I personally never send my vintage cards to PSA unless they are centered and no creases. The whole point of grading is to invest in selling them in the future. When you factor in the cost if they are graded, you actually get more money in your pocket by selling non centered cards on e-bay when they are not graded. At least that's what I've learned from personal experience.
Grading also encapsulates and preserves for future years, so if I think a card, even if it’s beaten, will rise in value in 5-10 years, grading makes sense. Love the 1974 Topps Baseball set! By the way, I must have been in a "test" area because all my 1975 BB cards were the "mini" variety.

@@DavidGonos I guess I learn something every time (this was my 2nd PSA submission). It seems they were VERY corner particular on this batch. Centering is big but not as big as corners. Then I had a batch of '89 Hoops cards. Thought I filtered out the best Michael Jordan's (I had quite a few) but the two All-Star cards of him, which I thought were the best candidates for "10" came back "6" (basically worthless). Think about if you bought a card off of someone on eBay and they said it would 16 months to ship. It’s criminal what PSA did in the past 2 years to collectors.
Yeah I think with a crease like that on the Campbell you can’t really hope for anything better than a 4 or so, if the card was absolutely perfect besides that.

Give csg a try
Yep, I like CSG, and they are making big moves in the grading market. I sent in a handful to them last month and had some good results - but they hit me with a 3 for a rookie Lawrence Taylor. Unforgivable! Haha
Think about if you bought a card off of someone on eBay and they said it would 16 months to ship. It’s criminal what PSA did in the past 2 years to collectors.
At the very least, they should offer some freebies to those who waited past 6 mos.
Surprised you didn’t send them to SGC wearing a tuxedo shirt. 16 months is unacceptable
SGC is the way to go these days.
Lots of great slabs!!!!! Sheesh lots of wait time but worth it!!! CHEERS!!!!!!!
You got that right! Thanks, Jason!
I live near Georgetown. Blue Hole cliffs are awesome!
Nice, I’ve heard of Blue Hole - I gotta check it out!
Love the shirt!! Tuxedo time but it's PSA🤣 is it birds eye pepper?
Hahaha I plan on making all future reveals tuxedo shirt time!
It’s called African Bird Pepper - good spice!
@@DavidGonos perfect!👌 I've got some hot sauce that uses birds eye pepper. Very spicy as well. From Malawi.
Peri Peri hot sauce! Yummy stuff! 🔥😍🔥
@@SPICY_BEAR it is good! My favorite
@@anthonym5917 oh yeah!?! I might have to try that! I love some flavorful hot sauces.
Some really sweet cards, great variety but really stumped on that 3 for the Campbell card? Love those sound affects too!
Thanks! That Campbell grade broke my heart. The viewers/commenters helped me figure out what sound effects to use, haha thanks!
Did psa supply that 206 spacer on the pujols?
No, that’s actually part of the card.
Yeah I think with a crease like that on the Campbell you can’t really hope for anything better than a 4 or so, if the card was absolutely perfect besides that.
Yep, I’ve come to grips with it. Haha
Thanks for the wonderful content. Keep up the good work David!
Thanks, Aaron! I very much appreciate your feedback!
Enjoyed the show
I'll try to source a "manlier" champagne glass for your next Topps Reveal.
That's why you're the best ... outside of when you bust me for saying the wrong company. Haha
I like your fun and post energy, David. Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks, JDK! I try to have fun with it - so I very much appreciate people that want to have fun along with me! Thanks for watching and commenting - what do you like to collect?
Not bad. The degrom is great. You didn't do too bad at all
Thanks, Ray! I do love that deGrom!
Comical on the Campbell RC. Dead silence 😂. Great cards Dave👍
Hahaha that was a completely authentic reaction haha! Thanks for watching and commenting!
16 months? They smokin crack? I'm not familiar with the card scene, but 16 months sounds rather.. Obscene.
Yeah, it’s a little crazy. And they still have another order that will be 17-months old in a couple weeks. Haha
People went crazy Grading their dollar cards during COVID making a huge back log
I celebrated by cracking 6 out of the 10 cards I sent in These companies are so inconsistent
@@BobMarley-ol6xt oh wow, how did they do when you sent to another company?
@@DavidGonos Let you know in 6 weeks Just did it today lol But in the past I've done ok with it Really depends on who is looking at your cards This time it was a SGC order one of the cards was a resub from a HGA order Went from a HGA 8 to a SGC 9 But the way PSA has been so strict in the last year I've been buying 8s and lower to resub down the road With the current grading prices I'm only slabbing cards I plan to sell right away until they run specials
New sub. Even though the grades aren’t always awesome, it’s always nice just or have them slabbed sometimes! Good video!
I couldn’t agree more - especially when they were in your collection for decades and you just want to protect them from getting in worse condition. Haha
PSA order reveal, but dressed for #SGC Tuxedo Time!!! 🤵
Hahaha yeah, my plan is to wear that for all my reveals going forward. Thanks for watching, Bryan!
Great show! Looking to send in my first batch to SGC and hoping to unveil them on my show in the near future.
Oh awesome, think about doing a show where you guess what the grades are before you send it in! I will subscribe and look forward to the reveal!
I will agree sending off Cano and Bonds cards to be graded is a mistake. Next time you can send them Tatis Jr. I don't collect cheaters. Also you illustrate why not to send off to PSA. 16 months is beyond ridiculous.
Yeah, if I could do over, I wouldn’t send Cano. I’d still send Bonds tho. I’m working on some cards to send to SGC next. Thanks for watching and commenting, Ken!
Just found your channel.
Great reveal - I love these cards ! Even moreso - I enjoyed the fun you had with these, and how you so appreciate the cards themselves.
I liked the setup of how you have your guesses on cards in the background. I’m approaching 17 months on a PSA order I’m antsy to get back !! 75 cards from their 1960s special. I keep hoping “any day now”. I’ll do a reveal on my channel.
Great video and commentary again.
Wow! 75 cards from that era! I will be checking your channel out for sure! Thank you very much for your kind words! Cards are all about fun, but too many in this industry are basing their mortgages on cards, which makes it a little less fun for them. Haha thanks again!
I just checked your channel out and watched a little of one of your “Big Vintage Repack Rips”! I have to jump on a Zoom meeting, but can you explain to our viewers what those BVRRs is? Do you sell them or buy them from someone else? How does it work?
I'm glad you finally got them back home. I'm still at 16 months and counting on my vintage quarterly special order.
Oh man, yeah, I’m still waiting on a vintage order too. Still in grading stage after a couple months.
Nice cards. Love that George Brett, the '75 set has to be one of my favorite designs. Pretty sweet grade cover you made there 😉
IT’S YOU!!! Man, I’ve been trying to hunt your name/channel down to give you credit!!! What’s your name? On the next one, I’ll give you card-cover credit!!!
@@DavidGonos lol, my name's Aaron. Been watching your videos for awhile, good stuff 👍🏻. Got a chuckle when you pulled out that grade cover. I call mine the top hat, because I mainly grade with SGC, top hat goes with the tux. I remember pulling one of those "limited edition" classic Shaq's, mine has a smashed corner unfortunately. I think my favorite card from your sub is the Frank Thomas rookie sensations. Your right, they were a very big deal, only in the Jumbo's if I remember. The big hurt is one of my PC guys. Look forward to more videos. Peace.
@@thecardclosetcanada5443 haha the top hat! That’s brilliant. I made one for PSA, SGC and HGA horizontal slabs (I have four coming back soon). My Classic Shaq had a dinged corner out of the pack, too! I forgot those Rookie Sensations only came in the jumbos! Yeah, man, tough get when you’re only spending like $10 a week on cards back then. Thanks for relaying this and for watching! I also stole your idea of putting the card with the guessed grade on there… Man, I’m an IP thief! Sorry about that. Thanks for being cool about it! I will attribute it going forward!
@@DavidGonos for sure man, no worries. Just keep making good content. Taker er easy.
I would get them regraded they looked alot better than the grade you got. I would go with cgc. PSA miss grade cards all the time. Loved them all.
Thank you for commenting! I’ll probably leave as is, just cuz most of them are PC cards hand I don’t want to chase with more grading money. I do like CSG tho for sure. Thanks for watching!
Awesome stack of cards there! Love the 2002 Pujols bat relic! And a DeGrom RC!! Very nice. ☺
16 month wait is absurd. 😨
Thanks, man, yeah I was real happy with both of those. I don’t have a Pujols rookie, so that bat relic might have to be my best Pujols card!
@@DavidGonos I'm in the same boat, still haven't got around to adding a Pujols RC to my collection. Probably going to go for a PSA 10 someday. 😃
It always seems like the George Brett 1975 card is graded tougher than others.
Oh interesting! Mine had that crease, which I don’t remember, but was very likely there to begin with. Haha
I'm just curious as I'm a new card collector and would like to send some cards to be graded. How do you get the estimated value of the card?
The best way is to guess at the grade, or the range of grades it might be, and search for those cards on eBay. Just make sure you filter by items sold, so u see the final prices. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Man just show us the Damm cards
I wish I had some Jean Claude Van Damm cards to show you! Those would be awesome.
16 months - holy crap. I"m sorry but this card grading thing is a scam. they should pay YOU back money...
Hahaha
They need tp update 1972 is not mkdern...as time goes on when will 90s be vintage. Or modern is just forever now?? I mean most collectors werent even born in the 70s yet its modern lol...this hobby sometimes
Yeah, I think they already have, to be honest. They're cutoff is 1996 now, which makes a lot more sense considering how many ultra-modern cards are getting graded these days. Thanks for watching and commenting! Tell us about your channel a little bit!
@@DavidGonos i just show off my collection and speak about current card events check it out!
@@budgetcardbreaks oh great! That sounds good, maybe some of our viewers can check it out too.
never send in cards 7 or lower. If all corners are jacked, or any creasing on surface, DON"T send it.
All good rules to live by, although, I have a bunch of vintage I’m waiting on that will have similar low grades. Honestly, I love the cards and I just wanted them slabbed.
@@DavidGonos Great answer and the only answer. If you just want it slabbed and aware of condition, by all means, get it slabbed.
@@brockman562 Thanks, Manny! What do you like to send in for grading?
@@DavidGonos I honestly have yet to do it, but when I do, cards that look like 10s...or 9s, for any sport except hockey.
That doesn’t apply to vintage, only Modern
That Degrom Gem Mint 10 was great. Of course I personally love those Orioles cards lol
Haha thanks! I thought the Ripken card would’ve done better, but I’ll take it!
F Psa, they grade for crap and take forever and charge you to much. Sgc grades extremely accurate and to me look better than psa. Psa just gives off a slimeball vibe.
SGC continues to be on the rise for sure.
16 months? Lol people are dying before getting their cards back
Oh man, I always thought about people moving in between that time period (I moved from Orlando to Austin!), but I never even thought about how many people died in that time span!
The first mistake you made was grading in the first place lol. Grading is an absolute sham.
Thanks, Chris - unfortunately, it’s the best way to have your cards valued for quicker, easy sales. Plus, it looks good and protects it from future wear. I appreciate your opinion, though. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Welcome to the wonderful world of getting your cards graded!😄It is very exciting, nerve racking and will humble you. But I still do it but I've only graded with SGC. I like getting my cards back super quick for the standard price. But I pretty much only do vintage so SGC is great for that stuff. Enjoyed the video!
Thanks buddy, SGC is great, too. I have a few I’m getting ready to send them again.
It's goofballs like this that are going to find out the hard way that they probably shouldn't brag about the thousands of dollars of worth of cards they have just strewn all over their house. Somebody's going to figure out where you live and come snatch all of those $1,000 cards off of your walls, because if I can come up with it, real bad guys already have and are probably making plans...
I’m a goofball? Thanks, guy.
@@DavidGonos just wait man, you can deny what I'm saying all day long but one of these days, somebody that's much worse than me will see one of these videos and see the thousands of dollars you have arrogantly posted all over your walls and in your videos, they will figure out where you live and they will come Rob you.. when it happens, I sure hope you make a video about THAT... And I'm sure I could have called you much worse, I thought I was being nice...

@@guywilliams6569 Just a weird thing to say and post on someone’s video - but I appreciate what you’re saying. Just not how you’re saying it.
@@DavidGonos it's definitely not a weird thing to say on someone's video, especially when that's exactly what they are doing and you are providing the exact example of the person I'm talking about. Instead of getting upset about it, you should understand the seriousness and what I'm saying and be grateful that I pointed something out to you that you clearly haven't thought about. You wouldn't sit there and post your bank account information all over the web would you? Do you have a bunch of gold and silver in your house that you just leave on display and make videos showing everybody where to find it? Sometimes, you can't just have people on the shoulder, sometimes you have to smack them in the back of the head with a shovel :-)
@@guywilliams6569 Thank you
16 months? why the hell do you guys put yourself in so much pain and deal with a company with such BAD service?
Well, to be fair, I sent these in before they had these turnaround times - March of 2021. But to your point of my insanity, I did send 12 more in last month, that I likely won’t get back until January of 2023. Haha
PSA is over priced
who would ever grade these 3,4 5, 6 ...there is no market for them ....to pay money to grading companies is just plain stupid for a collector...when it comes time to sell them you will get 40% ...period ..grading except for the very rare cards is totally worthless.
Thanks for your opinion, di sn
I enjoyed watching this video, thank you!
Oh great! Thank you for watching and commenting!
