Daniel defenses warranty work is un paralleled as well. Some really amazing folks that work at that company. I'm like Tim over on military arms channel. I get lemons like crazy. But essentially the m4v1 I bought had to have the rear sight drifted all the way to the right. With only a few clicks left at 25 meters to get it zerod. So I called them up. Told them look. I live in a awful neighborhood. I can't leave my girl and kids home alone with no protection. They overnighted the weapon to them. Got it in the shop that morning fixed the problem and had it overnighted right back to me. All for free. Amazing people. To any possible haters gonna call me fan boy. I have the email's from them saved. I'll fan boy that kinda service all day. That is truly caring about your customers safety.
@@jonmeray713 they essentially said an over torqued barrel nut. But thought also that the front sight could have been slightly to the right. They replaced the barrel to a brand new one. Already had roughly 500+ rounds through it. Brand new BCG. Upgraded to a bcm charging handle for free. New front sight. Sent me a hat 2 extra mags put a mag pul pro buis on it. The one I had on it was the plastic magpul sight. (Had an acog on it at that time). And a few other lil cool dd products. Even a hand written letter apology for the problem.
@@jonmeray713 Chris told you that? And you're welcome my friend. I don't particularly trust those plastic ones. It broke during shipping. I still got that pic as well. I was like tf lol.
You can afford to buy a DD no problem but live in an awful neighbourhood? Talk about priorities.
@@GreenRatel I'll take that as a compliment. 🤣With the acog and cerakote and other minor accessories. Sling light etc. It got up to 3500$. To be fair though. When we moved in it wasn't bad. But after about 2 years. It started getting bad. Then really bad. Then we had a guy get shot right in front of our apt. Dude died laying in front of my door on the sidewalk. Then a kid stabbed another kid about 4 doors down. Cops on the street for something everyday. The crime around here just moves around its really weird. It was the south city. Then it moved north. Moving st the time wasn't an option.
@@TrustJesusisenough This clears things up. I thought suburbs was the way to go in US. Especially for people who are into guns. Anyway I hope you're gonna do ok. Teach the kiddos how to hold a gun but I bet you did it already. Have a good day.
Love the side by side comparison format for the video. You are truly helping people who can not access both rifles make an informed buying decision.
Eric, Chad thank you guys for all of your continued effort in developing content for this channel and sharing with the rest of us.
Love your videos guys, they're always extremely entertaining and informative. I'm getting a Daniel Defense AR-10 tomorrow afternoon!
Love this style of video, keep up the good work guys!
Love the format, love the raw facts and no fan boy type remarks. Each gun has a place, thanks for sharing.
Both were on my list. Went with the DD and absolutely LOVE it!!!
Great video. Super thorough but not Nuttn’ boring. Keep up the great work guys. Been a sub for years.
Great format - straightforward.
Good information, I appreciate you guys.
now I need a 20S
Mrgunsngear Channel get it in black though. More accurate.
@@jbdoingjbstuff 🤣🤣
Now you know how we feel each time you do a video 😀
…so you already have a DD5V4?
I like these practical use overviews and comparisons
LOVE this style of video! Please make more!
Loved the format
Great, I'm really thinking about getting a DD5, this vid did the job, thanks guys 🤟🍻😈
Very nice comparison and informative. Thanks!
Great discussion, thank you.
The DD is very comparable to the scar. And what was it 1500/2000 less. That one is a no brainier 👍👍
Scar is going to never go down in value.
Maybe even go up in a few years.
That’s a major benefit.
The price of entry is ridiculous I own one. Plus you just can’t put a cheap scope on it so the price only goes up substantially. It’s also super heavy.
But I love it.
Skeptical Skeksis got to shoot my friends 20S and loved it. I sure as hell cant afford it though.
Exactly, the scar.
@@emanresu7208 I'll stay with the dd
@@skepticalskeksis221 I sold my scar for the dd. You’re on crack. The scar is so unreliable. It started acting up after 400 rounds
Yes. Like this format of video.
Love comparison videos! I’ve always wanted a SCAR, BUT, with the information provided on this video I have to say I’d lean more towards the DD. Simply from a cost, parts and modularity (6.5 creed option) standpoint. DD makes more sense.
I’ve had the dd5v3 2yrs and have done hrs handloading and shooting mostly inside 550yrds with ease and hit on my 1st rd 1st try@1000yrds …178hornadys with superformance powder…arc is wild from a 16” at that range…58moa
Thank you for taking the time to make these videos, always enjoy watching them. Just shot my DD5 V4 308 for the second time yesterday out to only 220 yards and WOW, got .50” at 100 yards and 1” at 220 and all this with PMC XTAC 7.62x51 standard FMJ (my shtf rounds) along with Hornady Black 308. My scar 20 can’t compare to the light weight maneuverability and extremely comfortable ergonomics of the DD5 V4 but both are great bench shooters just DD5 V4 is definitely going to be my go to hunting etc rifle as the Scar 20 prefers the much more expensive 175 grain rounds which as we all know that our military is tax payer funded so definitely going to take the Daniel Defense over the FN.
These types of videos are my favorite, just wish there was more range time, and tighter range cams. I like seeing individual loads/bullets go head to head on competing platforms w/ a quick overlay of individual round ballistic info, like you guy's have done in the past. Id love to see a 6.5CM version of this video w/ something like an M5E1 vs PSA. Pig rifle shoot-out.
Love it, you're causing my Christmas wish list/ tax time new gun list to keep growing 😍😆
Good stuff! I love .308! I don't have a semi-auto .308 other than my 300AAC, but I do have a bolt action Savage that is an amazing shooter. I considered getting an AR 10, but I have settled for 350 Legend and 300AAC. Very happy with those set ups
After watching this comparison I will definitely be looking at more of the Daniel Defense offerings.
Currently saving up for that 20s
Somehow I missed this awesome video review from Eric. I enjoy listen to peoples thoughts and review of 2 guns even 3 guns in a video. Great format to keep my attention. After watching a few review video's featuring the SCAR20S this video is at the top and they all seem to like another rifle better than the 20S by a little. Both cool guns for sure.
Well done! Continue please.
Beautiful review!
Two years later still a wonderful review and I completely agree with you
Digging this comparison! ✌😎🏴☠️
Any AR is going to be hard to beat. They have everything going for them
Great info
Love this style of vid! Hope there's enough support for more!
Im a FN fan boy but that DD is 💰 for the price DD makes a nice system
Yeah, but do they take Glock mags?
Lololololol
$$$ lol
@C-Bomb I actually totally agree with you and I almost stopped myself, but the calibers involved were just too outlandish of a scenario for me to resist. Plus, I had a bloody mary for breakfast because I'm on vacation....so....uh....yeah. There's also that. It didn't help me make a better decision. Not even just in these comments, but, in general.
Not everyone likes holding black dick mags
That DD 5v4 in 7.62x51 their gun of the month for February was in FDE and storm trooper white and had a stock like the scar. Adjustable stock from magpul
This is a great change up, video wise.
I love this format of video. Cant wait to see more.
I have few DD rifles they just work soooo good flawless , never had an hiccup of any kind, I even have some of their uppers on my 80 lowers and they just work all the time from the box. Quality stuff !
Idea for a Video.... If you had to pick one single Manufacturer for all your gun needs what would it be if you needed to fill the following sub categories?
•Handgun
•Sub Machine Gun
•CQB Weapon
•Assault Rifle
•Machine Gun
•'Long Range' Rifle. (Obviously this is a contentious topic as regards what is considered 'long range' but for arguments sake 700yds plus).
The only Manufacturer I can think of that fills every field is Heckler&Koch but I'd love to hear your views in video format. Keep up the great work guys and stay safe 👌
Please continue with this series. I’m in the market for a DMR type rifle probably in 6.5 Creedmore (although 6.5 Norma may become a consideration if the US military adopts that cartridge. (( I’d love to see a video comparing the two cartridges)) and this series definitely helps point out some of the pros and cons of the different rifles.
If you can get your hands on one, I’d like to see a review of the JP LRP07 in 6.5 Creedmore.
Thanks and keep up the good work.
So, the Daniel Defense
1) is just as accurate
2) is just as soft-shooting
3) is as suppressor-friendly
4) is lighter
5) has better magazine availability
6) uses cheaper magazines
7) is American-made by an American company
8) has much better parts availability
9) is about 40% cheaper
Did I miss anything? So why even consider a SCAR 20S?
What about durability
@@dominiquebrown2890 DDs are solid rifles
Good video, thank you.
Really enjoy these comparison videos. I believe I would rather have the Daniel Defense but would love to own both. Thanks.
I have built several ar15s, I’ve never purchased a complete one, I was thinking about doing an ar-10 inn.308 win next, but the dd5v4 looks pretty nice, I may end up just buying that instead 🤔
Great format......
Yes more videos. P.s. what happens to the comparisons on 44 mag and diff length barrels like revolvers vs lever guns. Thanks for all your work.
What I’d like is an AR based platform...but in .408 Cheytac, would’ve the ultimate long range AR and a nasty closer range also. Though the cost of ammo for training would be pretty brutal.
"The scar is very smooth to shoot" as the rear lens cover falls off under recoil haha. Awesome comparison vid thanks for the info!
Love the scope on the scar
Nicely done, thanks. The extra weight of the FN is a big deal killer for me. But then, the price of both of them is out of my league :-)
I grew up shooting 6mm as a kid and now at 57 I'm still a fan of 6mm I use 6.5 Creedmoore and 243 in semi auto. I also have a few 6.5 Grendels. I never have owned a 308. I have owned a few 7mm mags as well as 300 win mag.
I have both of these. For ultimate performance the SCAR 20 wins hands down, but the DD is 90-95% the performance at about half the cost and has the SR25 and AR10 parts available. Great video, guys.
Will the DD eat all bullets weights like the SCAR?
IBTJC 4Life I have run 147/150gr FMJ and 168 and 175gr SMK without issue.
I own the dd5v4 and love it. I had to change out the safety on the R side to a shorty but not a big deal and now its perfect. I shoot it well out to 500. Past that a bolt gun in a magnum caliber is my choice. Thanks for a great video that just reaffirms my choice of the DD over the FN.
Great video
Great vid Eric. Having a SCAR ‘17s’..and REALLY liking the platform..it does have its quirks, beyond the $ tag. i’m not the least bit interested in the newer 20..even if I didn’t have 17…TRYING to be realistic here. If it’s between these 2 right here..it’s the DD V5, hands down. Price, weight, DI..DD’s rep and parts AVAILABILITY..
They are both amazing rifles.
k
I love my DD5V4!
Enjoy your videos a lot. Your comment about someone new to those rifles could shoot accurately with a little instruction sparked a thought. Maybe you do a video showing that concept.
For practicality the DD wins but I still bought the Scar 20 and I’ve got no regrets. Just shopping around for a scope now
Same here!
Same here, I also have HK91 and a PTR91.
My SCAR 20s arrived today!
I would love to see a review of the bergara b14 series. For the price it is amazing. Bergara’s barrels are incredibly precise.
I like my Remington model 700’s but I wouldn’t buy a new Remington with all their QC issues. I like the Bergaras because they are clones of the 700 action.
Can y’all do a video of the Scar H vs the DRD Paratus 18? Please!!
On DD website the barrel twist is given as 1/10 on the .308 and not 1/11
Can you confirm?
Thanks
Love the DD5 V4 in 308, going to be getting one in 6.5 creedmoor just because I can soon.
WARNING: At 12:45 theres a MAN BUN in the making. 🤦♂️
I was wondering Eric if you have ever done a video with 350 legend or might do another brush gun video
Finally a good video
You should do a video on those sick new AirBows coming out. I remember you loved the high powered air rifles, interested to see your review. Cheers.
Uncle Scar: "Long Live The King"
Uncle D-Dog: "Woof!"
I would love to see a review on the scar sc
Yeah I like the comparison vids
Need to do some more ar 10’s. Maybe m14?
DD5V4 wins on mags alone. SCAR is also too heavy and expensive.
On the SCAR, the lower isn't the firearm and can be swapped out for an aftermarket lower that takes SR25 mags.
Heavy??
This
How in the shit is the SCAR too heavy? You obviously have never ever handled one. Please stfu
@@MnRCDad Settle down Karen
I need more videos!
Awesome video Eric. Hey if you can consider the SRS A1 if you have one that might be cool compared to something else. Just a suggestion
@Iraqveteran8888 did you ever purchase the 6.5 CM version of the DD5 v4 would love to see a review and compare the 6.5cm version compared to the 308 and an updated comparison of the scar in 6.5cm too if possible
What do you think of the larue tactical upper kits they sell I cant find much of info on them?
What kind of wrap is that on the suppressors?
Very well done! I’ve been,”LOOKING “ at .308 rifles. I’ve also taking into consideration a Springfield M1A series. Maybe a video in the future about how or how not M1A fits into that group of rifles.
If you ever want a great 16” .308 w/o the heavy ass weight that accompanies large frame rifles, I’d highly suggest POF Revolution DI Or V-Seven Weapons Systems 16” .308. Both under 7lbs for bare rifle & if wisely outfits it you can stay under 9.5-12lbs depending on configuration.
Great video I bought the DD
How do you like it?
F&N too expensive for what you get.
Agreed, I mean FN does make really really good products but their price points are just really ridiculous, it's as if their full of their selves.
Michael Srite HAHAHHAHAHAHAHHA
I don’t think I’d ever own a Scar, I’ve heard too many negative things from people who had to use them.
Ive used a 16, not too impressed, just seemed heavier than necessarry with no real benefit for it
I've heard their not the best for combat and that was coming from a navy seal that used one in Afghanistan, he also said they had feed problems
@@bloodking73 other than the piston system which is way heavier than it needs to be, and the name it doesn't really bring anything to the table other than a cool talking point compared to other comparable platforms IMO.
😂 don’t tell you watched that ONE video from ONE persons experience 😂
Hunter Romano minus durability, parts life, and reliability??
I'm really hoping you guys do the select fire SKS
Wish you guy would compare the DD5 vs Knights Armament SR25
KAC and LMT are the best.
Eyecup falls off the scar literally as you say it is smooth to shoot (8:02) lol. Great video!
DD5 does come in 6,5 Creedmoor. All you have to do is order one. - Ding! ... Ding! from 1200 yards.. now there´s a video i´d like to see. :)
Every time Eric says DD, all I can think of is the Dee Dee Megadoodoo from that news clip on youtube. lol
I thought you were going to say Dexter's laboratory.
What kind of rest are you using in the vedio? I want a good rest for long range shooting.
Iraqveteran8888,
Your Approach to this Video is High Priority Needed, Vital Wisdom!
Great Video. I am on the fence on which AR-10 to buy. I would like to be able to stretch the 308 round out to 800, maybe 1000 yards. Thanks!
@8:06 - Very smooth to shoot as recoil blows off the the eye guard...
Would be nice to see a 10 shot accuracy test on these two on paper 100m
I had no opinion either way, but after watching, think for my needs, I'd have to go with the DD. Love 6.5 but it's expensive.
We need a good, detailed look at 6AR vs 6ARC..... I would actually love to have a DD5 in either of those 6mm cartridges
Love my 20s nrch .308. Compared it to my sig 716 16.25” and ptr91 18” at the range the other day and the scar 20 is significantly softer shooting, more accurate and all around a much more pleasant shooting experience. However, the ptr and sig716 cost 50-75% less. For me and the type of shooting I’ll be doing with a .308 Semi-auto the scar is my favorite.. selling the 716 patrol and Gonna try a brake and a prs stock for for my ptr91 to make it feel more like my scar. Love my hk and hk clones so those won’t be going anywhere
I'd take a DD5V5 6.5 CM 22" Geissele SSA Trigger. I'm sure it's coming.. for another $1000 on top of the V4. My 18" DB10's weigh 14.75# with optic, sling, bipod, and full 25rd PMAGS. As others have mentioned AR10 parts and mag availability cannot be beat. Thanks for showing off your dream come true guns Eric.
I just bought the DD today!
How do you like it?
@@danbo8648 It’s amazing! I added a Radian charging handle and selector.
I was a total SCAR-17 fanboy but after owning one for a while I was disappointed with it in the long run. I’m more interested in a DD5 now. I haven’t shot one yet, but I’m getting the impression more and more that I’ll like it better.
