Buying Vintage at the Philly Sports Card Show - March Edition!

- My third time going to the Philly Sports Card Show was the most fun I've had at a card show since The National! I went with @mookiechillson and his friend Pete. The Philly Card Show is never a letdown with the vintage! I'd say that the ratio is about even between modern and vintage. They do a great job at giving you an experience that really matches the atmosphere of The National!
My pickups today were mostly inventory replenishment for tomorrow's show in Mount Kisco, NY. However, I did come away with one small PC pickup and one big PC pickup. This video was definitely exciting to put together and I hope y'all enjoy it!
It was great to meet some dealers that are fans of my channel as well as some collectors who have participated in a lot of my livestreams and videos! Thank y'all for continuing to support the channel and engaging with not only myself, but the community as well!

Thanks for the compliments on my collection - I’m very flattered! That was such a cool show and so lively and interesting. Was great hanging out with you - Mookie and I agreed that was a blast. There were great cards all over the place… the Seaver rookie SGC 10 and Ashish’s new PSA 2.5 52 Mantle were particularly impressive (to me at least). Didn’t find a 54 Bowman Mantle that was calling my name today but I had fun just drooling over the ridiculous amount of awesome stuff there. Great show.
Thanks Pete! It was awesome! Sorry you couldn't find your Bowman Mantle. Thankfully, the opportunities are always there given that it's a popular card!
Cool Phillie show!! Thank you for sharing!!
Thank you!
Oh my goodness!!!! sweet stuff. love some shows. great cards. thumbs up
Thanks Jay! 😎👍🏻
Another great video Sammy. It was great meeting you in Philly - I would recognize your voice anywhere lol. I agree, Philly is one of my favorite shows, always lots of vintage to find there - hope to see you again at a show and chat - thanks again - Mike from CT
Thanks Mike! Great running into you too! The vintage is endless and with such great variety
Hi Sammy,
Thank you so much for your video of the Philly show. Just an incredible amount of vintage cards! I saw so many things that I had never seen before. You really film very well and clearly. Thanks for that as well!
Have a great Sunday,
Peter
It's a front runner for one of the better shows to attend other than The National. They run these shows three or four times a year and it never disappoints!
Hi Sammy. Great footage and I wish I was there. Saw so many things that I would have been interested in. I love that 54 NY Journal - American, and you picked up a beauty for the price, awesome pal. I've had my radar on the Robinson one for a while. I was at a small show today where I did pick up a 68 and a 69 Hank Aaron's, both mid grade. Plus, a 62 Mantle (Switch hitter connects) card. Also mid grade. I'll be showing them in my next video. Thanks for the footage pal, love that Philly show, talk soon my friend.
Thanks Stephen. Glad that you were able to get some card show in! It sounds like you had a solid day as well with your pickups!
Great footage of the looks like a quality show I would love to attend. Great pick-ups Sammy
Thanks man!
Great video of the show Sammy and glad you had some laughs with friends, but to me it’s always better going alone to set your own pace and how your going to walk the show there’s nothing better then that from my experience in the past when with friends. You take great content & love all the vintage cards thanks NY LOU
I see what you're saying Lou. I was kind of glad to take a little break from having to run around at a pace that I'm generally used to. It actually turned out to be more beneficial because Mookie and Pete were able to tell me about cards that I overlooked, like the Clemente Transogram.
Cool recap! Sounds like you had great day and your pickups were awesome! Love the Mays NY Journal. I didn’t end up running into you guys but maybe next time. Was there until about 2pm Saturday and it was pretty busy for sure!
Thanks Reese. We left at around 3PM. Will you be going to Strongsville or The National?
@@SammyThunderunfortunately I’m not. 😞 I definitely need to make it to The National some day!
Always more fun with friends. I'm looking forward to meeting Mookie this summer. And hanging out with you again of course, but I've already met you, Sammy. You're old news. 😉 Congrats on scoring that NY Journal Mays. Very cool.
Old News?!?! What am I, Chopped Liver?
@@SammyThunder 😂 😘 you know I luv ya, Sammy!
I think you did an awesome job capturing footage! Lots of really cool oddball stuff. This footage really has me pumped for his year’s National! My wallet is not as excited. Haha Great pickups! That Mays is awesome
Thanks man! I'm looking forward to Strongsville and The National!
Love that 59 Frank Robinson! One of my favorite “eye appeal” cards
It's a classic!
Enjoyed the show footage Sammy! Nice Willie Mays pickup.
Thanks Stuke!
Great stuff Sammy! You got an awesome deal on the Robinson and Kaline 59’s.
Thanks Jason. The dealer who sold me those cards is awesome! He's a viewer of the channel and had some great stuff! I probably should've dove in a bit more, but I didn't want to hold Mookie up lol.
This was great, Sammy. Felt like I was at the show. Congrats on that Mays pickup!
Best feedback I could get. That is definitely something I try to bring out in my videos.
Awesome video Sammy!! Always enjoy the incredible footage of the shows!! So many amazing cards at these card shows!! Great pickups on your end!! Keep up the great content!!
Thank you so much! I thought it would come out a bit sloppy, but people seem to be pleased! Including yourself!
Wow! More vintage on one table than the last two shows I went to total! Just awesome!!
Lol. For real, right?
If you told me this was the National footage, I would totally believe you. This is an awesome show with an amazing amount of vintage and especially odd ball. I look forward to seeing you at the Strongsville show.
I thought the same thing lol. I thought of you during the show. I'm sorry I couldn't track more coins. I couldn't dedicate a lot of time on recording because I was with a group. I had to go at a group pace.
Great Milton Bradley card. Hou Willie Mays card
Thanks Lee! The Seaver MB card was one I have been looking for. They don't go for a lot, so for $5, I thought it was a nice deal.
that Willie Mays card at the end is SICK
Thanks Jake! It’s a unique set!
Thx for showing some prices! Great video I’m a PC collector so this was awesome
Man, super glad to be of help my friend!
I think I would have lost my mind with the constant PA announcements 😂
That dealer covering up the PSA labels was wild, I’d never seen that previously.
Lol. Griff, try standing next to it at times. I missed that part with the PSA labels. Did I record it and not realize it?
@@SammyThunder yeah one of dealers had his pricing labels on the graded card sleeves right on top of the PSA label.
I'll have to rewatch. There were times where I was recording and looking at something else at the same time, if that makes any sense.
The '59 Topps Frank Robinson is my favorite of his cards. I have one too. Great show/video. You always make them enjoyable.
Thanks Andrew! It's an enjoyable experience. Mookie and Pete are awesome companions to go to a show with. Especially because I witness Mookie and Pete jokingly jabbing each other.
Prices are crazy no deals here omg
The background has improved considerably since the last video I watched!!! Just wow!!!! The FLEXING IS REAL
You're not kidding lol. It's crazy how much flexing happened!
Nice pick ups, Sammy. Congratulations on the big find.
Thank you sir! I was on the fence initially, but my instincts said, "DO IT!"
@@SammyThunder, glad you listened to your instincts. Otherwise we wouldn’t have seen it.
Yes sir. 😎😎
Very enjoyable video. Great work.
Much appreciated friend!
I wish there was a big card show like this here in Indy. We have the Midwest Monster in June but this show looks far bigger
When I check in sometimes with Ballpark Memories, I see what shows he's going to. He's from Indiana and it seems like there are shows going on. Maybe it depends on the location in Indiana?
Super fun recap Sammy! Surprised I didn't run into you - was at the show all day Friday and Saturday. Great stuff!
Thanks Mike. I was keeping my eyes open for fellow content creators like yourself. Ran into a few, but unfortunately our paths did not cross. Are you going to Strongsville next month?
@@SammyThunder I'd really like to but not sure I'm going to make it.
National?@@mikeorz111
Absolutely!!!@@SammyThunder
Great footage, Sammy! Looks like it was a great show for vintage.
Great range of vintage! So many different style of dealers. You'd enjoy it!
Awesome show Sammy, congrats on the pickups.
Thanks Orlando!
Great video I was looking forward to this and it didn’t disappoint! Thanks for the footage Sammy
Yeah man! Glad you watched it and it met with your approval friend!
Wow so much!!👍😎💯
Too much!
Ha! I am trying to find out how much Henry wants for the 33 Ruth that doesn’t have a sticker on it. Saw it in one of his posts yesterday and then saw it in your video 😂
Hilarous! You got a second take with my video! Hope you buy it!
Good to see you again today. Hopefully you found what you were looking for.
Glad we bumped into one another! Did you wind up buying anything?
Great pickups - looked like a great show. Lots of 😳 cards
Thanks Craig. Lots of wow factors, but the Mays is the show stopper. It's too bad I won't be able to fit it in my display case. Modifications are in order!
@@SammyThunder I've watched about 3 videos today on the Philly show - I google mapped it - about 5 hours - straight turnpike drive.
The next show is in September - I might have to make a trip 🤔 to Philly
It's worth it!
Hey do you happen to know who that first table is on your left when you walk into the show?? They had a card I want to reach out to them for. In your thumbnail is the guy in the green shirt
I’ll be interested in the transogram homie…hit me up and that Mays especially in the grade is very nice🤙🏽
Hey Lou. Theo reached out to me first this morning, so if he changes his mind, I'll reach out.
@23:42 Why is a 1984 Fleer Update Set priced at $795.00 ?
I have to rewatch that. I don’t know.
