Movie: Mannequin (1987)
Jonathan Switcher (Andrew McCarthy), an unemployed artist, finds a job as an assistant window dresser for a department store. When Jonathan happens upon a beautiful mannequin he previously designed, she springs to life and introduces herself as Emmy (Kim Cattrall), an Egyptian under an ancient spell. Despite interference from the store's devious manager (James Spader), Jonathan and his mannequin fall in love while creating eye-catching window displays to keep the struggling store in business.

Kim Cattrall was so beautiful in this movie and her fashion and makeup style became very popular among women in 20s and 30s after the movie was released. The production team wasn't pleased to choose her because her age (31) seemed old for the 25 year old male character. But she acted amazingly, showing one of the most sexy, loverly & attractive characters in the 80s. Kim worked out and went on a diet to be as streamlined as possible to match the mannequins as closely as she could.
In all fairness, there are scenes in the trailer in which he seems like a little kid close to her; but also she got froze in time for at least the 200s 😉

I loved this movie as a kid. One of my favourite 80s movies, not to mention this song ❤ Eighties were such a great time to grow up in, so crazy, creative, and fun. I miss that kind of weirdness these days.

My father was a sculpter. He worked for a mannequin company for 18 yrs during the 80's. He actually made the original full figure clay mannequins that were later made in fiberglass and sold to Sears, JCPenny, Kmart and even Disneyland. He also did the final skin and face textures and colors.

I came to America in 1987 @ 10yrs old from Lebanon, yea, I've experienced some of it ( 80's ) here and we used to watch Michael Jackson from Lebanon too, so yea, American shows still resonate like it was yesterday. Visiting Lebanon this summer for the 1st time, it's gonna look Alien to me so imma try to get along and blend in. .
In 1987 my wife and I (married 40 years now) saw this movie on a date at the movie theatre in downtown Milwaukie Oregon. Fun times. Miss the 80s for so many reason. Some things are better now, but so many are a step backward.

Really need to give props to the sculptor who made the mannequin for this movie! It really does capture the essence of Kim Cattrall's face (without going too far into uncanny valley territory). Not something people really think about but, that is just beautiful work.

Mannequin was a good movie. Kim Cattrall was only 31 when it came out in 1987. She was very beautiful and perfect for the part. The 1980s had great music and great movies. I loved Starship.

This song is one of our over the road touring songs.
We have 7 adult children and 5 grandchildren spread out around the US. Our primary residence is in Eastern Long Island. Our secondary is in Naples Fla.
So, we also have a 2023 TIFFIN Allegro Touring BUS. It's so wonderful when we can schedule some touring time. It's such a nice time for us, as we love being together.
We try to get to as many of the kids as possible on a tour. We also tow an enclosed car trailer, so we can take my wife's 2022 C8 Corvette on the journey! Just one of many toys in our garages.
Nothing is going to stop us now! We are truly living the American Dream!!!

I've lived through the 80's and I cry because I wish it never ended. .😥
I think one of the easiest ways you can tell this is from the 80s, aside from the cool kinda weirdness, is you can feel the energy, and the future feels bright. Nowadays everything feels like doom and gloom.
What really makes this movies stand out is the idea that a Shopping Center can be the stage as well as the warehouse for 90% of all movies you wanna shout.

It wasn't just the music, the fashions and the people of the 80's that made it so awesome, it was also the first decade where people could really break the shackles and be free to be themselves and to let loose. It was also a time of innocence where people were so much more genuine, kinder and giving to each other, especially younger people who found their individuality and were not afraid to use their voice and speak up! The 80's will always be considered the best decade of all time and for good reason!

I’d say the first decade where fashion wasnt so restrained was the late 60s. That was definitely a huge turning point.

80s rom-coms just hit different. They didn’t really care about coming off as overly corny or unrealistic. They captured the pure essence of love. If there’s one trait that would instantly mark a film as an 80s film, it’s that quality of unashamedness. They never apologized for anything, not the freeze frame ending shots, not the big power ballads, not the wacky plot ideas like a guy falling in love with a mannequin (in the most wholesome way possible). It was a different era of filmmaking.

Everyone was nice to each other, everyone had fun, we weren't all attention seekers. Society now has gone downhill since the internet and smartphones were invented. People today are generally selfish, image obsessed unpleasant individuals. No time for anyone, angry and ignorant. Its a horrible world now.

The 1980s were the best years for me... I was young loved going to the club's on the weekends with friends and dancing my ass off to these 1980s songs... This was a great movie, loved it... The 1980s was Like The future.. The hairstyles the clothes.. I had a killer wardrobe... We were young healthy and just had fun.. I still love 1980s movies... The 80s brat pack actors were some of my favorites... Really miss all that.. It was great fun...
