    I have the Ruth and Cobb strip cards, as well as 7 others of the strip; Walter Johnson, Tris Speaker, George Sisler, Casey Stengel, Home run Baker, and 2 commons. They were glued in a scrapbook I bought and it was a delicate operation getting them out intact as they are very thin. I sent them to SCG and they got "authentic" because of the glue on the backs. Still really nice cards. It was originally a 10 card strip.

    How about an “unopened case” of 79-80 OPeeChee Hockey? Found in an old house in Saskatchewan. Heritage Auction still ongoing until Feb, and the bid is over a Mill. I believe right now. Keep an eye on that one.

    When cards are graded, is there any consideration given to the age of the card? It seems unfair to grade a 60-70 year old card against a modern card using the same standards.

    “Bob” Clemente was given that nickname by the local press and the Pirate announcers. Roberto asked them not to call him “Bob”, but they ignored him and called him “Bob” and “Bobby”. He said that was not his name, that he wanted to be referred to by the name his mother and father gave him.
    The local papers would make fun of his accent-“I heet the ball and she go far.”

    From what I’ve seen on the numbered cards the “Bookends” so if it’s 25 cards number 1 & #25 and the jersey number usually carries the most value at least that’s what I’ve seen! And just wondering if you watch IF Sports Cards Top 10 pulls of the week on Mondays? If so what do you think about the Kaboom CJ Stroud cards selling so high? All these guys that haven’t done really anything in the sport and people are throwing money at their cards! Just wanted to see what you thought! Which I have a good idea! 😂

    There is a guy on EBAY that is such a high roller, he won't even give you a price for his card. LOL. We had saved $330,000 for our daughter to go to school, and she gets a free ride. Spent $60K on a place in Indian River Inlet, $25K on a Jordan PSA9 and wanted to know what this guy wanted for a Harper card. He was too much of a HIGH ROLLER to even give me a price. And I'm sitting here with $240,000 in disposable income. Was a '48 Leaf Jack Robinson on display (not for sale) at the Philly show. Guess I'll get that and save the rest. Guy on the internet was Peter Pan.

    You're not wrong about the Brady. It would get a PSA 7 AT BEST. Corners are 8? What a joke. I've never liked Beckett grading. They are terrible.

    However you pronounced Nap Lajoie’s last name is so bad lol. He’s of French descent, obviously it’s pronounce “la-j’wah”
    Americans not having any idea how to pronounce foreign names is ridiculous when you’re supposed to be an expert in the field. And yes, I’m aware Ken Burns said it like you did.. but it’s wrong, unequivocally.

    • @rlsfrny
      @rlsfrny 5 месяцев назад +3

      Nap did not pronounce his name "la-jwah". He either pronounced it "la-joy" or "la-jo-ee". Nobody is quite certain, but one thing is sure, he never pronounced it the French way. Furthermore, he was not of French descent. His father was a Quebecker, i.e. French Canadian. And if you want some friendly advice, don't ever call a Quebecker French.
