Would you buy this for $599? Also, if you missed it I reviewed the best laptops of 2022 which you can find here - ruclips.net/video/O1_aB6Y-dDE/видео.html
I did, in Sweden. Swapped the single 8GB RAM stick for two eight Rx8 sticks. So it's a loooot more responsive now.
I wanted to buy a few when it dropped to 550 for black Friday. thanks for this review ill check it out.
no
Just bought this for 600, by far the best priced gaming laptop for this range.
@@grumpywolfgaming what games have tried?
I grew up on playing low settings cause I care about performance than I care about the look of the game.
I agreed. Not all of us can buy a good laptop, let alone buy a laptop. Getting a low end specs laptop allowed me to grow more patience and become grateful with what I have
The more you play on high settings, the more you damage ur pc

Honestly you get what you paid for. Not expecting to be miracles. The most important thing is to game on it. That's it. I don't think people will complain about it whether it's just semi decent screen, or build. $600 for a playable experience is acceptable. I don't think people who buy this will complain.
Agreed
Yup I bought this as my first gaming laptop. Happy with it so far. The keyboard does feels clunky at times but I'm able to try out a lot of games that I couldn't with my old laptop.
@@DaEpicKiller what games have you tried?

Yea, I have last years version of this laptop and no complains whatsoever so far, love the minimal design of my laptop, the blue backlit keyboard and clicky keys, it's everything I could ask for in a laptop, on a budget.
I bought 1 of these 5600h, RTX 3050ti versions for $599 from Best buy. For $80 more I doubled the ram and added a NVME 1tb M.2 for storage.. I have it hooked into a DELL 24" monitor Most of the time and would say I am very satisfied.
The version with 5600h and rtx 3050ti is better than the version with 6600h and rtx 3050?
Can I ask how did you upgrade the RAM without voiding the Warranty for 3yrs?
@@mitchlaurensantillan58 if you need to return under warranty just put it back to the factory RAM
I have this laptop but the the 3050 ti. It's not my main pc, I bought it because i do a lot of travel down to my folks during the holidays. Having already had to use it once at thanksgiving I'd say assuming you feel good enough to open it up and slot a stick of ram and the extra drive in, it's defiantly a great buy especially as a secondary pc or for a younger kid who is just getting into pc gaming.
Should I buy ddr4 or ddr5 ram for it?
@@wank200 it should be the same as the one stick you already have installed. Also you'll want a stick that matches in capacity and is at least as fast or faster than your current stick. It varies depending on the exact version of the laptop you have.

I think the more interesting choice would be the IdeaPad Gaming 3 16 model, released this year. That has a 16" 1920x1200 165Hz screen with 100% sRGB, same panel you see in the base model of Legion Slim 7/7i model.
how much does this retail for ?
The difference is one, Legion series display supports G Sync. And the ideapad isnt, atleast the ideapad supports adaptive sync/free sync from the igpu.
@@okeomanwosu703 1299.99
It's double the price though
@@John-mf6ky like someone else on here said, you get what you pay for.
Thank you, you answered my question on how viable it is for video rendering, graphic design and software development. Probably gonna invest into something more solid
With this price the screen is fine. I just wish it comes with a bigger battery. The new nitro 5 has a 57wh battery and acer still able to cram in the drive bay
@Matthew Moniz I have this the 3i version freaking love this keyboard wish there is Bluetooth version with same mechanical feeling of this keyboard ?? and is there other Lenovo upgradable laptops with same keyboard ??
I currently have this laptop right now, it's a steal for 599! I use it with an extra monitor
I got a fury renegade nvme and two 16 gb gaming rams and this laptop works great
It is quite cheap but going cheaper not always is the best idea.
It looks like a good budget desktop replacement laptop. I wouldn't use that monitor to type an email, but as a desktop replacement connected to an external monitor, when this is all you can afford, not bad. Obviously sooner than later you better upgrade that SSD and RAM.
why wouldn't you use the monitor to write an email?
@@emilioramirez-guanche2595 I don't remember any other reason, but my guess is because I would be using an external monitor.

I got it for $550 on black friday 6600h. I got another 8gb of DDR5 on sale black friday bumping it up to 16gb ddr5. and another entire full sized ssd black friday samsung to add to what it came with. at then end of the day, it plays games wonderfully for a laptop for what I paid. I see everyone complaining about the screen but it looks good to me.. For what I paid its honestly a great purchase. Repair and upgradeability is awesome with these. The cooling has been great, Im happy to have the big "butt" on it for gaming. Added a razer mouse and mousepad on sale for black friday as well.. I paid under 700 for everything and I'm beyond happy. Budget gaming laptops have finally become a thing.
Coming back now years later. I still have yet to come across a game that I really want to play that it doesn't play. It has performed so well. Getting it on black Friday and adding the extra ssd and ddr5 for pennies on the dollar the same day and upgrading it very easily as a newbie was the best decision I ever made. The screen is absolutely fine. Especially for what I get for what I paid. When I upgrade in a few years (since that's how long it's going to take before games actually cause this any issues) I'm going to do the same thing.. wait for black friday. This was the best purchase I've ever made.
Thank you! I was wondering whether or not this is a good laptop to use for video editing
I have this very model. Got it for 550 on black Friday. I'd say for the price, it is a steal. RTX 3060 laptops are like 300-400 more expensive and I'm not sure the performance difference is worth it for someone like me that's on a budget. I ordered an extra ram and SSD to upgrade it. Asides the awful screen like you said, I'm comfortable with the performance so far. I see myself using this for at least the next 2-3 years.
Hey man I know it's 1 year late how's the laptop been? How's the battery life?
Battery life has been crap since day one, I've consistently been averaging 1-1:30 hours of battery life since I got it. Asides the battery life and the low screen brightness, it's been a decent laptop. I do some programming, data analysis and occasional gaming on it and it has been serving me well. Go for it if you find it for a cheap price.@@naaresu
A great review by a great reviewer 👍🏼
Thank you 💕
I have this laptop with the same GPU but Ryzen 7 6800H, 16 GB of dual-channel RAM, and 512 GB SSD. As something for the kiddo to play Roblox on and eventually grow into other games, it's been working really well. The 120 Hz screen is quite terrible, but most of the time the laptop is docked to an external TV or monitor so it's a huge deal.

I'm not sure if it is released yet but it's been there on Lenovo Product Specifications Reference
I threw in a pair of RipJaw 3200 32GB ram + a 1 TB ssd and this thing runs like a Beast. 1 Year already I'm pretty surprised how good it is for the price. I do everything from gaming, video editing, and more down to the arranging music on fl studio with it. I got to say it's a BANG FOR BUCK. Just doesn't get cheaper than this for RTX loaded LapTop that's pretty portable. I've had bigger LapTops before that just sucked & weighed a ton.

Matthew - "256GB in 2022 is kinda getting inexcusable".
Apple - * puts that same amount of storage in their brand new $1299 Macbook Air *
Yup and it’s ridiculous
@@MatthewMoniz Yep and their upgrade prices are highway robbery. There is no technical advantage to building the NAND into the board like there is for the RAM so they are just doing that to be greedy.
@@Watchandlearn91 Why are you trolling Apple when the SP9 (ARM) at £1300 only has 128GB? I suspect you just hate Apple. Instead use other OEMs so your bias does not show. You are correct re the upgrade prices, and that also applies to MS, and as MS is also a Windows machine, like this Lenovo, that would be a better example, and mean you do not sound like you are just posting to troll Apple.
@@andyH_England apple is rubbish
@@andyH_England Lol I have an iPhone 13 Pro, an iPad Mini (latest gen), an iPad Pro 11 (m1), a macbook air m1 (16gb/1tb), and a macbook pro 16 (m1 max, 32gb / 1tb) so you can say i'm familiar with Apple and prefer their products. I use these products because i believe they are the absolute best in their category (phone, tablet, thin and light laptop, and desktop replacement laptop).
I hate it when people get so defensive over Apple like it is their own personal company. I do not "hate" Apple but Apple is not perfect and they have many flaws. One is that they are actively gouging customers over their base storage tier as I pointed out and having the upgrade prices be so high especially when NAND flash chips are so cheap. Them not allowing users to upgrade the storage in their laptops is just another way to gouge customers. Have I paid these upgrade prices and am I happy with my devices? Yes and yes. That still does not mean that it shouldn't be otherwise.
I am using the much older version of this, overall it does what it does :D
And what does it do? Crash? Overheat? Disappoint?
This is what a good review feels like ❤
To anyone who has this specific laptop!
When you connect it via HDMI or DP via USB-C, does it connect to the integrated graphics or to the discrete GPU?
Update 19/12/22 - Update! Got the answers to both of my questions! (sorta)
Both drives indeed do work in Gen4 speeds, and the HDMI port connects directly to the discrete GPU! I haven’t tested DP Alt Mode yet but I’ll get to it sometime soon!
Got it as part of the Amazon Black Friday deals that were going on, and bought some RAM and two PCIe Gen 4 SSDs (the M.2 2242 drive in there was not cheap) so I can upgrade the laptop!
Another question really is if I'm gonna take advantage of both drives running at 4.0 speeds, or one running at 3.0 while the main drive runs at 4.0. I'm wondering that because, while I read the specsheet and it says that it has two Gen4 slots, Lenovo hasn't actually tested it with Gen4 drives. So I'm wondering if I could've saved some money by going for a cheaper SSD. 😅
Did IdeaPad gaming 3 get a new design?

You dont need a gaming laptop, there's a lot cheaper options.
Just go for an ultrabook kind of laptop then . Lighter and better battery
Yeah, just go for something with a good cpu and a good battery then. This is a decent hybrid laptop for both studying and gaming but if you are not planning on gaming I dont see the point of sacrificing battery, a potentially better cpu and ssd storage for basically nothing when there are a lot of other cheaper options. It will 100% work if you are planning on doing a little gaming on the side otherwise something on the $300-$500 price range will work.
@@Scj10 Bro....is there a trick like one of the comments said that you can change from dedicated gtx/rtx graphics card to integrated one....this will increase the battery life?
Do you know how to do that?
@@Ramesh-hl4eb you can use Lenovo vantage to change It to quiet mode and hybrid mode (not sure if this is the one with better battery life) which supposedly helps, I am not sure how much because I basically just use mine plugged to the wall like 95% of the time (I use the Mode to keep the max charge of the battery at 80% so It doesnt harm It). Obviously by putting It on quiet mode you are basically crippling your laptop so It doesnt consume as many resources so battery last longer, so dont expect to play games in this mode (well, maybe you can play very light games), It is just for web browsing and other basic task like word or excel.
Also if you havent heard of Lenovo vintage then you probably got to update drivers, watch a video of how to do It (maybe Skip BIOS if you want)

I'm going to buy a gaming laptop for the first time ever is this good or their a better option for the same price point
Honestly, at this price point this is the best you can get in my opinion. The other laptops with similar specs are around 700+. You could argue that the 2021 version is a little better but both have their pros and cons so it is up to you (This one has better cooling and is ddr5 which is a little more expensive to upgrade but better, also a better cpu). Honestly people keep saying that they should have added a better screen or another stick of Ram or more ssd storage(in this one I kinda agree tbh) but then the laptop would have been like $100 more expensive and $600(it was $550 on black friday) for something this good is totally worth it in my opinion.
Don't listen to him this is as good as it gets its so powerful it can play any game you throw at even 200fps plus faster low lag time.

@@Scj10 2021 version with a 3050ti or the version of this video, which one do you think is better?
@@3xtremeg4merbr98 Probably the 2021 has better performance when in comes to games (the difference should be small tbh), if you kinda want a hybrid between gaming and general usage this version is better (the battery last longer and it is also faster). The cooling on this one is also kinda nice. If you just want It for games then just go for the 2021 version honestly. (Idk if they fixed this but they had some issues with giving a charger that was lacking and It was giving some battery issues on the 2021 version so you should probably research about that).
