A serious contender for my Top 5 Watches Of 2020 list next month. Great film too. I only really have one complaint, and that is the lack of A/R coating. It makes it hard to see the beauty of the dial and it is a proper bugger for me to film. Ha! Cheers, Jody
This model is the first "serious" watch I picked up. I absolutely love mine, and am glad I started so strong.
Me too! Just got it today!
Me too
Me too!
Another good review Jody....I was so pleased to hear the recent news about Lewis Hamilton losing his 3 year court battle trying to stop Hamilton using their name as their trade mark ....a company that has been going since 1892!....what a plonker!....nice watch btw :)
I thought you were joking. But no, you weren't.
I googled it and yes , as crazy as it sounds. Lewis Hamilton actually sued them. What in the actual...
Absolutely crazy. Lewis should just stick to driving and keep his mouth shut.
Hahahaha you cant make this shit up.
Lewis's ego's too big, forgot that the watch company is been around since 1892 😂
'I don't have to return it'..... I want your life Jody.....
I think the skeletonisation of the hands are a great idea.
What an absolutely beautiful watch. It has the finish of elegance while also having the foundation of a tool watch. I have been thinking about this watch non stop since I saw your review so I am expecting mine to arrive next week lol.
I like how it's evident that the video was shot over the weekend. The day at the beginning of the video is Saturday and turns to Sunday towards the end of the video.
Interstellar is my favourite film, love it.
Been looking at this watch for a while now
The lack of anti sapphire is nice with the distortions
It reminds me of cooper going through the black hole
🤡
I really liked the stainless steel indicies, something completely different. I also have 6.2 inch wrists but didn't have any issue wearing it.
I really like how you reference the movies that watches have been in. Just have gotten into watches this year and your channel is by far my favorite
Been looking at Hamilton for a couple of years now trying decide on a model, this will be my next watch in 2021. Thanks for the great macro shots. The etched indicies did it for me.
I have this watch, it's one of my favorites in the collection!
Same here, one of my favorites
Absolutely agree. Such a great watch
Interesting dial and love the easy the hands are skeletonized.
I’m here just for the shirt. 😁
Just one more shirt
I bought this watch a year ago as a retirement present to myself. I spent months reviewing many many watches before buying it and I wasn't disappointed. Absolutely love this ultra cool watch and its the pride of my collection. I should also say its the most expensive watch I own because all my watches are daily watches and not wrapped up in cotton wool.
One more little detail not mentioned is that when the skeletonized hands are aligned they create one 'solid' hand. Just another little cool feature. All in all a very cool watch with mesmerising features.
Many thanks for the review.
Michael
At your recommendation I bought one, and I must say it´s just stunning. Running perfect, a shame to far more expensive and maybe more flashy watches. I already found out about the strange finish to the dial/ indexes.... Although the numbers seem to appear/ disappear on the angle of light applied, they grasp for almost any ray of light they can get in the cockpit or a car, resulting in excellent readability. Just move it a small bit, and there´s loom in the pit. Nice one Hamilton, I´m loving it.... ❤
A nice watch, however I prefer the Murph. The movie is great and it was filmed where I live.
Hello from Calgary
Hey from Calgary too!
Agree, they're two different watches, but the Murph has a cleaner look to me. I do like the day/date as a daily wear tool watch, though.
Vancouver checking in. I own both the Coop and the Murph ... just couldn’t choose!
I checked these out in Metrotown once and I swear they wanted $1800 CDN and didn't even have the black dial in stock. How much did yours run?
@@sluggo562 The murph is selling for about $1200 cdn
Planning on picking one of these up next year. Absolutely love it.
Thanks for your TIME , love the reviews, stay safe .
Ah, Hamilton.
reminds me when Lewis Hamilton sued this company for "using his name illegally on products" when the watch maker Hamilton was *established in 1892* while he was born in 1985
of course he lost the lawsuit
Yep, lost all respect for him when I heard about this.
Lewis Hamilton is a moron
What a plonker
Thats not quite right. His team was suing to try prevent Hamilton watch company from registering the trademark throughout Europe.
He's a peanut!
I have the simple quartz version of this and really like it. Quartz has 20 bar water resistance by the way.
Is the crown still push pull?
@@vascosaldanha602 no sir, it is a screw down crown.
@@frankbcn2223 wow, great upgrade
Whats the WR on the auto?
@@vascosaldanha602 and for about half price of the auto. I have quite some automatics but with a good quartz there is also nothing wrong. And more precise of course
I purchased mine from Jomashop about 3 years ago. They truly are the goto watch dealer as far as I'm concerned. The watch is everything you make it out to be. Mine is on the leather strap rather than the bracelet. It's a great alternative to a diver as a sporty everyday wear.
Sorry I didn't say it was a great review. It is.
Can't wait for the Murph review next.
This is an awesome watch, Jody. I have had this Pilot Day Date in my collection for over two years and it is truly one of the most comfortable watches I have ever worn on my 7.5” wrist. For some reason, the bracelet just disappears when wearing the watch. I am a sci-fi geek too and I love “Interstellar” (all Nolan movies, to be honest). Therefore I just had to add the Murph (with the limited Tesseract box 😀) to join the Coop in my collection. Thanks for the review.
I get so confused by the Hamilton khaki line-up.
Aesthetically I think I prefer the "Murph".
I can see one of these in my future. Another great video. 👍
Was my first really good watch and I can't even begin to tell you how much I love it. I've had it for a few years now and I've worn it just about every day since I bought it at the end of 2016. Works with literally any outfit.
Absolutely love this watch. I was a very happy customer when I added this watch to my collection.
Finally. Been waiting for this review after your double unboxing video. Nice watch. Great review.
Currently saving for this one.
Hamilton are seriously underated watches
I don’t think they’re underrated at all. At least not the field watches. I think that they’ve hit a home run with their newer releases like the intra matics
White and blue colour ways - also a brown/orange style limited editions
I bought the Khaki Aviation Pilot Day Date Auto from Jomashop a while back. The lack of anti-reflective coating and the ‘disappearing indices syndrome’ drove me nuts so I sold it. Bought a Laco Flieger and it’s WAY more legible. Maybe the Murph? Cheers!
I would argue that Hamilton should add some ar coating to their crystals coz Hamiltons in general are known for their crazy reflections. Besides that a lovely watch imho too.
Absolutely lovely, what more can I say
Had mine a good few years now and love it. Mine is very accurate probably most accurate watch in my collection.
This has been my main daily driver for about three years now. Simply, the most versatile watch in my collection. Jodi is, unfortunately, very late to the party here. He also didn't point out what an amazing strap monster it is. You can put anything on it and it looks good.
Lovely watch. I really like the day display in full and the date at six o’clock. Just can’t justify the price unfortunately.
Mine broke out of the box. Day was off center and never came back to center. Sent it back. Love the watch and it’s out of production.
I recently watched Interstellar for the first time as well and thought it was a great movie. This watch looks pretty good! I don't really dig some of Hamilton's other designs though.
Love this watch. My 2021 watch goal is to add a Hamilton to my collection, this could well be the one. 👍🏼
Beautiful watch. Will look to pick up.
I paid $900 aud 2.5 years ago. I’ll never let this one go.
Overpaid
@@AvidUTuberno, no they didn't 😂 the conversion is very good in fact
Just bought. Can’t wait
Great video, Jody! I'm so excited to be adding one of these to my collection. Now I just have to go watch Interstellar again (for like the 20th time, hahaha).
Nice but I'm not a fan of that big day complication! But i think the hands having reverse lume is a fantastic idea...
There was a time when no watches had anti reflective coating. Somehow, we all struggled by.
But there was a time we had no sapphire, and mineral was less reflective than sapphire is, so yes we kind of need a bit more of the anti reflective coating with a sapphire if you don't want to struggle everytime you want to read the time if the light isn't going the right way around your watch
This was my first Swiss watch. I think the design is great, but I eventually fell out of love with it due to its size. I think This should have been a 39mm watch.
The face is crowded now at 42 mm. Think what would be at 39mm!
@@samiam619 its about proportions. The Murph watch they make is less busy, and it's also 42mm. Insane.
44mm lug-to-lug would've been nice for me personally
@@samiam619 go type A dial for 39mm?
39 is girl size
Great looking HAMI for sure 😍
Heeeeeelllllloooooooo! Thanks for the review Jody. Love a hamilton. McConaughey would be proud to wear the same watch as you Jody. I wonder if you should have done the review with your shirt off because you know thats how he would have done it.
That is a beautiful watch love pilot watches nice one!
Cant believe you had not seen interstellar , great movie.
I really liked this watch. But 42 is too big for my 6.4 inch wrist. So I ended up with the khaki auto 38mm. This was 3 years ago.
I’m now watching this vid with a muprh 38mm, also another beaut.
I have slowly became a big fan of hamilton watches, they are all truly versatile, simple yet sophisticated, well priced, easy to maintain, and most importanltly, what a history they have. Unmistakenly american
This has been my every day watch for four or five years. In addition to fitting my (larger) wrist perfectly, it's extremely legible, even at a glance.
The watch's sharp design complements whatever I'm wearing, whether it's a tshirt, jeans, and sneakers during the day, or a jacket, collared shirt, and trousers for a night on the town.
I’ve only had it for a year but it’s definitely the watch I wear the most and I agree with you 100%. I love this watch. The only thing I don’t like much is the lume. Not because it’s not very bright, but because it looks incomplete with the marker at 12. However, it’s really not a big complaint at all
Thanks! I’ve been looking at this one close lately along with the Navy Pioneer. It’s a hard decision for me.
Navy Pioneer is a grail for me. The Marine Chronometer look is perfect for casual and dress. I love the wire lugs with the hidden spring bars. But it is the 100m that makes it a great watch all round. Of course the only downside is no lume but the white dial and dark hands work.
I have the Navy Pioneer and I'm about to sell it for this one. I love my Navy Pioneer, but this one fits my collection a little better at the moment.
Good luck with your decision... they are both awesome watches. I own the Pilot and simply adore it. I am a Hamilton fanboy with (too?) many in my collection, but love to add the Navy Pioneer as well.
Amazing how many nice Watches out there 😷 stay safe everyone !
Picked this up earlier this year and have no regrets. Definitely my best watch buy of the year and intend to get another Hamilton next year.
I have a Jazzmaster with ETA 2892, which is incredibly accurate, and yesterday I bought a Khaki Field Aviation automatic with H30 and an 80-hour power reserve with a blue dial. Hamilton watches offer a lot for their price, which justifies their purchase.
I just rewatched this movie! Seriously what the hell
I just purchased this watch....jomashop.And 10 min later.....you post this 😂
$665 + 8.5% ARizona sales tax....minus $20 coupon.......ended up being $699 for me.
Hope it’s worth it! Enjoy
I don’t know any watch reviewer in RUclips that gets a lot of watches for free than Jodi. Wow!! He’s very good though.
Love Hamilton watches. I own the "Jack Ryan" Day Date Chronograph and I've noticed with many Hamilton's there is very little or no AR coating on the sapphire glass at least none on my Khaki or Jazzmaster's.
It does have AR: (how much? Who knows)

Bought mine two years ago as a sophomore in college and it still runs +- 0 seconds a day. Absolutely phenomenal watch
How did you get it to run +-0?
@@mies_cup it just came like that. Zero noticeable variation until about two days in a row of wearing it. And even then it'll be +2-3 seconds
@@mies_cup it can be just pure luck. Yesterday I checked mine Omega Planet Ocean with a professional watchmaker: 0 seconds in several positions and -1 second in 1. The watch was bought in 2014 and the caseback has never been opened. The watchmaker was really amazed :)
Ah ok! Mine runs minus 5 seconds but o well. Sweet watch nonetheless.
I have the earlier ETA version of this watch and it’s at +2 daily. Amazing watch!
I’ve learned to appreciate Hamilton more and more. I have the Khaki Field Mechanical because nothing says Field like mechanical. And I also just bought this watch. But not because it was in a movie. It truly is a beautiful yet minimal design. Everyday watch for sure. Can be dressed up or down. Ticks all boxes for me. I’ll continue to add Hamilton to my collection
Thats watch was 595 pre pandemic. Should have picked it up
I thought my memory was betraying me when I saw that discount price being higher or in the same waters, than the retail price I had in mind.
Thanks for confirming. It's a cool looking piece for those who embrace its size. I'm not sure about that new price though. Second hand market is surely happy about it.
I have a Hamilton dealer in my town, and the prices are absurd. I looked at a Hamilton cross wind or X-wind and it was almost $2,000 while on Jomas it was less than $1,000. I love the Hamilton brand
Great review as always Jody, but as for Hamilton, I am not sure what it is about their range, but I just cannot warm to them, sorry. As for Joma Shop, great range, great prices, but I will for ever stay clear as I by the time I have paid import duties, any gain in their low prices is lost. Not sure if you have the same issue in Australia, but here in our sunny south European country, we get hammered by Custom fees.
A little gutted I sold mine! But with hardly a bezel and all dial the watch just looked too big on my wrist and I was defending it in my head!! “ITS A PILOTS WATCH...... ITS MEANT TO BE BIG!!” . But I just didn’t wear it! My Seagull 1963 will do fine on his own in the pilots watch collection!;)
I have a couple of Hamiltons with this 80-hour movement. Mine are very accurate (like this one) ... but they better be, because it is my understanding they can't be easily adjusted. If you look at the back, the traditional adjustment setup is missing.
Another great review Jody. Would love for you to do a series reviewing iconic watches from various movies and tv, highlighting budget and value watches. Thoughts ?
This watch is a beauty, but too expensive for me. I just got my first "serious" watch, the Casio Oceanus s100 and I'm over the moon with it! I might get this guy in the future :) The Arabics light play is beautiful.
It's not just the Khakis that have never ending names. I have a, wait for it, Hamilton Intra Matic Auto Chrono. Too many words for a watch!
Actually it's the Hamilton American Classic Intra-matic Auto Chrono, to be clear here 😉😅
@@jrgdrumsandwatches You're right, it's even worse!
I'm just glad they don't put the whole name on the dial. I don't like to read books on my watch like you can with a Rolex.
A word of warning about Jomashop. I purchased this watch from them and I will never do so again. My watch was defective and they would not respond to any emails. Their customer support sucks. They also delete negative reviews from their website.
Would be good to see a review of the new Longines Spirit
It’s actually a 41.8mm case not a 42.5mm. And the lug to lug is 47.6mm not 48mm. It makes a difference.
Hamilton truly makes great watches
Very nice who cares about the movie it's just another stereotypical Hollywood format movie but the watch is great !
What a stunner! I love how the hands "align" with the dial! Great video as always! 👍
Jomashop prices are nice, shipping on the other hand...
Wouldn't mind waiting for my order a longer time if they where upfront about their back order times, but the fact that the website says that the specific watch ships in 1-3 days, then in the purchase confirmation email they tell that its actually 1-2 weeks is just blatant false advertisement.
Great video thanks Jody. I don’t have a Hammy in my collection... yet.
The day and date on the watch match the release date for the video? Congratulations on winning yootoob!
The reflections would drive me batty, and the reflective indices aren't my fave, but we can't all like everything. It's a great value watch. But...
Why is Jomashop shipping so weird and variable? Shipping to Aus for the Interstellar is $33, but it's $57 for a Bulova Oceanographer that they have on sale for $395. I tried emailing and they replied "we'll look into it". That was a couple of weeks ago.
Very nice. 👍 Crown guards are more often than not now. I'll have that in my watch box thanks, if you want to out it in your giveaways Jody, 😀
Not really my cup of tea but Hamilton has done a great job with it. Shame about the AR coating though. A good AR coatings is a must in my book.
HELLOOOOOOO JODY!
I love this watch! And the movie, for that matter. This has been on my wants list for awhile now. I just keep buying other watches before it!😂 I'll get it soon.😁 Thanks Jody!
I just don't like the completely flat dials on a lot of the pilot watches. This is exciting for that reason.
Now get around to doing the Glycine Airman
I love Hamiltons, I have a couple of my great grandfather's pocket watches which are both Hamilton. I owned a wonderful Broadway Chronograph which was probably the most striking and beautiful watch I have ever owned. The execution is simply brilliant. Again it has the anti reflection issue but the watch was so well designed it never stopped you telling the time thanks to the polished indices.
I have a single gripe with Hamilton but I suspect it is part of the business model and is how they keep their retail prices down for this level of execution. That gripe is the propriatory movement. The ETA has been altered to be serviced or adjusted only by Hamilton service centres, which of course, removes the opportunity of a local watchmaker servicing the piece and which of course will be more costly.
I think this is a deliberate part of the business model. Much like car manufacturers have for some time now, made vehicles difficult for independents to service, despite EU laws to stop this.
On the other hand, the shifting of some of the revenue generated from the point of sale to the servicing and this is probably why, along with economies of scale, they are able to offer such quality.
If I didn’t already have an aviation watch (with the Hamilton H76665835), I’d get one of these. But I might anyway haha!
Love Hamilton watches, own two!! My comment is about Jomashop!! If you love watches and have bought more than one in the last two years my advise, if you are not looking @ Jomashop, then start!! Besides better prices than Amazon a lot of times!! You know who you are dealing with!!!!!! AND the big AND, they have service employees who know what they are talking about. I have returned three watches; One had marking on the case, took pictures and they started the refund process before I put the watch in the mail, Two just did not work and yes it was in brand new wrapping, no issue returning the watch, Three I just did not like the fit of the watch it was 42mm but fit closer to 44mm and I cannot wear a watch that large. No question ask on the return.
I’m finally pulling the trigger Jody… $595 seems to be too good of deal to pass up. Went back and watched this review again just to cement the idea that this is going to be the last Hamilton that I buy… Which is just silly. It won’t be! Thanks for making it seem like having too many watches is perfectly normal!
Great watch Great Review 👍
Absolutely beautiful, one of my favourite watches 😍😍😍😍😍
If you like this Swatch group watch, you should convince Jomashop send you a Certina ph200m!
Nice one! That to hear you back with the full “Helloooooo!” You must be feeling better.
It’s a nice touch that the hour hand hollow portion hovers over the numbers is represents so that you can see them through the hour hand...
Personally, the fact that the hour hand reaches slightly beyond the inner hour track kind of triggers me, I feel like it should have been a little bit shorter, but maybe it's just me, great review as always. Cheers!
This was one of the it will be nice to be part of my collection, and after watching your video for the second time, I purchased. And of course using the link! Thanks for this awesome video (as usual)
Santa , I want this watch for christmas !
I really want the Murph!
What a great all round watch plus you don't have to worry about getting it wet. That dial is really spectacular. Thanks for sharing.
I own a Hamilton Khaki Field automatic and it's one of my favorites. Beautiful, and the accuracy of the movement is amazing. I've been thinking about buying another, as well as a type B flieger. This just might scratch both itches. And yes, my Khaki Field suffers from the same AR deficiency as this one, but I can compensate for that just fine. Thanks for the review.
GREAT!!!
Now review The Murph.
