It was amazing seeing Calvin's reaction to Sutekh, knowing he's a big fan of Tom Baker's era! Russell knows how to set up a truly phenomenal cliffhanger! I was squealing in my seat upon Sutekh's name being revealed! The music alone was very haunting and I honestly love Sutekh's new design in the modern era. A more polished and animalistic version to display his dominion in the most atrocious way possible. It was so nice to hear Gabriel Woolf return for Sutekh's voice! *BRING ON EMPIRE OF DEATH!* 🤩💚

I heard the voice tease and I said that sounds like Sutekh. And felt more excited than I was on the original return of the Master because I was 99% sure about that.
I did not expect Sutekh. It made me incredibly happy.
In the Impossible Planet/Satan Pit I wanted the reference to Sutekh and was let down they didn’t.
Also, there are extras on the DVD for Pyramids of Mars that were voiced by Gabriel Woolf and they are very amusing.

27:39 “The Trickster” is actually an already established character in the Whoniverse. He appeared in several episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures - even facing off with David Tennant’s 10th Doctor during a crossover - he is known to completely change time/make new timelines, he can “save” people from death by making bargains, and even swap a living person for a dead person to make so someone never died. He is known to be a apart of “The Pantheon of Discord” which includes The Toymaker, Maestro etc., but also has his own “Trickster’s Brigade” that follows him.

I originally thought Sutekh attached to the TARDIS when the Doctor went back to save baby Ruby from the goblins. But people have pointed out that the TARDIS was making the weird noises all the way back in Wild Blue Yonder, which is also the first episode we saw Sue (talking to Isaac Newton)... so it's been longer than that.
Gabriel Woolf is the original Sutekh, yes... but there's even more connections between Sutekh and the Beast from the Satan Pit. Not only is it the same actor, but the Beast said he had many names, including Satan... and in the Pyramids of Mars, they said Sutekh has many names, including Satan. So it's possible the Beast and Sutekh are somehow the same entity, the same being. Especially when you consider the way he puppeted Harriet was extremely similar to the way the Beast puppeted people in the Impossible Planet.
I'm hoping Mrs. Flood is secretly Tefnut. She's not been in the Whoniverse yet, but the Osirans (the species Sutekh is) are the basis of the Egyptian pantheon in the Whoniverse. In the Egyptian myths, Tefnut is Sutekh's grandmother -- and the goddess of rain and humidity. Rain, flood? Connections? So she'd know when Sutekh was returning. Not to mention, that would also be a connection to Ruby, since a goddess of rain is the closest you get to a goddess of snow from a desert culture.

"The one who waits." implies to me he's been waiting a very very long time, otherwise it's not exactly a good title for a character in a show where the main character is thousands of years old.
"Yeah I hunkered down for a few years, lotta waiting that!"
Maybe vicinity to one of the Susans just set off his return. Or his invoking superstition again.

Loved this reaction, so glad Calvin remembered who Sutekh was. Davina McCall hosts a show called Long Lost Family, which traces members of families that were separated for various reasons like adoption or moving to other countries and have become lost to time, there's also spin offs of the programme, one of which is Born Without Trace, that traces the birth families of foundlings, so that was the kind of programme that Ruby was on in The Church on Ruby Road with Davina McCall. Born Without Trace was the inspiration behind Russell T Davies making Ruby a foundling adoptee, on top of the fact that the Doctor is a foundling adoptee too. I was great that in the Time Window Ruby had someone by her side who completely understood her, and could feel her pain and desperation. As an adoptee myself, it made me really happy when Carla showed compassion and understanding to Ruby's birth mother, if that's who it is.

I've thought from the Christmas episode that Mrs. Flood is Susan.
And in this episode The Doctor says "We can change our face if we are dying. Or to hide away."
Mrs. Flood says something like "It feels sometimes like I have been hiding away forever."

I really like how the fact the tardis is part of Sutekh’s plan now means they have no ‘safe place.’ Anymore. They can’t run and hide through time or space, at least, not very far, and the very thing the doctor spends a long time assuring the companion and the audience throughout the show is unbreakable and completely safe *becomes* part of the horror, it just cements the fact that they are not safe

Sutekh attacked the TARDIS when it landed on the ship with the Not Things (Wild Blue Yonder), which is the 1st time the TARDIS moans & the last time the cloister bell tolls. I think the TARDIS ran away, trying to shake Sutekh, like it did Captain Jack.
The Doctor says his children haven't been born, yet. Ruby's mother is "the Kind Woman" in next week's episode. She's River. Mrs. Flood is Susan.

Kate addresses one UNIT character as Sullivan, a reference to Harry Sullivan, a 4th Doctor companion.
Another UNIT character is Colonel Ibrahim, a reference to Sutekh's servant Ibrahim in _Pyramids of Mars_ (1975).
Mel was of course a 6th/7th Doctor companion from 1986-87.
The Toymaker appeared in _The Celestial Toymaker_ (1966) and _The Giggle_ (2023).
The Trickster appeared in The Sarah-Jane Adventures three times from 2007-09, once with the 10th Doctor.
The Mara appeared in _Kinda_ (1982) and _Snakedance_ (1983).
The Doctor's granddaughter Susan was a 1st Doctor companion even before he left Gallifrey, before the show began, and left in _The Dalek Invasion of Earth_ (1964).
And of course Sutekh himself. "I bring Sutekh's gift of death" is a direct quote from _Pyramids of Mars._

So apart from Sutekh, The Toymaker and Maestro two other villains were confirmed to be members of the Pantheon by Harriet. The Mara is a classic who villain which she called the god of beasts and The Trickster is a Sarah Jane Adventures villain, pretty much the at show's main villain, which she called the god of traps. That also mean the Pantheon as a group were first mentioned by the 10th Doctor in a Sarah Jane Adventures episode, The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith, when he revealed that The Trickster was a member of a group called the Pantheon of Discord.

Set is an Ancient Egyptian God, though he was also known as "Seth" and "Sutekh"
He was not the god of death, rather he was the god of mischief, the desert, disorder, warfare, the sky, and storms.
It is unknown for sure what animal he is depicted as, theories include a donkey, an aardvark, and even an African Wild Dog. It is now simply referred to as the "Set Animal" or "Sha".
Due to the fact he is the embodiment of chaos, Set is not a demon, nor is he evil. It's more complicated than that. He is simply a force of nature. The Egyptians feared him, but also respected him, especially during times of War when they prayed to him for strength and protection.
Set was also, at one time, depicted assisting Ra in killing the giant Serpent, Apep.
Osiris and Anubis, on the other hand, are the Ancient Egyptian Gods associated with death, with Anubis being a guardian and guide to the deceased, and Osiris being the ruler of the Underworld.

Osiris and Anubis are guide to the deceased and ruler of the deceased, then?
Sutekh, as the god of disorder, could easily have reign over the transitionary process of death however, since what could kill someone faster than a sudden increase in their entropy? (I.e. mixing up the atoms in their body). Also provides a method for him to bring general ruin to the earth, rather than just killing organic matter.

Not only do they have similar themes and are voiced by the same VA, but since The Beast described himself as the embodiment of evil itself across all religions, and Sutekh just listed off his various "death god" names across different pantheons, its safe to say they are essentially the same entity taking on different corporeal forms.

Someone pulled a freeze frame of the scene with what they think is Ruby’s mom, you can see a partial face and it appears to be a woman and she looks like the actress that played Susan (granddaughter) but younger, her hands aren’t old so it’s either her from another time period or it’s the actress that played Susan in Adventures in Time or it’s a red herring. I thought there was only one Harbinger but every Pantheon member has their own Harbinger apparently. There are three members of the Pantheon who sit at the top, Sutekh, the King, the Queen and a bunch of other members we either met in old Who or haven’t met yet, who is Mrs Flood and who has she been hiding from, “I hide myself away”? We know Tom Baker trapped Sutekh and destroyed his physical body but in the books it came back as energy without form and attacked the Sylvester McCoy Doctor and was locked away again, how’d it get out 🤔, when did it get out? We now know “Susan” appeared everywhere the Doctor went because Sutekh was latched to the Tardis and she is a projection of Sutekh, did it attach to this Doctor’s Tardis or the other Doctor’s and it hoped over when they split? So many questions, it’s been awhile since I felt this intense an interest in Doctor Who, when I was a kid I used to watch it on PBS on a small black and white in my room, then I got a color tv and I was locked in for life. An actual run through storyline that’s complicated and when you get reveals you go, oh yeah, it’s beyond awesome how they’ve gone back in the lore and history 😊😊😊😊 so happy. Long live the ruler of the disco sarcophagus, Sutekh god of death. 💀⚰️⚱️
