I'm a former Quality Manager for an AR platform manufacturer. If you want reliability, go mil-spec bolt carrier group. If you want accuracy at distance, simply buy a high quality barrel. You can literally buy a PSA bottom of the barrel AR, switch out the barrel and turn it into a competition shooter. If you want to know the differences in quality, accuracy, etc talk to someone who actually makes them, not someone who just shoots guns.
You’ve peeked my interest with your comment. Was curious which barrel would you recommend for accurate shooting but maybe not competition? Or maybe competition if it’s close in price?
@Wall-E-w7y It's not about the brand. It's about the dimensions. I've inspected multiple barrels from various manufacturers using air gaging, bench centers, and indicators. The most consistent I found were from Daniel Defense. I found others from other manufacturers that were great, too. But their quality control let out of spec barrels pass affecting quality. Most barrels are gundrilled, and it's more difficult to hold straightness at .0002 (which is what anyone should expect for a quality barrel) the longer the barrel is. For my barrels over 18", I take them to a machine shop, throw them on centers, and check them. You'd be surprised at the variation you'll find.
You're welcome. I think I'm going to try to get on one of these gun channels to talk about what people should be looking for when it comes to quality. Why spend thousands of dollars without actually understanding what you're paying for?

I have 3 different 'Blemished' Uppers from them. All for a great bargain. Couldn't find a blemish on two of them. Maybe they considered That to be the defect?🤷🏼♂️ PSA Has a NQA Lifetime Warranty, so maybe the 'Blems' are returns from nitpickers, ...or maybe they're trying to avoid that situation in advance... One of those uppers was not in the box with the other items from that order, even though the shipper said it was supposed to be in the box. I called their CS, and they Overnighted me an upper that literally showed up 24 hours later.👍
Yes, one if the ATF sticking points was that people are shouldering the brace, and using it like a stock. I'm all for it personally...I have a bullet in my left arm so I actually need my brace.

@@KreacherServes No Sir!!! 😄 Compared to what the prices are today they were giving GP WASR-10's away. Some of them were janky out of the box but they were so cheap it was hard to complain.
It's so weird that AKs are the single most mass produced rifle in the world and are known for being cheap and easy to use... but in America they're hipster guns for people who have a few grand to blow who don't want the same AR that everyone else has. I'm glad we live in a day and age where you can get an AR for the same price as what you could get an AK for 20 years ago. It makes it easier for us to share ammo and parts with each other 😂
I used to dislike the amount of velocity you lose from a pistol, but once you factor in how low the recoil is, how flat it shoots and how light the ammo is, it's kind of unmatched.
Because they're in high demand. People want to carry the lightest, smallest thing possible that will save their life in certain situations, so the market makes lighter and smaller tools. They don't always work well, i.e., Glock 43X. So people go after the next best thing that supposedly will work.
You can "shoulder" a brace like you can use a MiniCooper to move lumber (poke it out the window, hatch up). Doesn't mean it was designed for it, you did not redesign or alter the intended use, etc.

That used to require a Class III License a 6 month long Background check, fingerprinted, have the highest ranking law enforcement officer in your county or city sign off on it,plus a $200.00 tax stamp.
I bought a Colt AR15 in Austin Texas for $400 in 1979. It had the forward assist and the cleaning kit in the stock. I kick myself every day for selling it a couple of years later.
I've got 2 Palmetto ARs and they are fantastic (one with a 16" barrel, one with the 7.5" Marauder barrel pistol configuration) and I've only had feed issues with the pistol a handful of times. Turns out, it was the plastic Magpul magazine, not the rifle. I bought a few M4 metal mags....no more feed issues. I have a friend who has a Daniel Defense AR and I'd run my full length PSA against it any day! With the price difference, I can use the leftover $1,000 to buy ammo and more guns!😂
When the first AWB was lifted both AR and AK platform rifles (or “pistols”) were very affordable. I remember I would get Saiga sporting rifles for $250-275 and a kit to make a standard AK for another $50. Built a few of those in various calibers- .223, 5.45, 7.62. I could also get M&P ARs for $500 or so any day of the week. I have numerous builds based on M&P lowers just because for a while I would get a brand new M&P 15 Sport carbine in a hard case with a P mag and MBUS flip ups for like $525 at my local store. To me that was a steal for a reliable AR with the S&W lifetime warranty behind it. I haven’t had any issues, but if I ever do I’ll throw one of the factory A2 style uppers back on and let S&W fix or replace whatever broke. These days that isn’t as practical if you’re doing a build, but you can still find good rifles for cheap.

I got one with no handle and fde furniture for the same price, had it out two weekends ago and out about 200 or so down range. No malfunctions, no complaints
Years ago, I only paid about $500 for my WASR 10, and it came with 10 mags, a bayonet, sling, and 3 or 4 mag pouches. Least I’ve ever put together an AR for is about $350, that was buying a stripped lower, lower parts kit, and a cheap upper from BCA.

You have to like PSA!! I bought their 308 AR10 with the 18inch Stainless barrel that was “Blemished” a while back because I wanted a rifle to keep in our side-by-side. Placed a Primary Arms 1-6 with ACSS on top all for like 800$ just threw a flashlight I had laying around so that didn’t cost anything but I LOVE THAT RIFLE!!! Hell I will most likely hunt with it this year coming up just for the fun of it. Put the thing in a Caldwell lead sled and it shot under an inch with Hornady Black 168gr Amax rds. Have not tried anything else that’s all I have in 308 & surplus stuff but anyway the three 223/556 the 9mm / the AKV 9mm and now the AR10 although all “budget friendly” rifles or pistols, they all work great!! If I had a crowd of zombies running around our property I would probably grab one of the BCMs first but when their barrels got too hot the PSAs are next lol😂 Best regards and God Bless
People forget that 25 - 50% of the price is just for the brand name. Just like Supreme, people buy clothes just for the logo. People buy guns just for the logo. If the engineering is right, the materials are right, and the tolerances are right, then it’s just like any other rifle. The owner of PSA said on a podcast that his rifles aren’t cheap, they’re just reasonably priced. You could pay $1000 for an identical rifle to the PSA.

@American-BadAss732 since when can we not carry ARs or semis?
Pewpew 15 😂❤
why it looks like an M4??
@@williamfloyd4669 Thanks for the info, I’m big fan of Sig but I’m learning to appreciate the DD brand.

Because they're in high demand. People want to carry the lightest, smallest thing possible that will save their life in certain situations, so the market makes lighter and smaller tools. They don't always work well, i.e., Glock 43X. So people go after the next best thing that supposedly will work.
