I’ll say it again, the 3 trillion dollar CARES Act would have given every man, woman and child a $1000 a month for 9 months. All we got was $1200. Instead, we bailed out the rich and large corporations. Socialism for the rich, unchecked capitalism for the rest of us.
Max Jenkins-king gtfoh. Subsidizing businesses is bullshit. Let the market correct itself. Some businesses will close forever. Times change, as does the way we live. This is a nation of people, not corporations. These Corporations are the real welfare queens.
I was homeless at one point and trust me, it’s a feeling I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. Not knowing where you’re next meal is coming from and where you’re going to sleep is truly terrifying. This makes me want to cry.
Why? None of them cared about you when you were homeless. I've lived in destitution all my life, been homeless repeatedly because landlords wouldn't accept someone with a disabilty even when I came with cash in hand, and I've learned how to survive on the edges by sleeping in sheds and eating out of dumpsters. Now let the middle class experience what everyone else has been living with for decades.
@Fed-up I'm a sperglord. I can't do small talk, my interests are esoteric, and I talk, dress, and act so differently from most people that I've been told I come off like an "axe murderer." Apparently what bothers people the most is that I overshare with complete honesty; I lack whatever it is which allows most people to lie constantly and effortlessly about _everything._ This means I can't hold any job for more than a few months even if I can manage to act my way through an interview, can't get landlords to rent me a home, get sub-standard health care, and so on. I've survived by doing work which doesn't require any physical contact with human beings (like writing erotica), but it's getting harder and harder to survive on the margins like that as the world becomes meaner and more conformist.
Bless your heart. I pray that things are better for you, and I pray that things work out for those that are suffering in Jesus name. This too shall pass.
People say " your sons still live with you?" Yes, yes they do. Together we have a good life. We care for each other. We respect each other's privacy. Alone we would suffer, scraping by.
Yes and no. It's getting vary stressful I have multiple sclerosis and Praying the stress doesn't make my condition worse. But I haven't come this far just to come this far!!

Me and my two children were evicted in June, after loosing my job as a bartender. Now we are staying in a hotel and trying to get by every single day, it's SO hard alone after loosing both my parents recently. I keep searching for work but I get the same thing "were not hiring right now," all I ask for is prayers. We will get thru this.
My prayer for you: God, bless Nikki and her family with good job prospects, shelter, healthy food, and a sense of hope and strength to get through this time.
So sorry to hear that Nikki. It has been a tough job market, been unemployed for 7 months now...as long as businesses are closed or running at min capacity, it’s going to be a process. Keep trying to apply and hope you are eligible for some govt assistance. Sincere condolences about your parents, stay strong ...things will turn around. Praying for you and your children
Very true. Money is the root of evil. Love will solve the disparity in humanity - if only people knew what it is to be loved..only some but the majority barely show it.
lol i was browsing through disability benefits earlier today. And it seems extremely limited unless you are a disabled vet. Disabled vet is honestly a very small minority of the general disabled population..... Not to mention disabled people lack a means to sustaining themselves from birth vs a vet who may have had family/friend/wife and saving already in addition to Vet benefits. I dont mean to compare the 2. Both deserve all that they can but it boggles my mind the govt doesn't distribute a clear legal service for disabled people....Like just act like they dont exist and people are only disabled from war
@Last Chance absolutely unacceptable to speak to a veteran that way, or anyone who is disabled for that matter. Not everyone was handed a silver platter in life. Be more compassionate. You lack empathy.
Whats really crazy is these landlords aren't going to find new tenants, no one is moving right now and everyone is struggling! My parents and I own rental properties in Tulsa and I couldn't even think of throwing a tenant out on the street! There a dark hole in hell for these people... I've told my renters if they cant make rent call me and let me know, we'll spread the rent out over a year, or 2 years. This makes me furious!
@@roaddog7542 What do you choose to pay when you are a minimum wage worker that lives paycheck to paycheck? Do you feed your children, or pay your rent? In Oklahoma where i live, if you make minimum wage your weekly unemployment is 150 dollars a week if you work 40 hours a week which isn't the case in most situations, that's 604 dollars a month. Average rent in the area I live is about 700 dollars(already a shortfall). Now add Credit card bills 150, utilities 150, cellphone 75, and car insurance 80. You're stuck in a hole that is pretty hard to dig out of. especially when the unemployment boost is gone it's easy to see how people aren't able to pay rent.
@@Aaron-gm5tr Did they get a $1200 stimulus check? An extra $600 a week on unemployment? Are they paid "under the table" and lost their job? Curious how they went from paying rent to not. It's not the landlords fault either but being heartless in the middle of a pandemic isn't the right answer... And saying guess these people who barely make enough to live day to day should have saved for a rainy day is a ridiculous argument when landlord should be doing the same thing! Especially since they are in a better position to do so. Instead they handed out billions to companies that took the money and still fired their employees...

Those landlords will write it off as a loss on their income tax either way! American Greed. If the government is going to allow this, they should at least provide a roof over their heads!
I’m moving back with my parents and told my landlord I’m leaving (I’ve paid until my last day already). She wants to show the house while I’m still living here because she’s legally allowed. It’s such a safety risk to let strangers in the house during a pandemic, and she couldn’t even wait a few weeks for me to be gone first. I’m leaving early so I don’t have to be in a house with strangers coming in. Meanwhile she’s neglected to fix a leak in the basement for two years. I’ve been here 5 years and never missed rent payment. Landlords are so ruthless and don’t care about their tenants. They only care about money. Just because something is legal doesn’t mean it’s right.
Jazvelyn Ruiz Thanks, I have and I’m sure I have a case to possibly collect damages. However she’s also a VP at the company I work for and I don’t want to risk my job security by stirring things up. I’m leaving in a few days and as long as I get out of here with my health I will just have to be ok with it and trust karma to take it from here.
That sounds awful. Your landlord is definetely a selfish person but not all landlords are like that. I live in South America and my parents have one very small house and a two room space (inherited and bought for a low price a long time ago) that they rent and they care about their tenants, they fix whatever problem that presents, they charge a small amount (less than the average price) and haven't collected the rent money since the pandemic started (they still work jobs and we are middle class) I believe landlords have to think about the future, put realistic prices and care for the tenants that take care of the property and pay on time (this covid time is an exception imo, I'd say divide the rent amount and pay it over, say a year). I do reckon that the housing and renting system in the U.S is terrible for so many people. It's so cold and disconnected to the working people's needs and mostly just defends the rich.
Very sad and very real. I was happy to hear that when my sister lost her job in Chicago, her landlord told her “well like they said, we are in this together” and she reduced her rent by $500 until she could get back to work. It’s been months like this and I’m very grateful for people that are kind and not greedy.
JM really? being a landlord is a job and maybe they are retired but regardless they are not leaching it is their earned asset and renting it is their return for paying it off.apparently you’re either living in a bubble of entitlement or spill out comments that make no sense.
That’s very nice, I’m sure the $500 is what covers the tax bill. I used to get breaks like this in my early years but would barter to make up the difference by doing lawn care, painting, or house work for landlord so it felt like an even trade, not feeling like I owed her anything not even my dignity but still grateful.
Lina Joy....have you contacted Dept. Of social services....the United Way...and other organizations and catholic charities....they can help!....also there is extra funds that each state suppose to have to assist with back rent...also have you applied for PUA...under unemployment....if you lost your job due to PANDEMIC, then you are elgible for PUA..UNDER UNEMPLOYMENT....ALSDO FOOD STAMPS...ALSO ASSISTANCE WITH LIGHTS AND WATER.....

@@andreamiller1285 Dear Andrea: We need more than term limits. We need a new US Constitution. NOWHERE in the present Constitution does it mandate the Fed Govt to care about public welfare, not during a pandemic or EVER. FDR recognized this structural deficiency in the Constitution in his last State Of The Union address in 1945 when he called for an Economic Bill Of Rights to mandate full time employment, free medical care, free education, expanded SocSec and more. Unfortunately he died soon after this speech. But what FDR admitted publicly is that the Constitution has such a basic flaw that it would require a number of amendments to fix it, as happened when the 1st Bill Of Rights was enacted. Remember that the American Revolution of 1776 was NOT a "people's revolution". It was literally a "businessmen's revolution". America freed itself from Britain for the benefit of American business, and not for the benefit of the American people as a whole. Therefore, the Rich White Men who founded this nation wrote a Constitution that was more like a corporate charter than a plan for a national government. That's the way that it's been since Day #1 in America, and what we see today is just the latest chapter. Another election, or another 10 more elections won't fix what's wrong with America, Andrea. It's time to substantially change the Constitution that all those elections are about. ( ruclips.net/video/3EZ5bx9AyI4/видео.html ) ... jkulik919@gmail.com
Dear CCU- -NURSING: They are doing the people a "favor" because NOWHERE in the present Constitution does it mandate that the Fed Govt care for the people. Soc Sec, welfare, unemployment insurance, and the rest were literally FAVORS that the Fed Govt did for the people because the Constitution in no way requires these programs. That's exactly why it was easy for Reagan and those who came after him to whittle away at all those programs, namely because they were enacted by simple Law, and not by the requirements of the Constitution itself. ... jkulik919@gmail.com

Not everybody has good, healthy, functional parents. Not everybody has a functional family. Also, their parents/family may be struggling to care for themselves/live in small apartments. You’re assuming too much and I think the video just went over your head, like the main crux of it is that it makes no sense to evict 28 million people whilst simultaneously telling everyone to stay at home. The entire logic is incomprehensible.
Many parents are renters themselves and would risk eviction for overcrowding and/or taking on extra tenants not currently on the lease, if their adult children and families, were to come and live with them. Even landlords may be too restricted by the tenancy laws to be able to allow their tenants to live in such crowded conditions.

New Orleans is the WORST when it comes to cruelty from the law, regarding evictions. I paid rent on a Tuesday, went to work on Weds, and about 10 minutes after I got home (after an 11 hour shift as a car repair shop manager/mech) the cops showed up and told me I had TEN MINUTES to leave! I was freaked. I'd just paid ALL the rent for me and my room mate the day before..... didn't matter. The thing is, is that the apt. manager hadn't added me to the lease yet. For whatever reason. I thought I was on the lease and the manager hadn't said a thing when I paid the rent the day before. So, my clinically schizophrenic room mate decided out of the blue he wanted me out. No clue, no warning and it seems he was off his meds. And me? I was out of luck. Didn't matter WHAT I said. Didn't matter I'd just shelled out $1600 the day before. I had ten minutes to grab what I could, and leave, or be arrested. I was blown away. I left New Orleans 2 weeks later. So glad I live on the West Coast!
@@misshoneynevercame4832 Thank you, sweetie. And yes, I had a receipt and everything. Didn't matter. I was hysterical. I'd just spent a buttload of my monthly pay. (I'd paid it all, because my room mate had lost his job recently, so I'd been covering as a favor, because I'm a nice/stupid person) But, nope. A receipt was worthless to the cops, because my name wasn't on the lease. In fact, when I got in my car, packed with as much as I could grab in 10 minutes, the cops said I had to hand over my gate card, and when I refused, they pulled a freaking gun on me!!! Lethal threat from cops, over a gate card!! I said I had to be able to come back for my belongings, they told me tough sh*t and to hand it over or they would open fire! It was one of the most surreal and scary things of my life! The law in New Orleans is way different than in Oregon!

I recall sitting there in my car when that jerk pointed a gun at me over a gate card, and part of me was thinking, 'screw it! is the dude REALLY going to SHOOT me over this??? I should just drive off!'..... sometimes I wish I'd tested it, y'know! Like, how was he going to explain THAT to his boss? LoL But yeah, like I said, it was pretty surreal. What about church buildings as temporary housing? I’ve always wondered why churches need to have those large buildings for sermons on the weekends and empty most of the week... So much for loving thy neighbor!??Church’s should help!
Haha. There’s a church in a town near me people would sleep under their overhangs up a few steps right outside their door or in another completely covered area down steps and the pastor literally had them arrested and laughed at them. Those same people actually got a girl arrested and thrown in jail for 3 days because she flipped because they kept following her. She flipped again then the Chief of Police gave them paperwork himself saying if they made contact with her again they would be arrested not her. Sadly it took that for them to leave her alone. Sometimes churches and people who go to church are the biggest Hippocrates there are. Say to help your neighbor yet something simple they could do to help someone like letting them sleep on their steps overhang out of the elements they refuse and have them arrested for just wanting out of the wind, rain, snow, etc.
People have been paying into these churches for years. Tax free money. Then when the people need them, they are nowhere to be found. Wake up people. These churches are nothing more than pits of oppression that prey on the people. Keeping them poor and in bondage. Covid has exposed a lot about people, this government and a lot about this country. Its every man/woman for themselves.
We’ve strayed far away from the ideals Abraham Lincoln once said “Government of the people, by the people, for the people.” Now its just “government of the circus, by the clown, for the arrogant.”
The level of denial and compassion fatigue in this country is terrifying. People just convince themselves this pandemic is done. Over. I've heard so many people say that the "extra" unemployment money is deterring people from going back to work. Of course, everyone I've heard this from didn't lose their job...
nothing to do with compassion...some people need to pay their mortgages. Some people don't get a pension and their retirement is based on their property too...so i understand where they come from.

Katniss Everpetty You didn’t answer my question. How is the landlord supposed to pay their mortgage if they receive no rent? Compassion doesn’t pay bills. You don’t seem to understand that there’s always someone above. A landlord isn’t a god who makes houses pop into existence by snapping their fingers. They are barely above their tenants in the social hierarchy. They have mortgages and other debts to pay. Often they barely make ends meet. People who rent out their property generally do so because they can’t afford a mortgage with only their day job income. If the renters don’t pay, the landlord can’t pay. If the landlord can’t pay, they lose their property. If they lose their property, the renters lose their home.

Funny thing is the people they evict are going to move into the new tenants previous unit and that person also was evicted and moved in but before it ding their credit. So them evicting just to move someone else in who also was evicted from somewhere else for the same or similar reason only they dont know cause it hasnt yet hit their credit is what makes no sense.
Please record everything (conversations, text messages, look into your lease) incase they do something shady.
You should’ve moved out when she didn’t fix anything in the place. Red flag
Omg :/
It's a blessing that the landlord was able to do that. It affects both parties...renter and landlord.
Amen
JM really? being a landlord is a job and maybe they are retired but regardless they are not leaching it is their earned asset and renting it is their return for paying it off.apparently you’re either living in a bubble of entitlement or spill out comments that make no sense.
They can do that?

We need Term limits. This is getting nuts.

People have too much pride. "I'm 31 years old, I can't go live with my parents." Um, yeah you can, actually. Living alone is unsustainable. In most places around the world, the whole family lives together forever. This whole thing about people growing up and moving out of their parents home is an American thing and it's unsustainable.

Did they do anything about mortgages?
Pamela Morris - in Canada?
Teresa Kolcow Yes. No charge Deferrals but I think that was only 3 months, most did not utilize that.
Hez Griffin in NY they weren’t supposed to do evictions & then the landlords were supposed to work out a repayment deal with their tenants. However, there were stories circulating that people were still being evicted during the quarantine period.

No, will turn church into skidrow

The only rights anybody has is to the security of their persons, houses, papers and effects. If buddy renting CAN'T pay then he cant be secure in his persons when hes kicked out onto the street. This is why renting property should just be illegal. And the fact that when you break this law (which does place you as committing theft over 20$) you have the RIGHT to trial by jury. Yet people are convinced this sham process where a judge just tells you to kick rocks somehow upholds the peoples rights....
bbmblais Some people can’t afford a mortgage though, which is why they rent. It’s normally cheaper. I agree that a landlord 100% has every right to kick you out at anytime over anything. It’s ultimately his house.
@@rapl1183 Rent is normally not cheaper than a mortgage. A person rents because they don't have either the money and or credit to buy a house
Lets all just have a moment in silence for the people that have lost their lives, their homes, and their money from this pandemic. You are in our hearts! ❤️❤️❤️
I live with my sisters , we all pay rent and it’s split . I pay $305 and then $160 for utilities. I make $800 month. I’m in college and use $54 of welfare card to spot check me for groceries . Transportation is roughly $84 a week. I have a side photography business that helps bring in some money . Since the pandemic business has been really slow . I’m great full for the life I have and know I will not be here forever , one day I’ll have a high paying job and I’ll be able to afford my own home. Sometimes you have to do the things you really don’t want in order to help you get to where you want to be. I wish them luck !!
Give this woman a 🏅. She knows what's up.
Amazing drive & positive attitude, that will bring you success.
"Compassion is a wonderful word but compassion is shown by following the law and not allowing your emotions to dictate." Yea sure keep telling yourself that buddy.
I know, right?
Compassion IS an emotion!
And it's also a choice.
That guy reminds me of the Nazis during the Hindenburg trial...the ones who said that they were "just following orders.
@@spiralrose my immediate thoughts as well! (I'm German, maybe that's why tho..)
@@spiralrose you know what else is a choice? Living beyond your means and having no savings.
