    Although these days since I said farewell to my 40's long ago, I'm 62, I've found it a considerable hardship to hold even a 1 minute group with my 3 minute shake....
    😱😛😜😃
    And it's been 10 years since the last time I was able to put 2 rds out of 3 through the same hole of a 1 inch group @ 200 yds..😱

    • @treygregory7929
      @treygregory7929 4 года назад +5

      SCARs are light compared to other 308s for sure. But the 20 is noticeably heavier than the 17 (as is should be with the 20 inch barrel). I think it’s about 11 pounds naked.
      I didn’t find it unusually long though. It’s a really nice semi auto precision rifle. I don’t think it stays on target better than SR25 derivatives though. Go shoot a KAC or LMT MWS. They’re HEAVY, but they stay on target really well. Kind of pros and cons of the different platforms.

    • @tessiebergeron4900
      @tessiebergeron4900 4 года назад

      They are, heavy as hell too. You don’t wanna lug one of those around. Def a great rifle, but the price just kills it. No way, 4 to 8 grand on a heavy ass rifle? It’s an iconic favorite yes. But I can’t justify buying one for the price. Sooo many other great rifles at that cost.

    • @Colonel1Bravo
      @Colonel1Bravo 3 года назад +3

      By the time you add a few things to a 17s you have to start thinking how you are going to change it up to get it to be light again. I own a 17 and have never touched a 20. I don’t have to touch it to tell it’s heavier. I am happy with my 17. I lucked out and got a Tavor 7 in November of 2019 before the craziness and while it is handy, it’s still a tad heavier than my scar. I bought my scar in 2011 when they could be had for 2800 out the door. The price has steadily went up. None are as ergonomic or light as my BCM Recce 16 but the scar 17 is more accurate with a bigger punch. I like them all but I can’t see the benefit for a 20s when it comes to being practical. I have bolt guns that are way more accurate than any semi so I will stick with what I have.

      I've seen one in person. Guns always LOOK way bigger in a video than they actually are. SCARs especially. I think the problem is I'm taller than Eric, so when I see Eric with a gun it looks big, but when I see MAC with a gun it looks tiny because he's 6'4.

    LMT MRP uppers have been around for about 12 years, before Mlok or Key Mod. But, now they offer the MRP and MWS with Mlok. I have a MRP upper with Mlok, and although it works, the Mlok screws will prevent the barrel from being removed. The barrel extension will not make it past those screws.

    I'm sure these are great firearms, but I'm really excited to see how well the Barrett REC10 does with the 20" barrel. The 16" version is already out and is cheaper than both, I hope since Barrett has military contracts it can compare to other great .308 DMR style rifles.

      Agreed. I think it'll also be interesting to see how the REC10 compares to the tried and true SR-25 (Or M110K for us LARPers), since they seem to really have the most in common with each other.
      If Barrett can deliver on the same performance as the marquee top end AR10S (KAC, LMT 308, etc) with the known quantity of their name behind it, and at a better price, I think they may have a real winner.

Of course just like Lamborghini or Ferrari can take you from point A to B Toyota or Hyundai can do the same. Similar concept applies here as well, same target can be hit with regular AR-10 as well as with these guns. Unless, you really want to just have these guns in your collection there's no real reason why you would need these over AR-10 or other less expensive options.

    I understand this accuracy argument too, as far as shooters arguing about half minute guns etc. I watch people fail the USMC rifle qual every year with the M27 (USMC HK416) while dudes will shoot high shooter with a worn out M4. It's why I tell people the free floated barrel is nice, but it's not some magic tool that's going to make people shoot wildly better.

      Got my M1 Garand from the CMP and it’s awesome. Receiver was made in Oct 1944. Definitely worth it! HKs get addictive though. Started with a USP40, then a VP9T, then a HK45CT, then I traded the VP9T for a P30L and I plan on getting a VP9 again as a project gun. Still want a USP45 and a Mk23. And a P2000sk in 40sw. It’s an expensive hobby lol

The LRP seems like an absolute rip off albeit the stock is very cool and I like the FDE rail, but no way does this account for the price difference.

    I think a better choice than the SCAR 20 is to purchase a 20" 6.5 Creedmoor SCAR 17 barrel from Deadshotbarrels. I did, and it's an excellent barrel, pricey though -- a thousand bucks for a barrel WITH a factory gas block installed (and you have to buy a piston and gas regulator yourself -- or just use the ones from your factory 308 barrel).

    The head tilting when peeping through the sight, is not conducive for good performance. Nor is flexing the wrist of the trigger hand. Any technique is good, except the bad ones... But the ergonomic, physiological way of shooting with precision is with a straight line of the forearm. It can be hard to combine the straight neck with the straight forearm in the prone position, but slight deviations are tolerated, though the adjustability and modularity of modern rifles should allow you to minimize those imperfections in technique - if you know what a good technique is. Otherwise adjustability might just trick you into conserving poor technique

    Battle Rifles are in a weird spot right now. They’re either way over priced but up to military standards or they’re inexpensive but you’ll need spare parts available as it beats itself to death.
    It would be great to have a modern battle rifle that is built for the common man. It would probably be about 2K.

    • @Predalien195
      @Predalien195 5 лет назад +1

      The PTR-91's are often $900 or less at times, they run just fine, parts are available, mags, etc.. not over priced at all. The C-308's which have PTR receivers are a hit or miss and seen some really good examples and some really poor ones. I'd had one of the older Century Arms CETME imports that ran me $500, 5,000+ rounds later and it was still going strong. Sold it when Obama got into office, got $800 for it.
      There are some other alternative mil-surp options. But most modern rifles are as you say. Though some of the newer AR-10's out there are showing a lot of promise on price and performance.

    • @Guardian2A
      @Guardian2A 5 лет назад

      Christopher I agree but unfortunately the Fals, G3s, M14 and other battle rifles aren’t usually friendly to optics and other modern ergos. AR -10s are getting better but I believe a lot of the reviewers find that they have common parts that just break fairly prematurely compared to their little brothers: extractors, bolt catches, and sometimes even trigger components when hit by the bolt.

    • @Predalien195
      @Predalien195 5 лет назад +1

      @@Guardian2A Well the PTR's have welded rails so no need for proprietary claw mounts anymore. FAL's beat optics to pieces just like SCAR's do, and M14's are iffy... A potential alternative is get one of those Remington 750/7500 series guns, put a good optic on it, get the aftermarket 10 round mags, and you can get it in .270, .30-06, .308, or .243 Winchester.

    It's quite shocking how pricey the MR762 is in the US. Over here they run for about twentyfivehundred bucks, which is quite a bargain, considering that guns like the Savage MSR 10 oder Windham AR10 are around twothousand and the FNs are unobtainable for some reason.
    @MAC You might want to consider an UHL MR308 trigger. Don't know about availability in the US and they are not cheap (as is everything Made in Germany), but they certainly help to unveil the MR762's true potential.
