    Something my DinL OFTEN says when she visits my house is, "your house is so peaceful." I believe what she's really noticing is the clean kitchen surfaces, the lack of clutter throughout & the calming effect created by having an easily maintained home. It pleases me, for her, that she has found a place of respite. ♡

      My lovely DIL says the same! They have given us two beautiful grandchildren with another on the way. Whenever they visit, she always says how peaceful our home is, and never wants to leave! We love having the family over, and giving them all a restful place❤️🇬🇧

    mmmm....good points, but I feel the same about towels as you do about dishes. White only, they always match, love that they can be sanitized, and no, they don't have stains, some I've had for years. When they become well worn they become cleaning cloths or rags for vehicle maintenance.

    When I turned 40, my make-up turned on me! I broke out in a rash that sent me to the doctor (and yes, I had new make-up) A switch turned on in my body and I became allergic to the ingredients in most make-up. I'm too cheap to buy the $50/bottle foundation that doesn't cause hives and itchy skin! So! Bye Bye make-up!
    Ditto to candles, wax melts, etc. For some reason, now they cause headaches.
    The plus side is I no longer spend money on these items, nor do I have warehouse them in my home! WIN!

      i’ve only recently started to have issues with drier skin in my mid-60s. I think that’s because I never got bogged down in the lowfat craze. I love cholesterol. It builds hormones and repairs cell walls. we live in a hugely humid and hot climate, the kind where make up melts off your face quickly. I was glad when the mineral make up revolution happened, but got even more minimal when I discovered the Christina compact. It literally takes a couple of minutes to apply, And using different brushes you can choose single or combinations of four basic colors for your foundation, eyeshadow, blush, highlighter, and simply buff away imperfections with ease. they have compacts for everyone from super pale to super deep color skin. And I found that I didn’t have any breakouts after that, so much so that I often wear no make up at all. And my skin looks good. Adding the make up just gives it a little bit of professional polish. Other than that, I just use A dark eyeshadow with a narrow angled brush for an eyeliner (softer looking on aging eyes), and some lip gloss.
      tinted to be very close to my own lip color. I don’t even bother trying to create an eyeshadow or highlighter look anymore. It’s all about quickly creating the healthy flawless glow. I can do that with one retractable brush, pushed all the way out for a loose dusting overall, and pulled back so that the brush is very dense and tight to cover any scarring and discoloration From the past.
      The people that I know who are old who use lots of facial care products look old to me. Wrinkled and pitiful. I questioned the ingredients in those products along time ago and have barely used any of them for 45 years. I frequently wash my face in just water. sometimes I’ll do an oatmeal-based exfoliation. Occasionally I will do a deeper exfoliation with baking soda, vodka, magnesium oil. Every five or six months may be. If my skin feels too oily then I do an oil cleansing. I apply some olive oil or jojoba oil or coconut oil, gently rub it in to the sebum on my skin, and then I get a clean washcloth full of hot water and press it to my face. It does a great job of removing grime, Lifting off some of the old sebum, and leaving my skin feel fresh and moist afterwards. I rarely put soap on my face. But I think these things have kept the fine wrinkles at a minimum, so that I can wear a mineral make up without feeling like it’s getting into the creases.

    I don’t believe in haunted, but I do believe everything has energy attached to it. Sometimes the energies don’t match our own. I try to cleanse everything that comes into the house using a smudge stick and washing. And I also do bless things and ask that they serve me well.

    Absolutely agree with doing one declutter job at a time ..but doing it thoroughly. In a short time today I went through my cookbooks ( accumulated for 48years) I enjoy using some favourites but paired down to 15 cookbooks now in small narrow shelf in a cupboard …and let go of 24 cookbooks!!!. I know most recipe’s can be found online but it’s added even more value to the ones I’ve kept.

      cookbooks are on my list as well, and I can see each Cookbook as one Declutter job.
      My mom‘s recipe cards don’t live at my house, but I took photos of all the recipes that I had memories about and might want to reproduce. Those have come in handy! Mine are still on my phone, lol. I’m eating very differently these days so I don’t cook those things for myself anymore. But it’s the nostalgia…

    I’m glad you got rid of that old pool table. I definitely wouldn’t keep that if you felt like there was something off with it. I think you were listening to the promptings from the Holy Spirit for you to get rid of it. It’s important to keep our homes free from things that invite bad feelings.
    Thanks for your video! It’s a great reminder for me to keep going in my decluttering journey. I think I heard you are in UT. I’m about 30 min south of salt lake! We should be friends! You’re awesome.

      I realized awhile back that I'm using hand towels from the 60s or 70s. They came from my great grandmother's house, and then I also have my Grandmother's hand towels that are at least 90s if not 80s. The ones that are older than me are starting to show wear, but the ones I've bought fell apart a long time ago.

      One of my favorite purchases was a bunch of cotton dish towels that I intended to use as napkins. Nice, generous, that was the plan. Our decorating has changed so they don’t exactly look in Harmony at the table, but they are fabulous Towels for drying the dishes. I can’t stand the new cheap terry cloth ones that won’t absorb water very well. And high-quality ones are through the roof, pricewise. I will probably enjoy these dish towels for the rest of my life.

    • @GoingGreenMom
      @GoingGreenMom 2 месяца назад +1

      @@bitrudder3792 Totally get it! I landed on some cotton bar mops to replace random kitchen towels that wouldn't absorb anything or hold up. I still toss one occasionally, but I pay 20 bucks for 12 instead of 1. Big enough to use as a towel, small enough to wet and wipe down surfaces.

      @@GoingGreenMom - Well, thank you for sharing, I didn’t even know the term “bar mop” but it’s like a large shop towel. And I love that they have some in cotton on Amazon. I have a handful of white cleaning cloths, but none of them are white anymore 🤣.

      @@bitrudder3792 lol, I love the ones from Softelle I think is the brand I have. I went in stages, got white first, which of course didn't stay white. But they all come in as 100% cotton so far just like the listing says.

      There are certain kinds of souvenirs I never bring home, and anything smacking of another religion falls in that category. masks. Statues. Someone gave us a decorative gong with a snake carving above it. I was uneasy about it until I finally got rid of it. After learning about bohemian grove, owls were my next target but my husband is attached to one. Demons are still real.

    Just a tip: Make sure you can reach your shut-off values under your sink, and never put anything under the sink drain. When your plumbing fails, you will lose your items.

    • @bitrudder3792
      @bitrudder3792 2 месяца назад

      I definitely like keeping things fairly clear underneath the kitchen sink. Bathroom sinks as well. I tend to use the big baskets and totes (plastic) so that it takes two seconds to get things out if there is a problem with the plumbing. Also makes it super easy to wipe out the cabinet. I also find it helpful to leave a paper towel underneath the drain so that if a problem starts I’m likely to notice it (Versus having the water drip into a basket full of towels).

      Keep a donatable donate box/tote. When it's full or when you can, you take the whole thing to donate. Meaning the box/tote itself is also to go, so you won't go through it again. Please also remember that going to the donation place is worth your decluttering time and energy. Good luck! ❤

      I store all the decluttered items in the trunk of my car in black trash bags. I try and take a load to the donation at least every month so my car doesn't get too full. I have to say, with your minimalist aesthetic, it’s surprising me that you took five pieces of luggage to Europe. I just traveled to Europe for two weeks with a carry-on only. Granted it was just me but five seems excessive.
