qu’est ce que j’aime cette sonate de Beethoven jouée par mon membre préféré de DM, l’émotion se devine dans chacune des notes, quel grand artiste il est, je regretterais toujours qu’il ne soit plus dans le groupe… 🖤
90% of the song list is alan era songs even on memento mori tour, and that will never change because that's what people pay money for, except maybe home; fans come to dm concerts to hear enjoy the silence and everything counts, not john the revelator? or filling the hole? so thank you alan wilder for all the dm songs that you produced and all our good memories ❤❤❤❤
I was at a live concert in 2013. Everything was great except Somebady. Martin sang it to the accompaniment of Gardeno...😭 Peter is a great pianist and nothing more. A song with a broken soul.💔
Understand 🫂. I don’t know Peter personally, something tells me he’s generally a good person👍. As the pianist, I can say that he plays well. But, he only plays, he does not feel the song, does not adapt to the solo. So does Christian. I can’t speak about his professionalism, I’m not a drummer. And in general: words separately, music separately💔🤷.

DM is not as good without Alan, but Alan isnt that good without DM either. It is the sum of all the parts that make the greatness. DM wouldnt be where they are without Fletcher either. He is the business side of the band, and very good at it! :)
it's called synergy, and it s gone now. Yes they still make a lot of money, but appart from a track or two, everything that's been released, live or album, sounds weak without him.
The song itself is actually *performed* by Alan. It was one of the B-side tracks to the Little 15 single. Martin secretly recorded Alan as he was practicing on the piano as they were recording "Stjarna" in the studio. I have always loved this version of the song so I used it for the tribute.
Fletch is still in the band. You know Depeche Mode has done just as many albums with out Andrew then with, sure i miss him but they keep plugging and making great albums.
Actually, no. He is free to pursue whatever musical roads he wishes to travel. He never quite got his full credit for turning Martin's songs into genius-level classics, and the insanity of their touring shenanigans no longer affect him. Also, it now takes two people to fill in musically on tour for him, and I'm certain the musical direction the band went into with less synths and more crappy blues guitar arena rock bullshit would never have made Alan happy.

This is true. At least let Alan play on spoons. Not an album, but 2-3 songs from an “old music book” and “bottom desk drawer”.🙏
Yes indeed, I've been waiting many years for this, still hoping it happens one day.
