I've had mine for 3 years. It's the watch that does everything. It dresses up and down. It's finishing for the price Is exceptional. The bracelet Is like butter. It keeps phenomenal cosc like time and has so many little features that I still gaze at most days thankful I'm lucky to own one. A truly amazing watch for people that just know.

Beautiful review. I've got one which had the tan Hamilton leather strap. Lovely but saw online how good it looked with the black one. Bought one, loved it then became obsessed with the metal bracelet. Added that now and godamn. I'm done. I love it.

I’ve had mine for nearly 3 years. My wife bought it for me for my 40th and as a pilot, I love it… the power reserve is perfect for when you have a three day rest at home then start flying again… I also get lots of compliments from other pilots… that, along with the film connection make it excellent. It’s nice and slim for under a cuff and not too big!

Hi Teddy. Great review, this watch is phenomenal, and certainly punches above its weight/price. I have smaller wrists (6.75-7”) and find it wears really well, the compact lug to lug and curvature of the case gives it a really nice shape. The power reserve is great, I can take it off on a Friday, leave it in the watchbox over the weekend, come Monday it’s still ticking. Super accurate, mine gains less than a second a day, and if left over the weekend looses the gained seconds and is bang on time again. The free sprung balance wheel is a real winner I feel, and whilst slightly more involved if requiring regulation, it can be done by adjusting the weights on the balance wheel. Overall, I’d highly recommend this watch.

This watch it very wearable for smaller wrists despite the size. As mentioned, it has a compact lug to lug length, which in my view is very important to how it wears.
The other thing to keep in mind is that the dial is rather busy, helping to shrink the perceived dial size. There's not a lot of negative space.
Contrast this with the Hamilton "Murph" which is the same diameter, has much more negative space on the dial, and a much larger lug to lug length. The Khaki Pilot Day Date is a reasonably sized "larger" watch. I'd love it if they made a smaller version, but I love this one as is
Last point, Hamilton makes a 46mm diameter version of this watch. So the 42mm version is the small option as it stands.

I bought the quartz version over the automatic version as a travel watch, while I’m traveling in Asia, mainly because it has a 200m water resistance over the 100m of the automatic version. The only thing that doesn’t delight me is the shiny polish on the applied numerals, in conjunction with Hamilton’s apparent fear of coating their crystals.

I bought this from your site a few months ago as my first mechanical watch and it's been my daily ever since. I have small wrists but it wears nicely because of the shorter lug to lug and it pairs well with lots of NATO straps. I enjoyed Interstellar and am a space movie nerd but even aside from this being a movie watch I love how the dial catches and reflects light.

I ended up ordering the 38mm version in rose gold on a leather strap. Reference H64445595. I really wanted the stainless version, but it was discontinued and is impossible to find even used… the smaller one has the day/date at 3 o’clock position rather than this awkward day position on the 42mm version. It also has ETA Caliber 2836-2 instead of the slowed down H-40 so smaller dial with higher beat equals smoother second hand movement. It was a bit of a compromise to take rose gold over stainless, but overall I think the smaller one I got is a better watch. I really wish Hamilton didn’t discontinue the 38mm stainless version. I guess it didn’t sell very well?

The joys of being neurodivergent. I have a horrible habit of getting obsessed by things, like headphones, speakers, televisions and camera lenses. My most recent obsession has been watches and I have spent hours most days, looking at videos and going on websites. With me, normally ending up spending far too much money on an item, trying to break the obsession.
I did try to stop the obsession early buy getting a cheapish divers watch (a Citizen Promaster Titanium Eco-Drive Diver's Watch) but it didn't have the desired effect. Come forward, 5 months and with a couple of close calls (nearly buying the Frederique Constant Classic World Timer and an Omega Speedmaster, both of which I really couldn't afford).
In the end, I bought the Hamilton Khaki Aviation Pilot watch and I can't be happier. It is a great looking watch and I don't find the watch too big for my 7.25 inch wrist. The irony of course is being neurodivergent, I also hate the feel of jewellery on my skin, which means the odds are, I will only ever wear the watch on very special occasions.
But fingers crossed, it will stop me lusting over more watches.

I have small wrists and spent way too long tracking down the older 38mm version of this (with 3-oclock day and date), but it's one of my favorite watches by far. Will probably never sell.

Can you share where you find it? I love this watch so much, but my wrists are way too small for a 42mm.

Really like the day in full letters complication at 12h. 👌
I think it would be better with the day-date disks with the same color as the dial. Works better with white a dial.
Speaking of the dial, the hour inside ring is a bit too busy for me.
And 42 mm is a bit too much for my taste.
Overall, it’s a quite nice watch: I just might be a little picky here. 👍😁

@@fmartmart8099 Because it's not economically viable for them to do it at their price point. It's not just Hamilton that doesn't do it, it's the entire watch industry.
