      And personally, 1984 was the single greatest year ever IMO - Van Halen 1984, Madonna Like A Virgin, Bruce Springsteen- Born in the USA, Tina Turner - Private Dancer, MJ’s Thriller tour was still going, Genesis, U2, The Police all had great albums. Bon Jovi’s Debut, Aerosmith’s comeback, Metallica’s Ride the Lightning, Bryan Adams - Reckless, Rod Stewart and Elton John had strong albums, Lionel Richie’s biggest album, Def Leppard’s Pyromania was 1983, but tour was mostly in 84, Pat Benatar, Rick Springfield, The Cars, Stevie Wonder’s “I just called to say I love you”, Ghostbusters Soundtrack, Footloose Soundtrack, Scorpions Rock You Like a Hurricane, Huey Lewis & the News, Journey had a big album I think, etc. Anyway, that’s just off the top of my head

      @aloysiusbelisarius9992 2 года назад +28

      I have a pretty good theory on that, and it's not meant to excuse that shyster practice of theirs. Basically, most radio stations will have maybe about two dozen '80s hits, usually the ones that were most overplayed back then, and overplay them again. That leaves out a good 20-dozen other songs by other performers back then, all of which deserve more respect than they ever got.
      That's why I still make my own mix-tapes, usually with examples of those other 20-dozen songs that never get airplay anymore...and ought to.

      @@kevinnobody3052 They still had two drummers back then. It was great just watching them in perfect sequence. Saw 38 Special twice since and they did not disappoint!

    My hometown band. The greatest era of music there will ever be. I remember buying 8-track tapes of these 70' and early 80's bands and rocking out. Life was good.

    This song hits home for me. Back in the 80's, I was dating a girl who I though I would marry. Out of the blue, she said goodbye. The reason was she was graduating college soon and had her whole career and future planned out in her head. I was going to college part time and working, simply because I was unsure what I wanted to do for a career. She thought I was taking too long (LOL we were only 21!) and thought the grass would be greener elsewhere instead of dating a guy who was a part time student and worked a not so glamorous job. So she said goodbye and moved on. I never saw her after that.
    I took it hard, but moved on. I figured out what I was meant to do, entered school full time and ended up with a great career. I actually stopped thinking about her after a while. A few months ago, we randomly ran into each other. We talked a while. It turns out she was married and divorced 3 times since we last saw each other. Her career ended up not being what she though it was going to be. When I was leaving, she said her biggest mistake was saying goodbye all those years ago. Then she ask me what if the tables were turned? What if I was the one who was sure of my career back then and she was the undecided one? What if I was the one to say goodbye? I turned around, looked her in the eyes and said back then "I would have never said goodbye to you" turned around and kept walking. The last thing I heard was her crying because it was only then that she realized she totally messed up.

      I’m 58 now and retired from the Army and a couple years ago I got in touch with a former girlfriend I proposed to marry but she declined and the first thing she said to me was that she’s very sorry which I wasn’t expecting and it was sad to hear her say that. She had 2 failed marriages and never had kids and lives with her mom and works from home. Some people will never learn from their mistakes and stay stuck on stupid and that’s the best it’ll get. I had over 25 girlfriends from when I was 19 to 25 and it was usually the distance and Army life that doomed the relationship since most women don’t want to leave their hometown, friends and family. I married a Puerto Rican lady in 1990 that’s an amazing woman and we made two healthy daughters, it’s important to have a wife who’s young so there’s a low risk of birth defects since once a woman turns 30, the risk level shoots up like a rocket.

      They think anybody really cares about their career. The other stuff is more important.
