I just watched this video today and it sucks to hear that you came to Burbank. I would’ve came to meet you and your friend. I hope you had a good time while you were here and maybe we’ll meet another time
Good on you for giving the entire research department the week off. I'm pretty sure I ran into them at a bar in Atlantic City at 4am on Monday morning.
That Mantle PSA 3 for $105k is wild. Meanwhile, the last PSA 5 sold for just $87k. The power of eye appeal for sure. Also another good example of buying the card, not the grade.
Crazy that 86 Jordan even got a 10, considering lightly tipped corners, rough edges, and how harsh PSA has gotten on that card with 10s. Must’ve been a super-spend-customer. 😊
So, I bought one of these cards. Interesting story in it. An Ebay seller "admetstigers" had a Bryce Harper superfractor I was very, very interested in. Asked him for an area he'd be comfortable. Would not give me one. Told him the amount of money I had as our daughter just got a full ride to my alma mater. Was arrogant and would not give me a price. So, over $50,000 spent on a card I liked even more and I hope that guy is a huge Harper fan as when I showed my shop in Philly the convo, they nearly died.
Enzo is infact the founder of Ferrari. He started his career with Alfa Romeo running their race division. He famously used purple ink in his pen. He is the one that spurned Henry Ford II that made Ford create the GT40. (Watch Ford vs. Ferrari).
The Jordan had white tipped corners and chipping on the right side. For every example of cards selling according to their eye appeal (Mantle in the PSA 3), there is an example of a card where at least two buyers don’t properly evaluate what they are buying.
To many people are fooled by the grading companies and don’t know their unscrupulous past. An example is PSA declaration of grading cards much more strictly. Does that mean for the 20+ years before the cards are graded incorrectly? I’d guess so….just look at that Mantle card…a “3”? If whoever submitted it was a PSA “insider” it would get a 6 or 7…probably will come back as such!
Fun fact, Tom Brady was actually on the checklist for 2014 Topps Five Star. It would have been his 1st baseball card, but he was a redemption, and they were never fulfilled
It scares me that dumb people are throwing money at garbage like that, when too much of that happens and inevitably crashes it will pull down everything to a degree.
Why? She's an incredible player with a huge following, and a Superfractor 1/1 Auto that's graded a PSA 10/10 is highly unusual. Looks like an awesome card to me, and she's only going to get more attention and fans heading into the NCAA Tournament and then eventually the WNBA.
I don't understand why people are buying him up like his accomplishments are up there with Brady. He's on a complete team that can't win the superbowl, big deal
I don't know if, Zion, is a bust, but he's just not fully lived up to the hype and the expectations. When he was first drafted, it sounded like he would be a top 10 player in the NBA, and there's probably 25, ahead of him. Paying those prices for his cards is, absolutely nuts. Then again, they at one point were at 6 figures, when he really didn't do much. Win an MVP. Or Championship. Yeah. Nearly 20K for Penny Hardaway. I guess if its a super collector. Even then, seems a bit of a reach. Penny was a really good player and was, a popular player but, unfortunately hurt a lot. Don't really understand the price on that one. But, to each their own.
@@ROMEYYOUROCK scrap a leaf auto of a 50$ card and slap it on something (fwiw, I did this because I wanted something and don't like paying top dollar and I got a 4 on the auto.. lol- I don't care, I was never paying 1k otherwise)
With all these big auction house company's placing eye appeal stickers on slabs👎 how about we get real authenticated stickers from our beloved RUclipsr "Baseball card collector Invester" we can have great quotes like Ran over by truck division, 1980's let's get wild, I'm jealous division. I'm sure there are many more memorable funny quotes 😂 If I have to start my own kick starter to get these stickers placed on my slabs I'm all in. 😎👍💯
I miss the talks and games you play with The Texas Snowman. You got to have him on again soon! As much as I dislike the grading companies, now we have to put up with other entities (Like PWCC and “NBA”) putting sticker on the front. Soon you won’t be able to see the player due to all the stickers these idiots add to the cards!!
MBA not NBA lol. It's Mike baker authentication. He was the first full time grader at psa. He left and formed his own company, no grading just authenticating
@@richardbianco9674 You’re still missing the pun. It does not matter how long they have been around, it’s that, just like grading, they can be misused to inflate prices. Are you really going to believe a PWCC sticker after Ebay verified, then threw them off their site for schill bidding?
Someone from the ultra-modern department was assigned to grade that Mantle. They saw the slightly tipped corners and gave it a PSA3.

I dunno about you guys, but I prefer when my sales are featured on High Rollers more than when they are featured on Regular Rollers.
i much prefer when my purchases are featured on high rollers, more than when they are featured on regular rollers, lol
@@forpetesake20As long as you were not the purchaser on high rollers….some of the newer card prices are so ridiculous

the grade should be slightly higher I think, but those corners hurt the card
1999 UD Griffey jersey/auto isn't his first jersey/auto card; there were 24 auto'd versions of his 1998 UD Piece of the Action Game Jersey card

Love the Enzo Ferrari card , yes he is the founder.
That Mick doesn’t look like a 3 at all!

That 53 Mantle needs to be regraded

I’m sorry but $38,000 for a Brock Purdy card. 🤯🤯🤯 Is that thing supposed to appreciate from there? Will be watching…
Fun fact, Tom Brady was actually on the checklist for 2014 Topps Five Star. It would have been his 1st baseball card, but he was a redemption, and they were never fulfilled
Looks like that Gretzky 99/99 is only a 2 color patch. The white rounded part is part of the card design
Whoever spent 78k on that Caitlin Clark must be the dumbest person alive...
If they got 78k to throw around they are probably smart enough to have 78k to throw around.

Ty and Cy two of the greatest ever.
As always, nicely, done.
Good luck at the card show...I predict you'll do well
I got a Super Rave MJ /50, but it’s from a 2022 Metal set.
Thanks again, Chris!
So many issues at first glance on the PSA 10 Jordan :( rounded corner, hanger, side chipping to name a few and it's in a new slab.
Wow I remember the few Zion RPA that sold for $80k +
I don’t get how anyone can spend 38k on a Brock Purdy card
If he won the SB prob an easy flip
@@DRealPk3 that’s true, but they could have just bet 38k on SF in the Super Bowl
Agreed! That's just crazy money for a still unproven QB. You can get MANY low Pop. Brady RC autos for less than that.
I don't understand why people are buying him up like his accomplishments are up there with Brady. He's on a complete team that can't win the superbowl, big deal
Probably woulda been a better payout too. Though this isn't going to be a complete loss. @@GiantsAlliance

Just think how much the guy made on that Jordan Z force card .
How many different grades can autographs get? I believe I've only ever seen 9s and 10s.

Some great sales
Love that #7 if only i was rich!
The Jordan is 010/050 not 01/50 lol hard to see.
Oh good catch on that... you are right.
Any sale from PWCC is questionable.
I prefer low rollers over regular rollers
That Soto sale seems disgustingly low……
