Even after dumping a ton of Defense boosts and giving him items that boost defense everything wipes the floor with him.
KH3 Donald however, you have more customization options and his AI doesn't get caught in a stupid healing loop.

He then fused the Heartless WITH my double and stored me in Terra’s memories. By doing that I was able to go back in time and become the original Xenahort. My Nobody went on to star in a spin-off game that didn’t actually matter. Also I’m Sora’s dad and you’ve been Maxy all along! I’ve missed ya, son!

Maleficent is the only one that actually is good, because it doesn't tell the exact same story, and therefore has a reason to exist beyond catering to the "cartoons are for children" crowd.

That's why the blood of virgins and a demon's true name as such cliches. The blood symbolizes innocence and the violation of it. The name symbolizes knowledge and the control knowledge grants.
Japanese as a language is highly symbolic in nature. You can see this idea in much better peices of media, like Spirited Away, where the witch steals portions of people's names to forcibly take control over them. The nobodies are renamed by Xemnas to symbolize the birth of a new being, the point of commonality that binds the team, his control over that new being, and more directly, as a secret method of magical control.
The shirt mark is just an expansion on that idea. Sora would have never accepted being renamed so that this magic symbol is a part of his very being, so Xehanort did the next best thing, and snuck it on to his person in a way that no one would notice: by taking of everyone's weird fashion choices.
This is a painfully accurate explanation of my favourite game series and I’m not sure if I should hate it with all of my being or love it.

Kingdom Hearts was relatively straightforward for a while. Then the last 15% of Dream Drop Distance came staggering in like that one drunk uncle at Christmas, added time travel and now everything is a complete mess and half the villains are alive again.

only the first game was straightfoward. as soon as you stepped in chain of memories it already started to enter some pretty dodgy territory. kh2 kinda managed to tidy it up a bit, while still leaving a bit of a mess and then bbs foward is just. JUST. STOP IT.

I think the ending to KH2 would conclude everyone's story lines up to that point and would have been a great ending to KH.
Sora, Riku and Kairi are finally reunited and return to destiny island. Through Sora, Roxas' goal would be achieved; to free kingdom hearts. Roxas would finally reunite with Xion within Sora. Though Axel would be dead his memory and sacrifice would go down in history (With ambiguity that he's not really dead as he had come back beforehand between CoM and KH2). Donald and goofy would finally reunite with Mickey with the threat of maleficent and Pete gone since there are no more heartless or nobodies after KH was freed.

We all know time travel isn't the company's forte given how Final Fantasy 1 was.
After Garland was beat, he got sent back in time and sent the Fiends forward through time... with those same Fiends from the past being the ones that brought Garland back in time... who were sent forward in time by him.
And I think Garland supposedly created the Fiends too.......... so... yeah.
The KH story was fine for me, even after BBS. But as soon as DDD came in, nothing made sense anymore!
