A lot of designers have an attitude of I did it right the first time every time, I make no mistakes. This is a designer that truly wants a better shoe for his customers knowing if he can give them truly what they want in a shoe they'll come back, especially with that level of detail he's willing to put in to figure it out.

    • @joshm9782
      @joshm9782 2 месяца назад +7

      Also if you pay attention to the shoes they are probably prototype shoes with a very basic design to the shoe and the sole is possibly made of cork making them easy to adjust it also wouldn’t surprise me if the leather was lower quality than the final product as well as it was made simply to get the finer details of the shoe so it fits perfectly. TLDR the shoe was likely made knowing it was going to be cut up like it was in the short.

Everyone needs shoes, everyone has different feet, and everyone needs those shoes to last YEARS (at least before mass-availability became a thing) - and even after theyve gone a thousand miles, they should still be able to be repaired instead of replaced, because now those shoes are perfect for you specifically. People preferred new (second hand) over repaired. It was generally cheaper and better quality.

    I actually had an argument with someone the other day. They were trying to claim that it’s impossible to do anything other than slowly walk around in leather dress shoes or suits/formal wear. I said that a pair of expertly made bespoke shoes will fit and be more comfortable than any off the rack tennis shoes you could possibly buy. I said that if a suit is made bespoke by an expert, you could probably get away with those James Bond moves, and it would be so comfortable you’d barely notice you’re wearing it. Men just don’t know about high quality clothing anymore.

    • @utkarsh2746

      Not unless your "bespoke" shoes and suits have stretchable material in them. That has nothing to do with the "cut" it's the material and stitching that would tear if you started doing lunges and overhead press in a suit. Had a lot of "bespoke" clothing over the years and never once was any dress shirt or suit designed to be doing pull ups or playing basketball in them.
