Very cool. I love that these were from your personal collection all those years. You did great. PSA is tough, but that is why they command top dollar. They definitely need to step up their game on holdering the off-size stuff though. Congrats! You have some great cards for sure. Cheers!!!
Alan, that was a truly epic blind reveal! Wow! So many truly iconic vintage cards! 😊 You exercised supreme discipline to not look up the grades in advance! Congrats on finally getting your cards back, thus setting us up for more iconic videos! 😊👍
Just came across your video and subscribed. Outstanding reveal ! It is so difficult to find vintage that have decent centering but apparently you didn’t have much of a problem. Some really awesome cards with a few that go back over 80 years. Looking forward to more great videos. Thanks for sharing.
Great Cards in this return! PSA has to do better with their holders. No excuse for cards to slide around in the holders. The Satch & 55 Bowman Aaron are my 2 favorites that you showed. Congrats on your return. Stay safe.
I was collecting cards in the 80's big-time. I mowed several yards each week and spent damn near every penny at the local card shop. Unfortunately, I bought a crap-ton of over-produced MLB Baseball wax pack boxes/sets, etc., etc. I remember looking at the Basketball Wax Pack boxes (you know, the early Jordon ERA) and laughing...as collector's back then, we NEVER bought anything Basketball! I would buy some football....but concentrated on Baseball (that they produced by the triliions). Man, what the heck was I thinking!!
Yeah me too , but a Griffey Jr, Don mattingly, Mark McGuire, Barry Larkin, Bo Jackson, Frank Thomas , will Clark , Tom glavin, canseco , cal ripkin jr, in a PSA 10 can still be a good profit or a PC card in the era you used to collect in.
Great return there Al! Really ironic that Iconic Al was commenting on one of my videos, while I was watching his! haha! Crazy that some of those are in the holders weird, especially that T206! Love the Satchel and the '55B Aaron!
yep, the DiMaggio was slabbed by SGC “Authentic - Evidence of trimming” and the Jackie was slabbed by SGC “Authentic - colored” I have since sold both cards and upgraded to other examples for those players. Check out my countdown series to see those!
What a fun roller coaster ride you just guided us through! I’m sorry about the Jackie, but maybe SGC will come through in the clutch. I’m excited about those cards that got the unexpected 5 - 7 grades! Exciting stuff! And hey, 33/35 slabbed considering where you were as a collector 20+ years ago is actually quite good!
Awesome return! Lots of sweet vintage cards! Bummer about the Jackie and DiMaggio! I wish PSA could find a way to hold those smaller cards in place in the slab! That Goudey Paul Waner is beautiful! The red background really pops! Love the 55 Bowman Hank! The 53 Satch is a classic! Nice 51 Bowman Teddy! Good stuff! Just found your channel and subbed!
What's up with PSA not putting them correctly in the slabs? One of the services you're paying for is to have them secure in the holders. No excuse. I would take pictures and send them to PSA for some sort of discount.
Buying spree with new PSA cert #'s. Some of these grades I have seen lately just make me want to buy more. Buy the card 1st before the # on the sticker. Nice reveal.
Satchhhh great card! Love that these are all mid grades yes we would all love 9-10 but these all still tell a great story and represent anyone’s collection with respect. For the love of cardboard. Refractor Jones
Why are u wearing gloves? Kind of confused since the cards are in slabs, like is there a reason? U do know u can just wipe the slabs and get any fingerprints off right? Other than that, freaking awesome cards
Awesome submission! I love every single one of those cards. I'm wondering about your 1954 Jackie that was altered. The same thing happened to my 1953 Paige. I'm thinking it was probably because it was in a non-recessed screwdown holder for years, but I would like to know for sure. Is there any way to determine why PSA called it altered? Will they provide an explanation if you call them?
Thanks for watching! The Jackie WAS in a screwdown for many years, and i’m guessing thats the issue here. I’ve seen others send cards like this to SGC with no issues, so thats what I plan on doing.. 🤞
This is one of the most high quality group of cards I’ve seen. 1956 and 1960 Topps are my two favorite designs. What do you think is more important for vintage cards - centering or corners?
Great collection! Not that I can see it well on video, but I was surprised the Satchel Paige only graded a 2. Is there a crease on it somewhere? Why do you think it graded that low?
Thanks Will! The Paige has a couple creases, so I was fully expecting a 2.. PSA definitely could have upcharged me on that one - but they let it slide through at the $199 max value level
You gotta love the PSA “quality control” on the slipped T206 lol. Sorry about the Jackie and DiMaggio, that hurts, the rest of the stuff was just awesome, wow, really fun assortment of HOF’ers here. First time seeing that Sisler issue 👀👀👀
@@TalkingBallCards agree. i know this was economy a while ago and the charge was less but with them charging crazy amounts now the least they could do is spring for some molds with correct sizes. Who wants to see their slabbed cards moving around and bumping edges. Also nice collection Iconic Baseball. Lots of us love seeing these cards now while we are being bombarded with all these optic/prizm chromium cards.
@@TalkingBallCards thanks for watching! and i agree.. a little disappointing that some of the slabs aren’t properly framed. overall though, i’m pleased given the $10/card grading 😂
Sorry about the Jackie and Joe D,but should have sub with SGC to start with. Waiting a year and a half not to be graded doesn't make sense to me. But great cards!!!
Fun revival, love double X in the squat. I’m thinking the 54 Robinson was in a screw down holder and got pressed down, PSA won’t grade cards like that but SGC will as they should.
yea, definitely from being in a screwdown.. im pretty certain SGC will grade and slab this Jackie. also thinking they’d at least slab the Play Ball DiMaggio as “Authentic - Evidence of Trimming”?
I hate to be negative but a bunch of those older cards look sloppy in that loose fitting case. Considering how long you waited for these, I would never use that company again. Not crazy about the labels either. But awesome cards!
Yea.. thankfully it seems to be secure in the holder now, but PSA needs to figure out a better way to frame and slab the prewar cards. Thanks for watching, and welcome to Iconic Baseball!
I only do vintage with SGC, their values are right there with PSA, they slab it even with an A - and tell you why. I think SGC looks better and you get back faster. Even if they don't grade it, they won't charge you. I couldn't even get PSA to grade a Don Mattingly auto on a 1986 Topps, even though I stood right there as a kid as he signed it. There has been a shift in vintage to SGC, there needs to be one in modern as well.
Thanks for watching Jason! Update: I just submitted the two cards PSA didn’t slab to SGC… ‘54 Topps Jackie, ‘39 Playball DiMaggio. We’ll see what happens 🤞
With the amount of money psa makes the cards all over the place blows my mind. His first card of the collection that he collected! Not butchered but like not cool.
The Paige is a beautiful 2. There can be some true beuties in lower grades. In fact, one of my favorite grades is the PSA 3.5--I don't know what it is about that particular grade, but they are usually very strong cards
submit Jackie and Joe to SGC and you will get it back most likely next week. I had a 33 Goudey Hack Wilson PSA said was “Trimmed” SGC graded it a 4. Nice cards!!
No, that one was likely not slabbed because it was kept for 20 years in a screwdown case, thus making it “altered” in PSA’s opinion. it’s currently being graded by SGC 🤞
In the case of the PSA 1, we are talking about a prewar card that is over 110 years old.. maybe you need to look into what a T206 Fred Clarke in a PSA 1 sells for for vs. ungraded 😉 Thanks for watching sir!
I understand that you only paid $10 per card, but I'm very disappointed in PSA for the substandard slabbing they did on your cards. You should have taken pictures of them in the condition they came in. They could have came up with some kind of matting for the odd shape and smaller cards. Not a very professional slabbing on PSA part. Those are some very nice cards and PSA should have done a better job taken care of them.
PSA didn’t butcher that T206 card that’s coming out of its place in the holder. That happened to me one time & it happened bc of the shipping process, PSA should fix it for u
It’s a shame that PSA can’t get the cards in the holders properly. They are supposed to be professionals !?! Very poor quality control. Thanks for showing this 👍

PSA was back logged a couple years ago - not anymore. These days, I think turnaround time is only a few months.
