Barnes is really talented: lead singer with good vocals with passion, stutter rhythm guitar, great lead solos, great stage presence and performance...simply amazing!
Criminally underrated Band….
38 Special is Awesome
The essence of rock in a song
Damn Don Barnes was/is one talented musician! Not many dudes can play and sing lead like that in the same song. It’s a ton of work.
He had to after Carlisi left the band a couple of years before this.
He's playing Jeff Carlisi's original parts, I believe. Sounds great. Great pitch.
@@colico14 and NAILED IT!!!
about 500 bands like the Beatles and such have multiple instrument playing musicians who sing at the same time. The Romantics and the Eagles have drummers who sing lead. What are you talking about? Barnes is a better guitar player than he is a singer but he plays the best guitar when he is not singing. Either way great player, great band, great song.
Why don’t they make music like this anymore 😭
Folks gotten too PC to appreciate this
Because it protects the music industry.
Bands like this don't come around often so if all your signed artists are "B" class, then there will always be talent that is up and coming.
If there were top notch bands signed, it would undermine all the B class bands
That is the pop industry in a nut shell
I miss the good old days
Because they don't know how. . .
Because it takes talent.
Absolutely, but it also takes discipline, drive, chemistry and commitment. I was road crew for a hugely popular regional band in the early 90's and five nights a week we pounded a new city every night. I was fortunate to see amazing song writing in person and witness real chemistry with real players ON THE ROAD as it happened. Magic that would make the hair stand up all over, much like ☝️those guys.
Those were the days when music was awesome. Wish I could go back in time!
Brother is getting it on guitar, very impressive!❤
Still sounds amazing! Unbelievable. ❤
Awesome! I love when artists perform the song in the way that made that song a hit in the first place. Nothing worse than going to a concert and trying to sing along and rock out only to find that is when the artist wants to try out a “new version” of the song. We paid for the awesome/original version not the new one that is usually never good. Thanks for sticking to the original version! Great performance!
Seen them many times....never gets old!!! ROCK ON MY BROTHERS!!!
Don Barnes! Never disappoints! Love 38!
Barnes is still using the same gutar from the 80"s !!! yes !
Don Barnes Wow...Playing The Lead & Singing Lead...Love Those Triplet Chords
Such a kick ass band!
Let's get it straight. The original song "Caught Up In You" is from the Special Forces album which came out in 1982. This video and performance of the song is from the "Live At Sturgis" album which was recorded and released in 1999. Don Barnes was a co-writer of the song and he sings and plays lead on this live performance. Jeff Carlisi left the band in late 1996/early 1997. In fact, by the time they recorded Live At Sturgis, only Don, Donnie and Larry were left from the .38 Special band that recorded the Special Forces record.
I saw them when this album came out and the band had 2 drummers, Don Barnes had long frizzed out hair and I don't think that's the original lead guitarist, Jeff Carlisi.
@@RKDriver You are correct. That's not Jeff Carlisi. The lead guitarist in this video (black cowboy hat, black t-shirt) is Danny Chauncey. However, he's now no longer with the band either - having left in 2019. The lead guitarist now is Jerry Riggs.
@@scotthunt2479 Exceptr Don Barnes is playing the lead guitar parts here. Not as well as Carlisi did, IMO, but OK.
🔥🔥
@@jawtek82 Yes, I'm well aware of that. However, RKDriver made the post above mine saying he didn't think the lead guitarist was Jeff Carlisi, and I told him he was correct. It was Danny Chauncey, but Don Barnes played lead guitar on this particular song in this particular video.
A performance we didn't deserve but lived to view! Rock n roll my friends!
If only more people understood this comment that's coming from a 33 yr old in 2022.....
I'm willing to bet this song will be played well into 2100.
Love how they go right into the chorus after the first verse. Hell, its the best part of this song, why wait.
Isn't that usually how songs are written? Lol
Heaven!!!
We used to listen to this in the 82nd Airborne all the time for stress relief 😊
Takes me back to another place and time
I can’t like this enough! 👍❤️🎶
wow what a melodic solo.
Damn how could anyone not love this band there so awesome fell in love with 1st time I seen them yrs ago !
I always get shivers down my back at the end guitar solo, I always wished it went on longer!☺️
same!
No shit!!!
Perfection
Amazing
This is such an excellent live version of this wonderful song. Thanks for posting it.
Don Barnes, Always the Gentleman 🤗😊...
Yes, he's class. Seen them twice in the past two years. Don can still get it done
@@gw5309 They will always be what true Rock n roll was all about... 👍❤ I miss my friends...
Great music will never ever die period
This listener is so caught up in you.....great song
I saw them in Kankakee, Illinois in 2016 and they had the huge crowd onits feet, including me with phones in the air for almost the whole concert! They were AWESOME!!!
I finally found this after so many years....sweet sweet rock & roll....what rock & roll was/is supposed to BE!! Can't stop listening!
Saw them again last Saturday in FT. Worth, so damn good . Don Barnes is really one of the best ever
38 special simply great band caught up in you the best and my favorite song I have seen the band over years still great
¡¡¡¡Woooowwww!!!. Q chingoneria de cancion. Me fascinaaaaaa. ¡¡38 special forever!!. ❤💋❤💋❤💋❤
Any one listen this master piece in 2019 back the 80s plz I can live with out you 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸💯👍👍👍
you "can't" live without us yeah
I know Jeff Carlisi is an awesome lead guitar player, but you have to give Don Barnes his due. Don absolutely shredded the lead guitar part towards the end of this song. Everybody in the audience was like "Jeff who?"
I never knew there'd come a day
When I'd be sayin' to you
"Don't let this good love slip away
Now that we know that it's true"
Don't, don't you know the kind of man I am
No, said I'd never fall in love again
But it's real and the feeling comes shining through
So caught up in you, little girl
And I never did suspect a thing
So caught up in you, little girl
That I never want to get myself free
And baby it's true
You're the one
Who caught me baby you taught me
How good it could be
It took so long to change my mind
I thought that love was a game
I played around enough to find
No two are ever the same
You made me realized the love I missed
So hot! Love I couldn't quite resist
When it's right the light just comes shining through
So caught up in you, little girl
You're the one that's got me down on my knees
So caught up in you, little girl
That I never want to get myself free
And baby it's true
You're the one
Who caught me, baby you taught me
How good it could be
Fill your days and your nights
No need to ever ask me twice, oh no
Whenever you want me
And if ever comes a day
When you should turn and walk away, oh no
I can't live without you
So caught up in you
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah
And if ever comes a day
When you should turn and walk away, oh no
I can't live without you
So caught up in you, little girl
You're the one that's got me down on my knees
So caught up in you , little girl
That I never want to get myself free
And baby it's true
You're the one
Who caught me baby you taught me
How good it could be, little girl
You're the one that's got me down on my knees
So caught up in you, little girl
That I never want to get myself free
And baby it's true
You're the one
Who caught me and taught me
You got me so caught up in you
WOW!! Rock and roll!! 38 special.. really know how to get it done. Thx 🎸
Great performance guys 🌹
Magnificent!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Lead singer and lead guitar that’s awesome
Matt Shown, why are there 2 rhythm guitarists?
C. Mike Smith idk prolly harmonies but you see him playing the solos
Matt Shown, I agree with you. They did have 2 drummers and 2 rhythm guitarists(circa 1982).
ZZ Top somehow can play all of their songs with just 3 members total.
C. Mike Smith yeah you should look into how billy gibbons gets his tone on recordings I’ve read he uses like 3 of the same pedals stacked together to get a thicker tone. Also skynyrd had 3 guitarist that swapped lead and rhythm I always thought it was badass no one ever stepped on each other’s toes for solos. Van Halen did it with a 3 piece as well and they’ve always sounded great
Matt Shown, very true. Eddie, Alex, and Michael Anthony had a wall of sound during their concerts, regardless of who was fronting the band.
38 special still got It
❤❤❤
Epitome of Southern Rock!!!!!! Yeeeeehaaa!
Godbless the 80s. I miss them
Music will never be good as these days ❤
WRONG
My wedding song. I married him 22 years ago. Sadly, he passed we were together for 21 years ...💔❤❤❤❤ 4:46
Awesome song
Don never needed Jeff on lead guitar & Jeff knew it.
Don is better looking older than when he was younger🙂🙃
TIMELESS!!!!!
February 2022 and I’m still caught up in you.
RIP to Larry Junstrom
I love this! This is the real thing!
Love this song
Love 38
Just soooo good. Love them
All Hail Don Barnes & .38 Special!
I'm at opening of 38 right now! 9-10-21
This is 1999 or 98 not 82....not unless you mean the song came out in 82 in which case you’re right. This performance was from Sturgis 1999
do you remember the song from 1982?
Good info- they must not have known the exact date of te performance
It's 99 he said in the description that the song came out in 82
@@uraass2utubeif I noticed immediately that this was from their amazing Sturgis show, then I’d say I know all about 1982
Hell ya. Awesome. Listening to start my day!
1:31 I love that guitar duo slip in that’s a slick move 🎸 🎸
Why am I crying...
Amazi gg
Damn that was good!
Best love of my life walked away from me this song!💔WAS IT REALLY THAT EASY LARNDA?
Sweet!
This song remember me when i wass to my girlfiriend, now she lives with me
Still fucking badass!
Nice and clean
damn Don Barnes is a beast!
I saw them right around that time and this is not from an '82 concert.
The song is from 1982
They are pointing out this performance of the song is not from 1982. Yes the song is from then. Not this performance.
Great fuckin tune
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
GTFOH ! AWESOME
Donnie VZ is not Ronnie VZ even with the hat. This song written by Jim Peterik, Czech American who wrote Eye of the Tiger.
Muy bien
How are his fingers not on fire?
Artists just dont do live performances like this anymore…. Because they cant
Not 82... where is Jeff Carlise?
do you remember the song from 1982?
Jef Carlisi was replaced with Danny Chauncey in 1987.
Back stage with your mom
Jeff Carlisi who? I'm only kidding. I love Jeff's playing. But man, Don Barnes doesn't miss a note of the guitar solo. Plus lead singing & rhythm guitar parts. Don Barnes is fucking great!
First?
second
third
38 special by far is the best sounding band from then. Even hall and Oates which came out after 38 special sounds awful. But these guys are golden . And yes, what happened ? Why is music so shit now?
Don Barnes was 29 in this and he looks 45.
This concert (Live at Sturgis) was recorded in August, 1999, and Don Barnes was born in 1952. That means he would have been 47 years old when this concert was recorded.
Singer should’ve grown his hair out and would’ve looked younger.
1982 my ass
The description says 1999.
Lamest crowd in the history of ever.
All I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What happened to the dual drummers?
Amazing
