I'm seeing A LOT MORE high end iconic cards/vintage cards in SGC holders. That's a VERY GOOD thing for the hobby as a whole!
SGC is the best grading company by far.
They are the most forgiving. Their 10s are PSA 8s
@@TheMuvbufyou mean the most consistent and fair. PSA consistency is trash and continue to dupe the entire card community with high prices, awful turnaround times, and subpar customer service.
@@TheMuvbufyea the vintage baseball collectors are SGC super fans because they grade alot easier than PSA. Big prime example is that Babe Ruth SGC 3 rookie that just sold which wouldn't be more than a 1 or 1.5 as a PSA 🙄
I found a tub full of 1970s topps yesterday for $30 at a little thrift shop and pulled 2 1975 Topps George Brett rookies in fantastic condition!! Im so excited. Getting them both graded asap!
Nice!
These iconic older cards are proof that they’ll always maintain and increase in value.
Much like stock.
Well they've already crashed pretty hard over the last couple of years, so maybe not always? If we've learned anything since COVID it's that no card or group of cards are immune from bubbles (much like stocks)
My favorite set 1959 topps
That Ruth is very uncommonly sharp.
Good stuff! Glad to not see Lebron James in there.....
Im always in awe of those that can build vintage high grade (heck, even low or mid grade) sets. Lots of time, money and patience. It's very admirable.
Hey Chris, I remember on one of your videos a few months ago that someone had shared a distinct way to tell when a card is a Tiffany. I can't remember what it was. Can you remind me?
Glossy front and much brighter card stock on the back.
Here is the video I did on the Tiffanys: ruclips.net/video/iUUv5W5L23s/видео.html
Thanks!!
“The back looks like…..a back?” Classic!
Hi Chris - seems you're an O's fan and one image you often use in your videos looks to be of you working in a card shop many moons ago. Are you from MD? Curious to know what store that may have been - in the 1990s I frequented stores all through Montgomery, PG and other areas here - places like House of Cards, etc. Wondering if I ever entered yours.
Yes! I used to work at Hall of Fame cards in Rockville from 1996-1999.
@@collectorinvestordealer That's one I actually don't recall - where was it?
It was across Rockville pike from White Flint Mall
@@collectorinvestordealer OK - I do think I know that one. There was a guy I recall working there - dark hair - who I know I also used to see at a lot of local shows. Bought a lot of vintage from him (I think 71 high numbers) at one point.
I have the 1997 metal universe Michael Jordan card. Please give me info on how to get on the auction. Thank you.
Wow, some impressive sales of fantastic cards. Your research department should get a raise. Great job as always, Chris.
I dont understand how those gems go for that 'cheap' but these new cards, ppl pay over $100,000 for players these days and a few are busts.
Chris, I think the latest auction on this video are my stepdads stolen cards. Do u know the seller?!
Oh wow, sorry to hear that. I do not know the seller. I would contact Robert Edwards Auctions.
The mantle Bowman would grade a PSA 6 today
Mel Ott is the guy about whom Leo Durocher famously said "Nice guys finish last." Maybe the day the image was made, he struck out four times.
The stickers denoting the card as a top 5 or 10 percent in eye appeal for the grade are ridiculous. They haven’t seen ALL the cards, therefore it should hold no weight. The only way that could be quasi accurate would be for example if they had every single Mantle 52 Topps PSA 8 in a room and then judged them each accordingly.
There is another Payton RC: a 1975 regional food issue, a disk with any of a number of restaurant/ice cream parlor names on the back. Still available as a PSA 10 for a surprisingly low $100.
The only way to cure mustache envy is to grow one yourself, King Sewall.
Mel Orr did look a bit to serious in that photo.
Anybody notice the same guy buying up all Steve Evans T206 cards for massive prices? He spent over 100k in around 10 days just on Evans t206 cards.
Hi Chris
I Sent you a messenger message on November 12th with pictures concerning two 1999 Topps Baseball sets I own. Please let me your thoughts on my question about missing information (player's names, etc). Thanks Michael Fredrick
I don't remember that email... can you resend it?
Wonder what total pop on that Thomas nnof. I figured at least 50k for a 9. Less than 20k for 8 sounds like a deal
If you ever get a chance to interview a set collector, please do. How you get 500, 600, 700+ minty cards all PSA graded--from the 40's or 50's--it must be quite a journey. Labor of love? Gotta be a good story behind it anyway.
Awesome video Chris!
Any idea why 9/10 spots were all baseball?
I think its mainly just because REA specializes in vintage baseball
52 Mantle has a slant cut as well
Good catch!
Will have to finish this later...a little thing called work. Enjoy all your shows.
I enjoy your channel. There is zippy chance that the Ryan refractor is “gem mint”. The card has ghosting and a smidge of green. It’s confusing how that condition is often treated as if it doesn’t exist.
Good catch on the greening. Its possible it was graded before the greening started?
Perhaps it was graded after the green/ghost happened. However, I have seen several 1990’s chrome psa 10’s that have green/ghost, but they have very new ID’s. Somehow this condition has been perceived as “normal”. The thing is, not (all) of them have this condition.
Pardon me, perhaps it was graded before the greening.
Crazy that the mantle sale was so low given the above-average eye appeal for the grade...
Thanks for the great recap. There were some very cool cards in this one for sure.
Lucky 68th.... I nail it every time.
❤❤❤❤
Amazing cards
❤Great Video Brother
Is the guy that bought the Ruth card the same guy who bought Bonds's 756 Home run ball? That is an ugly card, IMO. ikes.
Tom Seaver *AND Bill Denehy 😉
Imagine if you did get that time machine. Card prices would drop! 😂
Mel Ott saw some $hit!
Boo Vintage! lol jk
Thanks boss.
That Shoeless Joe is a very unique example I've never seen b4..😍😮 Love it.. Take care and Happy Holidays Chris..😊👍💕🔥👊
