You paint a very inhumane picture… how about this, your economic situation in your country is so dire that you struggle to feed your children but you hear of a place where the streets are paved of gold. So you make the heat wrenching decision to leave your family, friends and everything you know behind to pursue the POSSIBILITY (not even a guarantee) of a better life for you and your family. So you risk your life to come through illegally (people die at the border all the time) and make it through. Now you take low paying labor intensive jobs to make money to send back home to support your family who all think you’re living the dream but in actuality you’re living in a one room rental working 10 hrs per day and also live with the fear that at any moment you could get caught by immigration and sent back home. The fear doesn’t even come from you not being able to live here anymore, the fear comes from you no longer being able to provide your family the better life style they’re living back home if you were to get deported. This my friend is when people lack empathy it’s because some politician has gotten you to view immigrants as not being real people. Because tell me if you were lucky enough to have been born in some other country you wouldn’t have done the SAME EXACT thing for your kids or family. None of this is to say that it justifies an illegal act but let’s not be hypocrites in the process

    • @jeanniep1003
      @jeanniep1003 2 месяца назад

First, there’s not enough illegal immigrants completing a census form every ten years to vastly change congressional districts, that argument in theory is true, but it’s not reality. Second, if we accept the hypothetical that immigrants greatly change the political landscape, the census is done every 10 years, it’s not like it’s an annual task. Finally, republicans change congressional maps through their gerrymandering efforts for every election cycle, that is a FACT vs their 10-year hypothetical census count!

I think of that as an interesting point and rational point of view. But why is Texas bussing them to NY or other 'blue' states? Are they complicit on this? @einnAnnie Although, I don't believe that adding congressional districts based on population growth is the driving force behind allowing anyone to enter the country illegally, it would be extremely advantagous to the Democratic party. Most elections over the past few decades have come down to very few electoral votes. I think the primary reason for this policy was to do the same thing that Trump did when he took office. To undo all of the major policy changes that Trump had campaigned on. Trump immediately tried to negate all of the progress Obama made during his tenure. If you want to see what a sudden uncontrollable population increase does to a country, you only have to look North to Canada and what effect it has had on the cost of housing, and the cost of living for all of its citizens.

The one thing that never changes in our country, however: at the end of the day, it's all just a power play from the ruling class with a lot of collateral damage. We as voters need to actually inform ourselves and also demand transparency and accountability from our representatives. Until we hold ourselves accountable to this standard, the cycle will just continue.

Because the system worked before and still works. Like the statistics on the chances someone was able to vote without registration in the presidential election was literally in three digits, which is extremely small when about 150+ million people voted. Trump created mistrust in the voting system so he can win, which is why Trump claimed voter fraud in 2016, 2020, and 2024. Despite him winning in 2016 and 2024.

@allenliu8820 There's definitely weird things that make it easier to believe that there might be fraud that they should address if they don't want people to take voter fraud claims seriously.
Most states count their votes completely by a few hours after the polls close. But then the swing states are counting all night and morning. And California and Alaska take a week.
Then there's computerized voting machines, which take longer to count, have errors every election, and don't leave paper records.
Then there's a few states that always have a massive jump in votes for democrats at 3am from mail in ballots. It happened in 2024, too, in Wisconsin and New Mexico, just not enough for Trump to lose. In 2020, they explained it as democrats using mail in ballots more than Republicans, but in this election, mail in ballots were split evenly. But there was still that 3am spike for democrats.
Also, Democrats used to claim election fraud when they lost, too. They complained about voting machines in 2000.
If there's an explanation, why deflect from answering?

As an immigrant, I'm wondering what this gentleman is smoking saying "the only way to come in is to go to the border and seek asylum". I came here for school, then worked, then got green card, like 100s of thousands of people every year. And I don't even hate my home country at all or had any issue back home so that I had to seek asylum. It's incredibly dishonest to frame it so dramatically, ignoring 100s of thousands of people getting in legitimately every year.
To me the experience was simple: It's just that I got to do what I needed to do, and I contributed to the American society and I was given a chance after stated my reasons, rightfully so. I didn't even have to get my green card through marriage with my American spouse. If you have legitimate reasons to be here, aka you are a prospect of becoming a contributing member of this society, you have more than enough ways to get in. However we design this process with empathy and intelligence, it should probably be a bit harder than just turning up at the border.

I qualify for it, but they denied me because they said it it’s based on necessity meaning the people most in need which people don’t have jobs that are welfare come first and I know for sure that our system is getting overwhelmed by illegals because I work at a Hispanic grocery store and I am Hispanic, so people in my neighborhood in my workplace I go based on what I see and I see what people pay with mostly EBT card. They don’t know the language coworkers that I have. Don’t have any children yet they get government assistance so I’m haven’t been here that long and theycould already vote already yet. I don’t qualify for any help because they say I make too much and I only make $18 an hour so whatever the audience wants to assume and everything just go by based on what you see if you go to the financial aid office, you could get a package, which tells you it doesn’t matter if you don’t have no legal documents you still qualify for assistance and I think it’s affecting my neighborhood because we never gonna upgrade the things we have here because the people that come here they’re coming from poverty this is the upgrade

Your guests share a common fallacy, they all make the immigration issue such a complicated problem that it can never be solved, even experts, media and professional politicians cannot solve. The experts, the media and the professional politicians must keep it unsolvable, otherwise they will lose their jobs, so, they abandoned common sense. The Immigration issue is not that complicated. We are not the 13 colonies, we are a nation-state, and when we lose control of the border, we are no longer a nation.
    - If the demographics shows our nation is aging, work on incentives to create more babies.
    - If we need more farm workers, increase the quota for work permits.
    - If we need more engineers, increase the quota for H-1B visas.
    - If Americans become too lazy to work, work on education.
    - If Americans work force has lost the skill sets for hi tech jobs, work on training programs.
    - If Democrats and Republicans use brainwashing techniques to alter our attitude toward immigrants, tell them to stop.
    - If our government feeds us with false information, demand the truth.
I am an immigrant waited for 10 years for my green card in my old country so that I can come here legally. I don’t regret for waiting. I love America, America is a great country, perhaps the greatest country, and Americans have big hearts.

As a resident of the borderlands along the Mexican border in the mountains of the Sonoran Desert, the situation here is insane in the extreme. Those of living here and the Border Patrol are the meat in this sandwich. The unwillingness of the Congress to institute a cogent immigration AND border policy so as to use scapegoating as a political whip has resulted in continuing deaths along our border; an unprecedented number of migrants swarming the border; the proliferation of vigilante militia violence in a miasma of fear-based hate against migrants. Our current situation is imbecilic and absurd in the extreme. The bill that Trump harpooned would have begun to institute the controls needed. What had been primarily Mexican and Central American migrants has now become a potpourri of Asians (primarily Chinese and Indians), South Africans and others who cross the line, sit down and await arrest to claim asylum. The libertarian last interviewed and the man preceding him presented the most cogent descriptions of the situation I have heard. Sadly, with the election of Trump whose modus is fear-mongering and to feed nativist paranoia, the pending wholesale deportations are an economic disaster waiting to happen. Until rational players in the Congress establish proper reforms and funding for addition of asylum judges to close the time gap on adjudicating asylum cases; for detention and deportation of those not qualifying; and for institution of reasonable legal means of migration reform making legal immigration available, we will have nothing but greater human tragedies along the border.

Now, we must somehow manage mass deportations at great expense, or better yet, we have to admit that we are the reason it is such a mess, which is due to the public's lack of interest until an election year. Our own proverbial kicking the can down the road has run out of road, so now we must have a complete reform and a serious effort to fix this problem, not to make a knee-jerk reaction to kick everyone out but instead, look at what is achievable. People are not being "admitted" at the border. A person of your education and experience should now better than to say such a thing. See 8 USC §1101 13A which defines admission- it requires a lawful entry. Therefore, CBP is not "accepting and admitting eveyone" like you allege at min 6 to report to ICE later. The word 'admission" requires a lawful entry sunject to inspection. Border patrol serves Notices to Appear in Immigration Court for those who entered to appear and answer to charges of unlawful entry. Words matter. You are a journalist. Use them correctly. The point of this rant is to demonstrate that no one, no matter how much of an expert the individual purports to be - knows what they are talking about with regard to immigration, particularly when, as here, the speaker provides a lot general descriptions and personal anecdotes. So, if you are a citizen and you want to bring your mom, it is about 18ish months from start to finish. But your brother? That's close to 25 years. Work visas depend on any factors, not just what type of job.And work visas don't contemplate permanent immigration. They are to come here and work for a time, but some offer paths to permanent immigration. There are some work visas that are pretty quick to get - just a few months - but others take years. It's a cluster that needs an extreme makeover.

@NJRB23 We do spend our money on taxpayers. Even those who are here without proper documentation are taxpayers. They pay sales tax at our stores and payroll tax from their paychecks. They pay tolls for driving on highways and gas tax on the fuel they buy for their cars. They pay motor vehicle taxes on license plates for the trucks they drive to do the hard work that white people won't. Children are raped every day by people who are native born citizens at much higher rates than the same crime committed by immigrants. The problem is that a simple majority of US voters, who are all US citizens, are either racists and bigots or are ok with those who are. We as a nation are not as good a people as we thought we were. We as a nation are ok hurting someone else, as long as it's not someone we know. We, as a people, chose to put our own interests and comfort ahead of the basic needs of others. That is far from the message of any organized faith or moral code. Being so selfish and greedy that we are willing to believe lies and stereotypes about hard-working people in our country is more than just racist and bigoted. It is un-American. But it is who "we" are as a people.
Those taxes paid by undocumented immigrants pay for services and programs that they will never use because they are not eligible as non-citizens. The brown people you are so upset about not only do5 the work that white people won't, they pay for services white people use. Essentially, they are bankrolling this country and getting nothing out of the deal other than low wages and hate from others. Nope, this is who "we" are as a country. This election is hopefully our "rock bottom." Hundreds of thousands of police officers chose to vote for a convicted felon instead of an accomplished prosecutor. That's about as rock bottom as it gets. Millions of people said that women who have been raped have less value. Our country elected a male serial sexual predator over a female prosecutor. Make that make sense! I'll wait. Go look in the mirror. Are DJT's policies reflective of who YOU are, what YOU believe is right? I hope we as a nation get our cheap gas and affordable groceries. I hope we as a country enjoy them, and can stomach that each bite we take harmed others in the process.
Our country elected the leader it deserves right now. We deserve Trump, and the bare ugliness he and his crew of perverts, sycophants, enablers, and thieves.

No. We don't deserve to import the third world because our grandparents made bad decisions.

@NJRB23 undocumented migrants pay approximately $96 billion in taxes yearly (source: IRS.gov) for which they receive virtually no benefits. That doesn't include state income taxes, local taxes, sales tax, etc. This is tax revenue that would need to be collected from others. What is your suggestion? Should we tax the working class more? Perhaps the upper-middle class, the top 1% of earners? Perhaps corporations should pay their fair share. It might be worth discussing this with Dear Leader before we go forward with any kind of immigration policy. The problem is that Mango Mussolini's math isn't mathing. Much like his concepts of a healthcare plan, his concepts of a plan regarding economic and immigration policies are not actually possible. He cannot imagine the idea that we live in a world economy. Its one of the major problems with electing an 80 y/o man who has a limited and uninformed view of the world to be president.
