To answer a few questions regarding this video: 1. We did the Interior of a Honda & the Exterior of a VW to give you guys good interior & exterior content 2. We bought this car from the dealership and have had heaters running in it for 5 days to completely dry it out, we didnt think it was necessary to pull the carpet out. Hope you guys enjoyed! If you have any more questions, let us know!
you should have pulled the carpet to at least check for rust. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing I sold a car with months of water damage to the floor pans. You are essentially covering up the fact that it had water damage by detailing it and doing nothing to fix the damage under the carpet.
This car should not be on the road. It should be written off. Mold is a killer. I can guarantee there is mold lurking under the carpet, within the seat cushions, within the vents that has not been taken care of. This thing is going to cause who ever drives it in the future with respiratory issues or worse.
You still should have pulled the carpet out. Mold spores don't just go away even when you dry it out. I'm not trying to knock on you guys because you guys do a great job and good work. But, the carpet should have been pulled. End of story.
If kids are let loose and you have an open water bottle on a hot day it will turn into a green house and grow of all the food you or someone else dropped
I do. My boyfriend and I traveled for a cold and damp place with his grandfather’s car. So we came back and his grandpa didn’t use the car for a long time and then, after months, he seen a lot mold in all parts of the car.
Not pulling out the carpet presents a biohazard to whoever becomes the owner of the vehicle. The floorboard needs cleaning too as well as underside of the carpet. Then a complete vehicle disinfection is necessary, you have a steamer so use it for sterilization purposes.
Before using your APC and steamer cleaner spray the mold with a vinegar and water solution to help kill the mold. I had one that the sealant between the roof and body panel failed and got the interior wet. It helped tremendously!!

I did a clothe seat 2 door car that had been left with the sunroof open under a big pine tree. The pine sap was the hardest to get out and I had never tried anything like it before. I mixed my own soaps from what was available. I have no idea how much time I put into it but it looked new when I was done. I left it out in the sun for a couple 100degree days to get the last of the moisture I couldn't vacuum out and sold it no problem. Smelled great too. The people who's yard I got it from said I could have it for free if I was willing to clean it, great deal because it ran fine.
I used to work at a new car dealer, and any time a car had water in it like that, we pulled the carpets. If there is mold on the top of the carpet there is mold under the carpet that can can not clean without putting the carpet out. There may also be mold under the leather on the seats. I would have taken one of the seat covers off to check for mold inside the seat as well, and cleaned as appropriate.
Me too. The water was enough to be standing water for extended period, and the backing pad is difficult to get dry from extraction. House carpet is the same, if the pad gets soaking wet too, you must peel back the carpet to allow it to dry, or it just holds the moisture against the backing of the carpet and breaks down the glue and fibers... and as much time as WD worked the extractor diligently i think would've been more effective carpet-out.
I was about to mention this. The mold is under the carpet at this point. Carpet needs to be pulled and fully dried. Every time the humidity changes you will get moisture on the inside glass.
So to help anyone the reason car dealerships have outside car detailers detail cars is so that’s not an added expense and also because the car will go to an auction and not the dealership to be sold
You guys may want to use a course large hand brush on the carpet after shampooing to remove the machine marks. Try it, you'll like it. Also, after washing the windows twice, wipe off the cleaner residue with a crumpled page out of a newspaper.

This car is a write off. You guys did an amazing job cleaning it but that mold will never go away unless every porous material comes out and is cleaned, dehydrated, and cleaned again. It's always going to smell.
As someone who has been dealing with green mold in my house, I'd run that ozone generator for a few hours every day for about a week, and I'd try to source another set of seats and carpet from a junkyard. I had a Mustang convertible that got wet inside and the carpet got moldy. There was nothing that could get the smell out; and when I pulled it out and replaced it I could tell the padding stayed damp for days, even on a hot summer day. I ripped out the carpet in my house and threw away all my furniture and nuked the place with the ozone generator several times, and I'm still getting asthma from this dump. Next step is torching the place for the insurance. Oh and one more thing: The mold was probably pretty aggressive on the seats and handles because someone was using a natural moisturizer and conditioner on the leather and/or their hands. I used a lanolin-based conditioner on some leather jackets and boots in my house and they looked like that interior when I opened the closet one day. THAT's when I realized that I had a problem.
I recommend Biocide it kill mold spores without harming any of the cloth material like bleach would. Also my new year resolution is to start my own detailing business as well. Got everything but the Van. That will come soon.
