I love how it jumped from this with Aqua telling the avatar to kill her to Shin megami tensei X Fire Emblem and it's super happy, j-pop, animeness
SonicSimmer I find it funny that this game reminds me more of shin megami tensei than the crossover game does.
The rating could just be for fanservice but there is a possibility that it'll pull a Madoka on us. The lyrics of the first trailer song had some darker subtext.

Ariel Valdez Apparently, Localization takes so long, it becomes overdone. Take Olivia's personality change from the Japanese version of Awakening to the English version. It makes me cringe, really.

I am really interested in the story. It seems the main protagonist is not a purely good guy.
It seems that neither side is necessarily evil; they're two kingdoms with Kamui stuck in the middle.
I love that nothing is really known about the singer/dancer except she plays a crucial role in both stories and she's close with Kamui.
He just lost control. And I think they're pushing Kamui and Aqua pairing(Only if male)

Link of Hyrule What do you mean? Salty because we all globally got XY at the same time and then went back to the crappy Japan gets a game and then the rest of the world has to wait almost a year for it to be translated and localised?
It's stupid. They were able to do it with XY, so why not every game? Surely it doesn't take that long to type up a chunk of dialogue into a game? Why don't they just employ some translators to work alongside developers for the game's development to create multiple games of different languages

People heard that the mechas in Xenoblade X are called Dolls in JP, want a change when the game got to the West as it sounded too girly. Name was changed to Skells, people complained and said that they prefer Dolls.
People saw that the new fire emblem game was going to be called Fire Emblem IF in JP, people complained, saying that it is the dumbest title ever created and wanted a change of name for the West. Name was changed to Fire Emblem Fates. People raged, saying that IF is better than Fates.
History as repeated itself. This is why we can't have nice things!

And then when the next generation comes, the previously reviled generation suddenly becomes totally acceptable though never beating the first. You just know that if they were swapped about, the exact same things would be said.

Captain Karnage I think this year Nintendo has some good games for very different public. Starfox for nostalgic, Mario Maker for builders, Xenoblade for adrenaline players, even Mario Tenis for casuals. To me, Nintendo is trying new and fun stuff, meanwhile the other guys are bringing more of the same. (In fact, I would swear every Xbox game is the same game in a different environment).

In Japan, it has been confirmed that the Player Avatar, given the default name of Kamui in their version, can transform into a dragon-like creature. But from what has been seen in the cut-scene trailers, he/she has barely any control over that form, and can accidentally hurt others, as seen with the blue-haired dancer/singer girl, who's Japanese name is Aqua.

I love the whole story of choosing a side. It adds another layer of depth. I hope they keep the marriage system. I feel like I was the only one who actually enjoyed that feature.

the game was sold in two different ways. each game has a different story and gameplay to it. I understand it would be more expensive to fuse the two games into one. but it is so difficult.
That's just for Japan. The Western release will have it just be one game and the player chooses which side to fight with/against (depending on which side the player chooses) after chapter 6 in the story.

swordmaster101 Well, who's to say. Honestly, from my perspective, Fire Emblem is still a niche series, even with Awakening giving it more attention.
Nintendo said a Wii U Fire Emblem would have to sell 800,000 units to be successful. The last 2 console Fire Emblem games, Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, didn't even come close to that.
I don't know if Fire Emblem is something people would buy a Wii U for. I would certainly love it if that were the case though.
I'm not sure if y'all have noticed yet but the girl who voices Azura is doing an excellent job for not having a prior voice acting role

I believe FE Fates will be a really good FE game, storywise. Any hardcore FE fan would know from the very beginning of the series up to Awakening, that: Main character meets avatar, bandits raid, war starts, running away from the enemy troops, time skip, get the fire emblem/get the legendary weapon, new antagonist resurrecting some evil/god/dragon/demon thing Heroes prevail. The formula on the story is the same, and too damn repetitive. This one actually has sides to choose, and the story looks more detailed. But we won't know until we actually play the game, but for the most part it really does stand out, and they finally have classes with the Japanese warrior lineage, definitely interesting take.
from what I know of the plot(up to around chapter 4, I've been told 5 has spoilers and 6 is the chapter you have to 'choose') it's a super good premonition with really good characters. I've heard the plot is much better than other FE games and as a FE veteran i like the new changes(stat debuffs, penalties with using better weapons, not being able to break the game nearly as easily, even they op characters have flaws, like I hear Xander is a mobile wall and hits hard at 1-2 range with his personal sword but he has speed deficiencies if you raise him normally and don't RNG abuse). It's taking everything I liked about Awakening(I liked the characters in Awakening and the art style but little else tbh) but giving it a really good plot, better than all the FE games seemingly except maybe Jugdral and the combat system looks like the best one of any I've played.(I've played FE4/6/7/8/9/10/13/I think shadow dragon is 11?)
Hydrentine Yeah Shadow Dragon is 11 which covers book 1 of Marth's story and FE12 is like book 2 or something like that. I've played FE: 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11 and 13 (awakening).
Radiant Dawn broke the story formula pretty hard IMO... then again, that was pretty much a direct sequel, so...

For me it's really hard to choose a side because ' not just thinking on 'kill birth family? Or kill family that raised you for basically your whole life?', but also 'do i want to keep grinding fights just to stand a chance in the next mission? Or do i want to be prepared for wvery fight, but know thay they all will be difficult?'
I feel like these are just two of many other questions with fellow gamers looking to finally be able to play this game.

"Fates"... you're gonna call it "Fates"... I thought this game poses a "what if" question. The concept of it being about fate implies the opposite of branching paths but whatever.

You _are_ aware that none of the definitions of the word fate support your argument, right? Nowhere in it's definition does fate even imply that it's "simply an outcome" or that it's "up to you" or that it's in any way related to choice. Everything about the definition of the word implies what you assert is not there; predetermination. That's why I say it seems like an odd title.

Yes, a big sense of the word "fate" stems from the original notion of the Fates, who controlled an inevitable and often adverse outcome, condition, or end. But there's also room for phrases like someone "sealing their own fate" with a bad choice, or making a bad "ill-fated decision."
I'm not arguing that there's no room for a meaning for some destined lot of circumstances that befall you beyond your control. I'm just saying that within "fate" bears room for "an outcome determined by will" as well.
I _clearly_ gave room for both meanings there.
SuperGamer87 As much as I'd enjoy seeing who can out-pretense the other, we'll have to agree to disagree since fate just doesn't mean what you're saying it does in my personal experience and opinion. One thing though, you didn't _clearly_ leave room for both meanings at all, you directly disassociated predetermination in the beginning. I think the take away here is that fate is flexible in definition and could feasibly be used as a subtitle to this game, so that's good to know.

If you smoke three packs of cigarettes a day for years, and eventually develop cancer, you can say that they "sealed their own fate."
If you put in a resume at a job, and you qualify well enough, you might retort that you're probably going to get the job "if the fates allow."
There's still a sense with "fate" (even if a lesser-used sense) where action directs your outcome. I'm simply acknowledging that sense.
But I won't agree to disagree here. I can leave knowing that I showed the exception.
Awakening may have been my first game, but every time I've seen my brother play any FE game I've loved it. This series is amazing, and I can't wait for these games!

ProsecutorZero I think it wouldn't be possible to fit both games on a single 3DS cartridge. The games appear to be very extensive now, so I don't mind having two different FE at once at all. It's not like it is going to be like Pokemon X and Y.

Marcos Neto My whole opinion on this whole "Fire Emblem If/Fates 2 versions" thing is I don't really see the purpose of having 2 versions. Now before you go and say "well both paths are basically 2 completely different games both story and gameplay wise" I would like to say is that since the game's reveal Nintendo and intelligent systems have been saying how the "choice" is the most impacting aspect of the game, it just seems like the entire purpose of the choice is non existent because depending on what you buy you the player on a designated path that's predetermined by your purchase. I mean let's say someone buys the Hoshido path and before chapter 6 (the chapter where the "choice" is suppose to take place in) they like the Nohr characters more and what to side with them, guess what they can't because the version they bought only allows them to side with Hoshido no matter what. You see the how that just throws the entire aspect of having a "choice" mechanic in a game. I have heard from varies websites that it will be split for the worldwide release but until Nintendo themselves go out and confirm i still hope they will combine it as 1 game

I really enjoyed Fire Emblem Awakening. It was my first ever fire emblem game. I Hope Our created character is still available in the new games. Really enjoyed the story-line for the last game. So I hope there is bonus data available in the new games for completing Awakening.

+Desmond D. Customisable Avatar, yes- but it's not the same one as from Awakening. Completely different class sets and abilities. Your character is also THE main character here, as opposed to a sideline person to Chrom and Lucina.
The default male version of the Awakening player character (same on that shows up in Smash Bros) is available to use via AmiiBo or DLC. Can't remember which.
+PumpJack McGee Well from what I've heard here and there, there WILL be some Awakening characters available as some DLC, though I'm not sure if that means we can recruit them or if we just take them on like those DLC's from Awakening where your team fights against every known Fire Emblem character, good and bad
