I am new to your channel but i enjoy your explanation videos of all the comparison and laptop specifications. Can you create a video of how to keep your laptop healthy? I mean what are the best way to increase life of laptop . Like battery issue, Burn damage, performance issue over time, etc. I am not mentioning water damage because it's obviously unpredictable scenerio but still it will be better if you can explain what to do for liquid damage.

Hey Jarrod! I'm trying to find a laptop that would be able to handle Blender and also work as a laptop for normal schoolwork that has a decent battery life. A little bit on the budget side but I think anything would be better than my 2015 Macbook Pro. Been looking at the Lenovo Legion 5/5 Pro or maybe the Acer Nitro 5 but thought I should ask if you have any recommendations since you are more knowledgable than I am
I recently bought the Ryzen5 6600H 32gb DDR5 with 30504gb Gddr5 1tb nvme, ram came in single channel put in a second 32gb ram stick and on a cooling pad under heavy use the Temps have yet to rise above 61 after replacing thermal paste, the dual channel was a significant gain in fps and the 6core 12 thread has yet to take more than 60% load for 1 thousand dollars im not complaining
hello, is there any chance you could run passmarks direct 3d 9 test, the one with the planes. i have this laptop in the 16" qhd version, still with a 3050ti but also a 12700h and theyve listened to you as it has 2x 8gb sticks. anyway im getting bad artifacts on that test but not on furmark or 3dmark. ive had a similar situation with an RX580 that was bad, so im worried this laptop needs to be fixed.

I recently bought the i5 12500H and 3050Ti model. I am experiencing battery drain while plugged in when playing high and demanding games like rdr2 on ultra. I have a 170W charger. How is your i7 not draining more
I got the same laptop but with i7-12700H, 3050Ti, upgraded ram to 32GB and added an extra NVME SSD. My only gripe is that there is ALOT of extra space internally near the battery, where they could have offered an upgradable battery. The battery this laptop comes with is tiny and seeing all the unused space next to it, I'm annoyed there isn't an upgrade option with parts.

The 3050 fits my needs just fine so the only concern is upgrading the RAM and maybe a HDD. The Ryzen 5 5600h is also pretty nice.

The one I just got has a 6600H and 3050Ti, it's ran everything I've tried so far. Even plays MSFS2020 and RE4 Remake decent.

You should also mention that only the intel cpu will get up to rtx 3060. The amd cpu is limited to the rtx3050 and rtx3050ti

Micro Center currently has the AMD version of this with a 6800H, 3050 and 16GB of RAM for $749. I picked one up for my high schooler. I really wish I could have gotten him one with a 3060, but laptops with 3060s all seem to be at least $500 more.

Hi, I have this same laptop with Intel core i7 12th gen. It’s going to be a year since I bought. The battery life is so bad but it’s my first time using a high processor laptop so maybe I’m being dramatic idk.
Since yesterday the laptop’s backlight is not turning on. It’s rgb but, none of the light setup is not turning on. I tried restarting it multiple times but it’s still the same. Idk what went wrong 😭😭 help

I have a question, when upgrading my ram to dual channel do I need to buy 2 sticks again or only 1 and still use the stock ram on my laptop as long as the new ram is the same ddr4 3200. Lastly, is it fine to mix brands cuz i can't find the same ram that is already installed to make it the same
you can just buy the same spec ram as you already have, brand shouldnt matter much
a point to be made is that the ideapad gaming 3 model is shipped with a slow x16 rank ram as opposed to x8 rank ram which found in hp pavilion and such... this will ultimately cause bottleneck/performance drop in fps. so even if you add another stick 8gb stick with x8 rank, your system will always prioritize the x16 rank stick which will leave you with 70-90% performance of it's full potential. to resolve this issue and make use of your ram correctly, it's best to take out the pre installed stick and install 2 8gb with x8 rank.
Mixing brands is okay in my experience. Mixed Samsung with Kingston to no problems.
Keep in mind that for example, if you have DDR4-2133 and DDT4-2666 in slots #1 and #2 respectively, both RAMs will always run at DDR4-2133. No matter the maximum speed, both RAMs will always be bottlenecked by the minimum speed, I think.
If RAM capacity is your target, this is the way.
If RAM speed is also your target and money is not an option, you can grab the 2-in-1 RAMs either the 2x4GB or 2x8GB sticks running at equal speeds.

I got this laptop (3050Ti version) with a 6600H and added another stick of 8GB DDR5 Crucial RAM at 4800Mhz and now it runs everything I've thrown at it.
How about the temperature?
i have this laptop, the problem with battery drain is indeed due to a low power charger. Mine came with a 135 W, and when using the RTX GPU battery started to drain no mater if it was plugged to electricity. Just bougth the 230 W charger and the problem is fixed.
is there any throttling when the battery is low and laptop is plugged in? is there a setting to use power only from the adapter and not from the battery? thanks.

Choose legion IF u are hardcore gamer, bc the tgp rtx 3050 is 95W
If u Need ur laptop for mobile and casual game (U can play heavy game too but 10 fps less compared to legion). Pick the amd series for ideapad bc the battery life is no joke, intel version only GIVE you extra 3 fps. The legion with i5 gen 10 is only 4 core and consume a lot of battery.

Whether it’s ddr4 or 5, you can manage to get larger ram than 16GB. I’ve seen most that went with 16x2 but I’m still yet to do that. I think the specs mentioned 16GB max as the max option you can get when you order the laptop. But the technicality to it can be more than that.
Can anyone please advise me if the dual channel RAM will work with different brands of RAM? I remember that it must be a kit of 2x8GB - is this rule only for desktop? In the video at 1:01 it is shown different brand of RAM sticks.
I think that as long as the RAM is the same in size and frequency, the brands don't matter
Dual rank and dual channel is the best option. The brand doesn't care, even the frequency of them, 2400 or 3200 doesn't have a big difference when you have a dedicated gpu.
The rule still applies to laptops but it isn't exactly what you think it is.
Basically you don't wanna mismatch RAM sticks but if you have to then you just have to. Try to find a RAM stick with the same frequency and timings and it should be completely fine. Don't get anything faster because the clock of the RAM will match the slower one and don't get a slower one for the same reason. Hope that helps.

I think u could do with 120 hz screen on a 3060 on most games, except the extra light ones like valorant or csgo, wouldn't make any difference

the only thing holding me is the 3060 is 90w not like the legion 130w
but even with that it is powerful and budget friendly (849£) with 16gb of ram and an rgb keyboard for more fps 😂
T1he difference it made when i added another ram stick was not eqven comparable. Like it choked every now and then playing spiderman miles morales on on very low graphics and was played smoother than polished marble when i added a second ram stick on very high graphics

I ordered this for my gf and am going to do the suggested RAM upgrade but (and I'm gonna comment this in the other Ideapad Gaming 3 vid as well) I'm not sure about the speed of the Intel 660P it comes with, having a much faster 980 Pro in my own laptop and desktop it seems anaemic tbh. I'm going to put a 1Tb 980 non-Pro I have spare in the empty socket but does anybody know what would be a good, faster alternative m.2 I could upgrade that 660P with?
I have eyes on an m.2 2242 Sabrent Rocket (either 512Gb/1Tb) but can't find any info as to whether it'll fit etc.
Mine came with a 2280 intel SSD which is weird coz all the videos I saw it came with a 2230. I had already bought a SK Hynix Gold P31 that I was going to add (512GB) so I could total 1TB but now I will have to find a 2230 SSD which are usually more expensive. I still swapped out the intel SSD for the Hynix one because it was much faster. I'm using the intel one in an external enclosure and it's almost the same speed as it was in the laptop.
What do you mean by the 5600h laptop was draining power from the battery while plugged in? Does that mean it wasn't charging from the wall at all?
In my HP Victus i7 11th generation rtx 3060 i also facing same issues battery drains during gaming even charging is on. In 1 hour it drains 15% approx.

No its normal for that to happen if it less then 100 watt power it will not charge the laptop while gaming decreasing the battery cause how weak the charger is.
Asus A15 I have can charge even while playing very heavy game like elden ring stunning breakthrough cause of that 200 watt of power.

I don't think Lenovo will give this option. Last year, Lenovo had a 5600H + 3060 option for legion 5. Until now, for the 12th gen, only hp has an option for 12500h + 3060.

Rtx3050 Ti is a bit more powerful, but ryzen 6000 is much more energy efficient

I have the same specs as you, but I also have a problem with the laptop battery reducing when plugged in and playing games. reduced by about 5-10% battery power.
I seen other people saying that they purchased a 170w power adapter to solve that problem because it only comes with a 135 Watt.

This laptop is the worst laptops I ever own after 4month the laptop shuts down just before my final exams and then I send it for a repair and it comes with a new problems. It’s uncomfortable owning a laptop that could stop working suddenly while you studying. I don’t recommend it to any one especially for students. It’s that bad and the repair services one of worst I ever had. If you want to buy it you have to know that you buy nothing but a painful experience.
