How much you paid to grade every card by psa. Because I’m a collector and I’m checking my cards now and I was thinking about sending my card to be graded, but I was worried about the same thing you were talking about

I'm a small sender myself and cannot agree with this at all. When I inspect my cards carefully and have "honest" grade expectations, 90% of the times get the grade in the expected range, and that includes gems as well. What I did notice is that on every larger delivery, there are one or two excessively low grades which i cannot reconcile. It was basically launched for/by insiders. First card was the Honus Wgner owned by convict Bruce McNall and degenerate gambler Gretzky. It was admittedly trimmed by PSA itself yet has never been re-slabbed.
PSA damaged my 1968 Topps Jim Palmer card. It was a solid 8, but they creased it and gave it a 5. I believe I figured out how they are damaging and creasing so many cards. The card savers are part of the problem. They are too flimsy and bend easily. If you have a grader that squeezes the card saver at the top with their thumb on one side and their index finger on the other side it is very easy to accidentally bend the card saver. As A result, this puts a crease usually down the middle of the card in a vertical direction. Depending on how hard they squeezed to get the card saver to open far enough to take the card out will also determine how long the crease will go down the card. I really believe that’s how the creasing is happening. Try it for yourself and just take a empty card saver and squeeze or pinch the sides hard enough and the card saver will collapse either inward or outward depending on your directional pressure. I won’t ever send another card to PSA for grading. More people need to boycott PSA whenever something like this occurs to them. Haven't sent any cards for grading since 2004. What a farce grading is. How can people afford buying expensive cards, blasters, boxes, hangers, etc, and then the need to get them graded. Crazy!
I have heard of ppl resuming their cards through other companies getting better grades and paid for damaged cards. Thank you for this video I will not be using psa. I have a lot of vintage cards to get graded soon.
I prefer SGC for vintage . But modern stuff you have to go with PSA because the value is 2X or more for a PSA 10 vs SGC 10 . Until people stop paying a premium for PSA slabs they are almost a necessary evil.
Damn that's crazy on the damage. I always buy my vintage already graded. I have sent atleast 2,000 Modern Mike Trout cards to PSA for registry and never had an issue. Sorry to hear about your issues. Good Luck out there.
I just got back a vintage order from PSA as well. I sent the order in myself with the vintage special they had in February. There is no doubt they are so inconsistent, especially compared to SGC. I thought they over graded a number of my cards and my 89 Upper Deck Griffey rookie is crooked in the case. I prefer SGC all day with vintage and I think most non set registry folks are heading that way as well. Sorry about the damaged cards and thanks for sharing
psa are crooks ruining the market from the get go first card they ever graded was half a card 2nd carxd psa graded was later discovered hafd been trimmed anx authenticating fake autos
Sorry to hear that about your Robinson man. I’m with you. I think im just going to stick with SGC. Love the color scheme on the 75 Hunter. Thanks for sharing
That 75 Jim Hunter is gold but PSA favors bulk submitters, they are inconsistent and they do pop control The 1968 rookie Ryan is a perfect example of that. You make a valid point here… 1 mil cards a month yet all these PSA fanboys stand beside them. To me if they actually had a grading criteria chart that specified how they grade for each grade and it was industry standard then it would remove the “ what will it grade” factor.
The damage could've happened in shipping. The 75 Hunter is as close to miscut as you can get if it's not. It must be from the bottom of the sheet if there isn't another card with how bad OC it is. A diamond cut would reduce it 1 grade at least as well. I think they got that right.
Grading companies should record the receiving process to show how packages are accepted in, from carriers. Because there is a variable risk of damage after leaving your hands, and before graders obtain it.
Nice! Yeah PSA can be a bit unfair...... I think the PSA 8 Carlton wins for me. I also have the '69 Clemente and '66 Koufax (non-graded). Bought the Koufax for $75 raw, probably worth grading. Oh yeah, Liked and just subbed too.
That is an interesting topic as far as them handling your cards. I’ve always found it very difficult and a bit sketchy to insert my cards into those mylar top loaders. My assumption was that they insist on you using those because they can use an X-Acto knife to simply slice the top loader and remove it without any chance of damaging the card. For them to grab it with their thumb and try to remove it is beyond Ludacris. Does anyone have any more information on how they handle those top loaders?
I always wondered If these card grading companies may pull a switch-a-roo" If you will? What I mean Is, If you send In a 1966 Mantle in Nr-Mt condition, and It comes back in Ex-Mt, who's to say that they just didn't switch your card out for the same card but in lesser condition? Why wouldn't this happen?!😮......
@@richardpeetrinpeetrin9817 definitely! Personally I have made it a habit to write down several comments on each card i submit, especially for those that are unnumbered and when I submit multiples. Those comments include the slightest details i can see, auch as centering, scratches, dings, print lines. aside from serving for my own assessment of grading worthiness, this helps me to afterwards identify which copy was witch when they would otherwise look identical. For instance, my last submission included 10 Dirk rookie cards of the same type, and i was able to identify each one with absolute certainty even after they were slabbed. We send in ourselves and there was so far never any doubt that the slabbed cards were the ones sent in. I have had cases however, where the cards after grading had visible damage like a white corner after they came back, which I knew for a fact they did not have when sending them in. So handling damages, albeit small, do happen on occasion within PSA. In my case, i did not have picture documentation to prove it and submit a claim, unfortunately...
Don’t send personal orders into BGS either, same thing. SGC all the way, even TAG I’d send personal orders to before PSA and BGS. PSA must be taken bribes
What if your cards were swapped out by the 3rd party and PSA for a worse condition card> You will never know now. Do you have pics of before to compare?
A friend of mine has sent vintage beauties to a newer grader, FCG. Super nice slabs with subgrades for $14 bucks-any cards and NO FRICKIN' CARD SAVERS required! I hate those things, too.
I know this is a year old, but who would you recommend for vintage card grading? I've never had a card graded, and really don't know who to use. Thanks.
Anything vintage should go to SGC. Don't know why he would send to PSA. I send modern cards that I'm going to sell to PSA. But all personal collection cards I also send to SGC. I love the tuxedo.
Agreed the consistency just isn’t there. I’ve seen sharp uncreased cards with decent centering that look like 6’s or 7’s coming back 4’s recently. It doesn’t really make sense. Best bet anymore if you want a certain card in a certain grade, just buy it already slabbed. I’m over it. I learned how to grade before PSA. If I have a nice raw PC card that I’m happy with, it usually doesn’t get sent in anymore. I know what I have. A buddy of mine had a minty, I mean we looked at the corners under 10x and there wasn't a touch on any of them - '68 Ryan rookie, only it was miscut side-to-side. I was expecting him to get like an 8 or 9 (MC). PSA gave him a 4 (MC). Absolutely laughable, there was nothing else wrong with that card besides the cut. They also pop control the big names, and players like Ryan are a prime example. So especially in a condition sensitive set like '71, it's going to be a lot easier to get grades on the level out of a pile of commons than it is players like Ryan or Clemente or Aaron. Sad. It's been more or less like this for decades, but it's particularly bad right now.
I agree with I will not use PSA either I got back I Trevor Lawrence prizm silver that I though was perfect it got a 6 so just to see I recent it back and this time it got a 10 but I had to pay twice to get the correct grade and it was ultra modern. I have been using CSG for vintage they seem really consistent and I love the slabs
Your right sent in 15 1971 and 1975 Bert Blyleven and everyone came back as a 6. Even with the naked eye you can see they were not the same. Rediculous.
I refuse to send to PSA until they grade like TAG. They need to be more consistent regardless of who you are or how you are sending them in to be graded. Also, the creasing sounds like an automated scanning machine that creases the card via a roller that creases the card in the process of taking card in and out of the scanner. No way are they hand scanning over a million cards per month front/back without automation.
PSA is the most inconsistent card grader out there in my opinion Not to mention when them mantle PSA 10s ever pop up People are going to find out they were altered PSA graded so many altered cards eventually it's going to catch up with them
So true. I think all those Mantle 10s are bogus. You take a card out of a package back then and you did not pop it in a protective sleeve. They were handled. Big big money in those.
I talked to a grader and I see you are putting "tabs" on them. I was actually told it's easier to not have those on there as they can lead to the damage of the card. Just some food for thought
I completely understand that collectors enjoy having cards in the best condition possible. I am just stumped as to why someone would pay another person to basically provide their opinion on the condition of my card. It is clear that every “grader” has different quality standards.
note all your grades...crack them and send them to sgc or cgc...i did that...cracked 25 cards out of psa cases...sent them to cgc and they got an average of 2 grades higher. thats how much bullshit is going on at psa right now. its literally like they are just randomly slapping a number on them.
What sucks the most is you have to document your orders because you can’t trust the graders which is why your paying in the first place. Also no explanation on the grades
PSA damaged my friends 48 Robinson. They had already gave it a 6 before crimping it in the slab. then they screwed him on the insurance. All in cost him $6000. He still used them for another few months before getting tired of their upcharges and other "stuff". I dont use any grader, period. People seem to be liking TAG though, just havent caught on crazy big yet.

75 Hunter way way off center, I'm surprised it didn't get a MC
Love your vintage
I just got back a vintage order from PSA as well. I sent the order in myself with the vintage special they had in February. There is no doubt they are so inconsistent, especially compared to SGC. I thought they over graded a number of my cards and my 89 Upper Deck Griffey rookie is crooked in the case. I prefer SGC all day with vintage and I think most non set registry folks are heading that way as well. Sorry about the damaged cards and thanks for sharing
In terms of looks, I think SGC definitely wins hands down.
psa are crooks ruining the market from the get go first card they ever graded was half a card 2nd carxd psa graded was later discovered hafd been trimmed anx authenticating fake autos
I know beckett slabs continue to decline - but I wish all graders included the grades for the different aspects of a card.
They didn’t put a crease in it they swapped it
Definitely creased, I take pictures and videos of all the cards I send out. Easy to identify they're the same card that came back to me
I got a PHOTO COPY ONLY ...of Honus Wagner T-206 factory No.25 29 DIST. VA. with ink stamped on the back.... It was took from the original card ..
Sorry to hear that about your Robinson man. I’m with you. I think im just going to stick with SGC. Love the color scheme on the 75 Hunter. Thanks for sharing
PSA 5 also includes cards with light scratches on surface.
PSA miss graded some of my cards so I broke them back out & sold them raw for better than the PSA grade would have sold for.
This would much rather happen at card stores or other group submitters that submit for you, i think
@@intersheett3754 One thing Is for sure, It wouldn't happen with "numbered cards."......
When you just started...you were so excited about psa..
Just be happy your losses are minimal compared to others..
Don’t send personal orders into BGS either, same thing. SGC all the way, even TAG I’d send personal orders to before PSA and BGS. PSA must be taken bribes
They don't explain why they graded it certain way?
I’ve always wondered with graded how can the sender know if the grader is
Switching out cards? Nothing would surprise me
What if your cards were swapped out by the 3rd party and PSA for a worse condition card> You will never know now. Do you have pics of before to compare?
I record videos and take pictures of every card. They're not swapped
SGC really is much better. I don't use PSA anymore either
Right. I love SGC, cheaper too!
Those card savers don't protect the cards very well. Never understood why they make you use them over top loaders.
A friend of mine has sent vintage beauties to a newer grader, FCG. Super nice slabs with subgrades for $14 bucks-any cards and NO FRICKIN' CARD SAVERS required! I hate those things, too.
I only use top loaders now when submitting cards
Rough man. For older cards, always send to SGC, if your feel cards are perfect send to BGS, only send to PSA to flip
Agree with PSA.. I am 100% sure they screwed my Yount 2nd year.. Never again..
I’ve compiled my cards ‘61-early 90’s recently. Can anyone recommend a site to sell them as a bulk price? Thanks
I may be interested in buying. What do you have?
The catfish 75 is miscut. Way oc top to bottom
5:30 centering is brutal. not saying it justifies the grade of 4, though
Why not sgc?
How much for the two over graded Hammerin’ Hank’s????
Those are from my uncle, not selling them
I agree with I will not use PSA either I got back I Trevor Lawrence prizm silver that I though was perfect it got a 6 so just to see I recent it back and this time it got a 10 but I had to pay twice to get the correct grade and it was ultra modern. I have been using CSG for vintage they seem really consistent and I love the slabs
Your right sent in 15 1971 and 1975 Bert Blyleven and everyone came back as a 6. Even with the naked eye you can see they were not the same. Rediculous.
SGC , can you recommend a couple more outfits that are classy and budget friendly?
Thanks for the video I haven't sent my cards to PSA and looks like they are very anal with grading. I'll have to go with beck or GC.
Could the damaged cards possibly be exchanged by somebody within the company?
Who do you recommend for grading instead of PSA?
I changed to SGC a few years ago. Will never use PSA again they are so inconsistent on grading it’s not funny. They are just a modern card grader
I love SGC, I wish the resale would catch up to PSA. Vintage isn't too bad most of the time but modern cards get hammered if they aren't PSA
How much did they charge for all those?
Psa bent the corner of my 70 Reggie. I was disappointed in them, but had no recourse as I did not pre-pic.
Who would you use if not PSA/ I have 30 cards tthat I need to submit. Thank you for your feedback.
Love all your cards. Sorry to hear about PSA crap. Just one question, how can a 67 Banks with crease in it get a 5?
Do you work for sgc
PSA switched 2 cards of mine. I sent them proof and they never responded. Will never use them again.
Wow! I appreciate the video! Sorry about your cards!
I completely understand that collectors enjoy having cards in the best condition possible. I am just stumped as to why someone would pay another person to basically provide their opinion on the condition of my card. It is clear that every “grader” has different quality standards.
Suggestions buy cards that are already graded by either PSA ir the other business companies
Use SGC or tag they are both lower price usually
note all your grades...crack them and send them to sgc or cgc...i did that...cracked 25 cards out of psa cases...sent them to cgc and they got an average of 2 grades higher. thats how much bullshit is going on at psa right now. its literally like they are just randomly slapping a number on them.
What sucks the most is you have to document your orders because you can’t trust the graders which is why your paying in the first place. Also no explanation on the grades
I am with you
has to do with how centered the front and back are that's why you thought you would get a six or seven you got a four.
why dont share your photos you say have side by side with the graded cards?
Who are you sending your cards to? Sounds like your saying SEC or is it SGC?
SGC
PSA damaged my friends 48 Robinson. They had already gave it a 6 before crimping it in the slab. then they screwed him on the insurance. All in cost him $6000. He still used them for another few months before getting tired of their upcharges and other "stuff". I dont use any grader, period. People seem to be liking TAG though, just havent caught on crazy big yet.
Screw PSA..they are to petty with Vintage cards. Same experience here with them. They are human and they WILL commit MISTAKES. Send mines to Beckett. No complains. So far.
Damaged or swapped out your better card for one with damage card they have in a drawer specifically for the purpose of swapping the cards.
Anything with a 4 that otherwise looks good usually has a crease or surface wrinkle.
Just found your channel!! Are you looking to sell any? Jay
Sometimes but not always. My discord server is pinned. Best place to reach me if you're interested in any is on discord
did you look at the surfce of that 75 aaron , lookz terrible to me should have gitten a 3
I always buy the card not the grade
Hola to you man you are right I am glad I stop and watch your video I have a lot of 206 card I am going to get them grade it is hard to trust people these days and I have a lot of topp card thank you man May God continue bless you and your family
Do you know for a fact that PSA damaged them, or are they swapping out the better cards for personal gain?
100%. Cards that have been damaged have identifiers that are distinct.
@@BGDsportscards Thank you for responding. I only asked because I have had 2 coins graded that were clearly swapped for worse condition coins. I had pictures but just got the run around. I am just wary of grading companies, they will take advantage of new and small customers.
Me to.....they are the worst graders very seldom do u get 10s , even if u inspect them with a 1200 x . I believe its cause of the fact that if u give 10s eventually you price ur self out of the market.
