For anybody watching this please make sure you disassemble the laptop and disconnect the battery power prior to disconnecting any other wires. Also do not use conductive metal pry tools. Use nylon spudgers. Also do not work on the screen while it's attached to the bottom half of the frame. Disassemble and remove the top LCD Assembly completely and then work on it by itself.... It will be much easier
ruclips.net/video/Ys-QskpjzfQ/видео.html
I've done so many of these and it's never been an issue.
@@ItsBinhRepaireddoesn't matter, it's due diligence
Sure, if you want to make more work for yourself. There are certain things that don't require battery removal. If you watch enough of my videos you'll see.
6 screws to remove the bottom cover, 4 more to undo the hinges, and then unplug the video cable and wifi antennas. Then you can work on the Top lid by itself on the desk. I'm working on the same exact issue on this model right now, thanks for the tip for the stretch release adhesive, I had no idea how I was going to get the LCD out. I have a new LCD lid on order.
Make sure to disconnect the battery and hold the power button 15 seconds before doing that.
Very useful...Got simple solution thank you very much
@@msridhars007 no problem
Thank you.
I was really struggling to work out how the screen was fixed in place after I removed the screws. Been in IT for over 30 years and never come across this but then I don't normally service laptops.
I owe you a beer
Yup, bad design. I don't drink, but I do have venmo, zelle, and PayPal in the description of the video. Bubble milk tea works as well. Haha
@@ItsBinhRepaired I need help finding that top casing for a lenovo idea pad 5 areo5 15 inch
Worth more than a beer! If you don't realize it before removing the bezel that there is adhesive behind it and you break the bezel and/or the screen you owe the customer more than a beer. That's how I look at these videos.
I hate how RUclips doesn't notify me of replies. Were you able to figure it out?
Hahaha true
I removed the screen bezel using thin guitar plectrums to carefully remove it because it’s glued in place. The back of the old screen was glued hard with double sided tape. A hair dryer can be used to heat up the double sided tape, but I used the guitar plectrums on the edges of the old screen, then a long knife to unstick the double sided tape that was holding the screen onto the top lid of the laptop. I’m not sure how you removed the connector of the old screen, but I used a hair dryer to unstick the black tape on the bottom of the old screen, then lifted up the wire of the clip connector and detached the old damaged screen. I now have to order a new screen based on the correct part numbers. I’ve never pulled apart one of these Lenovo screens in the past to know how it came apart or how to fit the new screen. I hope I can locate a suitable new replacement screen, then re-assemble it all. No damage at all to the hinges or anything at all so far.
This is the video you want ruclips.net/video/8R1br8tv2k0/видео.html
Do you know If I can buy the screen as well as the top cover plastic part on aliexpress?
Possibly. Not sure
The adhesive on the back is usually stretch release and has a pull tab to stretch it. The screen model number should be on a sticker on the back.
Thanks mate 🙏
Glad it helped. If you haven't already, don't forget to like and subscribe so others can find my videos. Thanks

Terrible quality thus thing broke by itself in eight months
Very bad hinge design
Same thing happened with me
Yesterday mine also broken itself😢..I'm searching about the reason here
@bhanuteja_04 bad design
@@ItsBinhRepairedjust recently bought one a few months ago. Now the hinge broke. I was supposed to use it for college which starts this year. Never buying lenovo again
I just placed an order for IdeaPad pro 5, does it have the same hinge issue? Really worried about its quality, should buy a Thinkpad instead.
I'm not sure
Thank you for sharing. Do you think JB welding the hinge bracket directly to the screen without putting the screws back on will hold up? Trying to avoid putting screws all the way through the screen.
Yup, no screws
what i dont like about the design is. the exhaust where the hot air go out is where you display placed unlike the lenovo legion the exhaust are in back of the display
and i sure hope the legion version the one i bought
I see
Thanks for the video. Could you please indicate the replacement bezel model? I am confused trying to find it

Same hinge issue here. I am not “techy” but your video is great. I was able to disassemble and find the bad hinge. Is that what you are calling a bezel? Where would I buy a new one?
The front frame is the bezel
Have the same laptop and im watching this because it came off for the second time as well lol
Yeah, it sucks
@@ItsBinhRepaired after opening it up I found some damage in the hinge area on the screen part any tips? (the parts that screws attach to are broken off completely)

Terrible design
Hello sir. Thanks a lot for the effort. Just wanted to know one thing. Is the screen a matte one with a diffuser layer laminated over it or does it have a Anti glare coating which wears off easily?
Any help on this will be highly appreciated.
I'm going to assume the first one, but no idea.

Hello thank you for the video... I broke the hinges on this model my screen seems to be screwed to the back cover at the sides but I don't see how to remove the screws because they are not visible.
now I fixed that but the webcam does not fit on the new cache and when I type my password to access the desktop the keyboard does not work while in the restore options it is all right ... there any trick to change this?
It's not screws, it's stretch release adhesive.
Never heard of these issues. Are you sure it's not in pin mode and only numbers can be typed?
Do you know the part number for the screen replacement, my screen cracked and I cant figure out what to get. mine was also the touch screen version. Thanks
It's on the back of the lcd panel itself.
Thanks for this video. Mine just had this happen on the Right Hand side. it'll cost £100 to get Lenovo to fix it - it's a bad design as the gold coloured threaded inserts work their way loose. i'm yet to investigate an actual fix
Jbweld is the only way
Epoxy or super glue. I have this exact laptop, same thing happened on the right hinge. I don’t know why metal inserts were clamped into plastic sockets. Stupid
The original jbweld steel epoxy
The fix - I drilled a few small holes in the lid of the case and have bolted the brackets in place.
I’ll need to reinforce it with some thick viscous epoxy glue at some point as the hinge is failing in a different location now.
Really frustrating fault for an otherwise excellent value laptop
@@BleughBleugh yeah...
Great video but i am having a issue where the back bit is popping out and the moniter is kind of broken as well any way to fix it?
Likely have to replace
Great video! My laptop is the same model and it has this issue too and i think the hinge has got seperated from the back cover. now its bezel has broken :(
also there is a kind of flat gray cable behind the left hinge and some of it has teared apart but the laptop works without issue.what is that flat cable for?is it dangerous to leave it like this?what can i do?

You want to get the screen model number. It's on the back of the screen.
Hi! I just encoutered this problem last night and I have the exact same laptop. I'm bringing it today to the nearest lenovo support store. Do you think I have to pay a lot of money?(a 14 year old kid) I saw a cracked black piece inside the hinges.

i also have the same problem with the same exact model after 8 months of usage. i contacted customer service and spoke to a live agent. they asked me to send pictures of the problem and the next day I already got a call from them asking for my location so they can schedule a repair at/near my house. the parts are already in transit, i'm just waiting for it to arrive. they told me it is under warranty. the laptop came with 3 years of lenovo premium warranty when i purchased it.

Usually no, you'll have to ask the seller
My screen is kind of at risk and i dont want to do it myself and break the whole thing do i need to go to a laptop fixing place?
If you can't, the other places will likely replace the whole top.
sir my laptop model also same and my display got broken and i tried my displays but am getting saturation when i see about 90 degrees angle . why its happening sir
Broken hinges putting pressure on the screen
What is the reason behind broken hinge?I have not damaged the model but still it broke
Bad design. Imagine holding a chopstick in your hand and then try rotating it vs twisting it. The hinge is too thin and only has screws going along the length. Not enough leverage to hold it well.
Struggeling with it, lets try youtube :) whats up with the glue. Got it I was so close :) thank you

Open the bezel and disconnect it.
What will be the cost of replacing the bezel you removed?
The plastic? Not sure, but the hinge needs to be repaired before even considering that.
Slim chance but anyone know if the touchscreen can be put in the non-touch model? The model I have is the i7-1165G7 model just below the model that comes with a touchscreen
Nope.
@@ItsBinhRepaired nope as in you don’t know or nope as in won’t work?
@Jakob Stocker pretty sure it won't work. The pin layout is different.
Hello good day, excuse my English. The same happened to me. Although my equipment was not damaged from the screen, it even turned on and worked, but when repairing the hinges they tell me that the screen was damaged, I don't understand. Did they repair badly or are they stealing from me?
They probably broke it while trying to replace it.
Or maybe broke during shipping.
Hello, I took it personally and when I delivered it, the screen turned on and the touch worked, they repaired the hinges and the screen is intact, only it no longer gives video. There is still hope? Thanks bro
They mention to me that it is probably the screen flex or the screen itself... but can that happen when I deliver it with a functional screen and without breaking?
@@josuebenitez4144 I think they fried the screen backlight circuit...D:

Yup, bad design.
I think i broke mine on my own, maybe not, but the screen just uhm -
Doesn't work.
I got it march 27th of this year, and after struggling to get a bit of the charger that broke off out of the port, the screen stopped working.
Could be a motherboard issue, could be a different issue - who knows man
I sure don't.........
But i replaced the EDP cable thinking it'd help - waiting on the laptop to charge to see of it did.
Hmmmm

Thank you
Jbweld. Nothing else is strong enough. You can use it as a desktop
I just send it to a good repair in my City and they said it will cost max 30$ depend on the time we spend(so it may be even cheaper)
Is it worthy buying a New Bazel(as a spare part) or with the repair it will hold stronger than a normal new part?
If it's the hinge coming apart, if done right, it'll hold better than the original.
@@ItsBinhRepaired Hi my bezel cracked right next to the camera. Do you think I should leave it? The laptop seems to be functioning as normal. I didn't drop it or knock it and just woke up to a cracked bezel.
My model, a Lenovo Laptop. The adhesive kinda gave out and the hinges won't move upwards more. So can't open my laptop, and I can see the insides of it and saw the upper back part opening up. fml
Are you sure it's not the hinge that separated from the back?

My screen doesn't turn on no more, but if I connect an HDMI cable it works on the external monitor. I have no backlight on the corner of the screen either.
Sounds like the hinge damaged it
@@ItsBinhRepaired the camera on the upper side of the screen still work, I wonder if I should only change the connector or the whole screen?
@@Babas013 sounds like the screen, but I'd need to see it to know for sure. Upload a video to your youtube channel and I'll check.
I sent Lenovo a picture of the problem. They said it is physical damage. It is not under warranty. They closed my case. so bad.
Send them my RUclips video lol
Don't follow this video! The semi-round part that covers the hinges is separate from the bezel. You have to remove this first (and it's a pain in the neck to do it) and then remove the 3 silver colored screws at the bottom of the bezel to release it undamaged. following this video will break those screw sockets and make re-assembly a big glue job mess.
