I lost 60 lbs last year and I was shocked when I went through all the clothes that I didn’t fit into and dragged around with me for 10+ years thinking…these might fit me someday. Well now they fit me and I let most of them go because I know I’ll never wear them. My closet is now filled with clothes that fit me and I know I’ll wear. If I go an entire year without wearing something I’ll get rid of it because there’s no excuse that I might be able to use it….someday. I want to implement the 10 minute reset for sure. Looking in my closet when I want to buy clothes - I usually buy the same thing over and over so being able to see my wardrobe is a reminder that I don’t need another blue sweatshirt. Maybe even take a pic of my closet so when I’m out I can look at that when I’m tempted to buy another black hoodie. This was a fantastic video!
This is what I need. I am minimal, but before I got my spring clothes out I had it in my head I needed a new pair of blue shorts. Was looking for some but decided to get the box out first and check. Sure enough I didn’t need them. I had only nine things in that spring wardrobe and didn’t even recall one was blue shorts! So you’re right. I think I need to take photos of what I have too! 😊

I downsized from a house to an apartment, and , although I’m not at death’s door, I don’t want to leave a ton of stuff behind that my son will have to deal with when I die. I do still have way more clothes than a minimalist has, but I wear them, and I do closet clean outs at least once a year, sometimes twice. My non-clothes closets and kitchen and bathroom cabinets are not overflowing any more. My aim is to have every single thing in my apartment be useful and regularly used, or bring me happiness by looking at. The hardest thing for me so far has been getting rid of a lifetime of Christmas decorations. I am down to an amount that fits into the entry hall coat closet….with room for coats. I’m still not up to dealing with family photos and personal papers, cards, etc. But I’ll get there. I’m amazed I’ve come this far. Getting to a point where your possessions do not possess you, is definitely doable. 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
I agree with everything except automatically getting rid of things you forgot that you own. I just had this happen to me yesterday and it was pretty shocking to me that I forgot, TBH. I decided to keep the item, use it, and replace a worn out similar item with it that was in worse shape. I guess I'm suggesting discretion when deciding what to toss. Thanks for a very helpful and encouraging video!
Amazon lists has helped me a ton. So many things I never even revisit there and I dodged a impulse buy! The fun is usually looking at stuff rather than actually buying them :D
Prepping for my next day has been a huge game changer! The night before I'll load up my coffee maker so all I have to do in the morning is hit the on button. It's a small thing, but saving even 5 minutes in the morning has made it much less stressful 😊
Yeah doing it all the night before helps so much….i usually pack the gym bag, my lunch and breakfast and put my travel mug right by the nespresso…i hadn’t thought of putting the actual pod in there the night before til I saw your comment…so now I am going to put the pod in place so that’s one less thing to do in the am.
I never thought I would go so crazy in my nobuy month. So I started investing time and energy in doing crafts, with things I already have. Doing good so far. Also working out more often, intending daily . Thank you ❤
I like what Josh Becker says about minimalism. Just eliminating everything that does not serve you. I will never be the person who gives all my possessions away. But I will edit and remove things that don't serve are redundant or simply are broken, tattered etc. So this was helpful to show ways of maximizing your time and money. I'm here for it in 2024? 🥳🥳
My front room is a mess! We have a baby on the way and all the parts of the crib are scattered everywhere, as well as my shoes (I decluttered down to just 15 pairs✨) and we have a lot of shuffling to do in general. I donated four large shopping bags of clothes this week, as well as over half of my shoes! Feeling pretty good, but there’s more to be done, for sure. Thanks for the inspo always!🤗
I think my husband and I have nailed it by now but it took us some years. Some things that we do: only open and use one bottle/tube/container etc. of something (one bottle of shampoo, one lipstick, one pack of coffee), use up before replacing, only having one item of its kind (one whisk, one pan, one pair of black jeans), buying quality over quantity, mending before discarding, having a "work uniform", watching your cost per use/wear and get it as high as possible.
I take pictures of things I want to impulse by. If I remember to look at the picture days or weeks later, I’ll consider treating myself (within reason). 99% of the time, I forget about the picture and therefore, forget about the item. If I *really* want/need something, it wouldn’t be forgotten.
I have always picked out my outfits the night before and usually try to prepare my lunch then as well. Over the weekend however, I downloaded the Indyx app and just cataloged about 15 items. By doing that I have already made 3 different outfits out of one pair of pants and just a few other items including shoes and jewelry. I have a feeling that this will be my new favorite thing to make sure that I am maximizing my cost per wear and actually seeing what I do and do not need in my wardrobe. 🥳 I figured out that my shopping was an actual addition about 6 months ago and have since made tremendous strides to knock out that bad habit thanks to watching you. I made myself sick when I went back and actually tried to track all the money that I had spent in a year; something about having to type all those numbers into a spreadsheet and watching that number grow is horrific and quite eye opening. I am never going back!!
I'm also trying to style more and utilize what I have. Recently I realized I don't need a yoga or gym outfit per se, I can wear soft T's and other non-workout tanks when I exercise. I'm also experimenting with wearing more casual tops under a blazer or cardigan, for work. My favorite tip is spending more in the categories important to you. Where is your green duffle bag from?♥
🥳 Good list. This morning I was watching a video talking about French Girl clothes for 2024, so I started shopping for "burgundy" on my favorite thrift store online website, while listening to the video. I spent a good half hour in "burgundy," didn't find anything I liked, went on with my day. LATER, much later, I realized: I already HAVE a burgundy wool beret FROM FRANCE that I'm not wearing enough. It's a little snug, and needs to be stretched, because it's authentic French wool, and my hair isn't very accommodating of this style at the moment. Now I have to figure out how to WEAR IT finally and make it work with my life, because burgundy is "in" now. Oh yeah -- and that Herman Miller chair, right on. I bought one (not like yours, but Herman Miller nonetheless) and it's awesome. Yours is absolutely gorgeous. You're going to love it for years. I bought a Honda Element in 2010 for the same reason: practicality and cost per use. I still have it and it just rolled over 320,000 miles. People are shocked that it has that many miles on it; it hardly looks used at all.
Will be using the 5-4-3-2-1 tip, especially in the winter when it can be so hard just to start something! But you are spot on that when we get over the hump of actually beginning something, we’re always happy we did.
I’m finding planning a weekly capsule wardrobe over the weekend simplifies, saving time and energy in the dressing routine. I feel the intentional planning time brings appreciation for the clothes I have and love - i launder, I mend, I declutter, and this time allows for experimentation and styling within my closet. Thank you Christina!❤
❤i follow many of the rules you are suggesting and my life is sooo relaxing!!!plenty of money and time to relax and do what I really love.A hug from Sicily,Italy
I never thought before about "cost per use" factor in my personal finances, though i work in a field that includes production cost analysis! Thank you for this game-changing advice!
I love your video! I have become more conscious lately of the circumstances surrounding the goods I purchase. At the same time, I have embraced a vegan lifestyle, and it's wonderful for me. It is therapeutic to know where my clothing, food, and all other purchases come from. I vote for kinder future, that is the kind of world I am supporting with my choices. Peace to all earthlings.☮
Even before the 1st minute of this video I've liked it literally lol. Thank you for letting us know that we can live like a minimalist without being an actual minimalist.
my favorite is i forgot i owned this. I'm currently on a mission to declutter every room, every cabinet, drawer, closet, everything from my house, and that's usually the rule i go by! Greta video :)
omg the "shopping is my cardio" SITC clip lol 🥳 love the "styling over shopping" mantra and it's def the 2024 vibe for me as well. Documenting my wardrobe and OOTDs in Acloset has also helped me tremendously in actually using/embracing the clothes I already have, not buying any duplicates, and not overspending or shopping
Great video! In my closet if I come across something I'm not wearing, I stop and ask myself why. There is always a reason, just sometimes it's not obvious without thinking about it or trying it on again. Usually it's something I can fix, like it needed to be hemmed, paired with an under shirt, cuff the sleeves etc. Then I take it out of my closet and either do the thing immediately or put it in a pile of garments to fix. Then I put it into an outfit asap. If the problem is that it is uncomfortable, then as much as I might like it, I donate it anyway.
I like getting things ready the night before. Sometimes I may not feel like doing it, but I remind myself that my future self will be so happy if I take care of it tonight. 🥳
🥳🥳🥳 I love the idea of styling instead of acquiring!. That is exactly what I need to focus on this year. And I find that when I really get into that mindset I’m so much happier. I already have tons of great clothes and accessories. Why do I always feel the need to add more???
🥳 Thank you for awesome tips! I plan to make a little extra food at dinner time so I have extra for lunch the next day at work. I’ve failed with full on meal prepping so I’m curious if this helps! I’m also implementing the 1 in 2 out rule for purchases. I’m hoping this will help me decide how badly I really want an item. I already use the waitlist idea and it’s amazing. I definitely agree with your intentionality mindset!
🥳 been buying way too much makeup thinking I need multiple options or the viral thing, would like to shift to using what I already have and delay gratification for buying more, also the counting down from 5 rule I'd like to try
🥳 I learned about the 5-second rule from another youtuber a few years ago, and it actually helped me to throw away an item in my very first decluttering sprint. I felt so silly for having a difficult time with basically trash (old makeup samples, toiletry items, etc.) but I was raised to not be wasteful to the point that it was a problem for my bathroom cabinets! After hesitating, counting from five, and letting go, it became easier every time, but I vowed never to accept free stuff unless I knew for sure that I would use it! Love the 10-minute reset! It's been a great way to wind down every evening before bed and has become the routine that calms me down before turning out the lights ☺️
Every time I watch your channel I do a clean out haha. It makes me realise how much I hold onto and how much I am obsessed with one thing for a week then I forget about it. 😂 I found your channel because I was looking for ways to organise a then very small shared closet space. I’ve found the content really valuable and thinking more about style and shopping in terms of overarching values (also a mild shopping addiction related to how im feeling emotionally). thank you for the work you do! ❤
I find myself always looking for something to purchase. Usually clothes. Why?? Because it makes me feel good( temporarily)and its arrival is something to look forward to Now i realize things dont make one happy. And i should be looking foward to seeing my grandkids graduate, finding that perfect mate, and mine and my husbands 57 year anniversary. Happiness comes from within, not inside a box.
I like the 54321 idea, I also heard if you stand with your hands on your hips like Superman it also helps squash the can't do impulses and intrusive thoughts.
Use it up.... I started this back in 2019 & if I get to a point where I'm just over it I grab something else that needs to be used & I keep rotating until all of them are gone. I barely buy new products anymore because I get bored easily so I'm busy just rotating old stuff constantly.
Hi Christina! I absolutely love the framing of using money to curate our lives. I’m going to keep that front of mind! Thank you for another great video, you’re the best!!🥳
Your wish list habit has changed my spending! I implemented it just after my birthday in October and so far I haven’t bought much for clothes, just a couple pairs of dress pants for work!
🥳 great tips as always. I have a mostly decluttered lifestyle with 2nexceptions that I will be focussing on this year. 1 is my wardrobe. Being a larger person, I always feel less than I want to in my clothes, plus my lifestyle is so basic now that I am retired I get tired of the same old thing, so I spend way too much on clothing that isn’t high quality and has a very short shelf life, or really isn’t flattering after all. I am going to try and learn more what suits me and my lifestyle and reduce spending on pieces that don’t do that. Also to shop my extensive closet and declutter a lot. The second focus will be on streaming our food budget. Honestly we don’t feel like we eat like kings, but spend $1,200 for w people monthly, which is outrageous! I am already working towards managing our food budget much more efficiently this year.
I set a timer or look at my watch to work for a certain amount of time in tidying up or organizing an area in our home. I feel accomplished & not overwhelmed. Thanks, Christina, for yet another practical video content! 😊
🥳 Another great video! I am slowly changing up things that don’t serve me anymore…during COVID I developed some terrible habits, but now have conquered some and I am going to keep going. Thanks for the guidance and inspiration 😁
Hi Christina, I started to watch your channel about a year ago. You mentioned that you were a full blown Aritiza girl, but how do you see your relationship with this brand now? Can you do a video on that? Also, I am based in Tokyo, and in Japan, it is really hard to return things. I see content creators purchasing an item, shoot a video and return an item on YT platform. How do you feel about that? I know you also have a channel that you do with other of your fellow content creators about sustainable fashion. Can you talk about this topic on that channel or on this channel, too? Thank you!
I also got equipment and workout from home. Saves me time after work. I was gone until about 6pm pre pandemic going to classes I enjoyed but running home after to eat and go to bed
All great tips….I've found the wishlist to be awesome. I can’t tell you how much money I save by sleeping on something. I still get that excited feeling when I find something I really like and I’m So sure in the moment I absolutely want it but then waking up the next day to decide it’s unnecessary and so glad I didn’t purchase it. It’s ok to love something but not own it!🥳
I loved this video Christina! Some great ideas for 2024! I’m in Hamilton, so not too far away from you and it’s been so cold! Hard to get motivated in this weather. But your video has definitely helped. I’m going to start the 5,4,3,2,1 today! 🥳
Always food for thought. I'd started doing a couple of this to simplify grim winter mornings but putting clothes together also helps sift your wardrobe. 🥳
Putting jeans, tee shirt, underthings, & socks out the night b4 works really well so as not to waste time when you are half awake in the morning. I also bathe & shampoo in the eve which allows my long, thick hair time to dry. Filling the coffee maker with water & K cup the eve before saves times and may allow me to sit quietly and enjoy my coffee before heading to work.
I actually made use of #8 by sort of reversing reversing #9. When I decluttered almost 2 years ago I came across a bag that I bought many years back - second hand and for a low price. It didn’t fit my lifestyle when I bought it, so I never used it. When I found it and reevaluated it use-case, it just ticked all the boxes for what I needed and I’ve used it on a daily for almost 2 years, with a current cost per wear at $0,03 😅 So sometimes before getting rid of that one thing you forgot about - think about how it could fit your current lifestyle. If it still doesn’t, get rid of it. But if it does, you might actually be able to keep off buying something else! 😊
🎉 Very good video with funny little quips! When entertaining or having friends over, I no longer just buy “ new.” I check to see what’s on hand that can make a good meal. I set out my salad dressings on a tray and it looks so nice. In meanwhile, I created a great meal and didn’t run to the store to break the bank. I celebrate people over things!
This is such valuable content. I find myself already doing most of these things and am very happy with where I’m at in life because of it. Thank you for making this video. 👏🙏
🥳 after writing this comment I'm going to start my wish list. Thankfully I don't have to make wardrobe choices every morning, as a nurse I wear scrubs and my employer says they 14:09 will be black...makes the morning super easy. Now to my wish list in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 lol
🎉 Such great tips, thank you! Watching your videos has been such an integral part in me identifying my personal style! Love the "if you forgot you owned it tip."
🥳 Excellent content. I have been working on minimizing and simplifying my life. It is so fulfilling to focus on creativity, quality and less consumption. Your channel is one of my favorites.
🎉 🎉🎉 10 minute reset/tidy before bed feels like time and energy well spent every morning 🌿coffee pot and insta water pot on a timer is a game changer cheers ☕️🍵
🥳 These all seem great, excited to try them out! 😁 I'm gonna have to rework #9 for myself though, my ADHD forgetting powers are too powerful 😅 One time I put my everyday medicine out of its usual spot while searching for something else, and then wondered for the next month or so why I feel so crappy 🙃 But I'm positive I can make it work 😁
🥳 I like the idea of the countdown. Thats super smart. I also like the I forgot I had this, at that point it’s really easy to declutter at that point. I think the hardest thing I’m struggling with right now is curating what I want to spend money on. I want all the things lol. Although I am doing a low buy in January and that has felt rewarding.
How did you go about finding an affordable personal training package? If you live in an urban area like Vancouver or Toronto, it's SO expensive or you need to go on a contract.
Love this! I'm reading Your Rich Life and doing his journal, and so much of what he talks about is being confirmed in this video. ❤Thank you for another great video.
Thank you! 🥳 Your wishlist suggestion has already helped me so much, thanks for sharing your tips and tricks to keep life simple so we can focus on what’s really important :)
2024: working my closet by pulling things from the back to front, wearing my undecideds one more time to make a final decision, and using the hanger method on this current season capsule.🥳
Yes! I call it “auditioning” my items. I wear it (or use it) to see if it gets A role in my life. My real life....not the fantasy one in my head. If the audition is successful, yay, there is a part in my life. If not, time to pass it along because there is likely someone else who would like to have it.
🥳 I'm doing a hybrid project 333 so I kinda have my outfits planned out two weeks in advance and I've implemented that into my food too so I plan what lunch and dinner I'll be having the week before and prep it.
What are some habits you’re starting to simplify your life? ❤

I bought a cute pink rolling chair at Marshall’s for $70. The wheels sucked but I thought I was now or never. A month later I found a really comfortable brown rolling chair that rolled like butter for only $10 bucks. The looks of the chair didn’t really matter as I always throw a blanket over it because I have cats. Functionality won over looks. And something old won over brand new.

Isn’t it SO fun! It’s like a game! I find it so relaxing to make outfits too!
I actually miss my 2006 Honda Element. I regret trading it in
Will be using the 5-4-3-2-1 tip, especially in the winter when it can be so hard just to start something!
Yayyyy!!
Thank you! I've been in a blah mood for a week now..I love this count down tip! Starting right now..5,4,3,2,1..I'm up! Have a great week!🥳
I’m not sure where you live, but Indiana has me feeling the winter blues! It’s so hard to get going!
I think "spend according to your values" just changed my life. What a wake-up call! Thank you!
🥳 As someone who doesn't need anything and spent over £100 on random sh*t yesterday, I needed this video! Thanks!
Best tip I can suggest,is stop watching beauty content, best thing I ever did!
I like having spending freezes and not buying things unless it is replacing something that's broken or it's something I need.
🥳 I like how your videos encourage me to be better and not encourage bad habits
Every time I watch your channel I do a clean out haha. It makes me realise how much I hold onto and how much I am obsessed with one thing for a week then I forget about it. 😂 I found your channel because I was looking for ways to organise a then very small shared closet space. I’ve found the content really valuable and thinking more about style and shopping in terms of overarching values (also a mild shopping addiction related to how im feeling emotionally). thank you for the work you do! ❤
I find myself always looking for something to purchase. Usually clothes. Why?? Because it makes me feel good( temporarily)and its arrival is something to look forward to
Now i realize things dont make one happy. And i should be looking foward to seeing my grandkids graduate, finding that perfect mate, and mine and my husbands 57 year anniversary. Happiness comes from within, not inside a box.
Always thought provoking and inspiring! Thanks Christina ❤ 🥳
Incredibly helpful tips as always. I’ll be implementing the 5 4 3 2 1 method, thanks Christina! 🥳
Your couch looks very comfy- I don’t blame you for procrastinating on it sometimes!
Great tips! I especially like the 54321 rule 👍🏼
It’s so helpful!!!
Buy cheap, buy twice (or more). Best advice ever.🎉
I couldn't tell she's a minimalist when I first saw her. I love the way she dresses. I admire her own style which is classic and cool!
I pack my lunch the night before. Makes such a difference in how rushed or not rushed in the morning. Love the 5 second rule!
#10 is a very good point. Use what you have first. Do what you can with what you have where you are.
My favorite saying by Joshua Becker about being a minimalist is intentional living. As long as your items are being utilized, keep them.
Hi,
I'm moving in a few weeks, so I try to declutter before and kinf of reset everything. Very usefull advices. Thanks and have a nice day.
It’s ok to love something but not own it!🥳
I’m starting to edit the clothes that I have kept but haven’t worn in years! Thank you for the inspiration.
🥳 thank you for this video! I can’t wait to start using the wishlist method and styling what I already have
I'm finding this video in April and it's a good reminder of how to stay track on my goals. Thank you!
When I found it and reevaluated it use-case, it just ticked all the boxes for what I needed and I’ve used it on a daily for almost 2 years, with a current cost per wear at $0,03 😅
So sometimes before getting rid of that one thing you forgot about - think about how it could fit your current lifestyle. If it still doesn’t, get rid of it. But if it does, you might actually be able to keep off buying something else! 😊
Super helpful tips as usual. Thanks Christina! 🥳
🎉I make my lunch and my breakfast smoothie before bed. Also, I check the weather and let and outfit idea brew before I got to bed.
🥳🥳🥳 always enjoy your no nonsense approach Christina! Also your honesty when you get things wrong or they don’t work out! Reality wins!! Thanks x
I loved this video. Thanks. the tip of counting down 5-1 is game changer.
I also loveeeeee the “spend according to your values”. Thank you!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Great video!🎉 I forgot about the 54321 rule, thanks for the reminder, I need to start using that again!
This video is just what I needed right now. Thank you!
Great reminding tips for me so that I can work towards becoming minimalish.
I really need to try the 5,4,3,2,1 rule to see if it helps me get to the gym. It's been awhile.
🥳 Great video! Super helpful ideas. Can’t wait to give the ones I don’t already do a try. Thank you, Christina!
🥳 I will be using the 5,4,3,2,1 and some of the others as well, but definitely need to stop procrastinating.
🎉 Such great tips, thank you! Watching your videos has been such an integral part in me identifying my personal style! Love the "if you forgot you owned it tip."
🥳I start & stop decluttering all the time. Def want my home simpler
Thank you beautiful lady. I’m about really evaluate what I value the most and toss the rest !
🥳 I use some of these tips already and find them so helpful. Thanks for the new ideas!
🎉 Style, don't buy. Use what you have.... I could go on and on. Thanks for the inspiring video!
I'm gonna have to rework #9 for myself though, my ADHD forgetting powers are too powerful 😅 One time I put my everyday medicine out of its usual spot while searching for something else, and then wondered for the next month or so why I feel so crappy 🙃 But I'm positive I can make it work 😁
Great tips! I learnt some new things from this to implement! 🎉
The best! I love ramit ❤️
🎉good info- just getting started with declutterring & minimalism. Starting in the kitchen.
Thank you! 🥳 Your wishlist suggestion has already helped me so much, thanks for sharing your tips and tricks to keep life simple so we can focus on what’s really important :)
Thank you 🥳 I plan on trying the 24hr delaying gratification I think this will help me with my late night shopping habits 😅👍🏼
🥳 I would love my mornings to run smoothly! I need to use the tip about setting up what I’m wearing tomorrow.
This was a great video! Some of these tips I already did and some are new to me. Happy new year! 🥳
