Those Ty Cobb and Joe Jackson cards are the nicest looking cards I’ve ever seen and I didn’t know they existed. What a great looking set. Thanks for the videos as always
I love that the 1914 Cobb and Jackson cards have their yearly batting and fielding average stats on the back! It also includes a checklist of the other players available in the set.
I like the "endangered species list" reference for cards you don't see in the wild. I haven't heard that clever line before. I guess this is the same Heritage Auction that had issues related to the Boston Garter cards that Mike (Junk Wax Hero) did a story on last week.
Gr8 High Rollers Chris..🎉 This one's loaded with amazing vintage set's..😍😮 Love the 71topps is my favorite also the Boston Garter Cobb and Shoeless Joe Jackson..😊 Take care all..👍💕🔥👊
I've collected different items over time and it's all a matter of who or what's hot at the time. Seen some go up, down and back up again. Same thing happens with so many other things that people like to collect. You do it because it interests you. Not because someone tells you to or not to... It's for your happiness! If you get tired of it. Just find something else that interest you. Key is for you to determine what works for you 😊
As a 40+ years of hobby experience who has never felt the need to send a card to get graded… Do or have any grading companies ever offered a $ discount deal on grading a complete vintage set? I have a dozen or so sharp vintage sets from the 50’s and 60’s that would be fun to have on a registry… But not for the $ PSA would charge on a piecemeal basis!
They dont officially offer that but I imagine if you called PSA and explained your situation, they might be able to work with you. Although I don't know that for sure.
Another fun video to watch. Great to see the Boston Garter cards. After watching you and Mike Junk Wax Heroes and your trivial discussions, is the 1969 Mantle a playing days Mantle?
I literally just traded a devonta smith auto for that 1968 trio of mantle, mays and killebrew…….it was a nice one too. Gotta love trading vintage with kids.
@@ACD1994 his dad was there and let him do it too! If my sons tried that I’d take him 15 feet away from the deal and explain “why you NEVER trade vintage for ultra modern (unless it’s Mahomes or something special)
Every one of the cards on both the countdown and the honorable mentions is extraordinary - with the exception of the Ed Charles. That one makes no sense to me no matter how exceptionally sharp it is. It's a $5 card in that condition raw.
Pretty interesting that both 1968 Mantle cards in this video were recent grades of PSA 10. Both had serial #'s in the 78,000,000 range. Could have been re-holders I suppose. As picky and strict as PSA has been lately they must have been submitted by Nat Turner. "wink, wink"
1969 Topps Ed Charles in raw mid-grade is not a 50¢ card. I know this because when I was building the set recently, I couldn’t find a decent one for less than $8-$15. Finally I got lucky and scored a solid EX-MT example for $1.50. I was trying to figure out why there was such a premium on a low series common. While I couldn’t find a definitive answer, I chalked it up to either it was somehow shorter-printed or that it’s a championship year Mets guy. Even so, more notable ‘69 Mets commons like Jerry Grote in high-end raw go for like $3, so the latter explanation didn’t make much sense. I’d love to know why mid-grade or better raw ‘69 Ed Charles cards are generally going for the same amount as a ‘69 lower tier HOF. It’s in the first or second series. The short print explanation also doesn’t hold much water, unless this card was an anomaly for some reason.
GAI?!? I mean....I guess Michael Jordan high end, or high grade really does just sell for high prices, in even the non (PSA, BGS, SGC, ETC) big name grading companies...wow!
Honestly dont even care about high rollers. What kind of people are spending 10s and 100s of thousnds of dollars on cards? Regular rollers is the greatest show ever created. Should do 3 regular rolles to every 1 episode of this excess.

Hey Chris 👋 I graded the SGC cards up to the 2nd Roberto !

Crazy to think there are better conditioned sets than the ones sold.
Always amazed at vintage cards in such good condition!
Ok...Wow that 1973 set!!! - that one impressed me the most, those are centering nightmares!
@13:37 Amazing. Never seen this Shoeless Joe Jackson one before.
I'd like to see contemporary garter manufacturers get back into the hobby.
Wow great stuff. Have a great day.

I believe so.

I have to believe there’s some counterfeiting happening to make more of those 7.5 Ruths!
Sheesh.
Boomers retire, liquidate high value cards to live well.

Wow that 1975 set!!!!!
Wow that 1979 set!!!
The Caramel Babe Ruth looked almost perfect! Wow!!

I consider the 69 Mantle a playing-days Mantle as he played in 1968
Chris. Have you ever been a high roller on any highly priced items up for bid?
I have about 30 Dick Butkus cards, should I get them graded ? Thanks jim80
Depending on the condition I would, the earlier the better so I would grade the cards
Depends completely on condition

Nice to see some different cards rather than the usual suspects

On October 2nd, an Ed Charles, in PSA 6 sold for $42 dollars
68 clemente off centerr.

Must have been very difficult to let them complete sets go after years of putting them together…
perhaps an elderly person or an heir for whom the time to liquidate had sadly arrived...
@@rlsfrny Could be, that makes more sense.
@@rlsfrny If that's true, it does help their grand kids. The sets sold in the six figures.
Ask your Grandaddy 🤘
I’m stealing that line 😂
Imagine buying a pop 1 for 20k, when you could get a very nice Zion card for a similar price🤣
A very, well-rounded top 10! All that vintage is beautiful 🤩 but that Exquisite RPA is a grail piece for me. Thanks for sharing, Chris! 🍻
Man, #1 was trash. We gotta spend money on better stuff people
Dont believe me, ask your grandaddy 🔥
😂
Unless you speak Spanish, I think Bob will do just fine.
First again maybe. My favorite High Rollers!
We have a winner!
