i just bought mine, my first gaming laptop! i used a 2014 ideapad one before, lasted 6/7 years. changed to macbook due to school and work, but cant play games on it so this is my second lenovo purchase and i cant wait to receive mine!
Fantastic review. It's on sale down to 1.2k at the moment compared to the lower model Legion Slim 5 14 inch 4060 at 1k so I was debating buying both. My only criticism with laptops is a fan noise test. That would've been the deal breaker in getting this laptop or not. Otherwise you have such a relaxing voice and a very in depth review process with facts about products like the RTX 4070 wattage that I never knew about. You've definitely earned a new subscriber!
did you really? you didnt upgrade the ram or ssd yourself? Im looking for the same with a 4070 and 500 nit display with the 8845HS, is that the one you got?
You are right. They have the Same vram and 128 bit Interface. But difference is getting bigger on higher resolutions (2k+) because the 4070 has more shaders, cudas etc.
It is 15-20% faster depending on the game, but it costs around 40-50% more than the 4060 config whrere I live. So no point of getting this over the 4060 for me personally.
@@tobfon2416 the new Gen 9 config is expensive all around but the Gen 8 one can be had for around 1400 USD (yeah pricing sucks here). The newer one starts at close to 1600 USD for the 4060 config and costs 2000 USD for the 4070 one lol. So technically you can have the 1400 USD one with 4060 and the 4070 one costs almost 600 USD more. Kinda crazy.
Top 5 things I look for in a gaming laptop: 1. How much noise under different performance levels. 2. Good 16:10 screen with high refreshrate. 3. Mid level CPU for less heat and noise. 4-8 cores. 4. Suitable GPU for the screen resolution. 5. Enough ram 32-64 gb and enough storage 1TB+
Wow. This is a the review i was looking for. I'm looking for a gaming laptop but one with good thermals and won't pull too much electricity. I had the Pro 5i gen 8 rtx 4070 but had to return it because the motherboard gave out so i wanted to try something different but not too costly. This is on sale for $1,340 at Lenovo currently
@Chronoless Lenovo and Dell run good sales through their websites all the time. If you watch you can get a decent deal and not have to wait around till Black Friday for retailers to heavily discount. The slim 5 is a nice balance of everything.
Not really, they've only changed the CPU and the slight design changes to the laptop. But nothing worth spending extra over. Do a comparison of the CPU 7740HS and 8845HS. Literally no major difference. I'd suggest just getting last years model and saving your money.
@mihirojha4475 @fork775 I agree 100%. Nothing new that's worth really going for the 14th gen. Get whichever one is cheaper. The 14th gen has a new blue-ish color available. But if you can get 13th gen on a deal with the same GPU go for it and save your money!
@tsunarun Thank you and I'm glad you agree. My point is to tell the story like it is... the good... and the bad. No bad products, just bad (and greedy) pricing.
Really nice review bro, however just my 2 cents, may be keep the keyboard typing test @6:30 for 30 sec instead of 1 full minute of typing. Kinda bust the flow here watching it. Anywho, keep it up! 👍
You know if the rtx4070 version is thicker? The official german website shows that the laptop has a thinner version (1.99cm-2.19cm) and a thicker version (1.99cm-2.52cm). I wonder which configuration makes this change, as I wanted the thinner version.
Oh great question. I didn't know there was a disparity in the mention of weight for this laptop. I would error on the side of caution and say it's 2.3kg.
@@techknowlux Thanks. Is the intel processor issues seen with the 14700hx also? i heard its seen with few of hx processors mostly 14900hx and above. I mean i’m afraid at this point after hearing lot of pc fails. I wanted to go with legion 5i.
Lenovo sells this laptop with 32 gb ram, 1tb ssd and the better screen for 1800 dollars right now (in Sweden) is that a good deal or is the Intel version a better deal
I wanna spend 1200 on a gaming laptop to play dragons dogma 2 don't care about 4k screen but want the performance is this the one to get or does anyone have any better suggestions I'm currently using a legion go and think it's time to get something with more power no desktop only due to wanting the portability
If you’re a student u can get 5% off and there’s a discount code u can use and can get 50 dollars off on ur first purchase on the Lenovo website. I got 173 off my purchase and got the legion slim 5 gen 9 with 7AMD, 36 ram, 1tb storage, and 240 hz display. Pretty much got all the upgrades for free with the discounts
Anyone: Could this drive a dual 4K ultrawide for productivity and movies? Or an 8K TV for productivity with smaller video frames? iRacing at decent level on a G9 57"? I'd not need full resolutiona t mega framerate, just something to save me from having to get a game PC as well. As a rooking with modern stuff, it's hard to get info on basic things, thanks!
I don’t think that it would be satisfactory at those resolutions atleast while gaming usable maybe as for productivity it could probably handle it pretty decently

Where bro???
I don't recommend getting a 4070 because the 4060 comes with 8GB, and both are capped at 140watts. There's little to no difference in performance.

why only 1080p? that laptop is support until 2.5K. and btw how many fps did you get to play motogp 24?

Which one better? Legion slim 5 gen 9 or the Legion 5i i7 14700hx?
The Slim 5 is a bit lighter. The Legion 5i might have a bit better performance but higher heat and heavier since it's the non-slim model.
