This was the first time they played this song and it wa supposed to be an instrumental. But Dianno decided it was not finished yet. He wrote the lyrics and vocal melodies just half an hour before the show started, what a genius!
You know, everyone always talks about EVH, Rhoads, Hendrix, Page, etc., but Dave and Adrian are sooo underrated. Their dual solos are as good as anything out there. And, there are so many solos from so many songs.

I like Bruce, but you really FELT Paul. His vocals are agonizing, but the way he plows through it.. Heavy as fuck. Dare I say like a metal 'Soul' singer. Like the Otis Redding of metal or something. Amazing and underrated
Paul's voice is brilliant for this early stuff. He clashed with Steve Harris, that was the problem. The Iron Maiden town wasn't big enough for the both of them. However, never did Maiden make such spine-tingling, dangerous and spell-binding music as they did when Paul and Steve were together. As for Dave Murray; he's just been genius from the day he joined until today. If he was one of the 60's guitarists like Clapton or Townsend - he'd be considered a genius by all, not just people with taste.
I'd give anything to jump in the Time Machine and travel back to be an audience member to witness the Glory of Maiden. Oh my, Dave and Adrian, oh my god!

as i recall from the maiden dvd, which this is off of, dianno stated that he actually wrote the songs for THIS version in the dressing room. The song already was written and stuff, but he changes a few parts here and there, and that is why these lyrics are different than the album and other concerts. Hopefully that ends the lyric dispute

Since 1990 I've listened Iron Maiden and Metallica, I was that year 6 years old, now 38 years old. I began to listen to Black Sabbath in 1998. Queen came into patterns next year 1991.
I was there. They ended up playing certain songs several times to get them just right for live video being recorded. I remember Prowler and Running Free being played 4 or 5 times, and a couple of epic Phantom of the Operas.

@Bananenbennie No, in an interview they explain that Paul wrote this different lyrics 5 minutes before starting the show. But the song was already complete (with the original lyrics), this live has been recorded after the Album (and Paul also says "the title track from the second album")
These were the original lyrics. This video is from the Rainbow december concert. He didn't wrote the lyrics before this show. They already performed the song with those lyrics at performed at reading, earlier that year, and with stratton on guitar.
One of my first Metal CDs at the age of 15 or 16 was Fear of the Dark, including movs of this and the be quick or be dead clip. Stupid to put this on a Dickinson-CD, but good for me, i was looking for the band bio and the singer and 2 weeks later i had the first 2 Albums on vinyl (which started my vinyl-addiction)
Yes you're right saying that this live was recorded before the studio version, I was wrong :) But I'm sure that they already had the original lyrics, and Paul wrote this "alternative version" 5 minutes before going on stage. Paul himself says this in the Early Days DVD :) Well anyway this is a great version :D I love it!
Paul was untouchable at this time! What a voice and true attitude!
pena q agr ta meio catatonico
muito melhor que o bruce. O paul tem mais alma cantando, sem falar da energia.
Untouchable is correct! Fantastic performance

The lyrics in the video above, is different from the lyrics in killers album. Why is it? Do u know ? Thanks.

YES!! Every bit as good as Tipton and Downing if not better! The changes are sick, and their new stuff just keeps raising the bar.
Dave and Adrian are really tasteful with their soloing, there is never a sense of 'showing off', just playing what is best for the song.
