My friend, you are doing something truly unique. Regularly livestreaming [literally and figuratively] the consciousness of America back to itself. Thank you very much for what you do.
@JoshJohnsonComedy No one ever seems to remark so I am going to; Thank you for having a sign language interpreter signing at your live shows. For the disabled this is such a huge gift and opens up the world of standup comedy to so many more to enjoy. Your mother did a fine job of raising her son and I'm sure many viewers wish they had a son as amazing as you. May the new year bless you and all your loved ones 🙏🕊️✌️
Yeah...I dont know what to tell you but.... EVERY rich businessperson ideally wants indentured servants that sleep in the cellar and can be whipped. Wether they grew up in west-german public school or british elite boarding college.... Those whose life experience is ordering folks around and paying wages? Want to pay less and be obeyed more.
I lived in SA (Pretoria East actually - every near to where Elon grew up) in the late 1990s and then a few years ago. Played rugby against Pretoria Boys too a few times. As a former SA private boys school kid who partied and played rugby with Afrikaners every weekend - you have to understand that this guy has never been been exposed to anything else but servants if you are looking for some kind of empathy there for some kind of just world.
Not just grew up in, his family capitalized heavily on it. Hes essential teh son of slave owners in a different country telling Americans how the country should be run. The dichotomy between Elon and Obama is hilarious and horrible.
They are the only ones with the means to do anything, but the least inclination to do so. All we do is lift tiki torches and sit in circles banging on drums. Hasn't worked since the 60s.
Completely untrue! Black people get away with murder in America, they are given everything for free, given passes when they break laws, etc. They don’t try to better themselves because the scams that they run keep working. All of this racism and many other cultural problems in America are because of the Rothschilds/Israel influence being pushed on us from a very young age. AIPAC owns over 90% of seats in congress and most DA’s , judges, etc. They are what causes us division, not whites being racist. Whites are the only people on earth that aren’t racist, although that is changing now that everyone is figuring out the truth. Whites have never been loyal to their kind like every other race is. KKK - Jews started btw, do your research
Great conversation. I work in tech and have seen both sides of the H1B issue. I have had a lot of great coworkers that were here because of H1B, and I have seen a lot of US citizen workers laid off because they cost too much, then replaced with lower cost H1B workers that can be pressured to work more for less. It’s almost like the H1B isn’t the problem. It’s the companies abusing the system to exploit workers for their bottom line. H1Bs are ostensibly to be used when companies “can’t find workers with the right skills”. How it’s used in practice is “we can’t find the right skills for the below market rate we want to pay.”
Or a company will make it very hard to apply for the position, or include required skills that are totally bogus. I've seen places hiring for jobs in Texas that run an add in the newspaper in a small town in Iowa, requiring you to apply via mail or fax. Or another company that included the ability to repair a certain model of printer from 20 years ago on every job posting, regardless of type of position (Software Engineer, General IT, Project Manager, etc)... And posted said job postings to a site that listed the job details in a 1" tall scrolling text box with 6pt font.
@@jonathonsmith9415 This is why any numbers regarding job creation or job openings should be viewed with extreme skepticism. Those numbers include online job postings never intended to be filled so long as there is a job the company *could* fill so they get to look like they're searching high and low for talent.
The issue could be resolved by simply respecting a proper minimum wage for the position. If entry for an American hire is $25/h, for example, then entry for the H1B hire should also be $25/h. Any imbalance is going to cause problems, as we are seeing, so something needs to be done.
I love the two levels: if you are young you just hear the African part and it's funny, and if you are old, you remember Afrikaners are the racist Dutch colonizers that owned all the land and resources and kept black South Africans segregated and getting lower quality services, if at all, despite being the majority. And, on top of it all, when the whole world was shouting at them, desegregate or you will never do business outside your country again and the South Afrikaners were just like Musk: lost in their own egos and self-righteousness.
Its insane how he just drops high quality specials for free every few days like its a thing people actually do. Most comedians got 5 specials at most over a 20 year span. Your killing it man, and im just happy to be along for the ride.
And the crazy thing American has been dealing with that more than a century and that’s why the country is in this position It is currently in due to businessman!!!! not having the best interest of the people no matter what the color was!!!!!
To be fair, he's been doing comedy for years. Yes, Josh's got raw talent, but don't discount all his efforts, the hours studying, the improv classes, working with others, etc etc it takes work to make it seem easy.
@@a.m.gnovember151 So true. I stopped even watching stand up for a lot of years because I got so sick of people punching down. Took a while before I started seeing clips of people who speak any truth to power. And not only does he punch up, but he still has empathy for every party involved.
ASL interpreter for a comedy show is crazy to me, because so much in comedy comes from the delivery. It makes me wonder how a comedy ASL interpreter communicates the humorous delivery. He looks enthusiastic in the bit I saw him, but it makes me curious.
Gianmarco Soresi has an asl interpreter more often than other comedians I have seen, and his interpreters are always great if you are interested in comedy ASL interpreters. His comedy isn't for everyone but his crowd work is great.
@@vivil2533 ASL has it's own inflections the same way spoken English does! It comes across more in signing during songs/concerts: saw a Pearl Jam concert once where they had an ASL interpreter signing along the entire time and she was having so much fun. Visually it looked like she was conducting an orchestra. A college friend's sister was an interpreter for decades before having to retire with carpel tunnel syndrome; conveying verbal inflection is a lot more physically nuanced than "textbook" ASL in the same way conversational Japanese is vastly different than textbook. It might sound like you're saying less but once you get the inflections down (hard for anyone not raised with a primary language that's less tonally nuanced, but not impossible) you can get stuff across a lot easier.

"Donald Trump sends his son to Greenland to negotiate its purchase" is a title Fox News, The Onion, and The Guardian could all run at the same time and completely engage their readers.
Trump is also openly floating the idea of invading Canada and making it a US stage, and seizing the Panama canal. Meanwhile Elon is talking about liberating Britain. Bad times ahead.
I love how you talked about you know a hurting person when you see one....and I totally agree! Elon Musk couldn't possibly make enough money to fill the chasm that is the hole in his 'heart' - ever. He will never ever get it.
Absolutely. I saw the minute he went on Joe Rogan the very first time the ego switch. He saw the normal dudes were interested in what he did, he was probably tired of the weight of the responsibilities and dealing with the regulation authorities so he began to act up and a certain crowd responded a certain way so he went all in on trying to seem like "I'm cool guys I'm totally into what you're saying" and basically is who ego combined with whatever that massive sinkhole in his heart is morphed into the Elon we now know. Pre 2019 Rogan interview Elon and Post interview are two totally different people. The new one you can blatantly tell is trying to just cram a void full of the acknowledgement and acceptance he never got up till this point even after all he had accomplished.
@fortheloveofdog5622 That's the autism and the masking they do. It's wearing him out and aging him immensely. In the same manner our POTUS's look completely different after 4-8 years of "trying" to run a country. 😢😢
George Carlin and John Stewart started to educate us intelligently with comedy, but I don't think the world has caught on that Josh has taken his gifts of intelligence, compassion and comedic genius to a Jedi level of educating people while making them laugh. The Cherry story to MAGA slow burn transition was epic.
Laughter is the best medicine, and this old white hippie can't make it through a day of 2025 without a hit of Josh Johnson's wit. Josh, help us make it through these trying times!✌🖖
Thank you Josh for a terrific show in Portland, and thanks to the Helium club for providing interpreters for our deaf friend. It was an amazing evening and it was her first live standup show. Told her she couldn't have seen a better one. You are an amazing person!

When I first noticed the interpreter I was like woah, Wow! Then I thought about people just like your friend, and I’m happy they got to experience this show with everyone else.
_YES!_ I know _exactly_ what you mean, because I posted the same thing a couple videos ago! There's gotta be a Mark Twain account; let's find and post to it!🎉
Wonder if they will ever recognize Josh’s RUclips sets as mainstream enough. They’re better and getting more views than lots of Netflix specials but who knows if they will give the awards he deserves
You’re so right. It’s like when a new product comes out that makes the older one look obsolete, that’s what this feels like. Just another level altogether. GOAT!
Ive been saying it for quite some time - Josh is on track to become this generation's Carlin. His style, pacing and comedic timing are still not as keenly developed as Carlin at his best, and the result is a lull and loss of interest in small pockets of his act. But thats simply a question of time and experience. The pace at which he develops new, topical material is truly amazing, and is a sign of genuine comedic (and social commentary) genius. I suspect that one reason for the "lulls" is that he is still refining the script, and doesnt know which parts will land and which can be dropped. In any case, as a geezer who grew up with George Carlin (as in, back to the Carson era), I cant wait to watch Josh evolve in the same way.
Sometimes I want to see a comedy show and talk about current events and nobody is down. So I'm paying for my ticket, because I didn't have to go alone...in fact I didn't even have to leave home! (And the comments section is like being with an audience so it's 😘)
Josh Johnson is the true American. He breaks it all down. I'm a Black American woman in tech, and he gets it and understands, more than my own professors about the social breakdown of it ❤️🌹🌹🌹🌹❤️ Ty. We're gonna be ok... We got a laugh a lot of this stuff off in these 4 years.

Well Americans are about to find out With Putin telling him exactly what he needs to do to treat the constitution like a piece of toilet paper so he can stay in power, Trump is gonna do everything in his will power..... We all know he's at least gonna try

My father worked at Toshiba on a H1B visa for over 30% under market rate as an engineer for damn near a decade. In retrospect I understand why he was always so easily upset.
Yes, but when I looked up the median income of India, I realized that as a software engineer making (on the low end) $100k, I could easily afford to send $500/mo to my parents, which is above the median income. He was making an insane amount of money. I wish I could afford to send my parents $2.5k a month.
@@bathtub_marmot I don't understand the "But". The visa workers get underpaid. The fact that in their home countries they would earn even less doesn't make the situation better, it makes it worse on a global level.
@@joachimschoderOk, then you’re essentially advocating that the work of the post industrial labor movement should be discarded to lower the quality of life in America in order to remain competitive in a global society. Agree to disagree.
The way he walks the line between pointless meandering and important part of the story is insane. Most comedians would’ve lost the audience 10 times over but he keeps them hooked. Everyone there knows something good is always just a few words away.
It's brilliant because it ropes you in because you are trying to figure out where it is going. You're focusing on every word. The cherry on top is that he never misses when it comes to the punchline.
Offered statistics, an international viewpoint, explained how Musk and Trump are bickering with each other at times and the gop other times... Useless meandering huh. Just admit you didn't listen.
The Department of Government Efficiency is itself the most inefficient, because it is a duplicate agency (Department of Government Accountability exists) and DOGE has TWO directors which is itself the opposite of efficient. It’s a huge joke on all of us.
Trump is not in office. These grown men are playing make-believe. It is ultimate cosplay. The KKK aka MAGA will never accept immigrants. No matter how rich they not the "right kind of white".
Watching from Nigeria, I was confused for weeks about DOGE. Because I'm almost certain there's a crypto coin with the same name 🤣🤣. It doesn't help that DOGE is where they put Musk😂😂.
Thanks Josh! I think your comedy, quick witt, and understanding of this period in America, is going to help get me through this next 4 years with laughter. Thanks again.
Rural person representing, thanks for the shout out! I'm on my town's water committee and we know exactly where our water comes from, how it's processed and how it gets into and out of our houses in our small village. I laughed, appreciate you!
That part of the act is such an important observation because attitudes towards and between rural city people especially when represented in politics can just straight up kill any chance of winning over significant populations. A lot of online political commentators on the left will rail against racism and then in the next breath be aggressively classist against rural populations. It’s actually fucking insane.
I hear ya! I live in a rural farming area, about 90 miles s/w of Chicago. My nearest neighbor is miles of corn and soybeans away. A coworker of mine didn't believe that there's coyotes, in Illinois. I told him "Man, you have to get out of the city, more often." At any time of the day or night, I can look out any window and see a variety of wild animals. Coyotes, foxes, pheasant, deer, groundhogs, buzzards, hawks, an occasional eagle, and somewhat more rare, we even see a wolf or two. People really need to get back in touch with nature. Way too many people still think that chocolate milk comes from brown cows. 😂 I'd also like to mention the surprised look on city-dweller's faces, when they come through here, break down, and people stop to help them. A lot of them think that they're about to get robbed. 😂 Nope, it's just a small town, where people still look out for each other.
@@solidaritytime3650 NYC water is actually very good. It comes from the Catskills. If you have good water right from your taps you get spoiled. Living for a while somewhere with hard water was a wake up call, and even "good" and "clean" hard water is better than lots of places have.
I guess . . . I mean, it's a hilarious story about moderately famous people eviscerating each other while accidentally being honest about stuff they've been publicly denying for years. The jokes don't completely write themselves, but it's close. I actually think that Josh's ability to recognize this is what makes him a genius. Interesting comment.
@@snowmonster42 With respect, jokes and humourous stories do not 'just write themselves' and to suggest otherwise, particularly in reference to this chap's gifts, is an injustice. (And I assert this as a publisher author and cartoonist.) Cheers
@kesart8378 I wanted to edit my comment, but I couldn't find it again. I wrote this about halfway through just before he started the second story. Linking two apparently dissimilar stories such as those is definitely not easy. It was totally unexpected and extraordinarily subtle. Not easy. I still say that the Elon jokes write themselves, but maybe I have a flair for this kind straight man satire. Not at the level of Josh Johnson or John Oliver or any of the other Daily Show people, of course, but still, some talent. I don't have any talent for fiction either. The truth is always funniest. And to be clear, I could never be a cartoonist. I'm not visually creative at all and I'm so terrible at the New Yorker's caption contest that it's embarrassing. Thanks for not giving me the dressing down I deserved.
John Oliver has this ability... but he also has the ability to teach me something I KNEW NOTHING ABOUT that gives me the "I don't want to live on this planet anymore" vibes 😂❤
@@Secret_Takodachidont put him on too high of a pedestal though. He's not a very nice person. As long as he's rich to afford healthcare, he's not that keen for it for Americans
I sometimes think that these people are driven to strive for wealth and power because they feel like that's the only way people will ever like and respect them, but then the way they behave to get there actually alienates them.
To a point, sure. After a while though it's just unrelenting greed. You can make $10m and disappear off to a happy private life. You don't need to have $400 BILLION and still work multiple jobs. There's absolutely no reason one single man should be wealthier than entire nations, and taking on MORE work.
I remember one time this rich guy helped me out with a problem I was having… wait, wait! That’s NEVER happened! Expecting their greed to ever benefit us is like watching sh!t and hoping it’ll roll uphill. Anyway, Josh Johnson is the best and I’m so happy to see his ascension to the pantheon of greats. Happy JOSHDAY everybody!
I literally started a business with a rich friend who then subsequently faked or didn’t do any of the work he was supposed to do and that tanked the company. He didn’t care because the loss was not big for him, but it set me back years financially.
I agree but I have an exception to share. I was in line trying to get food and my card was getting declined. This rich guy behind me payed for it, and then talked to me the whole time I was there… it was Andre 3000
My husband is a Black American. Senior Engineer and trainer and I hear him arguing with engineers from India and other countries all the time. He says they don't check their work and they rush products through a product malfunctions then he has to make them correct the problem. My husband has 25 years of experience.
I believe it. The shoddiness is epidemic. It's cultural depending on the product. American and German companies used to have work cultures where you took pride in your craftsmanship and quality. It was a way of showing your love for your fellow man. Some companies still practice those values. However, the love of my money is undermining that.

We already have a black is true story. It happened to me with a modeling job. I was told in the audition interview and I quote “we already have one of you” . This was a well known modeling agency back in the day. And things haven’t changed after 30 years ago with this thought process.
I was told the same thing as a white person when applying for construction and hard labor jobs 😂 it’s tough for everyone. The best way to get a job is because you know someone or a referral. People will hire a less skilled worker they know than a high skilled worker they don’t. Job market sucks.
My story in New York city, a famous modeling agency told me, my lips were too big, while in high school, I was teased for having too thin lips for a black girl. True story. I go back 40+ years.
Wow. I actually cried to my mom about this a few days ago. I graduated with my bachelors degree, graduated manga cum laude, have multiple awards, worked in hospitality for 9 years, won awards, became a manager, I had to leave that job due to personal reasons but now that my family affairs are handled I am looking to go back to work. I’ve been applying since November, I’ve been on multiple interviews (all seemed promising and went well) but I can’t get hired. I’m so confused because they always seemed impressed with my experience and knowledge and education and yet I’m not getting called back. I cried to my mom and asked what is wrong with me and she said “there is absolutely nothing wrong with you, society is the problem. These companies are hiring their relatives who don’t even have the same qualifications as you and are usually dumb as hell”. And here you are reconfirming this 😮💨
It's my understanding these companies aren't hiring at all. They waste everyone's time gathering lists of potential replacement candidates, maybe to check what the labor market is doing. It's quite a mystery what these people are doing gathering all this personal data. Hope they aren't supplementing income selling personal data to weasels. Because that would be evil.
The Owners don't want good workers, they don't want problem solvers. They want dogs and calculators. They want to keep it in the family. I went to college.. I've been hanging blinds for over 10 years, 10 hours 6 days a week, and I can barely keep a place to live. I've been doing this so long that it feels like a different person when I think about all of my academic achievements. Society wants me down here, I've tried to dig my way out. There's no room for me in this country anymore. I'm better off thinking I'm a double digit IQ moron that deserves to be here. Remember that it's not you, the world has become so shallow and greedy that intelligence and integrity are pushed to the side in favor of short term gains.

I don’t know the guy, but he seems like a genuinely sweet and thoughtful person. I’d like to watch him and Henry Winkler go fishing, I think it might be pharmaceutical-grade wholesome.
I’d rather be genuine than be cool. Being cool is worthless. It’s just validation from the general public which can and will usually be taken away with time. People who were cool back in the day are seen as cringe or creepy now. Popularity will always be audience capture with extra steps. You lose your agency and consent to how you want to live your life. No thanks.
@@redstealth9683 idk how to put this nicely, but thinking that coolness and genuineness are mutually exclusive is not very cool of you! the coolest people i know are cool to me /because/ theyre genuine and live in their truth without shame, not because i see other people call them cool lol. but then again, ive had people call me cool specifically because i dont care if other people think me or my interests are cringe, so what do i know about being cool, really

This is how I feel too - he’s so empty…just a shell of misery. You have EVERY option money can buy but you still can’t work out how to experience joy, love, connection. I would pity him, but he is so devoid of conscience and compassion that I just can’t waste the energy.
I'm right there with you. Anyone else in Elon's position would get sympathy from me, but there's no point in giving anything to what is essentially just an emotional black hole of a man that would spaghettify any attempts at connecting. Truly, I think you would be hard pressed to find someone who better exemplifies "money can't buy happiness" than Elon Musk. It's a dumb saying that I hate because it's usually used to keep us poors from getting too uppity, but there's clearly a point in wealth where it starts to apply.
It's wild. Here's a guy who used his PR machine to craft an image of himself as a real life version of a comic book hero and most of us bought it. It seems like he achieved what he was seeking and had the admiration of millions of people from all around the world. And somehow it still was not enough.
I know, I’m glad to see that there are those of us who can have sympathy without excusing the behavior. Like, imagine being so empty that you try to amuse yourself by making countries turn on their most vulnerable people.
To me, Elon is Dr. Robotnik from the Sonic universe. I guess some Sonic fans have developed an unhealthy love of Robotnik but I played the first 3 video games as a kid & teenager and in those, Robotnik's nihilism (as well as his obsession with conquering space) was so obvious. It's legally required, when requested, but still... Yay that they followed the laws & did actually provide an interpreter! (That doesn't always happen... 😬)
@Mehki227 Nope! That's illegal. And I'm talking at the Federal level, too. They must provide interpreter/s when your husband requests it from them. Every time. They can be sued for not having provided *qualified interpreter/s for him already. And if your state has licensure, 'qualified' means licensed AND with the appropriate level of licensure to interpret live stage performances. So, yes, your local comedy place DOES provide qualified interpreter/s upon request... by federal (& state?) laws, if they're following them... They just may not know it... yet. Do you need more info?

To reinforce what you're saying, he did a 15 minute bit about a STRIP CLUB, and didn't objectify women or be crude or derogatory... that would have been so easy to do in his position. I used to work as a bouncer at a strip club, and people can be so horrible to the women that worked there. Gas can be anywhere from 3-8 dollars depending on the state, we have to pay tuition for public colleges and that’s a lot of money, and Americans are usually straddled with a lot of debt. It also sucks that jobs pay fuck all over here too. I work at a place that pays nicely for my age, but I’d worked a job that paid below minimum wage for a year. Considering how the next few years will go for the richest of the rich, juxtaposed by everyone else (I’m in that group), the money you need to live a comfortable life is much, MUCH higher than I care for. Not to mention, you’re constantly overworked with bosses that do not give a piss about you.
@@RaaBaeWe have basically no public transit so everyone has to have a car and drive it everywhere. Ten grand a year in just maintenance for that shit.
I worked at a tech company in the late 90s/early aughts, just a couple of blocks away from MIT in Cambridge. When I started, it was all white guys making 6 figure salaries. By the time I was laid off, they were being replaced by H1-B Indian men making 5 figure salaries.
Its the same right now in Silicone Valley, look at the demographic statistics for every major company’s tech department. The worst part of H1B visas for me is that the business loses all incentive to hire Americans, and the culture shifts where literally people are only hiring others from their own country, speaking a foreign language in meetings, enforcing their own social customs even if they go against the company's values (say an asian senior eng who believes their opinion is more important than a juniors because theyre the elder, or expecting the juniors to speak softly or show deference again simply due to seniority), playing foreign games in happy hours and generally excluding the Americans. Ive even noticed elements of socialist mindset play out in how promotions and accolades are doled out in these H1B visa majority orgs - its fascinating. Ive seen it happen repeatedly and spoke to many American engs (many who could be ethnically the same as the H1B visa hires but have very little in common with them culturally and so also get bullied) who feel left out and confused when theyre suddenly transported to another country and expected to follow its cultural rules. Its a serious issue imo.
1:50 Wanna talk about why billionaires like H1-B visas? They can make a doctor from another country like China or India perform $200,000 - $250,000 worth of work for $50,000, while they are working on their US credentials (residents). This is also why hospitals and insurance plans (United Healthcare) like "Fellowship Programs"...this extends the amount of time that these doctors remain non-board-certified and are paid at one-fifth the rate of what a fully licensed and board-certified doctor earns.
The cost of living outside of America is far lower, tho so it kinda balances out in the end $100 isn't a lot to someone in the US, yet in my home country, it can buy me close to a months worth of food
These doctors have done the residency programs in their home countries. They are qualified but they need board certifications in the US while earning very little. And the cost of living bit is not true. The cost to become a doctor in India is close to a crore, say 120k$ which when you look at the average incomes of India, is very high
Before the qualify, yes@@rantsallegedly. Read the original comment again: these are fully qualified doctors being held in low paying training positions just to get the same work at a lower price. Not fresh grads, qualified and experienced professionals

It can be even deeper. Not only Musk is a stripper in this metaphor, but MAGA people are political virgins. MAGA is basically baby's first political movement, which would be cute if not for the consequences
Musk's entire rise to spotlight was him attempting to buy into cool. From buying the CEO position in Tesla, to Twitter to SpaceX. His whole persona is PR crafted. It's why his actual personality clashing with his carefully crafted image and being dismantled by MAGA's who ate up his PR persona up like breakfast, is so satisfying to watch.
See, I feel like Bill Gates is a more well adjusted billionaire. He never seemed to be concerned with anyone thinking he was cool. Then you have musky and even bezos who seem desperate to look cool. Meanwhile Gates is over here with Buffet saying "Why are these guys acting like teenagers with too much money?"

Josh is such a spellbinding storytelling that I don't see it coming either. I have watched Josh enough to know he can sand will see the connections between all the threads. How did he get so smart. I think it's concentration. I've been listening to Josh, to lots of RUclips podcasts aimed at physical fitness, particularly, Will Harlow, MSc, MCSP, Cert. MA who wrote "Thriving Beyond Fifty" and hosts the most engaging You Tube Channel HT-Physio, whereby I have turned around a 3 year depression, fitness decline, to regain most of 30 pounds lost, strength and muscle regained, and learning that at 73 my sciatica and weakness require action and not rest, I probably am very arthritic, but forging head works, nutrition food and cooking experts, sleep, music interviews by Rick Beato, started doing Transcendental Meditation again, generally I've immersed myself in "experts" Josh, who, JUST LIKE JOSH, PERSERVERE and SUCCEED. "Said all this to say" I feel smarter since this past 8 months! I just reheard the "since I wasn't used to being 'hit on' so I thought it was a spider! " How loveable is that?! ❤
😂I’m 66 and I agree with you 110% and if I was a young lady again I’d pick him all day and twice on sunday I love him too. He’s got a very endearing quality to his character ❤
The points he starts making around 11:00 are so legit. I've said before, Musk and Trump are both proof that money can't buy happiness. They answer the question, "What if daddy gave you loads of startup capital but never any hugs?" On a human level, it's hard not to pity them. Doesn't excuse any of their behaviors, but they really are tragic characters.
They're narcissists. Narcissists can't be happy, they're happiness is determined on other people and how those people treat them. It just so happens that these particular narcissists have a lot of money and that means they can spend more to feed their ego.
Theyre real life Ebenezer Scrooges. Scrooges was so envious of lil Timmy's family christmas party ... cannot buy your way to a cool party youre not invited to
Isn't he so fortunate to have an audience that responds well to his smarmy false sincerity lectures. He uses his wit to scold the system that allowed him to find a stage to lecture from.
@@canadaman3 Right? "The system that allowed him to find a stage" just reeks of how bigots act whenever athletes protest. Not even sure what system he's talking about, since Josh never mentioned one. Might just be one of Elon's burner accounts attacking anyone who criticizes him.
As someone who lived in rural and urban areas over my lifetime Josh's observations are dead on. "Water comes from a bottle?" There is an arrogance too many from large cities do have towards non-city dwellers.
If you drive through any rural/farming town in the US, you’ll see the stereotypes of those folks are usually more kind than the reality; and then you plan to fly over next time.
True. But there's also an inferiority complex among those who live in rural areas towards those who live in cities. They feel so angry about perceived slights that they will vote against their own interests just to make sure those who can help them, don't.
As someone who had their childhood in the country and a lot of no-frills practicality baked in from being poor both in rural and city environments... it was so deeply alarming when I became an apartment luddite urban farmer guy and saw just how helpless everyone around me is in. I pray a war doesn't break out in this country while I'm living in the city because no one around me would even think to purify water and forage for food. Maybe cannibalism would break out. Maybe that wouldn't be a bad thing 😅🫢
Some people have a myopic view of what city people are like. The “truth” is somewhere in the middle. Many people in big cities, like NYC and LA, are transplants from flyover states, rural areas and other parts of the country and world. They grew up in that rural life and left that life behind for the big city. The city folks that can’t identify where water comes from are the caricatures that represent big city elites. It’s not that they don’t know where water comes from, moreso they don’t need to know. If the apocalypse ever happens, city folks will find a way to fend for themselves. The poor and immigrant city folks will fight and scratch to survive because that’s what they’ve always done, especially the immigrants from rural places in their home countries who know how to live off the land. The transplants will use their skills and “Midwest nice” to help the helpless and hapless. The rest will die off. Survival of the fittest being the end game.
Great set, also to put in full perspective, H1B visa candidates are being paid around $40K per year for jobs that the market pay is $120K+ Senator Sanders just filed an amendment to grant market compensation, empower the worker more through job flexibility (meaning the worker can move to other jobs without losing legal status) and other worker advantageous opportunities. In order to encourage American employment and decrease the corporate abuse.
He's phenomenal at explaining cultural differences in a way people can understand. Best possible way to help bring people together is to help understand each other. When he says people live completely different lives from each other he's not wrong. In an effort to try to get a story out, media will cut out anything they don't deem worthy of a story, and one of the first things is motive. If some crime is committed, they don't include the backstory of how never having a chance led to a string of unsuccessful jobs and eventually desperation, but they sure as hell will include the race of the suspect. So many people have so little clue what that struggle is like, and how much harder you have to work than everyone else to get the same thing, and so they just believe it must be a racial thing. Josh has a gift for putting people in those people's shoes and asking "what would you do in this situation?" to illustrate that we're all human first, and the decisions you'd make are the ones most humans would make.

As a South African myself, Elon grew up in Apartheid... so we shouldn't be surprised that he wants to treat workers like slaves.
His initial plan was for a fully automated tesla plant. He really doesn't have even a bit of respect for employees, he resents them.
This is something not being explore at all by media..... I wonder why...

Vivek talked to white people, the way white people talk to black people, and they lost their shit over it.... That was pure unintentional comedy gold.
Vivek talked to white people the way rich people talk to their underlings. Class problems > race problems
@@Slywinters same difference to the rich ones. Second class citizens. The rich people are treating the underlings like black people.
As an indian , i will say this that this is just a pathetic attempt to be white. But vivek knows deep down, he will never be white.
How do white people talk to black people? Not around me they don’t.
Thank you for the nuance. Vivek and Musk both discussed these issues, but no one listens beyond the headlines.
They don't want to get rid of their free blackmail tactic to treat workers like crap, with deportation the threat held over them.

My father worked at Toshiba on a H1B visa for over 30% under market rate as an engineer for damn near a decade. In retrospect I understand why he was always so easily upset.
My dad too.
Is it because he got payed less then other Americans ?
Yes, but when I looked up the median income of India, I realized that as a software engineer making (on the low end) $100k, I could easily afford to send $500/mo to my parents, which is above the median income. He was making an insane amount of money. I wish I could afford to send my parents $2.5k a month.
@@bathtub_marmot I don't understand the "But". The visa workers get underpaid. The fact that in their home countries they would earn even less doesn't make the situation better, it makes it worse on a global level.

The Department of Government Efficiency is itself the most inefficient, because it is a duplicate agency (Department of Government Accountability exists) and DOGE has TWO directors which is itself the opposite of efficient. It’s a huge joke on all of us.

Rural person representing, thanks for the shout out! I'm on my town's water committee and we know exactly where our water comes from, how it's processed and how it gets into and out of our houses in our small village. I laughed, appreciate you!
That is SO COOL!

I'd also like to mention the surprised look on city-dweller's faces, when they come through here, break down, and people stop to help them. A lot of them think that they're about to get robbed. 😂 Nope, it's just a small town, where people still look out for each other.

We really need Josh’s comedy right now more than ever. Thank you!😅

I believe it. The shoddiness is epidemic. It's cultural depending on the product.
American and German companies used to have work cultures where you took pride in your craftsmanship and quality. It was a way of showing your love for your fellow man.

And here you are reconfirming this 😮💨
I feel your pain hun, i do :(
It's my understanding these companies aren't hiring at all. They waste everyone's time gathering lists of potential replacement candidates, maybe to check what the labor market is doing. It's quite a mystery what these people are doing gathering all this personal data. Hope they aren't supplementing income selling personal data to weasels. Because that would be evil.

I'm right there with you. Anyone else in Elon's position would get sympathy from me, but there's no point in giving anything to what is essentially just an emotional black hole of a man that would spaghettify any attempts at connecting.
He turned Knuckles to his side by promising him shiny gems and superiority over hedgehog- and fox- kind, but in the end he failed. /end of nerd reverie

It's legally required, when requested, but still... Yay that they followed the laws & did actually provide an interpreter! (That doesn't always happen... 😬)

Nope!

And the cost of living bit is not true. The cost to become a doctor in India is close to a crore, say 120k$ which when you look at the average incomes of India, is very high
@@TheTrashMobileGamer No it doesn't. Stop arguing for getting less money.
Before the qualify, yes@@rantsallegedly. Read the original comment again: these are fully qualified doctors being held in low paying training positions just to get the same work at a lower price. Not fresh grads, qualified and experienced professionals
A comedian with a sign language interpreter. that’s special. I hope there’s a camera on him. your deaf community could really grow on RUclips or wherever they watch.
The interpreter is really good at signing with character, too.
You can tell he's taking his time and cares about making the lines funny to watch, not just hear.
Talented guy!
I feel like, at least for youtube, just having well transcribed subtitles would be better, no?
That’s great, but how are they going to hear about it?
I’ll see myself out
Im not deaf but I think it's because it's a different language, signing is a cultural thing and different than just hand subtitles@@jiv3o275
Not necessarily. The Deaf community, depending on schooling and what the individual's home culture is like - reading is not always as taught, and doesn't always give the same depth as properly done Sign @@jiv3o275
"He's just up there dancing."
"Y'all can't keep yourself alive."
Storytelling craft is so on point.
“He’s just up there dancing!”
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!! WOW. Incredible story telling, yet again.
Right? Nailed it!
It can be even deeper. Not only Musk is a stripper in this metaphor, but MAGA people are political virgins. MAGA is basically baby's first political movement, which would be cute if not for the consequences
Exactly what I was thinking! It was like wow that’s deserving of a standing ovation.
He's literally PHONY STARKS. I hate him and have a seething disdain for the kind of people who fawn over him.
💯
See, I feel like Bill Gates is a more well adjusted billionaire. He never seemed to be concerned with anyone thinking he was cool. Then you have musky and even bezos who seem desperate to look cool.
Meanwhile Gates is over here with Buffet saying "Why are these guys acting like teenagers with too much money?"
@@JohnClark-tt2bl Not setting the bar too high I see. 🤣🤣. Mark Cuban is probably the only relatively normal billionaire. Typically normal-ish people stop after the first 100 million or so so that's why we're seeing mostly weirdos with all the money.
@mosschops-u8x what does that mean? Is this a bot?
The connection between the stripper, Elon and magA was phenomenal. Didn’t see it coming
I just reheard the "since I wasn't used to being 'hit on' so I thought it was a
spider! " How loveable
is that?! ❤
I’m a 67 yr old Woman and I believe Ur a Genius Josh! You’re going far young Man! ❤ keep up the Great Work!! ❤️🥰💐
I'm a 62 y.o. ww and Josh is the best comedian I've heard in a very long time! Brilliant young man!
@@JazzyJaz11 62 y.o. wm and I had the exact same thought about him.
me too! 67, retired and white. I just love this guy, he's brilliant.
😂I’m 66 and I agree with you 110% and if I was a young lady again I’d pick him all day and twice on sunday I love him too. He’s got a very endearing quality to his character ❤
@ We might have had a good fight over him back then! 😂😂😂😂❤️💕🌻
I'm South African, & this whole episode is absolutely hillarious. Josh totally slayed this on so many levels.
Scrooges was so envious of lil Timmy's family christmas party ... cannot buy your way to a cool party youre not invited to
Humour is such a good way to deliver harsh truths
And he is so authentic
Isn't he so fortunate to have an audience that responds well to his smarmy false sincerity lectures. He uses his wit to scold the system that allowed him to find a stage to lecture from.
@ lol. So there is no room for criticism of the system? What a horrible mindset. You are basically saying “Shut up and sit down”. What a way to live.
@@canadaman3 Right? "The system that allowed him to find a stage" just reeks of how bigots act whenever athletes protest. Not even sure what system he's talking about, since Josh never mentioned one. Might just be one of Elon's burner accounts attacking anyone who criticizes him.
Thanks!
Josh is the best clean comedian out right now.
Stand up in general.. only Dave tells a better story
He said the first half of... well, they rhyme with "kitties".
Ever.
@@SpicyGary maybe earlier career Dave. Today he tells stories like an unserious televangelist and it is becoming grating to watch.
Didn't they bleep a racial slur in this video?
"But he's just up there dancing"
Brilliant ❤
I dunno, I think that stereotype is reserved for the hedge fund rich types. True educationated people know that water comes from a variety of sources.
What a treat. My son shared this with me tonight. I am howling at 3:30 AM with laughter and rivitted (sp) by this intellectual and cultural genuis

Lol, Josh is so naturally funny. His intellect doesn't hurt either.
Your son should not have a CIA psychological control cellular communication device
Josh please stay healthy, avoid any crossroads deals. We need insights seen through great comedy. You're the best around at doing this
It gets no clearer than that! This is the best analysis of MAGA I've heard.
An 88 year-old English grandma here delighted to find you on RUclips. You help mitigate the misery of the last 2 1/2 months.❤
Brilliant! 😂 Oh, & as a South African, we are strictly adhering to the no-takes-back policy......
Elon kan maar net bly 🤣
😂
This dude stay makin moves, damn. Respect.
Dzokhar, totally agree ❤❤❤
@@DzokharSo you think every single white American has money, education, opportunity and great jobs thrown at them? Have you ever lived in a poor white 'hood? Check them out. The vast majority of whites live in them. You don't see your own racism. Sad.
