@@Im.Smaher maybe because it’s a global panic? Mental health issues due to being inside and in some cases alone all the time? Losing family members? Losing contact with friends? Once again, not exactly the ideal headspace for someone who wants to make content. And if you use the argument “well other people are making content”- not everybody is the same. Tyler took a long and well deserved break. If you follow her other socials (which you should) you would see that she has a great video in the works that’s almost done, has streamed consistently and weekly since the pandemic started, and she’s given constant updates throughout. So don’t come at her demanding content, you aren’t entitled to anything haha. Tyler is one of the most hardworking content creators I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching. Being patient will make the new vids that come out all the more exciting and entertaining. Simple really 💜💜

I jumped into this serious with KH2, not having a damn clue what was going on, and YEARS later I've managed to jump head first into all the lore, have watched the cutscenes to every game, bothered my best friend (who's a huge KH fan) with questions and theories, and even tried to get down with Union X and Dark Road (Square for the love of God just make it a console game😭). Kingdom Hearts, I've realized, is just really fun to have in my life. The mystery and cheese of it all is glorious. It's also taught me a lot about myself, which I didn't know a Disney-Anime love child could do. Truly, this game and Nomura are a gift we didn't deserve

My favorite part about Kingdom Hearts “Spoiler” discussion videos is that I can listen to someone like Buns go on and on about every single spoiler bit complete with footage and I’ll STILL be surprised and confused by those same moments when I actually play the game myself.

Listening to Buns talk about Kingdom Hearts kinda makes me love her even more. The passion is so clear in her voice when she talks about this series and how much she loves it. Even when she's frustrated and annoyed, she still cares. I love that she makes content about things that matter to her. You know what? I think I just love her.

I have to say, my favorite part about Kingdom Hearts is seeing just how much Sora has grown through gameplay alone. He went from swinging his Keyblade around like an exceptionally heavy cardboard tube in the first game, to pulling off aerial maneuvers that would make Spider-Man blush in the second, to... Well, he hardly even has to *touch* the ground in the third game, does he.
Kinda a shame they got rid of _customizable_ duel wielding mechanics in the third game though, not gonna lie. But I guess there's a story reason for it... somewhere...

been a few months since I've seen any new Buttery goodness hit my recommended watch list so I wanted to make sure you're not dead or something.
I can’t help but feel like Nomura is just the video game version of Steven Moffat. When forced to tell a small, singular story does the job really well but when given too much time and and freedom makes garbled messes. But at least Nomura doesn’t hate his fans

Kingdom Hearts by now feels like a DnD-Campaign the DM though of that one time and just rolled with it. Then it turned out his players were so invested that he had to make up a big chunk after the fact because he couldn't just tell them there is nothing else. After a while he then took it really seriously to work on his world, had to retcon some shit, took some misssteps and now everyone is just so deep in that it's scary.
KH as a DnD campaign works way too well. Especially as Square (and nearly all the major JRPG franchises) are not particularly known for each campaign being interconnected.

It's more the fact we're too deep into the lore to ever come back and yet at the same time we're willing to roll with the inevitable retcons for the most part. It's a paradox.

He's special in the way that he represents the terrible mystery box method Nomura likes to use in storytelling: pose a question and keep pestering people that it exists and you should care, but not providing any REAL substantial clues to really get people thinking on how the mystery can be solved. Yozora is not really a character but more like a sentient mouthpiece where Nomura can just spew nonsense and pretend that he's smarter than he actually is.
Yozora has the single most clever character setup in the series since it started. First we're meant to think he's some kind of "opening scene to Toy Story 2" level in-joke in (fittingly enough) the Toy Story world, only with a Square Enix-y flavor. Then we get to the secret ending and it's like, "nope, he's a thing and you will wonder everything about him". And then we face him as the superboss, only instead of Sora facing off with the stock "who is this mysterious man of mysteries who we don't see because the developers didn't come up with a proper design and model for him yet" boss, he goes "Hey, I know you! I have so many questions, like why, and how, and what?" It's just...such a huge breath of fresh air I'm glad I got.

Every morning I look out of the window, rain pouring down the glass. My hope mimics the very drops of water that glide down, aiming to an abyss I cannot see.

Yeah, I don't like that either. It's part of the reason I couldn't get into the Fate/ series cause a lot of lore is locked behind it's gacha game called Fate/Grand Order.
In the case of Kingdom Hearts, I've been hooked on the series when it started, not long after it was a thing like the Fate/ series
I think they're smart enough to release another summary movie for it, or even a console remake. Just so the casual fans aren't so confused.
@@DarkFrozenDepths That's where you are wrong. Fate/GO is just a giant spin off. It has its own story, but is detached from the story of the other games/VN/Anime. Actually most of them are its own story. The only ones who are a continuation from each other are Zero and Stay Night (Zero is a prequel). As for lore-wise. There is nothing new to the lore in there. It has its story, yes. But not much of a world building having.

KH is that roller coaster where once you get on, you’re never getting off; not because you don’t want to but because the person controlling the ride (in this case, Nomura) won’t stop the ride long enough for you to grab your bearings and hop off before starting it back up again.
Also, I have to say it, Mickey was explicitly told NOT to go after Aqua or tell anyone about her by Master Yensid for fear of being too under prepared and failing to bring her back. We see Mickey and Riku’s first trip into the Dark Realm didn’t end well and the second trip had them find Aqua, only for the two heroes to be overpowered by her Anti-self. Clearly, Yensid made the right move not sending a partnerless Mickey or a less experienced Sora/Riku (w/ or w/o Mickey) to save Aqua. That’s just my perspective. Yes, it seems cruel to leave her there for 11 years, but strategically you have better odds the stronger and more numerous your heroes are.

Can we talk about the bamboozling Nomura did to everyone with the nameless star and how it was a red herring? Because I don't think that's appreciated enough just how well that was pulled off. Like, holy shit, the way the dialogue around her fits Streletzia and how she talks about someone that sounds like Marluxia... but no one realized at the time that Sora not actually bringing it up to the guy later on wasn't a plothole, it was a hint that it wasn't her. and in turn, all that stuff the nameless star said? It gives a LOT of hints towards the next arc and Yozora's involvement. I mock how absurd his plots get sometimes, but when he does something that works it REALLY works.

Honestly that probably won't ever happen, Kingdom Hearts can go on forever if Disney stays onboard and the series has a fetish for mystery box storylines (even if they mostly feel like they were made by the people that wrote for Lost), even when/if Sora's story is wrapped up they've got dozens of threads to follow that can keep the IP going.
Though if it's any consolation at least you know the answer to basically every mystery from the series aside from what KH3 and Union X are setting up, you'll always have _some_ vague conversation or enigmatic hooded figure to ponder about but there's no question marks remaining for the older entries.

I've been with this series since the beginning. I've always loved it. The mysteries each entry gives. Slowly explaining the story. Even when being made fun of for loving this series I never let it get me down. This series is my childhood. I even had dreams about it, even used to RP as my OC. While 3 may now be my favorite I was satisfied. And I can't wait for more.

That's what really frustrates me about Nomura. He has learned the Art of balancing "playing 5D chest" and "making things up as I go". It's a huge klusterfuk of a series and we all ended up loving it anyway.
I wont even deny I'm on the "I don't like Nomura" side, because he gets WAY to much praise for just baiting the ever loving shit out of the fandom of his games.
We have a game that is 18 years old that does nothing but keep people gripped because we are invested in the game, and he keeps adding in teasers to this game.

Eh I think he just had an escalation problem like alot of anime writers have. I mean alot of people see kingdom hearts 3 and think they only need to play 1 and 2 with it but to get the whole story you need to play those other games. Its like skipping season 2, 4-8 of a show and going to the final season and not getting the emotional impact of anything that is going on and blaming the show.

@@AlexanderMartinez-kd7cz I disliked the attraction system because I never really felt like I earned it. Also floaty combat goes without saying. And I would have removed the frozen level because unlike the others they didn't tie into the mainstory.
Tip: don’t put a thin red line at the bottom of a thumbnail I honestly almost skipped this video thinking I had watched it... if it wasn’t at the TOP of my sub box I would have missed a SuperButterBuns video and I don’t want that.

Great review! Absolutely hilarious moments with great points and criticisms pointed out. Re:Mind was certainly, in my opinion, a 'Final Mix' done right for nowadays. Especially considering most of the DLC is a 'mini-sequel' of sorts, it certainly made good use of it by having it as DLC rather than having to buy and play the *whole* game again. (Though, as you said, I do wish the saving system was just a little different).
The real plot twist: Kingdom Hearts becomes THE Final Fantasy....
When you think about it, "is any of this real... or not...?" does sounds more like a fantasy than anything else. And concluding a whole genre of videogames with a game that claims other Final Fantasy characters along side Disney characters would be the ultimate fantasy. Honestly I really want to see this happen if Nomura and Square Enix have have the balls to pull this off in a plausible manner.
If this happens, what do you think the title should be? (You may want to consider it along with the FF7 remake... considering the on goings in that game...)

I must say I am quite confused at the "concluding a whole genre" part. Are they meant to ban everyone from creating a JRPG ever again after creating this game? Is only Square prevented from creating JRPGs afterwards? Is the game supposed to be so good nobody would ever wish to play another JRPG because it would not top it and they would rather play this game for the billionth time than get novelty? Or did you use that wording only because it was supposed to end two series and had no word for this as they are generally unconnected except for some cameo appearances? Or did you mean their corporation, as in Square would cease to exist after creating this game because they have achieved their end goal?
Anyways, if a True end to the Fantasy JRPGs from square would appear, I would like it to be called Fantasy Finale, with the fantasy in the classic FInal Fantasy font and the Finale in an artsy, curvy ancient ink-written letter way.
I was talking about the idea of a "Fantasy of All Fantasies" in a philosophical sense.
Wouldn't be a "be-all-end-all" story but, like Star Wars or Final Fantasy, an amalgamation of all world mythologies and religions to explore the biggest questions of our existence.

Update: I know many pepole might be unaware or do not keep up with the uploads of the second channel. Buns posts stream highlights and other random stuff on that channel quite frequently so no she has not quit. She has said that the next video will be kh3 co begginers and it will come out eventually. I reccomend watching her video on the second channel that explains why she hasn't been uploading in nearly a year.
