That's just awesome! Your blessed with cool parents, I'm glad you took to the music of the 80s . Anytime I hear a young person who has an open mind enough to listen to the music of the 80s it's cool because it's like the "Torch is being passed" to another generation and, maybe someday you'll do the same, and the music (great music from _all_ previous generations) will live forever!! So cool, blaze your own trail right? I love it✌️❤️🎸🎶🙏
After like, 35 yrs, I rediscovered this song just a few days ago. I’ve been binging on it, on I-tunes, about 3 days straight. I had forgotten how addictive that chorus is, together with the guitar work. Dear God, let it be the 80’s again!
One of the best 38 Spec songs to ever hit a turntable .. it was not a chick song but a guy that got caught song. If you were the guy you definitely wanted the soon to be X to hear it too.. while you were putting on your knee pads😂
Yeah that's what got me about the song all those years ago. The vocal and the guitars. Not really deep lyrics or anything, but it was feelgood and hit the spot when it came out in the 90s.
Have to agree with you Gary, I'll be 70 next year. I've been around since Rock and roll first started, and the 70s and the 80s were hands down the best!
After almost 25 years, I met my first and deepest love at a school reunion. This song was popular at the time, and it became very meaningful for me. We’ve been married for 32 years now, and this song still brings me to tears. I’ve loved him since I was 15 and always will.
That's what music and memories are for. I reconnected with someone from high school (she was two grades lower than me) in 2019. Turns out she was in love with me at that age as well. I didn't realize how blissful love could be.

I was going to get on here and whine about my three marriages which all ended in divorce, but then I read your post. I think your situation is much worse. I hope you get your third chance. And I hope I get my fourth.

One of the best emotional songs ever heard!!!!!!!!!! Unbelieveable......!!!!!!! My favourite song for eternity.......38 Special, thank's forever!!!!!!!!!!
When I was backstage at Grand Funk concert about 6 years ago I was ushering at, the band greeted us in area and wished us well for night. No idea in the world that was Max Karl who was gracious with us, longer hair, shades etc. if I would have no I would have shook his hand and said job well done on this song. Still my favorite 80’s song.
The further we get from the music of this era, the more I realize how lucky I was to grow up in the 80’s. There are songs like this one that are just flawless.
When I hear this song,I just have to close my eyes and retrospect on how life was so awesome back in the day and how many of my loved ones and friends have gone on in to meet their maker!!! Thanks 38 Special for allowing me to do a little retrospecting of my great awesome teenager life!!
Mine was the 75th LIKE to this comment...I feel exactly the same way ❤ just missing the past and all the loved ones that have gone way too soon. This era is so missed....
Sometimes you don't realize just how good music was back in the day until you hear it again years and years later!! That's why I'm here heard this on the radio and it's been on repeat every since!!
Same here. I was sitting at an IHOP yesterday and I had heard this song while I was waiting for my food to arrive. I had forgotten about this song. Glad we’re reunited!!
The lead singer has such broad prominent facial features, he reminds me of this family of Mormons that I knew back in the late 90's who had very similar features.
Hands down.....one of the very best 'heart break' songs to come out of the 80s'! The powerful/impassioned lyrics and _especially_ the minimal & understated....yet dramatically cutting to the bone...weeping guitar leads throughout is what sold this song and kept it at the top of the charts for multiple weeks back then! _WHEW!_
Shoppping in Walmart brought me here!! It was playing and I literally almost lost a lung singing it and now it’s on repeat. To all my eighties babies wishing you all nothing but the best. ❤
That's so funny , I was in the bank and this came on! I googled it and came here.
Sooo good , but this guy looks more like he could kick a mud hole in your ass !! Than an amazing artist , which he really is !!!

No idea in the world that was Max Karl who was gracious with us, longer hair, shades etc. if I would have no I would have shook his hand and said job well done on this song. Still my favorite 80’s song.
I'm still bummed a year later I missed seeing them at the state fair!!!!😢😢😢
You are not the only one. I am 64 and I will always remember life back in the day. 38 special is just that. They are special.
I'm 64 too Ronda and I agree with you 100%. And they don't call life back in the day "The Good Ole Days" for nothing. The years sure flew by, huh?!
THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST, "UNDERRATED" SONG EVER.... BADASS
what?
I agree
The further we get from the music of this era, the more I realize how lucky I was to grow up in the 80’s. There are songs like this one that are just flawless.
Great memories return when listening to this band.
And some sad!
When I hear this song,I just have to close my eyes and retrospect on how life was so awesome back in the day and how many of
my loved ones and friends
have gone on in to meet their maker!!!
Thanks 38 Special for allowing me to do a little retrospecting of my great awesome teenager life!!
I feel the same. Family and friends passed away. My fur baby Joey last year. 🙏🏻🐶👩⚕️❤
Right now you have 38 likes. I wanted to add to it, but I'm hoping it stays at 38 because it's so appropriate.....
Wow that's awesome!!!
So true
Mine was the 75th LIKE to this comment...I feel exactly the same way ❤ just missing the past and all the loved ones that have gone way too soon. This era is so missed....
Real musos, sound engineers, producers came out the 80s!☝️
Growing up, this was one of the songs that taught me about love, feeling emotions, good times.

RUclips is definitely a time machine.. bringing back memories of my young days.

All I've made was one mistake, our hearts need a second chance. I need all the chances I can get 😀
Yes Sir! I remember this from around 86 like it was Yesterday! Great times, Great Music, Great Memories!
80's BEST MUSIC EVER
Absolutely. Best decade for music.
This one has to be one of my favorite songs. Until this day, I keep playing it over and over, and I never get tired of it. ❤ THE 80S!
Hi daisykane, I want to dedicate that song to you. I love that song, too. ❤😊

Sometimes you don't realize just how good music was back in the day until you hear it again years and years later!! That's why I'm here heard this on the radio and it's been on repeat every since!!
Hello,how are you doing?
Same here. I was sitting at an IHOP yesterday and I had heard this song while I was waiting for my food to arrive. I had forgotten about this song. Glad we’re reunited!!
I do....can't listen to much of any kind of today's music....country, or rock.
I just love this Band" my 1987 love songs
Max Carl just nailed it with his emotion in his vocals. Perfection!
Yes he did!! That's what makes the song so great because he sang it right from his soul!!
The lead singer has such broad prominent facial features, he reminds me of this family of Mormons that I knew back in the late 90's who had very similar features.
Yes I totally agree with you!
Brings tears to my eyes for those that didn’t get a second chance
Saw 38 Special in the late 90's in Long Beach, California.
One of the greatest concert shows I've every seen.
All these years later Max Carl sounds just as good. Unbelievable at 72 years old. Just saw Grand Funk Railroad last night. Excellent.
same age as me still love this music!
I absolutely love this song, nothing beats the 80's real music

oh god yah...the mullets.
the overwrought emotions. the bad teeth.
but fuck me what a song!
me too! 80s had the best music.
I am stuck in the 80s as well I like the really good singers
right place ...right song... right look....right time.....magic is real
This is such a great song. I think the late 60s early 70s were the best era for rock music but the 80s was the best era for music across all genres.
AGREE 100%
I am with ya!
Do we have second chance back to 80s?
Hands down.....one of the very best 'heart break' songs to come out of the 80s'! The powerful/impassioned lyrics and _especially_ the minimal & understated....yet dramatically cutting to the bone...weeping guitar leads throughout is what sold this song and kept it at the top of the charts for multiple weeks back then! _WHEW!_
