- Up to one million people in Germany are considered to be experiencing homelessness. Despite having a job or a pension, many are unable to afford a home of their own.
According to estimates, the number of people experiencing homelessness has been rising steadily since 2008. For too long, politicians have ignored the problem and neglected to collect comprehensive data - even though the issue has long since reached the heart of society. It’s only now in 2022 that the German government will have collected nationwide data to assemble official statistics. Because only people housed in community or emergency shelters are counted, this analysis will be supported by additional reporting on the number of people living on the streets.
The problem is exacerbated by overburdened aid and support systems, a lack of coordination, a tight housing market and real estate speculation. For experts such as social anthropologist Luisa Schneider, it mainly comes down to a lack of strategy: "At the moment we find ourselves in a situation where we are managing, but not solving homelessness. If we don’t change our social structure, these numbers are going to skyrocket. The problem can’t be solved with our current system."
Reporter Max Neidlinger accompanied several people experiencing homelessness. Their stories are examples of an ever graver problem: More and more people are homeless or, less visibly, being housed in makeshift accommodation. There is a lack of both affordable housing and a long-term strategy to support those affected. Yet in a joint declaration of EU member states, Germany has pledged to work to end homelessness by 2030.
Homeless people in Germany have been forced to fend for themselves. Many of them are unable to seek help or are unaware of possible assistance. Some feel a sense of shame and oftentimes they live hidden away, somehow managing to survive. How is it possible that in one of the world’s wealthiest countries, people increasingly cannot afford a home of their own, despite having a job or a pension? And why has there been inaction for so long?

I've been homeless and lived in a garage with my dogs. Doing it in the middle of a Ohio winter is tough. I also walked around a lot. It's one of the most desperate, lonely feelings I've ever had. Watching people live normal lives. I've gotten myself out of the situation but at a cost. I lost my dogs. They had to go to a rescue. My heart was broken. People would be amazed how many homeless stay that way because of their animals.
Most dogs are better than most people. Imo.

This is cruel, outrageous and unjust. My dogs are my love and my life. If I were to give them up I would give up on myself just as soon. What good a flat would then do for me? Why is it harder to find accommodation for a person with pets? Pets don't destroy flats. Or at any rate much less than small children, smokers, or young people partying hard. So why are pet owners singled out and discriminated against? Makes me angry.

I'm a 72 year old British woman and at my age there's not much that surprises me, but this documentary really shocked me. I never thought that such a problem would exist in a country like Germany.
When you look arround you homelessness is everywhere. Just look at the sides of A roads and empty secluded areas.
Your generation saw the best after 2 World wars. They give the public some freedom but not before reading them back till now.

I'd love to see stats on before and after the migrant/refugee crisis. Perhaps the reason you didn't see it before is that it was much more unusual in the past?

Praying is nice…encouraging people to vote for Politicians with Socialist polices that helps the people is even better.
I.e more affordable public housing - rent can be low enough to simply cover administrative and maintenance costs.
Public housing serve one simple function.
Push for nice retirement homes, close to amenities, public transport and tied to the retired working class’s pensions, instead of banks gambling it on the stock market.
On the other hand
Private and corporate real estates have housing with a profit motive first and foremost, having those homes affordable is not even a consideration;..if anything they take up prime real estate space and only attract the wealthy both foreign and domestic which in turn just drives up housing prices even further.

The scariest part is that it could happen to ANYBODY. And that is so awful, people who are used to having a place to live and now all of a sudden boom, there is NOTHING. Nobody should have to live like this.

Happened to me. My ex and i broke up and I had to move out. Prior to us being together I had an apartment and was ok. Afterwards my apartment was $600 a month more expensive for example ($1200 to $1800 a month) and I was priced out. Housing is completely out of control. Living in my van has afforded me to pay off all my debt and save 8k, something i would never be able to do paying the insane rents.
That same apartment used to be $800 a month. That’s realistically what it was worth.
Anybody ? No. Anybody who isn't prepared, maybe. People who don't have their priorities in order, maybe. Not just "anybody".

The true myth of homelessness is that everyone who is on the streets are either drug addicts, drunks, or have mental issues and this is simply NOT the truth.... no matter what the country is that you live in.🥺
In the US - allegedly one of the richest countries on the planet - the average, working American, is only two missed paychecks, from being homeless....Fact. We use to have 5 classes in this country - the poor....the working poor....the middle class.....the upper class....and the rich. Now, we have basically 3 - the destitute....the working poor...and the rich.

It's more painful to see elderly people going through this. They should be taken care of.
Worldwide elderly abuse is increasing. Ageism is at the root. Older people have defend themselves against society to keep from becoming economic refugees.

My brother recently told me he was homeless, living in his vehicle many years ago.
It shocked me, he never asked me for help.
Unfortunately, I was stationed in Okinawa Japan at the time.
It's an eye opener.

I lived in Germany 76-79 and 90-93. Never saw anything remotely resembling a homeless problem. Housing was hard to get in the early 90s but lots of housing was being built.
Loved living there…I’ve been back a few times since. I was in the Munich Bahnhof in 2010 and tossed a bottle in the regular trash. An elderly lady walked over and took it out and I thought she was shaming me. But I watched another video of how many poor pensioners were in Germany and I realized she was collecting recyclables for the money.
All I can say is wow...I watch a lot of documentaries and this is one of the best filmed and edited ones I've ever seen.
When I whisked me way through Germany last summer on the ICE train through Frankfurt and Koln to Hamburg, I never imagined there were that many homeless in the country.
It's a big problem in Canada too, and only getting worse with the rise in inflation and the never ending rent increases.
I truly admire the effort that Euro countries are making to try to mitigate this pressing issue, I only wish the government here cared as much.

Canada is so vast with population so tiny so how come housing problem occured there?
@@harukrentz435 because most of the population here is concentrated into less than 1% of the land mass, mainly the cities and larger towns. More people are coming to the cities so demand is high, but new construction is not keeping up or it's quite expensive, plus a lot of the older, more affordable rentals are being torn down or renovated to get those high rents that investors want. The housing market here, like many other places around the world is being manipulated by wealthy owners and investment groups. I'm lucky to have an apartment, here in my city the vacancy rate is around 1%.
I rewatched and realized the older lady was in Kiel, which I wanted to visit but couldn't because I had to keep going to Denmark.
Kiel has one of the last remaining German U-Boats, a historical piece (I'm a historian).
I didn't notice any homeless in Denmark but just like Germany, I'm sure they are there.

Not really. The government is the one doing the manipulating.
People don't realize how pets can give people a reason to hold on and keep going. A lot of people would die if they didn't have their pets, because they wouldn't have anything else to live for.
As in furthering their ego since it's much easier to have your way with a pet than another human who can think for him/herself and won't tolerate abuse.
I think everyone knows the value of an animal to take care of, for companionship etc. The risk is for other service users who maybe allergic. I’ve volunteered before as a pet fosterer for a woman’s refuge. Health n safety rules are so strict. I’m really shocked at this documentary although I live on poverty line I’m so greatful I’m not homeless.

I will keep these wonderful people in my thoughts and prayers. Homelessness is a united nation issue and we never truly appreciate what we have unless we see these people hurting this way. God bless them all.

I'm 56, in the town I grew up in (Ajax, Ontario, Canada) the average house price was $35,000. It is $700,000 now.
It sounds like my city? San Luis Obispo, CA. I can't afford a simple room for rent. The average cost of a room is $850+ . The average cost of a house is about $700k and higher.
True everyone should be guaranteed at least a one room apartment at an affordable price. I bought my 2 room apartment in Copenhagen for $ 15.000 around 20 years ago, now it valued at $ 150.000 . It's crazy and sad really for those ordinary people or young people trying to get a home 😕

@@dadikkedude exactly, it's the hidden inflation. The real inflation is a lot higher than what government say, usually they say 2%, but in reality probably 5-6% or higher or year.

@Johnny - Learning n' helping it truly is a worldwide phenomenon so they say I don't think it's a phenomenon I think they're doing it on purpose to extract every dime they can while they can
This is happening is America as well. If you go to San Francisco you will see such a sad site. All our government does is talk. They get funds and that money goes to the workers who make upwards to 300k a year and then say they need more money that never gets to the people who need housing. It’s very wrong how things work here.

@@DWDocumentary 1. She is not really homeless; it's not ideal, but half of Spain lives in garages. 2. It's her choice to have those dogs; it's not like she adopted some kids here or anything. Pets ARE a societal luxury. Given climate change and overpopulation, the whole pet-keeping mania is actually a problem. All that dog food is rain forrest right there. So she is making a choice I am afraid, which is why she went on TV to raise awareness I suppose. Good on her she loves her animals so much but she is making a choice here. 3. If I go by this intro, homelessness is such a problem in Germany, you can't even find a real homeless person for your intro.
It's a human societal problem innate to the concentration of people in towns and city structures. No one, to date, has found an all encompassing solution since the causes are many.
I live in the U.S. and I've been homeless due to being hit by a drunk illegal immigrant with no license or insurance. I lost the house I was buying laying in a hospital bed in my living room for over a year and over another year in physical therapy. Meanwhile I was working on trying to get disability benefits because I am not able to work due to the injuries from being hit - I am not going to say car accident because it was anything but an accident. I was homeless for over 6 years, applying for disability benefits 3 times each time taking over 2 years to get denied and having to reapply. I live in Michigan, northern part of the southern peninsula. I did 3 Michigan winters in a tent and 3 in a camper. Believe it or not the tent was way better. Trying to heat the camper was harder than heating a tent. I'm now in an apartment that I really hate living in. The neighbors and the rules are insane - literally. And because I live on disability and have government assistance I have everybody and their brother up my ass wanting to know everything about me- what I have, what I don't have, how much money I have or don't have, where my money comes from and where I spend it etc. etc etc.. Being homeless was almost better than the way I live now - at least being homeless I didn't have everyone in my business. I didn't know how I was going to get out of being homeless and now I don't know how I'm going to get out of the situation I'm in and better my life. I want to buy a house again but I don't know how I'm going to make that happen with all the restrictions I live under keeping me down. Homelessness is a worldwide problem that our society doesn't understand at all. People look down on homeless people, as if they're the scum of the earth just because they're homeless. When you get down to the extent of being homeless and then relying on the government to get out of being homeless, it's really very hard to get back up to an acceptable level of living again. I really hate this appartment. I have to make myself think of things to be grateful for every day - like I'm glad I don't have to cut firewood for heat because I'm not physically able to anymore, I like sleeping in my bed instead of a cot and sleeping bag, I like being able to take a shower when I want to or need to, and I like not having to worry about being told that I have to move because I can't stay here or there anymore. It's hard living like this, but it's also hard being homeless. Either way, it's hard to get back to living self sustainable and being able to improve your life. I can't even save money in a bank account because I'll get penalized for it one way or another - they'll raise my rent, cut my food card, or just make me sell anything of any value and possibly just take the money I've managed to save. Making money is the same thing, I get penalized for it, losing more than I make somewhere in the mix. Can't win for losing - ALL BECAUSE I WAS HIT BY A DRUNK ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT WITH NO LICENSE OR INSURANCE. Oh yeah, the illegal immigrant that hit me was not deported or prosecuted. He gets a free ride while I pay the cost of his crime

Your story is why I am such a hard line opponent of the current immigration policy. We have the laws but the corrupt liberal goverment is not enforcing the laws that we the people want and our elected officials enacted.
I will pray for you. I understand what you mean about the alphabet soup agencies being in your business . I was on welfare for a few youears when my daughter was a baby. It’s rough, really rough.
I can say that the cost of living in the Southern US is cheaper and you are more likely to get your own home here, if you wouid be happy wirh a mobile home .
And where I live in northern Alabama, you don’t pay any property tax on your primary dwelling if you are disabled. And that really helps. So get your disability ifnyou can, keep,persuing anything that brings you money .
This poor lady, worked all those years and she has 2 little beloved dogs and she is homeless. I'm crying this is breaking my heart. God bless you and care for you and you furry companions. I was homeless for 5 years in New Zealand. Single people of middle age up seem to really cop it as rents are phenomenal here.
I worked my trade and took a night job so I had somewhere warm to be.
It changed me forever. Took a long time to stop hating the politicians who mismanaged the mess.
I have zero faith in the future for many of us. Go well guys.. you gotta be resourceful
And Germany giving illegal migrants free housing and making mosques in place of churches and giving government benefits whereas their own population is homeless and poor, wow it's a big shame.

The other problem is, here in my country ( and probably many) rich overseas people are allowed to buy numerous properties, pushing up prices.

No matter which country they are from. All homeless are deserve a shelter. Been homeless for few weeks in India. I mean spent all those days in my office only with one pair off clothes, since my rented house was seized by my owner. I literally cried every day. It's very hard to spend as homeless.

Shelters shouldn't be prisons though. Everyone deserves more than a house everyone deserves a home.

I m from Berlin and within the last years, I see more and more old people collecting bottles because their retirement just doesn't last until the end of the months and the rents are getting higher and higher, among other things. It's heartbreaking and it definitely increased, although many of those had been working for most of their lives.
Also heartbreaking they want them to give away their pets.. Many, especially elder people, often do not have family or a support system of a similar kind. insisting of abandoning their beloved pets is cold and inhuman. It's really sad and makes me afraid of getting old somehow. All the best for those people and their pets

unfortunately with increasing planet's population it seems like huge amount of resources is spend on just keeping the pets, while there's people out there who have hardly anything to eat in Yemen or Syria

I was in Berlin to visit friends and I notice that the rent increases, I was shocked
I’m not German, I lived in Berlin for a few months (was doing an internship) and believe it or not I was able to live with less than 250 euros (excluding the rent of course). I used to go clubbing every single weekend.
Every single German can get at least 500 euros (excluding accommodation) and basic health insurance if he/she is unemployed or old!
"AND MY DOGS ARE LIKE MY CHILDREN. I AM NOT PUTTING THEM AWAY!!" ....... God bless that senior woman and may she find a place to live. If she was here I will immediately offer her a room in my home.

There are organizations that vet potential roommate /renters and homeowners and match them up. Try contacting the United Way, churches, social services to get info about such groups operating in your community. If you are open to offering someone a room in your home, you may find yourself with a new friend. Blessings!

Most of us are one bad event away from homelessness. Bodily injury, house fire, tornado, tsunami, earthquake, job loss, business loss, law suit, wrongfully accused of a crime, no family to help, loss of roommates you used to spli rent with
This is an outstanding documentary, DW, on a depressing issue in our society. My highest regards and respect for those with the courage to talk about their lives on this video, as they have now become part of the solution by sharing their struggles with us. It can happen to any of us. I salute you DW for introducing us to the plight of real people and not just statistics that can not talk or express the emptiness and despair of homelessness.

Sometimes all a person needs(other than housing), is to stop being invisible. Every one of us would just simply feel like we have value and that we are seen.

@@audisnewbeginning8616 The loneliness must be one of the most depressing difficulties of a homeless life. I can’t believe more community shelters with bathrooms and basic sleeping facilities haven’t been built in homeless hotspots. Might be a good way to advertise - a company sponsors a homeless community. I would definitely buy products from companies that do this!
I volunteer at a homeless shelter that closes each day at 3pm. These folk have lost everything except their pride. It is an honour to assist them and I have made such wonderful friends. I only wish we could offer overnight sleeping facilities.

It's so sad when people say that those suffering from homelessness can help themselves perfectly easily. There are so many obstacles and struggles, yet many people want to ignore it.
That is part of the loneliness, isn’t it. Not only are you destitute, there is hardly humans willing to connect or even look in the eye. all the while assumptions are made that you must be lazy or a swindler.

That's the prejudice. Not knowing or admitting this situation can come for anyone it gets kicked down the road. Until a door gets slammed. Harsh.
Fail of mankind that we as a society can live in ignorance like that. People make a choice to judge the homeless, repeat the lie that they get themselves into it on their own and they can easily get out on their own. Consciously dismiss so many real life stories which can be easily found on yt. AND which can easily happen to anyone: flood, fire, storm, fraud, money draining health condition, and the slippery slope - you lose your job so you lose your income, if you lose your income you eventually lose your home. Also the sytem is wrong if from taxes they feed the institutions but there is no crisis emergency scheme to help out in such cases and bring someone back on the surface - not only the person is saved but this person is again a value as a workforce, tax payer and consumer.

Same story in the Netherlands. Probably in many places in Europe these days because housing is just getting too expensive

True. Even here in Italy. The prices are just ridiculous and scary. The government should regulate housing costs and should be proportionate to a medium income. Here, most people earn +/- 1000€ a month on average. A 1 bedroom flat can cost 600 add utilities and a person has nothing left for food, etc. It's really bad.

I think the perfect solution would be those tiny houses. A lot of people just want running water, power, heat, toilet and a kitchen with room to sleep. People are building these tiny houses for $20,000. Just imagine how many tiny houses counsels can build and fit on a fair size piece of land. Not everyone wants or needs a mansion.

If you are homeless in Finland in the winter, you die. If you are homeless in California in the winter... I'd say the level of motivation is different between Finland and California.
@@twofortydrifter There are shelters for homeless and many officially homeless people live with friends or relatives. There used to be some real hardcore people who made huts to forests near Helsinki but they have disappeared. One guy lived in a tent in a middle of very big roundabout for years.
Fellow Californian. It is so bad here. People on the streets that have children or are elderly and ill. No address, no benefits. Not enough rooms in shelters. I’ve seen those little villages where they build tiny homes into a village. They have community restrooms, showers, laundry facilities. And the rules are no drugs or alcohol. I understand why they do this but I feel sorry for all of the people with the illness of addiction. As a society we have to do better.

Am currently in Tokyo. There are thousands of homeless people in Tokyo too. At first, I couldn't believe it. There are hundred of homeless men who used to own businesses, big company executives, or state owners. But there's something in common, once their business went bunkrupt, their greedy wives left them and took the children, and they were all abandoned by families and relatives!..... Nobody wanted to help! .... So these homeless people have major trust issues, social difficulties, financial battles and psychological and emotional battles and unable to overcome the hearts pain......and eventually return to a normal life.....

I was only ever in Hamburg once, in 2008, so that's before this documentary says homelessness was getting out of control there. Nonetheless, I was almost brought to tears by the number of homeless people I saw while driving through the city. I can't imagine how bad it is there now.

As a person who was homeless twice in the US, I know first the frustration of having a job making nearly $70,000US a year and still was struggling to find affordable housing. By the time the Government finishes taxing the people to death/debt and the high cost of housing in New York, it is no surprise so many people are homeless or partially homeless. I see Germany has similar problems. I am so glad that I retired and I am back in the sunny Caribbean where the cost of living is low, and fresh fruits and vegetables are in abundance; the country is very safe and there are lots of things to do; thank you, Lord.

People entering illegally are transported to a city for free, housed, fed, your kids educated, healthcare provided free, etc. But if you’re American, white, single, not on drugs, not a drinker or smoker, not in trouble with the law, employed full time +, but homeless because it’s impossible to afford even the cheapest housing. So you get to live in your car if you have one, couch surf, get on a waiting list for a dormitory style shelter, or sleep rough.

But there is, partly because some people are paying the price for living beyond their means and taking their futures too lightly. High taxes ironically benefit the rich in the form of stifling attempts by the poor to improve their financial situations.
I am in Saudi Arabia, its area is very large and its population is approximately 40 million, but there is no homeless person and there is no person looking for food. I'm homeless, at 61, a Brit living in Latvia, I have lived this way for over five years and, previously, off grid for 16 yrs.
I decided to embrace the lifestyle when faced with it and, I have to say that i still enjoy all aspects of it. I get zero assistance fromthe state (not that I need it), I liv.e a simple, almost primitive life and see it as an adventure.
Maybe I am lucky that I can have this attitude, but ,it still annoys me when I see the failure of others to help those in need.

I had someone close to me who was murdered and I just left my place,put stuff in storage and outfitted my Kia sportage comfortably and had no issues with anyone, or anything.

I would have to say, if I could find a place to park I'd prefer my car.
More changes happened 3 more deaths and I took over my brothers pet's.
So decided to by an rv and live in it. Just don't let people tell you your value,or anything about you for that matter... with or without what some call normal lifestyle

Oh my god, I am so sorry. I also spent time homeless. I live in Australia, my dad was German. I know that I can't fix this huge problem but I send my love to you and pray you will all be safe in your own home soon. I have had stable accommodation for 5.5 years now but the house is being sold. So I also could become homeless again and I am stressed out to the max. The pandemic has caused our houses to sky rocket and so to are the rents. Long long waiting lists for public housing poverty is growing exponentially. This is a long standing world wide problem and I feel Finland has come up with a fantastic idea. I don't want a hand out just a help up. Love to you all
Very moving documentary. I'm no stranger to being homeless here in the U.S.. I decided it was less expensive to live on the road so I bought a van and roamed the country in it.
I see the commitment to providing housing as a viable solution, but I did not see the effects of mental illness factored into the causes of a person becoming homeless. Among the homeless in the U.S. there seem to be significant mental health issues, and these people may not be able to maintain the structured existence required to have your own place.
My respect for all these people who are currently struggling. Great documentary, thanks .

I think we're paying the wrong people millions of dollars...like actors and athletes. That's BS. Those people have several homes and their shoes cost more than normal people make in one month. Very eye-opening program. I never thought that somebody else would be responsible to provide anything for me, including housing. I always had my goal including joining the top 1% financially, once I achieved it, I set new goals. It is heart breaking to see, but difficult to comprehend and joyful to hear that progress has been made. Anybody who is making these people's lives better, I admire, respect and congratulate you.

Is there a connection? 🤔 “it’s not a money issue, it’s always cheaper to provide permanent solutions, permanent housing” - Juha Kaakinen. Finland seem to have understood the problem and are already implementing solutions.
Germany, US, Canada, England, Japan, etc ALL have a significant increase in homelessness whether it be job loss, drugs, illness expense or whatever the reason. It's a worldwide issue that governments have no solution to the problem. It's really a sad situation in the grand scheme of things.

I live in the USA I'm a 53 year old male with a full time job. I'm one major medical problem from being homeless. It scares the shit out of me. I have work my whole life. But I have made some poor decisions to in the past. We here in the US also have the high cost of renting. You can't find a one bedroom apartment in a safe area without it costing $1000.00 a month. Rent has gotten to be just to high for simple living conditions. Best of luck to everyone facing this. If I ever do end up homeless I would have to take my own life. I'm just to old to sleep on the streets.
Five months in the back of my truck at the end of a horribly hot summer, and beginning of a very rainy winter. My camper shell leaked onto my stuff and I would wake up to wet bedding and clothes. I worked two jobs and still didn't make enough for a place of my own. If it wasn't for a family member buying me a travel trailer to live in, I'd still be in the back of my truck. I'm in my early 50's. Worked my whole life and still wouldn't have enough on my own in a apartment even. Homelessness can happen to anyone at anytime. From one day to the next, be thankful and grateful if you have a roof over your head and a full belly at the end of the night. I only had five months with a blown back in my truck. I can't imagine years of it.
What's the point to work if you can't even buy a property from savings? Gives idea why some people become criminals right?
Buy land. Buy rain water harvesting. Buy solar panels. Buy fruit trees. Build your own house. And only worry about gas bills.

In Germany you need an address to register in the city and to open a bank account. To get a job and a home, you need a bank account. So it’s a loop. If you can register in some friend or relative address you can survive in the car. But everything gets complicated if you are alone.

My family were never rich but at least my parents worked hard to buy a land and built one big house to fit all their 7 kids. They always told us that it will be much difficult for their kids to get their own homes bc everything are getting more expensive and they never wish to see us suffering or become homeless even after their gone. Several years ago I was homeless. I am also physically disabled and I had a service dog, she was a Rottweiler/Siberian Husky mix and a very sweet baby. Even though she was a registered service dog, I still ran into discrimination with housing in California... they actually thought that I was going to give up my baby for housing. I ended up choosing to stay homeless a little longer so that my baby and I would be together. Her name was cinnamon and she did so much for me so I would never had abandoned her! 💜🐕💜

And rightfully so as pets are a public health hazard and landlords are not going to sacrifice the health of other tenant just for the sake of pet-owners (with the exception of the physically disabled) who feel the need to turn that roof into a glorified zoo.

would Not even Call their Garage a Garage.
If they allow people to live in garages, they have to allow owners to rent them out. It becomes legal to rent out a space with no toilets, running water, heating, air circulation. And owners would just take advantage of the poor and rent these spaces out at exhorbitant prices. It does not help anyone to allow this. That's why it's forbiddrn.
It is so sad all over the world that the cost of living is higher than the pay.
Largely because of too many people wanting to live in only the most desirable locales. And government restrictions on housing supply isn't helping matters.

I do feel for the people with furry companions, it’s unbelievable that the state ask them to give them away when such lovely pets have become their faithful companions! They’re their family! Homelles people are everywhr but in Mexic poorness its on another level
It fills me with rage that people with pets struggle a lot more, as if having a pet is a luxury reserved only for the rich! The same problem occurs in the UK. Shelters won’t accept homeless people with pets, so they end up with no shelter and some did die on the street. When I get stuff for the homeless, I don’t only give them human food but dog food as well.
And Germany giving illegal migrants free housing and making mosques in place of churches and giving government benefits whereas their own population is homeless and poor, wow it's a big shame.
It happens when you ignore national intrest over international fake image.

A man i got to meet being homeless to couldnt get emergency shelter in the winter through having a dog which he loved so much he was found dead in a grave yard with his dog lying by his side shivering desperately trying to give him his warmth which was quickly being zapped from the mans cold dead body..

at least in the UK they have the NHS, so you don't have to worry about the cost of medical bills if you're homeless
