  • Ok so I'm fed up with waiting forever for naan, when a lot of my curries are ready in twenty minutes. I don't want the nasty pre bought oven versions, so I've created these 15 minute doughy naan which I think are incredible (i'm biased) !. Definitely not authentic but they're purely my version of the perfect side dish. I really hope you like these!.

Make a well in centre after mixing and add wet ingredients

I've made this 3 times now. It's so good. Here's the recipe in full. Instead of using self-rising flour, I calculated the needed amount of baking powder to compensate. I also cut the fat by using non-fat Greek yogurt and half of the butter.
260g All Purpose Flour (+ more for rolling out)
    1 tsp Sugar
    1 tablespoon + 1 tsp Baking Powder
    1/2 tsp Salt
8 oz plain non-fat Greek yogurt
    2 teaspoons olive oil
    1/4 cup 2% milk
    4 Garlic Cloves, sliced
    1 tablespoon butter, melted
    2 tablespoons cilantro, chopped
    sprinkle of nigella seeds

260 grams flour equals 2 1/8 cups. These East Indian breads are great for preppers. Have plenty of flour, etc, stored up, then make your own. I've been practicing. I store all grains in the freezer to prevent bug eggs and bugs from forming. Works great for rice. I just made a 1/2 batch of this recipe. Out of yogurt, so substituted sour cream; that worked.
Thank you for putting this recipe in here for us, Haste's Kitchen!

If you are looking for quick homemade naan this is your recipe. I took Indian cooking classes as it is my husband's favourite food. I've been making it for years but my naans have never been great. For the first time using this recipe I was excited to serve this naan and it was a pleasure working with the dough. The dough bubbled up like it's supposed to do and my husband loved it. I am very grateful for this video and recipe and will not use any other from now on. It truly is a game changer and the naan is delicious, like really really tasty. Thanks so much for posting.

Thanks for this recipe! Ridiculously easy to make and tastes amazing! I've made this twice now. First time I put it right on the pan and it was great. Second time I let it rise for a few hours and it was on another level. The dough bubbled up so much more when given the time to rise and it was so much more fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. It also looked more authentic with those classic charred naan bubbles. I also just brushed it with butter and parsley at the end instead of cilantro and nigella seeds for simplicity.

Thanks-we loved it! FYI, many in the comments say their dough was too wet/sticky with 1 cup of yogurt. Try a well-drained (Greek) yogurt...I used 1 cup of my homemade plain, fat-free Greek and it was perfect. It’s very similar to Fage brand plain Greek yogurt if you buy yours (Fage seems to have less whey-liquid-left in it than other commercial yogurts I’ve tried). I used one measuring cup of well-drained yogurt and this turned out perfectly...and I did add a few splashes of milk as directed, as well. If you don’t have self-rising flour, make your own with 2 cups flour+3 tsp baking powder+1/4 tsp salt. Enjoy!

I made 2 & put the rest of the dough in the refrigerator overnight, rolled it out today & made 2 more, of course it was even better! I used a cast iron skillet on low or it gets too hot. I didn't even need the full 3 minutes on both sides. I cooked it with the butter on top the garlic, nigella seeds & coriander. It was so yummy, love this recipe, thanks! Just made this bc I bought curry and didn't have time to make yeasted naan. The dough was too wet so I also had to add more flour. Rolled into four which was plenty for two people. It didn't have that perfect chewy naan texture but it was good for a quick bread and went great with curry!

‘Naan’ means bread so you’re effectively calling this ‘bread bread’. It’s usually just called ‘Naan’.
Great recipe all the same 👍

I just made this, my thoughts; great recipe!
    * I found I needed a little more flour
    * I should have rolled them thinner
    Thanks.

Can't wait to try these delicious looking Naans (not naan bread, I have learned from the comments ha-ha!) with one of your curry recipes! I would also love to see a video of your favorite kitchen tools - knives, pans, gadgets etc there are so many options out there I never know which are worth spending my money on.

Good one... suggestions. .. once the dough is ready just brush with some oil before resting for a bit.... another way to cook is to brush the flip side with water then on a hot flat pan... once it bubbles turn the pan over... flame ... the bread will puff up. .. no need to flip... take out n brush with butter

the trick is getting them really thin then onto a hot pan that is greased but dry. then lather on garlic butter. you would really want the dough sitting overnight for more flavour but in a pinch this will do

I noticed that too. It’s a great pan but I don’t think it’s a good idea to use it unseasoned because it comes shipped with a protective coating from the factory that you should remove before seasoning
