    The HK MR762 and the LMT L219A1 are two rifles competing for that high end gas gun AR dollar, but which do I like better and why? The AR10 is an iconic rifle in .308 that many Americans love. So we put these to titans against each other to see which comes out on top.

    You can have it in 13.5, 16, 18, 20, 24 barrel length. Literally 1min to swap.
    You can have it in piston as well.
    Best platform for lasers.

    No issues with support in US.

    I use the HK with the Steiner 5-25 for almost 8 years now. It shoots precisely, be it on 50, 100, 300, or 1000 m. I prefer the 168gr rounds. For training purposes, I use the cheaper 145 gr rounds, which are not as precise as the 168, but good enough. I love the rifle for its perfect finish and usability. It shoots much cleaner than a direct impingement rifle, which, for my taste, must be cleaned to often. With cleaning cycles of 1000 - 2000 shots the HK is a reliable an precise partner.

      It has some unique ways to handle the 308 power in a nearly 556 size package. You've probably seen the other RUclipsr having troubles with the bolt hold open. I've got to find that vid again to have him check something else on it. He seemed to retract the carrier as far as possible with the charging handle yet it wasn't far enough to lock back. I think the charging handle runs out of travel too soon. I think the carrier under recoil may travel far enough but not entirely reliably. It may be that it cycles just a bit too fast for the magazine to reliably lift the hold open into the way.

      I also own one LMT Mars 16" in 5.56, ...I bought it because of how much Chris at Small arms Solutions talked about how he thought it was the best rifle on the market, long story short...I was incredibly DISSAPOINTED in the LMT. My POF, LWRC rifles, and a couple others I own in the same price range all have way superior fit and finish compared to the LMT, the LMT is heavier with its monolithic upper, and the ambi mag release does not work on the lower I am on my 2nd lower and both had the same issue, and I have talked to a few other owns and found out it is a common problem with the design of LMTs ambi controls. I suppose if someone bought a LMT and never bought any other rifles they may thing the LMT was great but mine really made me lose respect for Chris at Small Arms Solutions. Which makes me sad, because I KNOW he is a knowledgeable dude when it comes to these weapons, but I have to think he let some sort of person bias in when recommending LMT as the best AR15 on the market. As for as D.I. gas guns go, My POF-USA RenegadePlus blows it out of the water. I would put the LMT on the same tier as say Aero Persicion, as far as fit and finish, now Aero makes some good decent guns, but they don't cost $2500(what my lmt cost). Don't get me wrong the LMT shoots fine, but so does my 3 Aero Persicion bulds I put together on my kitchen table.

    Wanted HK, but, due to mags and barrel options, I went with LMT. The only thing I don’t like about these ar 10 platforms, maybe it’s just lmt, I would like to shoot mostly m80, cheaper bullets, out of a chrome lined barrel. The 147-149 grains typically perform better with a slower twist rate. Lmt doesn’t make chrome lined barrels with slower twist rate. Only their SS options have the 1:11.25. Their chrome lined barrels are all 1:10.

    But in reality it is which is why I only have a PTR 91 A3S for my 308 rifle. Set up with the wide hand guard and HK bi pod. A crap ton of magazines for it and a couple thousand rounds of the MKE ZQi ammo 7.62x51 which I got all from local Walmart’s back in the day for .50 cents a round. My next rifle in this caliber with probably be the Ruger.

    * Value - PSA PA10
    * Budget - Ruger SFAR
    * Main - Daniel Defense DD5v3 or v4
    * Military - LMT or HK
    * Gucci - LWRC
    Or something similar. Compare weight, warranty, accuracy, reliability, etc.

Purchased a 20 inch barrel for my mars and finally got it working after it was sent to me brand new with a shifted gas tube that was causing hot black hills ammo to barely cycle. Gun felt like an airsoft gun until we fixed it

    I think the HK is better looking, better built overall, and I made a big mistake in not choosing it. 😞
    My LMT averages 1 1/4" groups at 100 but has grouped 3/4" in some cherry picked groups with 175 gr Gorilla ammo.

    My MARS-H is my favorite rifle to shoot. Honestly, if it wasn't for ammo price, I'd pick it over my MARS-L almost every time, chonky weight and all. I have an NZ contract surplus barrel, 20" SS barrel, and accuracy is excellent compared to every other rifle I have but it's picky on what ammo it likes, in temrs of accuracy. But it cicles almost everything except for the hottest .308.

    I built an LMT AR10 with all lmt parts, including a SS 16 inch barrel, the ambi lower, and the monolithic m-lok upper. The only thing different from a factory mws was that I went with the b5 SOPMOD stock instead of LMTs overpriced SOPMOD. All together, it cost me about $2500, saving me about 1k. It's been reliable and shoots about 1moa with match ammo, but is way too heavy, coming in at over 13 lb with a scope and bipod. The ruger definitely looks interesting by comparison. Even the DD, and Sig Tread seem like they would be lighter and a better value.

    Tbh I think I'll save my money and go with the POF revolution which I could get in either DI or piston so it could be set up either style for less than half the cost of the HK LRP and a solid 1.5-2k less than the LMT. Not only that but when mentioning the Ruger SFAR it competes in size and weight with the Ruger. That said I'd take the Ruger in a heartbeat too because I've had great luck with the 556 model being fairly accurate with a fixed FSB esp in the role of a patrol/combat carbine. Right now I'm saving for the POF and whem the my lgs can get an SFAR in again I'll def pick one up to play with. The Rev is gonna be my hog rifle for sure though. Got a can I'm waiting on final approval for that will be right at home on it.
