Very humble and respectful guy. Love how when Kirby mentions how detailed his measurements are compared to other artisans, he just plays it down and talks about his way of doing things instead of trying to compare himself or put himself above other artisans.
Because 90% of those measurements are pretty much complete BS. If he really needed such a detailed measurement system to make the shoes he would simply invest in a foot scanning device. Most of this is really just for show.
BS. Two unthinking men doing their part to destroy the planet via wasteful use of materials. Millimeters of adjustment make NO difference in actual wear and use. An excuse to waste finite materials and give egotistical purpose.

This is the first video in the series were the shoemaker has taken the amount of measurements you would expect were needed to make such a bespoke and accurate shoe!
That’s a pretty detailed measurement process. I’ve been measured by JLP, Corthay, and Nicholas Templeman and JLP was the most detailed of the 3 but is still significantly less than G&G’s process.
It is truly fascinating the difference in measurements between various bespoke makers. We just filmed Nicholas Templeman taking my measurements, and he’s the polar opposite of G&G’s approach. Very fascinating that such different approaches still end up et the same result.
I wear vans and converse shoes... Idk how I ended up here but this is quite amazing, it makes me want to buy some of these shoes and go through the measurements process for no apparent reason 🙄
Very true on the feet being different, my right has a slightly larger circumference vs the left, and my left is slightly wider at across the toes vs the right.
I have had shoes made before, but nothing like this and it was an eye-opening experience. keep it up, do you mind asking why he doesn't use a computer scan of the feet next time please.
If I was this guy, I would definitely have the client step up on a specially made table. So I could stand up and take the measurements. That hurt my knees watching that.
during the measurement process, you can see how well cut Tony's jacket is - there's no collar gap even when he bowed down, extended his arms, crouched, the exact amount of drape on the back arm just gave him that lovely reach of movements! Kirby's, on the other hand, gapped terribly at the back collar even with simple handshake movement
I actually noticed how well Tony’s jacket fit as well. I didn’t know any coat could support all those movements it’s pretty impressive really. I wonder who the maker is?
@@lapizza7206 I wonder the same, too. cant really make a guesss as the video is from side profile. I can only guess the cloth is by Marling and Evans (?)
Kirby's collar is buttoned and tight. Mr. Gaziano's is not buttoned. It's loose and that's the difference. And they look like different fabric. Kirby gets his clothes from the best bespoke craftsman in the world bud lol.... Quit picking on Kirby....
A lot of times collar gap comes rom uneven droopy shoulders, it's hard to get ride of collar gap under movement with this and Kirby (sorry don't want to sound mean but) has pretty bad posture/alignment. With the money he spends on suits I'd spend sometime working with a Kelly Starette type mobility specialist and fix them in a few months. Pretty simple to do and makes you look 1000x better in a good suit.
im really impressed of how much effort is put into this, to get the exact measurements of the foot shape and size, a get the ultimate customer satisfaction. im an IT guy i had an idea watching this video, what if the is a device where it will take the exact measurement of the foot in 3D model and u can print it in the flexible filament to mimic the foot movement. i could be wrong but i think it will take less time and get accurate measurement.
Mr. Allison...you have tremendous expertise and great knowledge of traditional and current styling, but I was wondering why the length of the inside narrow portion of your tie exceeded the length of the wider portion, which is supposed to conceal that smaller segment? None of us will present ourselves perfectly every day, as sometimes our best is truly wonderful, and other days, it may suck. But, as long as we do our best for that day, then that should be acceptable. For me, being of shorter stature, I have to take care not to have my tie, look like yours. I do have some custom suits, but just couldn't see at this point in my life of spending huge sums on shoes. However, I have learned quite a bit from your channels, and appreciate that you are extremely knowledgeable, and seem to be a very good person. I wish you the very best. Now, tie your tie the right way.... as your style is typically impeccable!
By the looks of it that tie is simply to big. The broad side is already at the bottom of his chest, if Kirby where to make it any longer to conceal the thin side, the broad side would be ridiculously long. That’s what I’m guessing anyway.
I'm surprised this hasn't been replaced by 3d scanning or faro arm measurements before 3d printing a last. Would that not save alot of the fitting process to get a perfect fit?
Most probably it could be or is replaced by these technologies. But also you can use broth as powder from the super-market - or you take your time, village market veggies, bones from a butcher that buys from a privately owned farm.
