I have defeated diabetes! Been on insulin since 2019. Went carnivore 25th February 2024. Haven't had any insulin or metformin since that day. My HbA1c went from 56 mmol/mol in Feb to 25 mmol/mol in May. (20 - 41 is normal range, 48+ is diabetic). In that time I also lost 15kg and 6" off my waist.
Wow - so you weren't taught this in your nutrition classes? It's crazy to think that educators are so reluctant to embrace gold-standard science that contradicts historical protocols. Imagine if any other science discipline operated in this way - Newton would never have stood a chance!

As an Australian I think my Governments (State and Federal) are incompetent for not holding the health Departments to account. Health expenditure is just catastrophic, and they keep pouring money into something that is an obvious failure. I had a shock diagnosis, turned to my own research and went Keto. Wife, a lifelong vegetable eater (vegetarian for some years) who always had problems also tried Keto. Health change was fantastic. Off medication (after 30 years). Feel great, brain much clearer. Wife and I are now toying with carnivore. See our friends with problems and they are getting steadily worse yet they just think we are loonies and stick with the Doctors/food pyramid. We don't push the point at all but are somewhat surprised at their lack of interest to do their own research. Our point of view was we didn't want the course the Doctors were setting us on and a drastic change was worth a 3 month experimentation. Was very surprised at how quickly we started feeling better.

If you give her veggies, she would screw her face up and toss them on the floor for her dogs. The dog doesn't want them either. All species instinctively know what they should be eating. Daisy does.

@@johnallen7367 Children instinctively reject vegetables, but are forced to consume them by adults who have been indoctrinated to think they are doing the right thing for their infants. Children can probably deal with some carbohydrates as their growth and high metabolism will normally deal with the bad fuel before it can cause too much damage. However, standard western diets are overloading even children's ability to cope with carbohydrates. Probably the worst is cereal for breakfast which starts the daily cycle of peaks and crashes of glucose and insulin.

I am not a diabetic but epileptic who should also be eating a very low carb diet. It is not only diabetics who should be eating low carb and neurological disorders but the whole population! If you had to ask yourself what did humans eat before farming existed it is obvious meat was mostly their food.

There are still people out there who claim that exogenous carbohydrates are essential to human metabolism, and it just isn't true. No cellular process needs ingested carbs to work. Why isn't it considered a crime to say that when it obviously makes people sick over time?
Only Carbs I eat are a roasted Bulgar, cooked to an Al Dente, This was it's in a roughage state. Helps with the Laxative and feeds the Micro Biome. For I follow a Low Carb version with very good results. Once, I over cooked the Bulgar and reacted like a Pilaf Dish and knocked me out of ketosis. This Is What Works for Me!

@@defeatdiabetes I'm not diabetic. I am epileptic. In conjunction with my meds and ketosis my seizures are not completely gone but much less now. I came out of ICU ward on the 7th of May this year because of status epelepticus doing the stupid thing trying to ween myself off my meds thinking ketosis would be the answer. I have only had one seizure since leaving the ICU ward. Before I went carnivore I was having several seizures every week. While trying to ween myself off my meds and doing carnivore I was having much less seizures but then all of a sudden status epelepticus unexpectedly came and I consider myself lucky to be alive.

I’m making my own beef tallow and buy grass fed butter. That’s all I use! Make friends with your local butcher! They’ll be more then happy to sell beef fat trimmings to you instead of throwing them away. Slow cook them for about 6-12 hours, depending on how small or large pieces you cut, drain it nicely and Ta-daaa! Awesome, healthy fat to cook on! I also put it on my skin as moisturizer. It’s perfect for us humans ! 💪❤️
Only an hour ago I watched another video about a diabetic talking on a RUclips channel and said doctors are not allowed to talk about nutrition to their patients.
Not true in Australia, but the sad truth is that most doctors don't receive any nutrition training and so don't feel qualified to discuss dietary interventions with patients. They end up having to refer patients to dietitians. Not all dietitians are on board with low carb as a tool for type 2 diabetes remission (despite the overwhelming evidence and Diabetes Australia also endorsing this approach - and being a proud partner of Defeat Diabetes). Not true in the UK either. My husband T2 Diabetic went on an 8 week programme on low carb with the NHS with a group meeting every week. Both the diabetic nurse and GP always focus and discuss diet.

why not promote animal fats? most olive oil is not only olive oil. you have to make sure it isn't adulterated w/ other cheap seed oils. ghee, butter, tallow, lard...they are my fats.

While food does play a key role in keeping blood glucose levels within target ranges, there is also an important link between exercise and blood glucose regulation. Muscles prioritise burning glucose if its in the blood. If you're eating low carb while exercising, your body will burn fat instead for fuel. Increased muscle from exercise also boosts your body's insulin sensitivity which means your cells become more efficient at using the insulin available to process any glucose (very important for those living with type 2 diabetes). The last, but no less important, reason that exercise is important is that it releases endorphins which lower stress levels. Stress can lead to weight gain through the release of cortisol so reducing stress is always a good thing!

Dietary fat so long as it's not derived from seed oils is not a problem Processed carbohydrates are the villain. We don't need to be afraid of fats,while probably not binging on them either.
When consumed with carbs 😂 carbs are also ok without fat. So choose your macro. But think it through: what one gets from carbs vs what one gets from fats and what is more essential.

@@defeatdiabetes I'm not diabetic. I am epileptic. In conjunction with my meds and ketosis my seizures are not completely gone but much less now. I came out of ICU ward on the 7th of May this year because of status epelepticus doing the stupid thing trying to ween myself off my meds thinking ketosis would be the answer. I have only had one seizure since leaving the ICU ward. Before I went carnivore I was having several seizures every week. While trying to ween myself off my meds and doing carnivore I was having much less seizures but then all of a sudden status epelepticus unexpectedly came and I consider myself lucky to be alive.

Grain and produce farming, farming equipment, chemicals used in farming, organizations, etc. don’t want to go out of business let alone change their focus to healthy foods which are good for the climate, environment, and humans.
We also as consumers needs to speak up - perhaps if enough of us demand change the producers will see the value in supplying healthier foods!

Low carb for a year or so. Down a clothing size, and none of my clothes fit! Cook in ghee. Avoid eating out , processed food.

I’m making my own beef tallow and buy grass fed butter. That’s all I use!
Make friends with your local butcher! They’ll be more then happy to sell beef fat trimmings to you instead of throwing them away. Slow cook them for about 6-12 hours, depending on how small or large pieces you cut, drain it nicely and Ta-daaa! Awesome, healthy fat to cook on! I also put it on my skin as moisturizer. It’s perfect for us humans !

Only an hour ago I watched another video about a diabetic talking on a RUclips channel and said doctors are not allowed to talk about nutrition to their patients.
Not true in Australia, but the sad truth is that most doctors don't receive any nutrition training and so don't feel qualified to discuss dietary interventions with patients. They end up having to refer patients to dietitians. Not all dietitians are on board with low carb as a tool for type 2 diabetes remission (despite the overwhelming evidence and Diabetes Australia also endorsing this approach - and being a proud partner of Defeat Diabetes). Not true in the UK either. My husband T2 Diabetic went on an 8 week programme on low carb with the NHS with a group meeting every week. Both the diabetic nurse and GP always focus and discuss diet.

why not promote animal fats? most olive oil is not only olive oil. you have to make sure it isn't adulterated w/ other cheap seed oils. ghee, butter, tallow, lard...they are my fats.

Yes, seed oils (and hydrogenation) are probably the other major factor besides carbohydrates. Both are used extensively in industrially processed "foods".

While food does play a key role in keeping blood glucose levels within target ranges, there is also an important link between exercise and blood glucose regulation. Muscles prioritise burning glucose if its in the blood. If you're eating low carb while exercising, your body will burn fat instead for fuel. Increased muscle from exercise also boosts your body's insulin sensitivity which means your cells become more efficient at using the insulin available to process any glucose (very important for those living with type 2 diabetes). The last, but no less important, reason that exercise is important is that it releases endorphins which lower stress levels. Stress can lead to weight gain through the release of cortisol so reducing stress is always a good thing!
