    This is a Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15IMH05
    screen replacement guide.
    For the replacement process we’ll need the following tools:
    -Heat Gun
    -Plastic picks
    To begin turn the laptop off by pressing and holding the power button.
    Start removing the bezel. Start from the left side then using both hands
    go around the perimeter unsnapping the tabs underneath. Put the bezel aside.
    The LCD screen is glued to the plastic cover. We need a Heat Gun to soften
    the glue. Warm up right and left sides of the top cover. Using plastic pick start
    gently separating the LCD screen. Use the Heat Gun repeatedly on both sides to
    make sure the glue is soft. Separate the LCD screen and place it on the keyboard.
    Use a plastic pick to open the connector’s bracket. Disconnect the video cable.
    Discard the old screen.
    Take the new LCD screen and place it on the keyboard. Reconnect the video
    connector. Close the connector’s bracket.
    CAUTION! It is very important not to force any connectors.
    As well you must not twist or slant the connector when plugging it in.
    Now it is a good time to test the new screen.
    Lift the screen up and press the power button. If start-up graphics appears we can finish
    the installation process.
    Your new display is likely to come with no adhesive. We offer standard double-sided
    tape for such repairs on our site: lapptopscreen.com
    Peel off the old adhesive strips from the back cover. Use alcohol and a piece of cloth
    to clean the back side of the new LCD screen and the inner surface of the top cover.
    Apply the new strips of adhesive on the back cover. Lift the screen up and using a fine
    microfibre cloth apply pressure to the display along the edges to catch the adhesive.
    Remove the protective film. Using plastic pick pull back hinge cover to make room for
    the bezel. Replace the bezel. Start from the bottom making sure that the bezel goes
    behind the hinge cover. Then go around the perimeter snapping the tabs back in place.
    Wipe the screen with alcohol and fine microfibre cloth, turn the laptop on and we are done!

    Hi my laptop has a 120hz screen can I change it to 144hz? Is it compatible? Also I don't know if it's 130 pin or 140 pin if my laptop has 120hz screen does it mean it has 30pin or 40 pin?

    • @Laptopscreen
      @Laptopscreen  Год назад +1

      You won't notice much difference between 120Hz and 144Hz LCD, but you can do it if your original is a 40-pin screen. We sell the 144Hz version here: www.laptopscreen.com/2846762/

      There is a 144Hz for IdeaPad Gaming 3, but it has a 40-pin connector. You would need to upgrade your video cable from the mobo to the LCD before you could use it, because likely your current cable is only 30-pin. There are LCDs that can do 120Hz on 30-pin (anything higher requires more pins), but not in the mounting format that IdeaPad Gaming 3 could accommodate.

    I followed this guide, but the laptop won’t even turn on. There was a small arc when I disconnected the old display. After I put the new display the laptop won’t turn on, moreover even when I plug in charger the indicator won’t light.
    In the video you didn’t mention if you have to disconnect the battery from the motherboard. Because in service centre, the guy said you have to as this is some kind of “problem” of Lenovos
    I don’t know if I short circuited it, but just letting you know

    I have a model that has 60Hz display. However, I know that other products of the same model have 120Hz display. Is it possible to replace a 60Hz display for a 120Hz display?

    • @Laptopscreen
      @Laptopscreen  16 дней назад

      Yes, but you would also need a different LCD cable. The 120Hz uses 40-pin on the LCD side, you have a 30-pin cable, and most likely the cables are all the same on the motherboard side.

      Upgrades are typically easy between screens that share the same interface connector. In your case it would not be easy since the connectors are different. You may need to get a "hinge up" top assembly, with all connecting cables.

    Hello. I have this laptop for around a year now but recently it has developed a weird white spot on the screen (pixels glow intensely around this small area). This is persistent even in BIOS. Do you know what caused this? I can get it replaced but I wish to know what caused this as this gets covered under ADP (accidental damage protection). I use it with extreme care.
    Thanks.

    • @Laptopscreen
      @Laptopscreen  6 дней назад +1

      Not a very common defect. If it isn't a weird sort of crack, it could be a pressure-spot, where the screen didn't get cracked but was pushed on by something pointy too hard. Or a dead-bright-pixel blob, which is even less common. But in any case, an LCD would have to be replaced if it is damaged, no way to fix such concerns on the original LCD. Maybe you could snap a picture and send to support at laptopscreen.com, for more certainty.

    • @Laptopscreen
      @Laptopscreen  8 месяцев назад

      Maybe, if you can get a 40-pin LCD cable for your laptop. 60Hz panels are usually 30-pin, 144Hz+ all 40-pin. The connector on the mobo side is usually always the same and works with either 30-pin or the 40-pin cables.

    First of all thank you for the amazing tutorial. Great to know its a DIY process and easy.👍
    I have a couple of questions. I have the gtx 3060 165hz model of the Ideapad Gaming 3.
    Unfortunately the top cover is made by a weak plastic and is flexible. Because the design of the cover and the keyboard layout, the screen is scratched by the small bump between the mousepad and the keyboard.(really bad industrial design)
    If lenovo doesn't change the screen via guarantee(its been 6 months) I have to do it myself.
    - Can you redirect me to find the platform to buy the lcd panel? (I'm in Turkey so finding a distributor for the panel is tough)
    - Can you redirect me to a platform that offers a glass/ceramic protector on top of it so it doesn't get scratched again.
    Cheers

    DON'T WIPE THE SCREEN WITH ALCOHOL!
    You will likely damage the protective coating. Use distilled water or a non alcohol based screen cleaning solution.

    • @Laptopscreen
      @Laptopscreen  11 месяцев назад

      Ugh, that's an OK advice, but what you really shouldn't be using on the screen is windex or any acetone based cleaners. Alcohol is not commonly known for damaging LCD coatings, we have over a decade of experience with it.

    • @IWillBrutalyRemoveYourBalls

      @@Laptopscreen High concentration alcohol can damage the screen, acetone based solutions will not only damage the screen but it can also eat away plastics
      My sister in law cleaned her laptop with acetone and destroyed her keyboard entirely,I had to replace the keyboard and top case.

    • @Laptopscreen
      @Laptopscreen  10 месяцев назад

      @@IWillBrutalyRemoveYourBalls As far as we're concerned, one of the very few known screen coatings that could be damaged by alcohol were the MacBook Pro 'staingate' laptops, whose coating could be damaged even by finger oil. We've sold millions of screens since 2008, and naturally sometimes we have to receive returns, and all of them are rigorously cleaned with the 80% alcohol solution, and aside from the previously mentioned 'staingate' screens, all other LCDs take it very well.
